Create a Family With a Twist 2

Warning for volatile threatening relationship and suicide.

[name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_m]Armando[/name_m] [name_m]Marios[/name_m] (57) is the father of Helen’s girlfriend and Ainsley’s prosecutor lawyer. Like [name_f]Helen[/name_f], his daughter is also not an only child. Sometimes [name_m]Saul[/name_m] will act as a father figure to [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and [name_f]Mary[/name_f] since they’re not close with their own parents. He’s given [name_f]Helen[/name_f] and his daughter space and stayed away from discussing case details with [name_f]Helen[/name_f] unless she discusses it first. Saul’s heard every “Better Call Saul” reference under the sun and pretty much doesn’t mind, he loves his job. He and [name_u]Tegan[/name_u] are good friends despite the 23-year age gap since [name_u]Tegan[/name_u] is used to age gaps in family and friends, having a cousin 19 years younger than him. However [name_m]Saul[/name_m] cringed when [name_u]Tegan[/name_u] said, “I’m the oldest of my grandchildren and in my mid-30s. [name_u]Man[/name_u] I’m so middle-aged.” [name_m]Saul[/name_m] laughed and said, “Boy you’re not so middle-aged. You’re 34, you’re young, too young to be calling yourself that. I’m 57, what does that make me?”

While [name_m]Saul[/name_m] is fine with people in their 30s given his daughter and his co-worker, he has been wary with some people in their 30s and with age gaps. One of his former clients was a man who was in his 20s and was dating a boxer in his 30s. Despite the boxer’s career, he was never violent towards his boyfriend and always warned him that he could get volatile and begged him to stay away. The younger boyfriend did but the older boxer was unruly and would go from trying to cautiously warning his boyfriend to be careful to then screaming at him and threatening to punch him. During the planning of what would have been the trial, [name_m]Saul[/name_m] and his client were discussing evidence of the threats and harassment the client received, including a threatening phone message that day saying that the boyfriend needs him over here today and he “will” harm the client the next time they see each other regardless of whether or not he comes. [name_m]Saul[/name_m] told his client not to visit his threatening boyfriend and that he’s safer away from harm, which his client agreed. Turns out the boxer boyfriend did end up harming someone…he harmed himself — fatally. He shot himself in the chest and had a note, the bulk of it being his apologies to his younger boyfriend for all he did and apologies to his family for disgracing them. Because of the suicide, the trial never happenedSaul never saw the body or read the note and at first thought this man only ended his life to get out of facing a trial and jail sentence but he learned that was not exactly true. Another part of the note requested to donate his brain for research, which would end up proving his volatility and eventual suicide were the result of CTE. [name_m]Saul[/name_m] does not like discussing this canceled case and while he’s glad the client is living a safer life and can stop fearing harm, it’s completely awful for everyone involved.

[name_m]Saul[/name_m] plans to represent [name_u]Ainsley[/name_u] fairly and not to underestimate any impact the perpetrator has done. [name_m]Saul[/name_m] doesn’t have any reason to sympathise with the perpetrator as in this case, it was his own sound mind but his decisions were completely disgusting and his status as a repeat offender is repulsive. The perpetrator chose to do this and deserves to live with any consequences he placed on himself. Despite his serious nature in his cases, he too relates to [name_f]Helen[/name_f] that his daughter is a breath of fresh air. Like [name_f]Helen[/name_f], he adores his daughter’s sweet and loving nature but also her charisma that helps him keep his mind off all the negativity. He supports his daughter eventually having a family with [name_f]Helen[/name_f] when the time is right and thinks the two women are a perfect match for each other. [name_m]Saul[/name_m] is very close with his children and although they’re grown, he still likes taking them on picnics with nature and walking around parks, mountains and rivers with them from the morning until after the beautiful sunset.
