Create a Family with a Twist!

[name_f]Valentina[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Medina[/name_f] (14) is the younger sister of [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosela[/name_f]. Like [name_f]Rosela[/name_f], [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] is keen to carry on the family’s swimming legacy and is dedicated to becoming a successful swimmer.

[name_f]Valentina[/name_f] is training as a Paralympic swimmer, and spends much of her time training in the pool. Swimming has been her absolute favourite thing since she was a child, and she is glad that is something she shares with her family. [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] developed a visual impairment when she was five, and although this was a big adjustment for her, she has not let it stop her reaching her swimming dreams. [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] is undoubtedly a very talented swimmer, and her coach is certain that with enough determination, [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] has a glittering swimming career ahead of her.

[name_f]Valentina[/name_f] is very close with her siblings, and her being so close in age to her siblings make the bond very special. [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] is often called ‘the talker’ of the family, which makes it very easy for her to make friends. It is also not uncommon for her to appear in her sister’s rooms and begin asking their opinions on very specific topics. Usually, [name_f]Ettie[/name_f] is her sister of choice for these conversations as she is so easy-going, but her other siblings are not always so happy for [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] to invite herself in for a chat. [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] has a wide group of friends, many of which are also interested in swimming. She also has ten pen-pals, which her family put down to her love of talking to people.

Outside of the pool, [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] is a member of her local debate society, and it makes her wonder if she should become a lawyer. She is obsessed with legal dramas, and could talk about them for hours, and she does - usually to [name_f]Ettie[/name_f]. She also enjoys music, especially 1980s music, which she insists her assistance dog, [name_f]Buttercup[/name_f], enjoys just as much as her.

[name_u]Remy[/name_u] [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_m]Navarro[/name_m] (15) is Valentina’s best friend and another member of the swim team. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] discovered a love of swimming while living by the beach for the first 10 years of her life. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] was originally born in [name_f]Miami[/name_f], [name_f]Florida[/name_f] where her parents had a successful nightclub band. Remy’s grandmother would take [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and her brother to swim while she watched them.

Remy’s parents band got a record deal and this brought them to [name_u]California[/name_u]. The move couldn’t come soon enough after Remy’s grandmother died a few months before. She and [name_u]Remy[/name_u] were very close and the change of scenery has been a big help to Remy’s grieving process. Remy’s parents only tour in the summer and mostly play nightclubs during the school year now. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] has never been interested in playing music like her parents. She appreciates it but having it run her life for so long deterred her onto another past.

Any water is Remy’s comfort place. When she met [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] and heard about her family, [name_u]Remy[/name_u] was quick to join the club team. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] has blossomed during her friendship with [name_f]Valentina[/name_f]. She has become more social and confident although she’ll never compete with Valentina’s nonstop talking. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] likes to observe first, talk later. She needs time to process her surroundings but quickly warms up. [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] will often join Remy’s family on a few tour dates in the summer. [name_u]Remy[/name_u] enjoys the late nights where they sit on a hotel balcony after a show with late night pizza or ice cream and chat about everything.

[name_f]Coleen[/name_f] [name_f]Mona[/name_f] [name_m]Hurley[/name_m] (38) is the coach of the swim team [name_u]Remy[/name_u] is on and a good friend of Remy’s mother. She’s Aria’s stepmother, Ahaan’s second wife, and the mother of a teenager from a previous relationship. When she and her ex-husband divorced in their twenties, he said she could keep the child because he just wanted the house. She hated how materialistic that sounded but knew her child deserved better than him, so he’s no longer in either of their lives. [name_f]Coleen[/name_f] was always motivated by children and watching them grow up into amazing people so she was motivated to become the high school swim coach. She’s not had much first-hand grief but remembers the death of her own grandmother and has always been there for [name_u]Remy[/name_u] and her family. However she has experienced a lot of second-hand grief from [name_m]Ahaan[/name_m] mourning his late first wife. Dating [name_m]Ahaan[/name_m] was difficult more so for him than her since he was a widower but [name_f]Coleen[/name_f] respected him and never tried to replace his late wife or get angry whenever [name_m]Ahaan[/name_m] mourned her. Like [name_u]Remy[/name_u], she also observes first and talks later. Ahaan’s late wife was always described as a lovely wife and she would have wanted to be in Aria’s life whereas Coleen’s ex-husband didn’t care about parenting at all. This made [name_f]Coleen[/name_f] respect her and [name_m]Ahaan[/name_m] more and motivated her to be a great stepmother to [name_u]Aria[/name_u] when she and [name_m]Ahaan[/name_m] married last year. [name_f]Coleen[/name_f] motivates all her students on the swim team to do their best and be proud of themselves and is on good bonds with all students.

[name_f]Gesine[/name_f] ’ [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] ’ [name_f]Vivianne[/name_f] Amrhein-Danby (16) is someone [name_f]Coleen[/name_f] knows very well: after all, she’s the best friend of her daughter. The friendship arguably happened because of the closeness of Ginny’s mom and [name_f]Coleen[/name_f], who was actually the receptionist to her divorce lawyer, and she spent a lot of time talking to the other woman while scheduling appointments. Some people looked down on Ginny’s parents due to her mom working a ‘lowly’ job in comparison to her mama, an oncologist; not understanding how someone so conventionally ambitious could desire a relationship with a woman more focused on motherhood. This is what caused the two families to become so close, as [name_f]Coleen[/name_f] was horrified upon hearing people’s judgements, given how materialistically motivated her ex had proven himself to be.

Called ‘the darling of the humanities department’ jokingly by her best friend, [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] loves history, religion and [name_f]English[/name_f] Lit the most out of all her school subjects; with a crossover between all three proving her favourite point of study. She thinks she’d like to study Theology at university - with an emphasis on the literary side of this - but is keeping her options open in case something else ends up taking her fancy. It’s her mothers’ who’ve helped her not rush into anything, and subsequently Ginny’s the friend everyone goes too when looking for advise, as she has a very measured, level-headed and pragmatic approach to most things.

The sole exception’s dating, don’t even bother with that. [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] isn’t experienced in that kind of relationship, nor is she overly interested right now. She belongs to the schools Queer Concentrate - as the club founders chose to call it, opposed to a ‘society’ or ‘club’ as they found those terms overused - not just giving her insight as the daughter of a gay couple, she’s bisexual herself; but isn’t too interested in pursuing anything for herself right now. Ginny’s great love is the family [name_u]West[/name_u] [name_m]Highland[/name_m] Terrier, Fidget, who’s claimed her as his favourite human and she’s never going to complain about that. She goes for walks with him accompanied by Coleen’s daughter often, and Ginny’s younger brother bemoans this more often. He’s only 6 though, hence why he isn’t allowed the same freedoms as his big sister, and so she’s learned that Lego construction is the best means of achieving his forgiveness.

Marlene Jeanette Amrhein (43) is Ginny’s mom and married to her mama. Despite her “nerdy” glasses, she’s been stereotyped for her “lowly” job as a part-time bus driver and part-time receptionist. Marlene is a smart woman who manages to juggle work but really supports parenting too, growing up with a mother who also had a similar lifestyle. Marlene’s mother was a former stay-at-home-mom before becoming a working mother due to divorcing her husband. She wasn’t used to such a change especially with balancing children, but she and her husband were still good co-parents and she found her dream job. Despite being in her 40s, Marlene feels she still hasn’t found her dream job yet although she knows what it is and she’s working towards it. She wants to be an author and her brother, a literary agent, represents her. She has two books, one is still in the works and another hasn’t gotten published yet but she’s not giving up and she’s always motivated to let anyone she knows critique it. Coleen’s daughter, an aspiring writer, absolutely adores Marlene’s story drafts.

Although Marlene doesn’t want to stay a bus driver forever, she enjoys it since she is the bus driver for Ginny’s younger brother and many of the early school-age children. She’s aware of ZeZe, a 5-year-old girl who she also drives and knows ZeZe can be “that rambunctious kid on the bus” given her tantrums but gives her animal stickers to calm her down and make her feel better. ZeZe is a grade under Ginny’s brother but considers him a “bus buddy” and has become good friends with him on the bus, always sitting next to each other and sharing her animal stickers with him. He’s given her some of his red Legos as a true token of friendship — red is their mutual favourite colour.

ZeZe was created by @GoldenNebula88.

[name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Winston[/name_m] Amrhein (38) is Marlene’s brother. He is a literary agent by day and an aspiring comedian by night. His love of making people laugh started as young as infancy, if you believe his mother. She claims that he used to babble like he was telling jokes and then wait for everyone in the room to start laughing. If they didn’t, he would start pouting and eventually cry.

He is close with his mother and older sister. Never missing their weekly family dinners with them and the rest of their small family. Usually making sure to take some time to check in with [name_f]Marlene[/name_f] about her progress on her latest book. [name_m]Patrick[/name_m] sees the potential and cannot wait to start pitching it to publishing houses.

Warning for losing a limb (not graphic).

Garret “ Gary ” Isaias Danby (38) is Patrick’s best friend and brother-in-law, being the brother of Ginny’s mama and brother-in-law of Ginny’s mom Marlene. He currently works as an optometrist. Gary knew Patrick from a young age and understood his humour as a young child even when adults didn’t understand the way kids try to write jokes. He now loves the humour even more now and encourages Patrick to send his old jokes to Kids Write Jokes. Gary is also into jokes and comedy but admits his jokes are very, very corny and honestly doesn’t tell them to anyone except Patrick. He’s even made some corny jokes on the loss of his left forearm, which was bitten by a shark when Gary was 16. In seriousness, Gary has no ill will on the shark, saying, “I wasn’t looking where the shark was. I accidentally provoked it. Sharks won’t attack humans unless provoked so I take blame and I’m glad they didn’t kill the shark that bit it off. Regardless I’m glad I am alive too.” Gary and Patrick are glad their sisters married each other and love being brothers-in-law since neither of them have a brother and they both feel like the brother they never had. Both brothers are close to their mothers and sister and Gary’s father was away a lot due to being in the military but just retired, having reached the mandatory retirement age.

Rousseau Marigold Hurley (17) is the best friend of Gary 's niece , Ginny and an avid supporter of her best friend’s mom Marlene in the goal of becoming a writer. She’s also the daughter of Colleen.

She’s an aspiring writer herself and to be honest really admires Marlene for her dedication to her writing and the fact that despite being middle-aged she doesn’t give up on her dream.

Rousseau wishes she was as disciplined as Marlene is - she mostly writes short stories because her longer projects tend to end up unfinished, hence she admires Marlene 's determination to finish her first book after just a little over a year - the story, a historical romance between Karl , a Prussian solider ,during Frederick the Great’s reign and Frederick 's female gardener Christine , who takes care of the exotic fruit in the king’s orchard seems a rather interesting concept to her and really captures the spirit of Prussia , which , while it no longer exists as a state or even a Bundesland (an administrative part of Germany) - is very important to Marlene who grew up on those territories , more specifically in Potsdam where Frederick the Great’s palace of Sanssouci still stands to this day, attracting milions of tourists.

Rousseau herself is not really interested in history that much and prefers philosophy - which is one of the main reasons why her and Ginny are such good friends, because Ginny is very interested in the philosophy of Saint Thomas , who was one of the first Christian thinkers of the early church - that’s why she wants to study Theology,

Rousseau herself is named after a French philosopher - Jean-Jacques Rousseau , whose work - particularly one about pedagogy , called Émile - helped Colleen greatly in preparing for the role of a single mom after her husband abandoned her for materialistic reasons. Later on Rousseau found out that her namesake was a hypocrite who left his own five children in a Parisian orphanage while simultaneously still trying to teach others how to raise their kids - to this day the girl feels conflicted about her name , but loves the sound of it and will absolutely yell at you if you shorten it to Rue .

Another thing that ties Rousseau and Ginny together is their love of dogs - they actually met each other for the first time in a dog park where Ginny was walking her West Highland White Terrier , Fidget , and Fidget decided to say hello to Ginny 's elderly Boston Terrier , Oreo . Because of Rousseau 's custom keychain on her backpack which had her name on it , Ginny immediately complimented her name and they started talking about philosophy & theology… It was all smooth sailing from there, even though Rousseau went to a different school and was one year above Ginny, they made time at the park together quite often and this led to Fidget & Oreo becoming friends, too. Rousseau also appreciated Ginny ’ s support after the devastation that Oreo 's death from old age left in her heart - although she admits that it was the smile of her stepsister Aria which helped her through it the most. It wasn’t until much later that Rousseau found out about her mom being friends with one of Ginny 's moms, because Colleen did everything in her power to protect Rousseau from the details of the exhausting process that was separation and divorce. Why would Colleen tell her daughter that she made friends with the receptionist of her divorce lawyer?

Rousseau loves children so she’s glad that her mom married again and is happy with Ahaan , while Rousseau can play with Aria and customize her dollhouse , allowing her to sometimes unwind from the stress of schoolwork and feel like a 13-year-old again. She’s also glad that Aria has the ambition to be an Olympic swimmer and now Colleen as her new stepmom puts a lot of energy to help Aria fullfill that goal. Admittedly , as a trainer Colleen tried to make Rousseau like swimming , but Rousseau actually does it only occasionally for recreation and cannot imagine ever doing it competitevely - something Colleen accepts and doesn’t preassure Rousseau to do otherwise because she knows that her daughter knows what she wants.

Having gained the experience with children through bonding with Aria and also occasionally babysitting Ginny 's 6-year-old stepbrother, Rousseau wants to become a children’s book author - her interest in philosophy makes her able to always add an interesting moral to the story while still keeping it simple through her vivid imagination which manifests mostly by anthropomorphizing pets or animals in her stories - her newest one is about a Panther who learns how not to be jealous of other animal’s more colorful fur and see the beauty of her own black fur , as well as the advantages that it gives her. Patrick as a literary agent sees the potential of this story and other ones that Rousseau wrote, advising her to publish them as a compilation of short stores, and idea that Aria and Ginny 's brother also love. Rousseau however struggles with imposter syndrome when it comes to her writing skills and compares herself a lot to Ginny 's mom Marlene , even though she won’t admit it . Mainly , she thinks that her writing style should be more polished and less chaotic, just like Marlene’s. After higschool Rousseau wants to major in early childhood education with a minor in philosophy - a plan her mom Colleeen approves of but worries that having both a major and a minor could lead Rousseau to burnout.

cw: anxiety, alcohol abuse

[name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f] Conwayn (17) is another member of [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] and Rosseau’s friend group, although they’re considerably less aspirational than both of their friends. Although arts have always been what [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] loves best - they’re a very talented metalworker, crafting sculptures with the help of their dad since they were young - they can’t help be a little pessimistic about the likelihood of a successful career in the field; heightened by the anxiety they were diagnosed with at age 11. There was no trigger or event to start this - [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] admits to their friends they wish there was some obvious reason for their stress, as it would give them some immediate answers as how to predict their onsets of fear - but it has become easier to manage as they’ve aged and come to view things with less intensity. Some people have asked them if being an adopted child influences their moods in any way: something that never fails to rouse their temper, as clichés and presumptions are never accepted or even vaguely tolerated by them. [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] always used to be someone who needed everything planned out, from their school outfit to how they were spending their weekends, but now they’re much more willing to go with the flow and embraces spontaneity; their ‘ex archnemesis’ as they affectionately refer to it now. Through these changes though, [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] has always remained a firmly supportive, encouraging friend who frequently works hard to stop those they care about enduring similar panic and doubts, having total confidence in other peoples abilities or working hard to help them find what is their preferred calling.

Instead of rushing to complete a degree, they’re going to continue working at a local animal shelter, having been offered a new contract which will bring them closer to working with the animals they adore; something [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] was delighted to receive. They and their family have long been associated with the establishment, getting all three family cats - tortoiseshell [name_m]Erasmus[/name_m] and tabbies [name_u]Rex[/name_u] and [name_m]Rollo[/name_m] - from there; spurred on by how much [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] and their mom both adore all felines, first noted by how their favourite childhood toy was a stuffed tiger named [name_f]Zoë[/name_f], who they carried absolutely everywhere with them. [name_f]Zoë[/name_f] was actually the first gift [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] ever received from their parents - prior to the legal adoption and when they were still being fostered by the couple - and she’s survived years of adventures, including swimming in the sea and rolling through mud; now living a comfortable retirement in Arrietty’s room, safely concealed among pillows.

Having been taken into care at two years old, [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] doesn’t have many memories of their early years, something that arguably has become a blessing to them as they’ve grown older. Unlike their best friend - a fellow adopted child who they met in middle school, by which point in time they were already close with [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] and Rosseau, even if [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] will never not question the duo over why they’d want dogs when cats exist [jokingly, they adore Fidget and Oreo] - Arrietty’s parents were actually in their early 40s when they were born, and their issues with alcohol abuse only intensified following a detox during their biological mother’s pregnancy. They were already being kept an eye on by social services thanks to a history of arrests, always the product of drinking, and in spite of numerous promises to get better for the sake of [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f], this never lasted. Shortly after turning 16 - a few months after coming out as non-binary - they learned more of their familial history, and decided to not make contact in the face of what they knew would be undeniable disappointment: their biological parents are no longer together and have overcome their addiction, but Arrietty’s social worker spoke to them about both individuals remaining immature and she feared they’d try poisoning Arrietty’s relationship with their adopted parents out of resentment.

[name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] has recently learned to knit and is currently working on a jumper for their little sister. She’s also adopted - their parents explicitly spoke to [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] about adding another child to their family, as they were worried about them feeling replaced or dismissed - and has just celebrated her 3rd birthday, a celebration [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] personally oversaw the decorating process for. They take her swimming, the only sport [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] ever enjoyed [not including dodgeball], and have bonded with [name_f]Ginny[/name_f] further because of how she’s several years older than her brother too; although they joke about getting to enjoy the cute, adoring phase of siblinghood and not any moodswings or protests of independence. In spite of their frequent sarcasm, [name_f]Arrietty[/name_f] has a very soft side where their family’s concerned, and even with their dry sense of humour being infamous amidst their friend group [their use of irony is as entertaining as it can be maddening], they melt the second they get home, regardless of who sees it.

[name_f]Blanche[/name_f] [name_f]Tzipporah[/name_f] Conwayn (3) is Arrietty’s little sister and the second child adopted by the Conwayn’s. Unlike her older sibling, Blanche’s adoption was agreed upon before she was born. Her biological parents were only teenagers at the time of her conception - with a fractured relationship and no means of supporting her, thanks to their family’s not approving of the pregnancy in the first place - who personally met with Blanche’s mom and dad, to ensure she was going to the right home. It has always been clear if they wish to make contact, this is possible, as unlike Arrietty’s birth parents, they wouldn’t attempt to unrest her happiness.

Apart from following her older sibling about - as Arrietty’s the absolute coolest person imaginable as far as [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] is concerned - she loves attending gymnastics and swimming classes; hunting for squirrels and mice in the garden, and doting on the family cats. These interests are only outdone by how desperately [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] adores being feminine and fairy-like. Mystical creatures and their secret world fascinate her, prompting [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] to make her own fairy garden with the help of her mom in the garden where her fantastical friends can visit, and her prized possession is a flower fairy book her dad managed to find her at a local charity shop.

[name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] has an older sibling in kindergarten and her mom is expecting another kid. Despite Phyllis’s mom only being in her late 20s she’s gotten close to Blanche’s mom and the two are good friends now. [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] loves her family and is close to both parents. She and her older sibling are the best of friends and [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] wishes she could go to school with them. Phyllis’s mom is adopted and recently connected with a cousin of hers who is in college. [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] likes them a lot and is always excited to hang out with them. Oyella [name_f]Patience[/name_f] Weatherly-James (28) is the mother of [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] and her sibling. Oyella was adopted by a couple in their late 20s who’d been trying to conceive for almost a decade but never could- she was adopted from Uganda as a newborn. Her family gave her a first name that reflected her heritage which she once resented (she’d use [name_f]Ella[/name_f] instead) but now loves, and even prefers. When Oyella found that she had a cousin in [name_u]America[/name_u], she was shocked- she took a 23 and me test for fun not knowing she’d ever find any relatives. Her cousin’s an exchange student, who’s at a very good school. Oyella hasn’t known them for very long, but she’s proud of them and hopes they keep doing what they’re doing and following their dreams. Oyella majored in childcare, and now works at a day care and takes care of kids all day which she actually really enjoys. Ironically, she’s a very patient person (just like her middle name implies) and has never once lost her cool in the day care, even when a child puked in her lap after eating a bunch of red crayons. It looked like the poor kid was throwing up blood, but Oyella reacted very well to the stress and heat of the situation, without any hesitation.

Oyella has one sibling, a younger sister who was also internationally adopted but from a different country. She’s actually met her biological parents- when Oyella met her cousin, she asked them about her biological parents- apparently they didn’t want her. When Oyella tried to contact them, they rejected all forms of contact and told her to stay away from them. Oyella was deeply saddened by this, but she’s glad she has her adopted parents and her cousin’s parents, her aunt and uncle, who live in Uganda. She’s visited them a couple of times and loves them to bits. As much as Oyella hates the fact that her parents didn’t want her, she can understand why they gave her up- they were going through financial struggles at her time of birth, and as painful as it is for her, she has forgiven them.

Apart from her work at the day care center, Oyella also enjoys hanging out with her friend group- a diverse group of women who’ve been inseparable since the first day of sixth grade. She also loves going outside- just going outside in general and being in the sunshine. And, of course, her husband- she’s very much in love with him, and they often remark that they’ve been in the “honeymoon phase” ever since they met, and will never fall out of love. Oyella sure hopes that’s true. They have one pet together, a white cat named Duchess.

[name_u]Murphy[/name_u] [name_m]Creed[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] (5) is the older brother of [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] and a kindergartener , even though he can’t wait to school next year. He is very protective of his sister and “wants another so he can be a knight for two princesses”. He loves playing dress-up and doesn’t mind being a smart mage or a fairy prince when [name_f]Blanche[/name_f] & [name_f]Phyllis[/name_f] involve him in playdates, but still he highly prefers hanging out with other boys in kindergarten, especially at the playground during recess when the kids get to have fun at the monkey bars or the swing. He has already convinced Oyella to buy him a backpack and some school supplies and everyday he goes to kindergarten with his breakfast , some crayons , marker pens and noteboooks in which he mostly draws but also has recently started to learn alphabet with his dad. He’s kind of fidgety and it’s hard for him to concentrate but he loves the [name_f]Junie[/name_f] B. [name_m]Jones[/name_m] books as much as his sister and always focuses when being read to by his dad - even though he wouldn’t admit to it before his friends who think reading is boring and their parents don’t do that for them.

[name_u]Murphy[/name_u] is a mama’s boy and can be very clingy to her , so he doesn’t understand what’s the deal with visiting her cousin so often… He likes the lady but thinks she’s a little too serious and no fun. [name_u]Murphy[/name_u] asks about the kids from the nursery where his mom works and thinks the story about a kid puking red crayons on mom’s lap is absolutely hilarious, so he tells everyone he meets not realising it leaves his parents absolutely mortified.

[name_f]Fleur[/name_f] [name_f]Alicia[/name_f] [Simmons] Simmonsbeck (25) is Murphy’s teacher . When [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] married her husband, they decided to combine their last names - [name_m]Simmons[/name_m] and Holbeck - as a sign of their union, as well as wanting to distinguish themselves slightly; Fleur’s husband is the youngest of five sons and so there’s a three Mrs Holbecks’ right now [and one ex-wife, who’s still on good terms with her former in-laws], with the only exceptions being her sister-in-law who kept her maiden name and her husband’s eldest brother who has a husband. Some people assume there must be tension - given the age gaps, children, homes, careers etc. - but the family are quite the opposite: wholeheartedly supportive and encouraging, without applying some critical or competitive lens to how the individual relationships work, while very much being involved with one another’s lives still. It amuses [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] terribly to see these assumptions presented to her, but she’s very happy to have avoided some toxic discord, as she knows she’d withstand almost anything for her husband, who she loves dearly. Ironically, Fleur’s own family is the more complicated one.

She’s an only child - with one maternal half-brother who’s a few years her senior - and her parents relationship stemmed from an office affair, something that created a lot of difficulties for [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] growing up. Not only did her brother hold a lot of resentment towards her as a product of the union that saw his parents split up, but she also witnessed the respective unhappiness of her own mother and father, who’s relationship fell apart due to the scrutiny and lingering shame that followed them. [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] does love them - they were nothing but caring, kind and thoughtful where she was concerned - but also tries to understand the fallout she wasn’t witness to. Her brother has reached out in more recent years, beginning when she got engaged at 23, but she’s still wary of him, as his hurtful comments and cold attitude greatly diminished her confidence as a child; forever feeling like people would see her as untrustworthy, selfish and duplicitous [as her parents were deemed].

Teaching was always what interested [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] and she knew she’d end up in it somehow. She tended to look after her friends growing up and takes charge of chaotic situations easily, perhaps a product of being demeaned when she was young and developing a thick skin. This definitely shaped how she interacts with her students, namely keeping adult situations banned from the classroom and never holding parents behaviour against their children. Unsurprisingly she’s proven very popular: starting when she was a teaching assistant but then growing when she took over her first class independently. Kindergarten is the ideal fit for her and she has no plans on switching any time soon, however [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] does think once she’s older - with some more experience under her belt - she’d like to work more with older students too. She can be a bit of a soft touch with the wilder kids, but strives to be even in how she approaches everyone, not abandoning the quieter or calmer students for the loudest personalities. [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] is just about to apply for maternity leave actually, having discovered she’s pregnant and not expecting one baby, but in fact triplets! This isn’t a full on shock to her as her paternal grandma was a triplet herself, however the change is going to be a big uplift, especially for she and her husband’s St. [name_m]Bernard[/name_m] [name_u]Almond[/name_u], who’s basically been their baby for the past 5 years, since their dating stage.

[name_m]Argo[/name_m] [name_u]Dane[/name_u] [name_u]Madison[/name_u] (29) is Fleur’s maternal half-brother, and currently on “icy“ terms. It’s mostly on Argo’s end due to him having to grow up with seeing the messy divorce of his parents and resenting [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]. [name_m]Argo[/name_m], a toddler at the time, thought the affair wasn’t true and his parents would go back to loving each other and be family with one another again. EHHT! Wrong! The affair was very much real, leading to his parents’ divorce while his mother had [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] from another man. He said some things he shouldn’t have and hates talking about it, but does just to properly own up to [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]. The only person who was there for [name_m]Argo[/name_m] when he needed it was a girl at his school that he befriended very easily. She was his rock and he even repaid her for saving her life…when he was 13, he pulled her away from an oncoming car when the two were crossing the street, preventing her from being hit. They even dated for two years when they were 18 until they were 20. She used to date [name_m]Argo[/name_m] and the two were a seemingly close relationship but she had been falling for another man. [name_m]Argo[/name_m] thought she’d be with him forever. EHHT! Wrong! She didn’t cheat on [name_m]Argo[/name_m], she broke up with him first, but it couldn’t have come at a worse timing — he was about to propose to her! He was leaning to drop down on one knee when she told him, “Hey get up, this is important. We need to talk,” before she admitted she was breaking up with him. [name_m]Argo[/name_m] never showed the ring or its box but he’s almost certain she knew he was going to propose, even if he’s not 100% sure. To make matters worse, Argo’s girlfriend dated the other man she was falling for very quickly after the breakup. And a kicker, they’re currently married. But the real worst part, the man she left [name_m]Argo[/name_m] for and married is a Holbeck brother! He wouldn’t speak to his ex-girlfriend after this.

He’s reached out to [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] once she was engaged but she’s still wary of him given his cold demeanour and is now worried he won’t be nice to her husband because he’s a Holbeck. Ironically now he’s the one who seems “untrustworthy, selfish and duplicitous”. [name_m]Argo[/name_m] has tried to be nice to Fleur’s husband but he hasn’t tried to bond with him or the Holbecks. He still wonders if sticking around to try and make things work or letting it go and leaving the Holbecks behind is the better option. Argo’s ex-girlfriend, who’s on bonding terms with [name_f]Fleur[/name_f], has been very nice to [name_m]Argo[/name_m] since Fleur’s marriage but Argo’s cold demeanour is getting the better of him and he still wouldn’t speak to her. Tables turned: he wanted nothing to do with her when she was starting to rekindle a friendship with him! He knows he shouldn’t be so negative to her seeing that she wasn’t a cheater like his mother and it wouldn’t be fair for either of them if she was engaged to a man she fell out of love with. Life goes on. [name_m]Argo[/name_m] resents his mother even though she loves him but he’s bonding more with his father. His current career is a co-owner of a bar & grille restaurant and his father stops by every other weekend, sometimes even more frequently just to see [name_m]Argo[/name_m]. [name_m]Argo[/name_m] figured nobody in the Holbecks would visit the bar & grille since he’s been co-owning it and he’s never seen them come in once…EHHT! Wrong!

@kitkatcookie @CherryBomb50 [name_m]Can[/name_m] I jump into the future? I couldn’t help naming the triplets lol.
[name_m]Ferdinand[/name_m] [name_u]Claude[/name_u] " [name_m]Nando[/name_m] " Simmonsbeck (left) , [name_u]George[/name_u] [name_m]Marcel[/name_m] Simmonsbeck (middle) and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] [name_f]Emmanuelle[/name_f] Simmosbeck (right) - born [name_f]May[/name_f] 22nd, 2023 , photo from [name_u]October[/name_u] 24, 2023 are the children of [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] and her husband. They are also [name_m]Argo[/name_m] 's nephews and niece.

They both recieved a traditional , " regal " first name and a [name_u]French[/name_u] middle name to honor [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] , for whom the pregnancy proved to be challenging and demanding for her body . However , her husband would prove supportive despite the pregnancy complications and body image issues that were the result of [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] 's C-section as well as stretch marks , which her husband would call " tiger stripes " to cheer her up - and it worked wonders because would always cause a smile on her face.

After the birth of his nephews and niece , [name_m]Argo[/name_m] became even more determined to rekindle his relationship with [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] and make amends - he has always wanted to be the "cool uncle " and naturally have children of his own someday , however the broken heart that [name_m]Argo[/name_m] had after the break-up of his cheating ex-girlfriend made him bury herself in the work that he had as the owner of a bar. By the time the children were 5 months old [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] accepted her half-brother back into her life because she knew how genuinely sorry he was for the harmful things he had said - knowing now that he’s mature that it wasn’t [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] 's fault being born as a result of an affair and also taking advice from his father on how to approach the topic maturely. He has a lot of love for his nephews and niece , always buying them presents and making funny faces back at them when they pout. He often jokes with [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] about how the triplets already have ther summer part-time job covered when it comes to working at his bar , which he’s truly passionate about and it’s becoming a classic and renown place in the area. He’s even warmed up to [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] 's husband and now knows that the actions of his brother and [name_m]Argo[/name_m] ’ s ex girlfriend have nothing to do with him - [name_m]Argo[/name_m] is sure he will never truly forgive his ex , but has found the power to move on from her thanks to [name_m]Nando[/name_m] , [name_u]George[/name_u] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - whose smiles and innoncence have shown him how much he wants to have children of his own and how the value of the family unit is a core belief in his life.

[name_m]Argo[/name_m] knows uncles shouldn’t play favourites , but he’s grown generally the closest to [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] - who loves being held and reacts very enthusiastically at her uncle’s peak-a-boo games , as well as seemingly loves being called " little queen [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] " by all family members because she always snuggles up a little tighter to whoever calls her that while holding her. Her brother [name_u]George[/name_u] is also quite smiley , but has a calmer aura to him and sleeps the most out of his siblings - especially when swaddled. [name_m]Nando[/name_m] , on the other hand , is the most fussy and doesn’t really like being the centre of attention - unless it’s mom’s attention , of course.

[name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_u]Charles[/name_u] Holbeck (31) is a Holbeck brother but not the father of the triplets, as the father is a Simmonsbeck. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] adores his nephews and niece [name_m]Nando[/name_m], [name_u]George[/name_u], and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and works as a party planner, who helped plan their baby shower. He relates to [name_m]Argo[/name_m] being unlucky in love during his 20s since he was the same way, although he used to dislike [name_m]Argo[/name_m]. First meeting him at the bar & grille, [name_u]Jude[/name_u] felt [name_m]Argo[/name_m] was an irritable jerk and hated how he presented and distanced himself to his half-sister and in-laws. Later he felt bad that Argo’s relationship ended on terrible terms for him and he was already feeling dejected by his mother cheating on his father. When [name_m]Argo[/name_m] was 20, he was abruptly broken up with by his ex when he was about to propose, while she quickly moved on to another man. When [name_u]Jude[/name_u] was 20, he was happily married to his high school sweetheart. When [name_m]Argo[/name_m] was 29, he was still bitter seeing his ex be married to her “rebound man” while he was alone and trying to get his half-sister to forgive him. When [name_u]Jude[/name_u] was 29, he and his wife just had their divorce finalised. It was amicable but he felt it went against everything he had hoped for when marrying her. Both he and [name_m]Argo[/name_m] are in their 30s and so far, having it better.

[name_u]Jude[/name_u] has no hard feelings now and he’s grateful his ex-wife, although not a Holbeck, is still friendly with her in-laws. It’s inspired [name_m]Argo[/name_m] to be warmer with his in-laws although he doesn’t have it in him to talk to his ex-girlfriend. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] knows his brother is not a bad person even if Argo’s ex ran off with him and [name_u]Jude[/name_u] has tried his best to bond with both no matter what. He also knows not to play favourites but the brother he bonds close with is the one married to [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]. He adores [name_m]Nando[/name_m], [name_u]George[/name_u], and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and is picking up on their personalities as they grow. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] thinks his brother and [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] are the sweetest parents ever and it’s made [name_u]Jude[/name_u] respect them even more. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though he’s in his early 30s, [name_u]Jude[/name_u] knows his thirties are better than his twenties so far although he secretly loves it when anyone still mistakes him for a 20-something. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and his ex-wife didn’t have biological children but on his 30th (and best) birthday, [name_u]Jude[/name_u] had adopted a young boy as his son, since he too wanted children and his son wanted a parent. Jude’s son has made him much happier and things are only looking up.

Tijah [name_f]Alexandrine[/name_f] [Phang] Holbeck (30) is Jude’s sister-in-law and the ex-girlfriend of [name_m]Argo[/name_m] [name_u]Madison[/name_u], as well as the mother of a cousin to [name_m]Nando[/name_m], [name_u]George[/name_u] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]: her daughter with her husband, who’s just turned 4 and has a Malay first name in tribute to her mother. Given the circumstances regarding her ex-boyfriend and his sister, Tijah felt a little uncomfortable around her sister-in-law, but [name_f]Fleur[/name_f] never let Argo’s opinions colour her approach to meeting Tijah, and the two are on very good terms; although they’ve made the choice to not pursue a particularly close friendship, as it would be a slap in the face to [name_m]Argo[/name_m] and no doubt bring on an influx of conflict.

The circumstances of her breakup with [name_m]Argo[/name_m] are something she feels shame over, having had no idea he was determined to propose until the moment came upon her. While she never said it to his face - as it would undeniably hurt [name_m]Argo[/name_m] terribly - Tijah found the relationship a little overwhelming. Things moved so fast she barely had time to process what direction they were going in, and in a sense, the attempt at proposing marriage finally gave her the clarity to stop things before they hurtled off a proverbial cliff.

She had no intention to move on quickly either - throwing herself into her studies as a means of coping with her guilt - but when she met her now-husband, there was an immediate spark between them. Tijah found him easy to confide in, and what charmed her the most were his listening abilities (an admitted opposite of her time with Argo). They got engaged 3 years into their relationship and married at 25, with [name_u]Jude[/name_u] being best man to Tijah’s husband. She’s an only child, however one of her cousins is practically the sister she always wanted, and they were maid of honour, while Tijah’s best friend was head bridesmaid.

Working as a counselor, Tijah specialises in divorce and domestic violence. Her work tends to be virtually based now she’s a mother, and she has been considering home schooling. This interest was spurred by her teaching her daughter how to speak both Malay and [name_f]English[/name_f], an experience that bought them even closer together while Tijah found it incredibly rewarding and fulfilling; however she doesn’t want to make any rash decisions when it comes to her child’s future. She and her husband also make sure to visit Tijah’s parents whenever possible - they live an hour’s drive away - so their daughter can further be immersed in her maternal culture, now being old enough to help her granny with cooking.

[name_u]Dylan[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] Holbeck (30) is Tijah’s husband and father to their daughter. He’s one year older than [name_u]Jude[/name_u], who served as best man to his wedding with Tijah. Tijah has opened up to him about [name_m]Argo[/name_m] and [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] personally felt awkward given the circumstances but he and [name_m]Argo[/name_m] don’t have anything bad to say among one another. What he was really worried about was Argo’s influence hurting his relationship with one of his brothers — the man married to [name_f]Fleur[/name_f]. He’s gotten some good advice from [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and his ex-wife, seeing that they divorced but she has been a kind individual to the Holbecks regardless. [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] secretly wants to make amends with [name_m]Argo[/name_m] since he never intended to make anything wrong for him and didn’t know about him at the time he met Tijah. He knows [name_m]Argo[/name_m] can be icy and isn’t ready to discuss this with him yet, but sees he’s “defrosting”.

This hasn’t taken away from his love for Tijah and he absolutely adores their daughter and special meaning to her name. He’s always loved his bonds with Tijah’s side of the family and found them a comforting source and is always intrigued by their Malaysian culture. [name_u]Dylan[/name_u] himself has a “boring job”, he’s an office receptionist, but he’s always laughed this off and isn’t the type to make his entire life and personality be around his job. He’s fine if others do it, provided they have a more intriguing career. He’s learning from Tijah’s mother about her culture, which he’s thrilled about every time, and he’s also learning the culture of one of his other sister-in-law’s as well. When he’s with his daughter, they love blowing bubbles and playing “fort” with pillows and blankets over furniture.

Maeena [name_f]Alexandra[/name_f] Holbeck [4] is the daughter of Tijah and [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], as well as the cousin to [name_m]Nando[/name_m], [name_u]George[/name_u], and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], niece to [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and her other uncle, Fleur’s husband. She’s a creative little girl who loves being apart of her mother’s culture and is definitely a daddy’s girl at heart as well. She hopes to be a big sister soon like her best friend from preschool who has twin little siblings, though her parents have told her that the timing just isn’t right. She’s also close to her grandparents and loves when she gets to visit them.

She’s unaware of the drama between her parents and [name_m]Argo[/name_m], as far as she knows her parents just sometimes mention his name, usually her father which tends to irritate her mother for bringing up the name around Maeena.

She’s currently working on a bit of a project for her upcoming birthday, she’s currently begging for a kitten since her parents won’t be giving her a little sibling anytime soon. She’s already brainstorming names and is currently set on [name_u]Coco[/name_u] or [name_f]Candy[/name_f], though if it’s a boy kitten she’ll name it after her favorite movie character, [name_u]Marty[/name_u] after [name_u]Marty[/name_u] McFly from Back to The [name_u]Future[/name_u], a movie that she was introduced to via her father’s other brother.
