She’s a very resilient and sweet, gentle woman and from a very young age, she knew looking after kids was her passion. She grew up in a very big family as the oldest on a farm in [name_u]Indiana[/name_u], and looking after her siblings and cousins was her favorite responsibility, to the point where it didn’t even feel like a responsibility anymore. She’s very close with all her younger relatives, and she’s developed a sense of maturity much more than her peers- while other people her age are mainly focused on partying and drinking she’s focused on work. As a daycare instructor doesn’t make much money she also works at a restaurant, and she’s really good at being a hostess too, as she’s naturally polite. She’s very different from her fiancé, who grew up in a very different situation and never really did grow up- though [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is helping her beloved fiancé find a sense of responsibility and they’re helping her to loosen up more and not be so anxious, though it’s hard for someone so cautious like [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is.
[name_f]Lily[/name_f] and her fiancé are considering adopting a child that they’ve been fostering for a while- this kid actually is in the same daycare class as [name_f]Acacia[/name_f] is. While this child is very anxious [name_f]Lily[/name_f] has gotten them to come out of their shell very easily. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] hates loud noises and bigoted people, who she’s had to encounter a lot in her small hometown- she tries to fend off bullies and mean people but she often finds herself so flustered and confused and she doesn’t know what to do much to her chagrin- luckily her fiancé is very outspoken and can help with that. [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is very lucky to have her fiancé and foster baby, as they are to have her- [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is excited to expand her family as she’s always wanted a fairly big one, but she doesn’t want to force one kid to take on all the responsibilities of a third parent or a free babysitter, like she did…

Being much more of a free spirit, [name_f]Navya[/name_f] does a bunch of different things to earn money for their family. Her main source of income being portrait photography and modeling. Her art has recently started getting noticed on social media and she has used the platform as a way to speak out about injustices.
She cannot wait for the adoption to be finalized. It feels to her like the process has been drawn out forever. During childhood; he, [name_f]Lily[/name_f], and some of the other siblings were homeschooled by their stay-at-home mother until they were brought up into public school when their mother couldn’t afford to keep staying at home anymore. [name_m]Gage[/name_m] was 14 when he first attended public school and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] was 15. [name_m]Gage[/name_m] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] weren’t the only ones who had to adjust on the big family, their siblings and cousins did too. Some of the youngest family members weren’t born yet during this adjustment so they always went to public school and don’t quite know what it’s like for the older siblings and cousins. They felt weird attending public school for the first time but [name_f]Lily[/name_f] was always using her leadership role to help everyone else adjust, and [name_m]Gage[/name_m] is thankful for that. Thankfully none of them ever picked up on bad habits that some of their fellow students did, and stayed away from bad influences. [name_m]Gage[/name_m] is happy [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is now using her skills to be a daycare instructor; after all if teenagers had a hard time adjusting to being with other students away from family, imagine how hard it is for babies!

[name_u]Armani[/name_u] was 13 when she entered the public school system and had a better time fitting in than the rest of her siblings. [name_u]Armani[/name_u] hated being cooped up inside the house and dreamt of going to public school for the longest time, but initially going to a public school did cause difficulties— teachers had certain expectations that [name_u]Armani[/name_u] wasn’t used to but acquiesced to them. Though [name_u]Armani[/name_u] disliked schoolwork, she loved the environment— participating through a lot of student-led activities and ending up as class president three years in a row. Currently, [name_u]Armani[/name_u] is at [name_m]Brown[/name_m] University pursuing a Masters’ degree in the Literary Arts. It seems that the [name_u]Calloway[/name_u] family is artistically inclined— [name_u]Armani[/name_u] has published poetry from the age of sixteen and does not seem to be stopping anytime soon.

[name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] don’t have actual official [name_f]English[/name_f] names— in elementary they both made up [name_f]English[/name_f] names on the spot because they realised no one in the class had names like them. Though they use their legal Korean names for schoolwork and teachers do call them that (though most of them butcher it), [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and Bunny’s nicknames just stuck with them their whole lives. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] chose her name because borasek (보라색) means purple/violet and purple wasn’t a name, and [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] chose hers because Bona sounded a lot like [name_f]Bunny[/name_f].
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Bunny[/name_f], though they’re quite different, have something in common: they both love music. Their father is a conductor and their mother is an opera singer, but they both decided to go in an alternative direction. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] are two halves of the musical duo Bo² (Bo-squared) where they write their own songs and do covers of indie rock songs. They have been doing since since the 7th grade, even gaining a small social media following. They vlog their school days sometimes, [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] making a usual appearance in all of them. Both sisters have sent in their early decision applications to [name_u]Berklee[/name_u] College of [name_f]Music[/name_f] and are patiently (or impatiently, in Bunny’s case) for the decisions to come out.
People are usually surprised when they figure out [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] are twins: not only do they not look alike, but they’re very different. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is an introvert with social anxiety, preferring to hang out with her friend group only and shies away from strangers. [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] is excitable and sweet and does a lot of the talking for the both of them. This is because [name_f]Violet[/name_f] has selective mutism: sometimes [name_f]Violet[/name_f] goes nonverbal under stressful situations and can only use ASL to communicate. Though [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] knows [name_f]Violet[/name_f] can hold her own, she’s still very protective over her sister, insisting a lot of people to relay messages to [name_f]Violet[/name_f] through her. Because of Violet’s condition, [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] is a strong advocate for people to learn sign language: whether it’s to help someone who is deaf or if someone needs to communicate but they can’t. Outside of their music, the twins have started the school’s ASL club, giving lessons to those who want it and doing activism as well.
Violet’s noticed Bunny’s getting a little shy around one their friends, and is using KSL (Korean Sign Language) to tease her about it. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] knows it’s only a matter of time before she figures out who [name_f]Bunny[/name_f] is crushing on, but she likes teasing her sister sometimes.

Fionn Reilly O’Connor (18) is Bunny’s secret crush. They are the younger non-binary sibling of Aisling and Eithne. They’re a good friend of Pepper and supporter of her as valedictorian and hopes Pepper wins the valedictorian spot, especially since they hates Pepper’s cheating ex. He had been rude to Fionn and stereotyped them as a “slacker” for their carefree attitude and Fionn feels he’s a candidate simply because he’s such a know-it-all. Fionn is friends with the girl whom Pepper’s ex cheated on her with and both have a part-time gig teaching music lessons: Fionn teaches piano lessons and she teaches drum lessons. Both of them are also in the ASL club. They know it’s hard being friends with both Pepper and the girl Pepper’s boyfriend cheated on her with, but Fionn knows they’re both good at heart. The girl Pepper’s ex cheated on her with had no idea he had another girlfriend at the time and was manipulated by him, and she got a lot of hate for something she barely knew about, which Fionn finds unfair. Fionn is very musically focused and they love hearing Bo², also applying for the same college, but Fionn has no clue Bunny likes them. Violet hasn’t quite figured out that Bunny likes Fionn, but she’s getting there. Fionn is single and doesn’t quite know what they want in a partner, but would be willing to go on a date with Bunny if they knew Bunny liked them.

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] was under the impression that [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] had broken up with the boy, and decided to have a small talking stage with them. Once [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] discovered she was the “other woman”, she immediately cut ties with the boy and told her friends what had happened. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] has tried to apologise to [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] in person, but her friends have dissuaded her from doing so, saying that Pepper’s probably hurting too and wouldn’t respond rationally. She’s been talking to [name_u]Fionn[/name_u] about the situation, begging them to get [name_u]Pepper[/name_u] to understand that [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is really, really sorry and if she really knew about them still dating, it would have never happened.
Because of Elizabeth’s position as vice president of the student council and a president of another club, she’s aware that there are rumours spreading about her; most of them involving how much of a snake she is and that her amicable nature is just a ruse. Most of those who know her would disagree: [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is kind to a fault and her best friend, who’s president of the student council, says her kindness is what brought her into this mess. Thankfully, not a lot of fall out has happened, thanks to their positions in the school hierarchy. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] also is a grade below [name_u]Fionn[/name_u], [name_u]Pepper[/name_u], Pepper’s ex, and her best friend, which scares her when senior year comes. Her friend group is made of those in her grade, though, so she’s grateful for that.
Her older sister, who’s captain of the girl’s varsity cheerleading squad, has also been a big help in squashing the rumours. Elizabeth’s older sister is a lot meaner than she is, and despite the one year age difference, is incredibly protective of her. Her older sister has stated multiple times before that the only person that can tease [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is her, and that she won’t hesitate to yell at anyone who spits something untrue about her.

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] Haslett (18) is Elizabeth’s best friend and president of the school council, who takes both her position and close relationships seriously - which has helped weather the storm surrounding Pepper’s ex and his fling with [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. Thanks to being the year above, most of the chaos didn’t directly hit [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] (who, at the time, was dealing with the relationship drama of another friend who was considering ending a long term thing), but it aggravates her still seeing [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] vilified; especially as the guy at the centre of things has done all in his power to keep quiet and not just be honest about what he did to both girls he was seeing. [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] has considered confronting him, and she’s known for being quite intimidating when she’s truly angry at someone (a rarity for her), but she doesn’t want to make things worse for [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or end up making him seem like some sort of victim in the middle of this.
Coming from a small family - being an only child - Ruby’s always been clear-headed and collected; a little ironic to some as technically, she’s always been one of the youngest in her year group given where her birthday falls. She handles authority well, never abusing her power but making it clear she’s no pushover to be ignored, and wants [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] to be her successor: as she knows her best friend would maintain the fairness and open nature of the council once she’s pursuing her degree in journalism. This won’t be easy now though, nor does [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] want to push [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] into something she doesn’t want or feel ready for, and so it’s more of an unacknowledged reality now between them thanks to what’s exploded. Dating isn’t really a priority of Ruby’s currently - she’s never been that interested in being with someone romantically, prioritising platonic relationships first and foremost - but she has been asked out quite frequently, and this makes her wonder if it’s something she should be paying more attention to.
Her relationship with Elizabeth’s group is friendly but not especially close, and mirrors how her best friend interacts with Ruby’s group. Often her house is the best place for hangouts - as her parents both work longer hours now their daughters’ grown up - and Ruby’s very welcoming of this (although she’s clear when she wants space).

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] Meixiao [name_f]Liu[/name_f] (18) is Elizabeth’s sister and the person that bridges [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] and Elizabeth’s group somewhat. The captain of the cheerleading squad and homecoming queen (and probably prom queen, too), Eleanor’s your basic popular girl… at first glance. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] carved her reputation out since freshman year of high school— both [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] moved to their current school after [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] was bullied severely over her bad eyesight. After getting contacts in freshman year, [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] swore to herself that she wouldn’t let anyone walk over her (or her sister) again. The rumours that [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is “mean” came from her resting face— she can’t help but look displeased at everything. Eleanor’s best friend says she has RDF— resting disdain face— and she can’t help but agree.
There’s also the fact [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] isn’t afraid to stand up for people. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] follows “do no harm, take no sh*t” very seriously, and has called multiple people out when they’re acting unfairly towards another person. There was this video circling around where [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] nearly beat up a guy who touched her friend unconsensually at a party, and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] didn’t really mind the fall out from it. She despised people who preyed on weaker people, and refuses to be like one of those people.
The people closest to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] call her their strict mother— she’ll yell at you for not sleeping enough and force you to take a nap. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] get the brunt of this treatment: even though Ruby’s in the same grade as she is, [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] will force [name_u]Ruby[/name_u] to eat food if she hasn’t already. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] says there’s just a really tough eggshell around Eleanor’s soft yolk of a heart, but she’d never tell [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].
When she leaves for university, [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] plans on pursuing fashion design. Outside of cheerleading, she’s a dedicated artist and is vice president of the school’s National Arts [name_f]Honour[/name_f] Society.

[name_f]Honour[/name_f] [name_f]Renate[/name_f] Carvough (18) is Eleanor’s close friend and the person who was non-consensually touched, prompting [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] to reprimand the guy in question for his disgusting behaviour - worsened by his claims of Honour’s extensive dating history meaning he shouldn’t be held accountable. Having always been quite an optimistic person prior to this, [name_f]Honour[/name_f] struggled a lot with not just the memories of what happened, but subsequently the drama that erupted and assumptions made about Eleanor’s reaction. She’s spent a lot of time off school because of how anxious she became about the questions and rumours, receiving home tutoring in the meantime, but college is something she knows isn’t going to be possible for several years now - as new people understandably make her hyper nervous, even those she knows are inherently kind and decent.
Raised by humanitarian aid workers who now have founded their own charity based in Eastern Europe - where Honour’s mother emigrated from - she hasn’t lost her interest in helping others, and attends a support group once a week where she’s now in a mentoring role for the younger survivors, finding a lot more happiness being able to help others. Although Honour’s old brother has already asked to take over their parents charity when they decide to step back, she knows she’ll either work with him there or perhaps go into counselling - avoiding big decisions right now is something her therapist has advised to not force herself to do right now, and it’s helped significantly. Telling her family about things wasn’t easy for [name_f]Honour[/name_f] - especially as she knew her older brother would want to confront the guy, and if [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] was rough, her brother could end up in legal trouble for what happened - but it did lift a lot of the stress from her shoulders, and nothing terrible came of things as she’d initially feared.
What [name_f]Honour[/name_f] does to clear her mind is go on long walks wherever possible, or practice meditation in her room. She also plays the harp and bass guitar, and composes her own music as a means of getting out her feelings - although lyrics tend to not be needed by [name_f]Honour[/name_f] to convey her emotions. Her parents have no issue with her hanging out with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] still, and this is arguably when her softest side is present, as she’s very much in soft yolk mode when they’re discussing art or going to galleries, live music events or pop up shops together.

[name_u]Justice[/name_u] [name_u]René[/name_u] Carvough (22) is Honour’s older brother and Elizabeth’s pseudo-older brother. [name_u]Justice[/name_u] goes to the same college as [name_f]Honour[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and when he finds out what happened, he doesn’t react as [name_f]Honour[/name_f] thought he would. Rather, [name_u]Justice[/name_u] was very rational and spent most of his time comforting his sister. When [name_f]Honour[/name_f] wasn’t looking, though, [name_u]Justice[/name_u] went to the gym and took up boxing as a form of stress relief in case he saw that person again. He also reacted poorly (though this was all out of Honour’s sight) whenever anyone would try to talk to him about the situation— often telling others to mind their business even though most people came to comfort him. [name_u]Justice[/name_u] feels a lot of guilt for not being able to help his sister— he was at the party when she was touched without consent, but he was too drunk to notice anything.
Despite Justice’s intimidating appearance, he’s a double major in public administration and social work. Sure, he likes alternative music and dresses the part, but his true love lies within helping others. His friends often tell him that he’s so aptly named— a boy named [name_u]Justice[/name_u] with a strong moral compass. He’s been like this his entire life: [name_u]Justice[/name_u] often found himself butting heads with authority growing up as he always stood up for what he thought was right. What motivated him to take over the charity when his parents retired was that he wanted to be the adult he needed when he was younger. [name_u]Justice[/name_u] was often told that he was too brash and hot-headed, but now he knows he was right— he just went about it wrong.
At the university, you could probably find [name_u]Justice[/name_u] at the café— he works there as a barista. He says he likes his coffee black, but [name_f]Honour[/name_f] would know he only takes his coffee sickeningly sweet.

Junpei “ Jax “Akamatsu (23) is Luna’s older brother and Justice’s friend, who works as a barista with him. On the job, Jax is always the flirty, extroverted one- he wards off any intended insults e.g. “ emo boys “ with a why thank you, as he sees nothing wrong with being a bunch of emo boys. He’s always encouraging Luna to stand up for herself and never let anyone get to her- which used to be hard for Ajax himself. He was heavily bullied as a kid- in elementary he was the chubby little band kid who always wore square, thick-rimmed glasses and polo shirts. The other students would always bully him, and mispronounce his name whether it be on accident or on purpose. He played the trumpet, mind you- his parents were always proud of him no matter how much everyone else bullied him. Around 7th grade Jax stopped caring what others thought and went from Junpei to Jax, and started wearing thick, heavy goth makeup to school. He’s since toned it down a little but still enjoys doing makeup- he sees it as an art form and even offers to do Luna’s makeup.
Recently, Jax has started to find Justice cute, and thinks he might like him- he confessed to Luna about this, and she’s teased him to no end. Jax is pan and Luna knows that, she’s very supportive of him too, and whenever he has a crush on anyone she’s ecstatic, she thinks it’s the funniest thing in the world when her big brother gets all flustered. He’s told him band members- all of them, the indie band and the more grunge band, about his feelings and they all thought it was kind of funny that the tough guy would be so into someone- but in the end they all respect + support him. Now all Jax has to do is confess….

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] " [name_u]Clem[/name_u] " Xin-an [name_f]Lin[/name_f] (22) is a friend of both [name_m]Jax[/name_m] and [name_u]Justice[/name_u]. She also works at the café with the two boys, usually working with a bright smile on her face. [name_u]Clem[/name_u] is polite at face value, and she’s an absolute angel if you’re nice to her and your co-workers. If you’re mean to any one of them, you can bet that your drink might take a little too long to make, and you might miss class, or she’ll make your coffee decaf. [name_u]Clem[/name_u] thinks it’s fair to do so— they can’t really argue back at the customer (which [name_u]Justice[/name_u] finds stupid, and that’s why he doesn’t work at the register anymore)— they deserve petty revenge.
[name_u]Clem[/name_u], along with Jax’s sister [name_f]Luna[/name_f], make it their daily task to tease him about his crush on [name_m]Jax[/name_m]. [name_u]Clem[/name_u] thinks it’s only fair: when she was crushing on her current girlfriend, [name_m]Jax[/name_m] was absolutely insufferable, constantly wiggling his eyebrows and making kissy faces until [name_u]Clem[/name_u] confessed. [name_m]Jax[/name_m] has since apologised for his actions, but [name_u]Clem[/name_u] thinks he deserves this. Although [name_u]Clem[/name_u] likes teasing [name_m]Jax[/name_m], she knows where to toe the line. She’s asked [name_u]Justice[/name_u] about his taste in people and gave that information to [name_m]Jax[/name_m]— at the end of the day, she really does care about her friends, even though they’re little menaces.
[name_u]Clem[/name_u] is a junior as opposed to [name_m]Jax[/name_m] and Justice’s seniors, and she’s sad to see her best friends go. Fortunately, they’re not her only friends at university: [name_u]Clem[/name_u] is co-president of their university’s [name_u]East[/name_u] [name_f]Asian[/name_f] Student Association, and she’s close friends with the executive team. She likes that she can help international students from [name_f]Asia[/name_f] settle in the U.S as well as provide new cultural experiences for the student body. Her sister’s an incoming freshman to the university next year, and [name_u]Clem[/name_u] can’t wait to welcome her in, too.

Mahalia Diwata “ Maya “ Romulo (22) is the girlfriend of Clem. She knows about Clem and Luna teasing Jax and she thinks it’s hilarious, calling it “an appropriate payback.” Maya’s very witty and is at the top of her class, which her parents stress the importance of. She loves her parents, but thinks they can be a bit…intense? They want her to be the president of everything, and it’s a bit tiring for her. Clem always encourages Maya not to push herself, but her parents have very different opinions on the idea of success, and want their daughter to emulate it. Maya’s older brother is seen as the “ failure “ of the family as he didn’t do what his parents said and gave up on conformity, and he’s encouraging his sister to follow in his footsteps- but Maya is sympathetic towards her parents. Her father was born and raised in Manila, and her mother is a second-generation Pinoy immigrant, and they had to live up to impossibly high standards too.
Apart from all the tension, deep down Maya loves her parents and all she ever wanted was to make them proud. Like Jax, when she was little people would bully her- her father’s accent, the traditional food she’d always pack for lunch, and her name-kids are bullies. But Maya tried to not let it get to her- she has bigger things to worry about than some stupid kids. When she met Clem, she found her cute- her awkward charm and her sweet demeanor caught her eye. She was really confused as to why Jax was acting so weird around her, but she just brushed it off. Jax reminds Maya of her older brother, who her parents don’t even know she has contact with…
Like Clementine, Maya’s also good friends with the rest of the East Asian Student Association (while NOT being a part of the association because of cultural differences…)- she’s also captain of the Mathletes Squad and the volleyball team. If you go to one of her games you can see Clem cheering.
