She found it quite odd that [name_u]Julian[/name_u] asked her out so quickly after his breakup with [name_f]Stella[/name_f], but she quickly fell for his charm. There’s been talk about [name_u]Julian[/name_u] actually being a piece of shit, but [name_u]Cal[/name_u] doesn’t know what to do with those rumours.
As she had come out of an abusive relationship previously, [name_u]Cal[/name_u] would like to think that she wouldn’t be susceptible to another predatory person. However, if the rumours were true, she wouldn’t know what to do with that information…
[name_f]Dara[/name_f] [name_f]Anya[/name_f] O’[name_m]Connor[/name_m] (23) is [name_u]Cal[/name_u]‘s older sister. She is single and wants to remain unmarried and child-free. However she knows [name_u]Cal[/name_u]‘s past history in relationships and has always tried to get her out. She is a black belt in karate but does not use her martial arts for hurting people and uses it as a hobby instead and is not opposed to using it as defence. [name_u]Julian[/name_u] tries to avoid her and is nice to her whenever she’s around because he knows about her talent although [name_f]Dara[/name_f] has told people she never attacks first. Despite being seen as a tough individual, she is pure at heart and always makes time for her friends and family. She has already graduated high school and college but was Vice President of the student council when she attended the school [name_f]Stella[/name_f] attended so she knows what that honour is like.
[name_f]Annabeth[/name_f] “Beth” [name_f]Lily[/name_f] O’Connor (14) is [name_u]Cal[/name_u] and Dara’s younger sister. She is generally outgoing and acts rather impulsively, and she’s given her fair share of bad advice to [name_u]Calypso[/name_u] over the years. She’ll be the first to admit that she’s boy-crazy, though she’s only been in a few relationships because she tends to run boys off. However, fun and spunky as she is, she knows there’s a perfect someone in her future.
Her main interest is art. She loves everything from painting to graphic design to nail art. She hopes to go to school for something art-related one day.
Elizabeth Renee Waldon “Bitsy” (38) is the aunt of Beth, Dara, and Cal, and she’s also their art teacher. She has a special relationship with Beth, not only because she was named after her, but because they’re so similar; they’re both the baby of the family, they have a passion for art, and they love to do things spontaneously. She also adores her nieces’ hair. She always wanted red hair herself, and she jokes about being jealous of her older sister getting two ginger kids (and one strawberry blonde; that’s Cal’s natural color when she’s not blue or green or orange or pink or whatever color she decides to dye it that month; obviously, as an artist, Bitsy supports all of the above).
Bitsy loves to have fun. With 10-20+ years between her and her older siblings, she learned how to entertain herself with just about anything, and she hates being bored. She just recently bought her first house, and she’s thrilled to have a chance to paint murals on the walls. She’s single and content being so, “until true love smacks me in the face” as she says. She only ever had casual relationships growing up, so she wishes she had more advice to give to her nieces, who have all struggled one way or another romantically. But for now, she’ll just be there as the cool, spunky aunt who proudly embarrasses them with hugs and "I love you"s every day at school.
[name_f]Aoife[/name_f] [name_f]Valeria[/name_f] Larios (18) is one of Bitsy’s students who was referred to her by her own older sister, who’s a good friend of [name_f]Bitsy[/name_f]. This was due to [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] almost dropping art class at school - in spite of her dream to become an illustrator and graphic novelist - thanks to her teacher being very hands off and unsupportive in how he approaches things. The lack of feedback and guidance led to her feeling ignored, unappreciated and overlooked - an opinion shared by practically everyone, especially her best friend who she’s confided in extensively, and sometimes feels guilty for ‘burdening them’ (as [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] sees it). She’s known the other girl since they were only seven and they plan on attending the same arts school together, although they’ve decided on taking a gap year first, not wanting to rush into things after the stress of this year.
Coming from an Irish-Colombian family, [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] enjoys embracing both parts of her culture and is especially invested in Celtic mythology thanks to her mom telling her stories when she was young. She’s the second of four siblings with one older sister and two younger brothers, having good relationships with all of them…for the most part until someone borrows her art supplies without permission, then there’s hell to pay. [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] has an insta dedicated to her art which has been gaining traction recently and this has really helped rebuild her lost confidence, prompting her to begin posting more frequently.
Eábha ‘Evie’ [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] Larios (30) is a children’s book illustrator and Assistant art teacher in a high school nearby. She is engaged to [name_u]Sloane[/name_u], her long-term girlfriend. They have two kids together, one born via [name_f]Evie[/name_f] (Yvonne) and one born via [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] (Leroy) Their sperm donor is best friends with [name_u]Sloane[/name_u], so it breaks the tension a little. [name_f]Evie[/name_f] is into graphic novels, playing her electric guitar in her band The gardeners and looking after [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] (11) and [name_m]Leroy[/name_m] (3) , as she only works at the school on Mondays and Wednesdays
Dohyun " [name_u]River[/name_u] " [name_m]Son[/name_m] (18) is the best friend of [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] who is currently living with her. Originally supposed to be an engineering student, [name_u]River[/name_u] told her parents that she wanted to major in art— leading to a huge argument that led to [name_u]River[/name_u] getting kicked out of her house. [name_u]Ever[/name_u] stoic and aloof, she pretends not to be too affected by it, though [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] has noticed her best friend further retreat into herself. She’s taking advantage of her gap year to focus on her mental health and the toll her parents’ forced estrangement is taking on her.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] it wasn’t her original plan, [name_u]River[/name_u] wants to be a tattoo artist some day— a dream that became hers when her late older brother, who was a tattooist, had committed suicide. The letter he left her made her realise that she loved art and she must pursue what makes her happy.
[name_u]River[/name_u] has been in contact with her cousin, who is offering her a place to stay that’s close to her campus. She doesn’t know what to do; although living with [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] would be wonderful, she does want to be close to the remaining family that she has.
[name_m]Jamari[/name_m] [name_u]Khari[/name_u] [name_m]Ysidro[/name_m] (30) is a world history professor of [name_f]River[/name_f] and the sperm donour of [name_u]Evie[/name_u] and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u]‘s two children. He is a proud member of the Black community but is half-Latino, having a Honduran father who passed his surname [name_m]Ysidro[/name_m] (pronounced “iss-EE-dro) and is close with both heritages. He uses cultural enrichment in his classes and is a popular teacher for the way his lessons are used in the modern world. He is getting a sense [name_u]River[/name_u] is not doing well mentally but she does not feel like telling him why. [name_m]Jamari[/name_m] does not force her and instead respects the mental health of his students and does not ever punish them nor give them much homework and allows them to chat with him in his classroom on Monday and Wednesday evenings to talk about schoolwork or just life. Outside of teaching, he is a chill, casual, and friendly person.
He is well respected by both [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] but it took time before he was considered as more than a donour. He and [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] are good friends and he is getting along with [name_f]Evie[/name_f]. He hopes to someday be a family friend of the couple and their children.
[name_f]Allegra[/name_f] [name_u]Jo[/name_u] Goldriche is Yvonne’s best friend. She is 11 years old, and like [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f], has level 2 Autism. She and [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] hyperfixate on similar things and get along very well. She enjoys doing hair & makeup, gymnastics, & cosplay. She met [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] 3 years ago at school. Her mother met [name_f]Evie[/name_f] & [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] in an autism support group around the same time, which lead to a rather strange coincidence.
Hye-rin " [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] " [name_m]Son[/name_m] (21) is Allegra’s former babysitter and River’s cousin, who still maintains a good relationship with the Goldriche family now she’s moved on to achieve her dream of becoming a model. Lilac’s mother runs the autism supporr group both families attend, which is how she ended up being offered the job, as both of her maternal uncles are autistic and [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] has a great deal of compassion, patience and understanding of other’s needs. This is usually overshadowed by how appearance dedicated she is - always being labelled as shallow before she properly introduces herself - but Lilac’s managing to overcome her anxieties regarding this now her career’s truly taken off.
She and her parents were horrified when [name_u]River[/name_u] was kicked out - leading to a huge row between her father and his brother (River’s dad) - especially in the wake of her cousin’s death; a tragedy [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] often finds herself thinking about, due to how close she was to both he and [name_u]River[/name_u]. Owning a chic, two bedroom apartment, this is where Lilac’s offered to let her cousin move - although she knows it may not happen and has no qualms with this. Although she’s in a relationship right now, they’re taking it slowly and don’t want to move too fast, enjoying their space as they’re often travelling together due to her boyfriend being a photographer. What’s important to her - cheesy as she calls it - is seeing her loved one’s flourish, even if her mom points out that [name_f]Lilac[/name_f] doesn’t credit herself much in this vision.

It was found out last week that she is pregnant, and they used a different sperm donor as last time, which [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] is extremely worried about, as she was diagnosed with OCD a year after she lost her first child due to a miscarriage, and she finds it hard to concentrate and thinks it is her fault

His surname is a combination of his parents’ surnames Larios and Martins since the parents chose to combine surnames for their children rather than hyphenate. He is a sweet little brother ro [name_f]Yvonne[/name_f] and despite being the first son of [name_u]Sloane[/name_u], he is not her first biological child due to her miscarrying her late daughter a year before he was born. He does not yet understand miscarriage or OCD, and wonders why [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] appears obsessive-compulsive but assumes he should hug her more which he does. He has a few feminine qualities which [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] feels is her late daughter’s soul lifting him. He is friends with [name_f]Rainbow[/name_f] and loves playing with her dolls. He enjoys daycare mainly because of her but loves the other kids too.

Her mother was friends with [name_u]Sloane[/name_u] since their college years, so this coincidence of living close together simply brought their families together. [name_m]Born[/name_m] to a white father and Korean mother, [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] lives in a world of two cultures, something she’s a little too young to understand just yet.
She “babysits” [name_m]Leroy[/name_m] sometimes, often playing with him when their parents have get-togethers. Outside of their home, [name_f]Maddie[/name_f] is a child theatre actress, performing in her neighbourhood’s community theatre a multitude of times. Her ultimate dream is performing on Broadway, just like her older cousin.
Genevieve Ji-Ho Wilson (14) is Maddie’s elder sister. Her and Maddie are one of 5, which includes siblings like their younger sister Tamera. She is protective over her younger siblings, but acts like a baby when it comes to the eldest Wilson offspring who is 21 at the moment. Genevieve enjoys football, makeup and she has a fascination with collecting pokemon cards, which her boyfriend light-heartedly teases her about.

[name_m]Gideon[/name_m] Dae-hyun [name_u]Wilson[/name_u] (21) is the eldest sibling and who doesn’t mind being the only boy…for the most part. Currently attending college to obtain a degree in geology, the independence and space has been eye opening to [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] who’s thoroughly enjoying the new space, opportunities and people he’s meeting. When he’d feel a bit overwhelmed by being the only brother, [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] would confide in his dad, who got him into nature by taking him walking in local woodlands and fields where they could have some much needed bonding time. [name_m]Little[/name_m] did [name_m]Jeremy[/name_m] [name_u]Wilson[/name_u] know, he was cultivating environmentalist urges in his son even then…
At uni, Gideon’s been introduced to a new interest - DJing - and performs at clubs and parties on a semi-frequent basis, loving the abundance of socialising involved thanks to being quite the butterfly. Two of Gideon’s closest friends also attend the same uni and they’ve remained tight-knit through their studies, one of them coming out as non-binary which he’s been nothing but supportive of.
Right now he’s living with them in a large house along with three others they’ve met through college, and [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] has a pet bearded dragon named [name_f]Priscilla[/name_f] who all his sister’s insist on getting sent pictures of (and the other pets his roommates have acquired since they moved in). He’s in a relationship too but hasn’t brought his partner home yet to prevent her feeling overwhelmed by his hectic home environmental, instead enjoying time with her on campus where they can find the odd moment just for themselves.
