Thank you so much for the warm welcome and introduction! I have been following along on your guy’s games for a long time and I like all your characters and you all seem like wonderful people. But it is hard for me to remember a lot of things so hopefully I won’t mess up lmao. I’m glad to be joining this because it seems like a lot of fun. I’m going to let someone else make a character I just wanted to say thanks for the welcome cuz I was a little nervous.
[name_f]Roslyn[/name_f] ’ [name_f]Ros[/name_f] ’ [name_f]Juliska[/name_f] Calverst-Peters (16) is Maddie’s date for the impending dance. [name_f]Ros[/name_f] belongs to the schools LGBTQUIAP+ Society and a lot of people believe she’s going to become a president or co-president in the future thanks to how outspoken she is about her experiences, including the less pleasant one’s, as she firmly believes in advocating for the rights and freedoms of queer people by exposing prejudice and bigotry. This isn’t surprising though, as [name_f]Ros[/name_f] lives with her two father’s - one of whom is genderfluid, sometimes using they pronouns - and her other dad is a journalist who regularly reports on all kinds of hate crimes to raise awareness. She isn’t their only child - having a younger sibling who’s just turned 11 - but is the much more headstrong one, as evident by her confidence.
[name_f]Ros[/name_f] herself is pansexual but prefers dating women by her own admission, although she hasn’t had a serious relationship, not that she’s looking for anything too committed as she’s young and wants to gain experience so she doesn’t rush into anything. Aside from her society work, she’s talented at [name_f]English[/name_f] - sharing her dad’s journalistic passions - but is a huge history buff too and gives her all in the subject, especially regarding Eastern Europe, as her birth mother was from Hungary. She sadly passed away when [name_f]Ros[/name_f] was only 5 months old - leading to her adoption by her parents - but connecting with her heritage remains important to the young woman.
Vitas Ambrus Calverst (40) is one of Ros’s adoptive fathers and a proud journalist, devoting himself to reporting and stopping hate crimes. His work is his passion and he spends every day fighting for a more accepting world. He is 1/4th Hungarian himself, having a Hungarian grandfather and a Roman grandmother, then having two Roman parents who emigrated. He knows how important heritage is to his children and would never strip that away from them, much like his own parents and grandparents never forgot about their own cultures. He’s excited for Ros to go to the dance with Maddie but knows Ros isn’t immediately trying to get into a relationship. He respects this and knows Ros is a confident individual who does things when she’s ready and is all for it. Vitas has always been in support of the LGBTQUIAP+ community, being a pansexual man and was nothing but appreciative when his spouse came out as genderfluid and Ros came out as pansexual.
[name_u]Michael[/name_u] [name_u]Francis[/name_u] Peters (41) is Vitas’s’ husband and Ros’s’ other dad, who runs his own bar - 7 Shades - which is a LGTBQIA+ centric space that hosts a multitude of events ranging from birthdays to live music. The older child of a teenage mother, who was born when she was 17, [name_u]Michael[/name_u] grew up without much stability, as his mom was constantly being moved around due to lack of social housing and even after his younger half-sister was born 2 years later, they were typically placed in homes too small for all 3 of them. [name_u]Michael[/name_u] tended to sleep in the front room on an airbed and struggled with how he felt about his mom, who seemed to believe finding the right partner would save the family instead of spending more time with her kids. This is why he’s such a devoted parent himself who adores his children more than anything and goes out of his way to help them at any given moment, never wanting them to feel second best or pushed to the back. It doesn’t mean [name_u]Michael[/name_u] lacks time or affection for [name_m]Vitas[/name_m] though, as he has a natural romantic side to him, and now [name_f]Ros[/name_f] is older, they have date nights with her babysitting or arrange for one of Michael’s nieces to do so.
While he doesn’t speak to his mom much nowadays, Michael’s close with his sister still, and her children are very close with he and Vitas’s’. She lives a 45 minute drive away with her husband and Michael’s relieved she also found happiness, as she carried a lot of guilt growing up as [name_u]Michael[/name_u] made sacrifices for her well-being when they were very financially strapped. Both of he and Vitas’s’ children are adopted as [name_u]Michael[/name_u] wanted to help kids born into homes similar to the one he grew up in, and their younger child’s background is very similar to his own. When he’s not doing anything with his family or organising work events, [name_u]Michael[/name_u] plays guitar as a means of relaxing, or bakes something. He’s quite a laidback man who seems quiet when you first meet him and not a typical bar owner, but he’s very level-headed and handles stressful situations well, which relieves his staff. Most of them are queer/POC themselves and Michael’s dedicated to making the work space as safe, accepting and tolerant as possible. He’s fired people before who haven’t treated their colleagues with respect and makes it clear intolerance, bigotry and prejudice will not be accepted at 7 Shades.

[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [Peters] Denweiss (39) is Michael’s younger sister and aunt to his children, being a mother to three girls’ herself. Growing up, [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] was protected from the same feeling of dismissal her brother faced on account of being the younger sibling. She had sporadic contact with her own father until her late teens, although it wasn’t anything pleasant as he developed a drinking problem when she was ten, in response to numerous redundancies and evictions he endured after running away from home when he was eighteen. [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] actually has other half-siblings, born to her dad and his partner, but they were taken into foster care due to the incredibly disorganised home they lived in and their own parents habit of disappearing for days on end when they were binge drinking. On the odd occasion she went to spend more time with her dad and his family, [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] never felt fully accepted by his partner, and it soon befame apparent she was a substitute babysitter rather than a welcomed guest into their home - and, for all her own flawed behaviour, [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] and Michael’s mom banned this arrangement when it became apparent what was happening during these visits.
Her older brother was the only person [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] felt comfortable confiding in and who she knew was always there for her, turning to him for advice when she decided to finally cut off all contact with her father when he lost custody of her brother and sisters, then made no attempt to change for their sakes. Although she tries her best to be optimistic - being affectionately called the ‘Family [name_u]Ray[/name_u] of Sunshine’ thanks to her abundance of kindness and sincere, thoughtful advice - this truly defeated all hope [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] had for the man, and they’ve had no contact since shortly after she turned eighteen. [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] met her husband while working in a pizza restaurant, with him making her laugh during a thoroughly miserable shift, and she decided to give him her number which led to their relationship blossoming quickly. College was never an option due to her financial circumstances, but [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] has established herself as a beautician and runs her own shop in the town of Stellbrook where she lives, employing one of her childhood friends and together they’ve trained many apprentices, several of whom have stayed on.
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] and her husband had their eldest daughter when they were 26, getting married three years later so she could serve as their maid of honour, and [name_f]Ros[/name_f] served as another bridesmaid to her on this special day. Never one to complain or ask for much, Jocelyn’s a very loving mother who’d do anything for her girls’, and her brother’s children receive the same treatment whenever they visit - notably in the form of her talent for cooking, as there’s always an abundance of snacks available at the Denweiss home thanks to [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] and her husband both loving to experiment in the kitchen. Six months ago, she finally managed to get back in contact with one of her paternal half-sisters too, and is arranging a family get together so everyone can reconnect. [name_f]Ros[/name_f] has been helping her with these arrangements, although [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] can tell her niece is a little nervous about meeting these long lost relatives, in case anyone interrogates her about being adopted: something [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] firmly will not allow.
[name_f]Emilie[/name_f] [name_f]Sunshine[/name_f] Denweiss (13) is the oldest daughter of [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] and her husband. [name_u]An[/name_u] avid student, [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] rose to the top of her class without putting any effort in- though she’s very naturally smart she still tries the hardest for her mothers sake. She loves her mother and tries to make her proud every day. She often times tries too hard and her mother tries to make her see that, but she’s oblivious. She also tries to set a good example for her two younger sisters, who she considers to be her best friends despite having a very large friend circle herself. She likes someone at her school but is too shy to tell them and still in denial of her own feelings. [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] is very curious about meeting her mothers half siblings but she doesn’t ever want to meet her grandfather as she thinks he’s a monster for not changing his behaviors. She’s doing some investigating but she hasn’t found any dirt on them yet. [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] is the longtime spelling bee champion and she’s also the president of the schooo mathletes club- but she doesn’t care what anyone thinks. She strives to do her best at what she’s good at but often finds that her sisters are jealous of her natural intellect despite having talents of their own- but [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] reassures them that they’re great in their own ways too.
[name_f]Shelbie[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] Denweiss (11) is the younger sister of [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] and the second daughter of [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]. She is very outgoing and loves to hear herself talk. Her family jokes that she will end up being a news broadcaster. She is constantly keeping everyone informed on what the members of her family are up to. Which can get her in to trouble for gossiping.
Miss [name_f]Shelbie[/name_f] loves to model and lights up any time someone brings out a camera. Her wants to be a high-fashion model when she grows up and dreams of the day that she can strut her stuff wearing the biggest brand names on the catwalk. A luxury that her family cannot currently afford.
She can have her jealous moments. Mostly towards her older sister, who always acts like the most perfect child. It seems like there is never a day that goes by were someone in her family isn’t asking why [name_f]Shelbie[/name_f] cannot be more like [name_f]Emilie[/name_f]. Good grades, empathic, beautiful… [name_f]Shelbie[/name_f] cannot compete and rarely tries anymore. Regardless, the trio of girls are close and consider one another best friends as well as sisters.
[name_u]Connie[/name_u] [name_f]Windy[/name_f] Denweiss [3] is the final sibling and youngest daughter of [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]. [name_f]Shelbie[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] love her, but fear she may be looking too closely into the family problems. [name_u]Connie[/name_u] isn’t looking that closely insta them as she doesn’t understand it yet, but she gets unhappy when she sees other family members unhappy. She is ahead of other children her age developmentally and loves to socialise, which gives early sides of [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] and [name_f]Shelbie[/name_f] in Connie’s personality. [name_u]Connie[/name_u] loves to splash around in the pool and is close with her mother and father. She also slightly knows the paternal half-sister [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] has reconnected to. When [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] and her half-sister met up with each other, [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] had to take [name_u]Connie[/name_u] with her because her husband was at work and [name_f]Emilie[/name_f] and [name_f]Shelbie[/name_f] were at school so no one could watch [name_u]Connie[/name_u] and [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] didn’t want to pay for a babysitter. She didn’t quite know what they were talking about, but [name_u]Connie[/name_u] feels a good bond with Jocelyn’s half-sister. Despite being the youngest, she’s the first to meet this other woman, making it the first time she’s done something before her older sisters have.

[name_f]Leticia[/name_f] ’ [name_f]Tish[/name_f] ’ [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] Colebrook (34) is [name_u]Connie[/name_u], [name_f]Shelbie[/name_f] and Emilie’s maternal aunt, being the half-sister of [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]. Being the eldest of her full-blooded siblings means [name_f]Tish[/name_f] experienced a lot of parentification growing up, substituting for [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] when she wasn’t seeing their father, and sometimes would find herself left alone for hours at time when her parents were out drinking, never knowing if they planned on coming back. It was painful being separated from her siblings when they were taken into care as well. No family member could support all four of them, meaning the two youngest were placed with biological family, while [name_f]Tish[/name_f] and her brother were sent off to be fostered.
Sadly, they were split up too - after Tish’s brothers’ behaviour deteriorated from the pain of rejection, and the anger it caused to build up inside him; with their social worker believing a placement for both of them would be near impossible to find given his needs and then Tish’s own. Adoption never happened for [name_f]Tish[/name_f]: instead she went through temporary placements until she was 18, and then found herself pretty isolated once her social worker had helped secure her a place at community college. She plans on continuing the search with [name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f] to find their siblings, but it’s been much harder than they both anticipated after it became apparent surnames had been changed, and Tish’s brother was sent to another state after landing in juvi; but they’re both determined to at least find answers (as rejection is something they aren’t going to ignore, given the past all of them faced).
[name_f]Tish[/name_f] is a mother herself: having a daughter who’s just turned 5. She and her daughter’s dad are no longer together - they’d broken up by the time [name_f]Tish[/name_f] learned she was pregnant after dating for 4 months - but they’ve managed to build up a strong friendship in spite of not being romantically compatible, and their daughter has both of their surnames. Jocelyn’s girls’ are very excited by the fact [name_f]Tish[/name_f] is an assistant manager for a formal wear shop too - as all the beautiful dresses she has access to and imports naturally play into ideas of school dances, or playing pretend (depending on which of her nieces you ask).
[name_m]Hamilton[/name_m] “ [name_m]Milt[/name_m] “ [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_m]Way[/name_m] (34) is Tish’s ex-boyfriend, friend, and co-parent to their daughter. He is a professional poker player, which raises eyebrows because it gives off the impression he’s a gambling addict and untrustworthy, but it’s made him a smarter and more resourceful person. He’s always been the type to know big-minded moves, seeing that he’s also an expert in chess playing. People often fear him but he’s not the manipulative type of person in real life, he actually uses his wit to catch manipulators and stop them. He and [name_f]Tish[/name_f] were not necessarily meant for each other romantically and their reason was simply just falling out of love. People fall for others, might lose interest, break up, and may eventually find new people one day, it’s normal. Neither he nor [name_f]Tish[/name_f] are romantically involved with anyone else, but they’re both cool with their ex finding another person, it’s part of life. [name_m]Milt[/name_m] makes sure that he and Tish’s daughter has both active parents in her life and also makes sure she has the happiest life they can give her - he knows the turmoil Tish’s family faced and wants them to be able to find and repair their siblings’ lives.
Zephrina Letonia “ZeZe” Colebrook-Way (5) is the cherished only daughter of [name_f]Tish[/name_f] and [name_m]Milt[/name_m]. She is the perfect apple of both of parents’ eyes. She spoilt at both her homes, to the point that it is starting to become an issue at school. She is known to throw multiple tantrums throughout the day. [name_m]Even[/name_m] with her temper, she is very loving and has a soft spot for animals. Her dad shares her passion and goes a little overboard with all the different kinds of pets. Her absolute favorite thing to do is teach their parrot, [name_m]Tuck[/name_m], new songs to sing.
[name_u]Pierce[/name_u] [name_m]Kofi[/name_m] Calverst-Peters (11) is a fellow student at ZeZe’s school and the younger adoptive son of [name_m]Vitas[/name_m] and [name_u]Michael[/name_u]. Initially he and his friends didn’t get along with ZeZe and the other 5-year-olds because the 5-year-olds were always coming over to play at their grass field and on their playground in the school. However [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] and his best friend are more shy than the other 11-year-olds in his class and don’t pick on the 5-year-olds like some classmates. He’s become more understanding of ZuZu since they’re technically half-cousins, and with [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] having a similar upbringing to [name_u]Michael[/name_u] before he was adopted. [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] feels ZuZu is mainly spoiled simply due to her parents trying to give the the best life they can give. He likes to hang with [name_f]Ros[/name_f] and her friends and looks up them, considering them all to be cool, but still has some good friends of his own.
Ranumi [name_f]Priya[/name_f] Jayawardene (11) is Pierce’s classmate and a good friend of his, who’s starting to think she might like him- though she hasn’t told anyone about this yet (besides her 3 older sisters, she’s the baby of the family) and is trying to “stop liking him,” though this is a very irrational thought process and her sisters have encouraged her to follow her heart. She enjoys talking to [name_u]Pierce[/name_u], as he’s an understanding person and she wishes more people could be like [name_u]Pierce[/name_u]. [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] may be the only male friend Ranumi has, and she’s dismissed her crush as platonic love because she really doesn’t want to like anyone- she’s too focused on her studies, in her opinion! Ranumi’s always been a very high achiever, and she’s not one to accept a bad grade, so she often stays up till midnight studying. [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] and her other friends encourage her to calm down, but she isn’t very good at being calm…
Ranumi is very smart. She plays the clarinet and is first chair in school, but some mean boys a grade above her often mock her and call her a “band kid-“ they mean it as an insult but Ranumi sees it as a good thing! She’s also the top of her class, and is learning some Sinhalese and Tamil- she’s Sri Lankan, and immigrated to the USA when she was only 18 months old, so she doesn’t remember it there- but she’s seen pictures and knows she wants to visit someday. She is also interested in doing another instrument and wants to try out the piano, but her parents are urging her to take a break. One of her sisters is quite the slacker when it comes to school, and they often joke that maybe if this sister was as driven as Ranumi, she’d be better in school- which really hurts her. Ranumi isn’t good at working out conflicts, but she tries to relieve her sister’s anxiety and pain. Ranumi wishes she had more friends…she tries to be content with a small circle but often wants popularity.
Omysha [name_f]Shivani[/name_f] Jayawardene (23) is Ranumi’s elder sister and the firstborn child of her parents. Thanks to the age gap between them, Omysha has clearer memories of the family’s life in Vavuniya, and speaks both Sinhalese and Tamil fluently because of this; having been able to visit more recently because of a contract she took. Following the move, Omysha experienced a lot of insecurity about her speaking of [name_f]English[/name_f] - having heard about the teasing some ESL students endure - and subsequently was borderline mute at school, as she felt not taking any risks would make her a less likely target. She only started coming out of her shell after befriending several other immigrant students (a few who’d gone through the same anxieties), and that helped her confidence blossom to what it had once been.
Being very popular in high school, Omysha was voted as Prom [name_f]Queen[/name_f] in her final year and by this point several people - both friends and other students - had recommended she try modelling, not just because of her beauty, but how she was a natural at posing for photographs. To alleviate the fears of her parents (who weren’t against Omysha modelling but didn’t want to see her mistreated or insecure about her career), she worked doing translation while building up her portfolio and image, getting her big break 2 years ago after being scouted at a runway in [name_u]New[/name_u] [name_u]York[/name_u].
Subsequently Omysha’s enjoyed a lot of success, which has meant she’s been away more from her family, a big adjustment at first given how close she is to them (especially her sister who’s only 3 years younger than her and currently attending university). She’s made a travel scrapbook to document her many trips and is especially fond of hiking in scenic places with her fellow models when given the chance, or exploring cuisine and night life if in a more populated place - especially with her closest friend at the agency, who’s Italian, and they frequently cook dishes from their cultures for one another to try. Omysha is aware her former popularity has caused Ranumi to aspire for the same thing and is doing her best to assure her sister she doesn’t need that to feel happy - although she doesn’t want to seem hypocritical given her own status.
Avanthi Sanjula “Ava” Jayawardene (20) is the sister of Ranumi and Omysha. She’s currently attending university and studying the arts, mainly cosmetic arts- she wants to become a makeup artist. As a kid she used to always practice on Omysha and her other sister- when her family packed up and moved from Sri Lanka to the USA, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] was stunned and impressed by the makeup scene. Her sister picked up popularity quite naturally, and [name_f]Ava[/name_f] pined for that level of recognition among her peers- she changed her name from “Avanthi” to the shorter, more modern [name_f]Ava[/name_f] and tried to speak with a heavy American accent, using phrases like “oh my gosh” and such. She took a liking to electives such as cosmetic arts and fashion design, creating a dress for little Ranumi to wear- from the start [name_f]Ava[/name_f] loved Ranumi and saw her as a sweet little doll. Their other sister (not Omysha) is really tomboyish and refuses to let anyone touch her hair or style her, so [name_f]Ava[/name_f] took an instant liking to Ranumi. They tell each other everything- when Ranumi told [name_f]Ava[/name_f] about [name_u]Pierce[/name_u], she said it was normal and that she should tell him she likes him as he probably likes her too.
Like Ranumi, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] has always held some jealousy towards Omysha- she’s a model, she’s pretty and she’s successful. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] wishes she were Omysha at times, but she tries to not let it out for fear of hurting her big sister. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] hates being away from her family- she’s studying in LA at the University Of Los [name_u]Angeles[/name_u], in [name_u]California[/name_u], which is pretty far away from her dear sisters. However, [name_f]Ava[/name_f] has plenty of friends there who accept her and love her as she is- and even let her pick out their outfits and do their makeup from time to time. Right now, Ava’s working at a Bath and Body Works, which she loves- her sister always complains of how awful it smells (jokingly, of course) and how it smells like “ pick me girls. “ [name_f]Ava[/name_f], Ranumi and Omysha think this is hilarious, of course. [name_f]Ava[/name_f] can’t wait to visit her home again, and see her sisters.
Nuveena " [name_f]Naya[/name_f] " [name_f]Kimaya[/name_f] Jayawardene (13) is the final sister and resident tomboy. As the third born, independence is fiercely important to [name_f]Naya[/name_f], right down to the nickname she goes by: she embraced it because her best friend - the first friend she made following the family move - gave it to her, and very much values her space. This can be difficult due to her closeness in age to Ranumi - so people naturally group them together - but they have such different natures any comparisons quickly end once you’ve had five minutes in their company. [name_f]Naya[/name_f] loves basketball, running and tennis, always being on the move at lunch; however her dream is to study astronomy - space having captivated her for as long as she can remember. Her academic prowess was a shock to her teachers - as [name_f]Naya[/name_f] seemed like someone who wouldn’t care about studies - and while she’s not top of the class like Ranumi, [name_f]Naya[/name_f] doesn’t mind, as for her it just matters she’s succeeding enough to accomplish her dreams of working for NASA.
Her position in the age order is what’s led to [name_f]Naya[/name_f] becoming arguably the best - alongside Omysha - at not comparing herself to her sisters’. The girls’ parents are always fair in dividing attention, praise and affection, yet it surprises even them that Naya’s always less likely to harshly compare herself to the other’s. Arguably it’s because Naya’s nature is so blatantly different: she’s much more confrontational when pressed, not particularly a people pleaser and couldn’t really care either way about becoming popular. What’s important to [name_f]Naya[/name_f] are her core group of friends - a mixture of genders, who’s draw is their outspoken and bold natures - who she knows accept and care for her; so as long as she’s got them there isn’t anything to aspire towards. Those who’ve bullied Ranumi now don’t, as when [name_f]Naya[/name_f] learned what was happening, she confronted them - and only some words were necessary to get the point across about leaving her sister alone.
Currently, Naya’s been making some new friends - something she’s been surprisingly coy about given she’s naturally blunt - but her excitement comes from one of them being a fellow Sinhalese girl, and this is allowing them to bond more as Naya’s memories of her birth country are sparse like Ranumi’s. Omysha’s already been teaching [name_f]Naya[/name_f] how to cook traditional dishes when she’s home, and Naya’s now been helping her mom as it’s become a genuine point of enjoyment for her - although she hasn’t convinced her parents to let her visit Omysha on her assignments yet (it’s not a shock to them that travel as captured Naya’s interest so quickly). She and her best friend are also planning on going swimming with their new friend for her birthday, and Ava’s trying to convince [name_f]Naya[/name_f] to let Ranumi be a plus one as [name_u]Pierce[/name_u] will be going the same weekend…
Uncensored warning for death of a spouse.
Ahaan Agni Joshi (38) is one of the main staff members at the rec centre Naya goes to. Naya practices her sports there and will be going swimming for her friend’s birthday there. He’s not officially her coach but acts like one at times given the close bonds between the families. Ahaan is also of Sri Lankan origin and is the father of a 13-year-old Sinhalese girl who is Naya’s good friend and he’s close with people of his culture also still having a great bond with Pierce and Roz’s parents Michael and Vitas. Unfortunately when his daughter was only 2 months old, her mother, Ahaan’s wife, died of a sudden brain aneurysm in her sleep when she was just 25. Ahaan takes the silver lining that she died peacefully and didn’t feel any pain but was undoubtedly heartbroken to have lost his wife and mother to their daughter. He had been asked by family and friends over the years if he’d ever remarry, and although Ahaan wasn’t into single parenting, his heart wasn’t in it to remarry — until just last year. After 12 years, he finally married a new wonderful woman who is the mother of another child, Ahaan’s new stepchild. This hasn’t replaced his original wife and his new wife completely understands his pain. Ahaan absolutely adores his new wife and Ahaan’s daughter loves her too, but they keep memories so she always remembers her biological mother too.
Like Naya, Ahaan’s daughter loves her culture and is close with it as well. She is very sporty but adores Naya’s studious side with astronomy: after all their surname Joshi actually means “astronomer”! Ahaan is happy to see his daughter have such good friendships. His daughter is an excellent swimmer and he isn’t the type to brag but he’s so happy she gets to do what she loves at her friend’s party. His daughter knows that Ranumi likes Pierce but he doesn’t know, and knowing how social the Calverst-Peters, Jayawardene, and Joshi families are, seeing Ranumi as a plus one to the party wouldn’t faze him and he wouldn’t expect it was for love.

Sithara ’ [name_u]Aria[/name_u] ’ Anesha [name_m]Joshi[/name_m] (13) is Ahaan’s daughter, who’s secretly decided she wants to become an Olympic swimmer quite recently - although she hasn’t told her dad yet because she wants it to be a surprise. Having a surprising boldness for her age, [name_u]Aria[/name_u] has found a mentor in one of the high school students who frequents the same pool as her and has actually been invited to an Olympic tryout, viewing the older girl as a surrogate sister - as truthfully, she doesn’t always love being the oldest [but Aria’s always been open about this with her dad, and never objected to his new relationship, which allowed her to bond strongly with her stepmother].
Often she finds herself wishing she had clear memories of her late mother, in spite of how truthfully impossible she knows it is, but her dad’s vivid stories help keep up Aria’s spirits, and he absolutely is her hero in every sense of the word. She can be a little awkward around her younger stepsibling and tends to ask [name_f]Naya[/name_f] for help approaching this, as she considers her friend a fountain of knowledge because of her own younger sister. [name_u]Aria[/name_u] can be a little disorganised and her room is organised in a way only she can decipher, so her dad doesn’t get involved in trying to find anything based on how she goes about getting her stuff. To make up for this she’s an excellent runner - so at the very least she’s never late for things!
[name_f]Rosela[/name_f] [name_f]Medina[/name_f] (16) is Aria’s mentor and aspiring Olympic swimmer. She is the great-granddaughter of an Olympian however her great-grandmother represented the Philippines. [name_f]Rosela[/name_f] wants to be “the next one” and has done extensive training, fitness, and practicing to try her hopes at becoming an Olympian. Her younger sister is also training as a Paralympic swimmer. Outside of swimming, she also bonds with [name_u]Aria[/name_u] by babysitting her stepsister. She and Aria’s stepsister are into singing fun songs and playing clapping games and she, [name_u]Aria[/name_u], and Aria’s stepsister love UNO. She’s also a fan of Pictionary and Jenga as well and loved playing these games for many years before she started babysitting.
[name_f]Odetta[/name_f] ’ [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] ’ [name_f]Medina[/name_f] (15) is one of Rosela’s sisters, but not the Paralympic hopeful. While she’s incredibly proud of her siblings for their pursuits, and their great-grandma for what she accomplished, Ettie’s absolutely mad about photography herself, arguably inheriting this interest from their father, who’s an art director at a local gallery. In comparison to her naturally nurturing older sister, [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] can seem a bit moody in comparison, keeping to herself and the friends she knows well more, as well as not having any skills for mentoring because of how awkward she finds herself feeling.
In spite of this, Ettie’s incredibly loyal and shares a strong bond with her four siblings. She likes belonging to a big family because even when she wants some space, she never feels alone, and there’s a great deal of closeness between everyone. Ettie’s typically the best person to turn to if you need some quiet time. Her siblings spending time in her room is something she’s surprisingly easygoing about, as long as you don’t interfere with her stuff, and she doesn’t pressure anyone to open up when they aren’t in the mood.
The primary subject of her photography currently is the family’s only pet: [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] the bearded dragon. He was purchased after all the siblings banded together to convince their mom and dad the lizard could suffice as a joint [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] gift for all of them, succeeding with this ploy, and she’s now Ettie’s muse for projects. Although it shocks a lot of her friends, [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] isn’t too fussed about cats, dogs or rodents, it’s reptiles she’s so fond of. She has a soft spot for them because of people’s assumptions and won’t let anyone make assumptions about [name_f]Arabella[/name_f], taking it upon herself to encourage her friends to become more fond, and the dragon’s very effective for these means.
