[name_m]Jotham[/name_m] [name_m]Trey[/name_m] DuMarr-Noyes (16) is [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] 's half-brother from another mother who was one of the last members of the family to find out about [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] 's trauma. He was furious when he found out and tried to find the guy in order to beat him up , but [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] managed to convince him not to do it. As she said “just because you do judo doesn’t mean you can tackel someone seven years older than you. Besides, you’re in enough trouble as it is”.
[name_m]Jotham[/name_m] is rather notourious in his school for getting bad grades and talking back to teachers , besides he has been caught vandalising property before by painting on the walls of a small local thrift shop near his school at night, accompanied by his best friend , of whom [name_m]Jotham[/name_m] is jealous because of how much better of a mural artist he is and also of the fact that street art is a way of life for his friend, whereas for [name_m]Jotham[/name_m] it’s just a way to be goofy and skip school. He has no drive in life honestly the only thing he considers himself good at is video games - especially Cities Skylines and other games where you have to build an infrastructure and take care of it. The friend who he does murals with sees this as [name_m]Jotham[/name_m] 's hidden taletnt - the ability to know every corner of [name_u]Calgary[/name_u] perfectly and find places for murals, coming up with cool ideas for infrastructure in the city out of the blue and even going to political meetings so that local representatives have an idea about [name_m]Jotham[/name_m] 's proposals, while the only way he can get them to be realised is through a video game. The friend thinks [name_m]Jotham[/name_m] should major in [name_u]Urban[/name_u] Planning , but to be honest [name_m]Jotham[/name_m] is not even sure if he wants to go to college - even though he knows that his mother will probably force him to.
[name_m]Jotham[/name_m] always saw himself as painfully mediocore compared to [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] and his other half-sister. While [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] excelled at violin and the other sister nurtured her enterpreneurial spirit , from garage sales and lemonade stands to eventually her own small print shop, [name_m]Jotham[/name_m] seemed to be overscheduled by his mom who signed him up for countless extracurricular activities - swimming, pottery , judo and additional [name_u]French[/name_u] classes - only for him to be average at all of those things but never truly find his passion in any of them. When he came home , he was often too tired to properly do homework and would just half-heartedly write whatever came to mind in his notebooks , to then take a nap or play his evening away in Overwatch or Cities Skylines.
After months and months of pleading with his mother , he finally convinced her to sign him out of swimming, pottery and [name_u]French[/name_u] to only leave judo - the one extracurricular activity he couldn’t let go of because of the instructor becoming a real mentor or even a second father figure to him - one who taught him about patience , endurance and perseverance arguably more than about the martial art himself and whose words motivated him time and time again to keep trying everyday. " You don’t have to be the best or most talented , showing up ready is much more than some talented kids are willing to do".
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though his mother still puts a lot of preassure on [name_m]Jotham[/name_m] , he is slowly building up more confidence - as tragic as [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] 's trauma was , it brought the siblings closer together and he loves the fact that he no longer feels inadequate in their company now that everyone rallied to support [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] physically and emotipnally. He knows violence is not the anwser now but truly believes that the upcoming trial will be a sucess and [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] & the other victim get justice. Meanwhile , [name_m]Jotham[/name_m] is more than happy playing co-op games with [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] , fishin with his dad or helping his half-sisters in the print shop - now that his many activities don’t solely revolve around him gaining skills to make a college application look good, he feels much less overwhelmed.
