Create A Family With A Twist

@wandering_willow , okay, uh, some inconsistencies

01: an 18 year old cannot be a president of a club because most likely she’s a freshman/sophomore in university and that doesn’t make sense unless she’s made the club

02: filipinos aren’t culturally east asian? i dont see why a person of filipino descent would be president of a club they have no cultural ties in. this is like a korean person being president of a southeast asian student association lmao

sources: i’m a student at university and i’m east asian lol

edit: also why is she dating a 22 yr old :sob:

[name_u]Noor[/name_u] [name_f]Talitha[/name_f] Sarraf (22) is a close friend of [name_u]Clem[/name_u] who’s subsequently been introduced to [name_f]Maya[/name_f], [name_m]Jax[/name_m] and [name_u]Justice[/name_u]. The older of two, [name_u]Noor[/name_u] met [name_u]Clem[/name_u] through her younger sibling - who’s non-binary - as they befriended Clem’s sister in middle school, and although the girls’ joke it’s a cliché, hanging out at Noor’s siblings party led to their introverted natures allowing them to click too and become confidents. Now, Noor’s more aloof than nervous - it takes a while for her to come out of her shell but once she’s comfortable you can see her dry wit and attention to detail; as she can always remember trivia someone’s told her about their life, no matter how small it may seem in the moment. Her nana, who only recently moved from Iran following the passing of her husband, loves to call it a superhuman ability of her’s and is also blatantly the most vocal supporter of her grandchildren (as Noor’s parents know she cannot handle overt praise without becoming tongue tied). While there isn’t an official Association for Middle Eastern students yet, Noor’s heavily involved in an online forum they’ve developed and truthfully feels more confident talking about her life this way; as through varying points in life she’s faced bigotry and prejudice, a source of pain she prefers to not address unless with specifically trusted friends, such as [name_u]Clem[/name_u].

As a law student who plans on specialising in child custody, [name_u]Noor[/name_u] also is having to learn how to be more detached in her approach to things as while she’s passionate about her future, she knows losing control has repercussions in the legal system. [name_u]Justice[/name_u] is surprisingly someone she’s become very close with due to her degree, and Noor’s done all she can to try and help him deal with his guilt about his sister’s ordeal, although she understands why it’s a recurring point of upset for him. Due to how they can both seem a little socially avoidant this has been a shock to some of Noor’s other friends - many of whom are humanities students, as she did consider history before law while in high school - but what works for her just works. The fact their degrees are also interlinked means [name_u]Noor[/name_u] and [name_u]Justice[/name_u] tend to joke about teaming up once they’re out there, qualified and working, but what she does appreciate about this is having someone she knows she can talk to and receive honest, good feedback from. [name_u]Clem[/name_u] and [name_u]Justice[/name_u] definitely see the side of [name_u]Noor[/name_u] that exemplifies why she wants to work in child custody: her strong empathy and desire to make sure vulnerable people are protected.

[name_u]Noor[/name_u] also has a habit of popping into the shop with snacks - originally just for [name_u]Clem[/name_u], but now they’re shared among the three - as she and her housemates eat ‘buffet style’ as they jokingly call it, where everyone contributes and there’s usually some leftovers. She loves live music - dancing, listening, whatever - and recently adopted a rescue tabby cat named [name_u]Shiloh[/name_u] (who’s got part of his ear missing and a tendency to sleep in her wardrobe), who’s joined the cat belonging to one of her housemates.

[name_f]Zariyah[/name_f] [name_f]Amira[/name_f] Sarraf (16) is the non-binary sibling of [name_u]Noor[/name_u]. They use they/she, and she’s been supported by all their friends so far which they’re very grateful for. Her friend group consists of Clem’s little sister and a few more people, who all love them very much. [name_f]Zariyah[/name_f] hasn’t came out to their parents though she hopes she will someday. [name_f]Zariyah[/name_f] sees why [name_u]Noor[/name_u] would want to specialize in child care law, as she’s a naturally kind and compassionate person- [name_f]Zariyah[/name_f] admires that about their big sister. [name_f]Zariyah[/name_f] is glad that her nana moved to the States because they get to spend more time with her but wishes it was under better circumstances.

[name_f]Zariyah[/name_f] is following in their sisters footsteps and is becoming passionate about the debate club- they joined with their best friend (Clem’s sister) and both have become very passionate about it. [name_f]Zariyah[/name_f] argues for causes she’s passionate about- gender equality, racial equality and many other things- [name_f]Zariyah[/name_f] is a vegetarian, so animal rights is important to them too. [name_f]Zariyah[/name_f] feels like she’s starting to like Clem’s sister…they’re trying not to let it show, because they see it like they have to be the tough friend and not show much emotion, let alone love. Whenever Zariyah’s friend asks them who their crush is, they get all panicky and closed off…luckily Clem’s sister and the rest of their friend group is very oblivious….

Ophelia " Lia " Yánwēi Lin (18) is Zariyah’s crush and Clem’s younger sister, who’s currently preparing to attend university, with plans to study a combined major in sociology and psychology. A little ironic, given she’s blind to her friend’s crush, Lia tends to pick up on the feelings of most people very astutely - call it her indicator as to why studying the mind and society appeals so much to her. She’s spent more time with Clem and her friends recently, thanks to preparing for her own welcoming on campus (that she’s both excited about but also hates the idea of letting her sister down by embarrassing herself somehow); and suspects there may be more to Justice’s growing bond with Noor than solely platonic feelings…but the same grape vine has told her about Jax’s crush and she’s terrified of starting any problems for her sister and their friend group. From all the breakups, makeups and fallouts she’s seen over the years, Lia knows matters of the heart are very complex and this is what makes her seem unapproachable dating wise - she’s turned a few girl’s down since coming out as gay, but is always striving to be kind when letting anyone down.

Lia’s current friend group spans across two years, with Zariyah being the grade below her. She’s going to miss her younger friends dearly - and is currently making them little memory pamphlets (as Clem affectionately nicknamed them), to serve as joking reminders to not forget about her once she goes. Several of the near graduating members like Lia will be going out of state to study - one of her friends is even opting for international in the UK - and she’s made plans to visit already, although she’s trying to keep things open as she knows uni life might get in the way. There’s a joke about her working at the same coffee shop as Clem but Lia is absolutely not doing this as she’s always been the sibling with a quicker temper and would not take anyone being rude to her sister kindly…so she’s opted to apply at a few thrift stores instead, as she’s absolutely a fiend for random finds of all sorts. Lia is also the only one who calls Zariyah " Zar " affectionately, and this is her nickname only folks; no-one else can use it…except for Clem and Noor, but this isn’t well-known as Lia has a reputation to uphold of course.

Justice belongs to @chamwue

Edita Evangelista Romulo (18) is Lia’s good friend and opting for university in the U.K. Despite her parents being overbearing on the family, it’s actually her part-time job that’s stressing her out the most. She works part-time at a video game shop and although gaming is her passion, her supervisor is rude and intimidating to her and the other employees. Edita is very stressed out but is a great employee, although constantly having to hold back on her concerns in order to please her supervisor and hopes this doesn’t happen to Lia when she works at a thrift shop. She is only having this job until she graduates and goes off to college and she needs the money, so she is reluctantly staying for the time being. She is Maya’s younger sister and doesn’t want to disappoint her parents so she won’t quit her job and sometimes enjoys being there just to avoid family drama. She’s also secretly close with their older brother and always lets him know she still supports him and that he’s not a “failure”.

Edita is happily single and suspects Zariyah may be falling for Lia but being friends with Zariyah, Edita won’t say anything as it is not her place. Like Lia, Edita is also great friends with students 1-2 years younger than her as well and loves Lia’s memory pamphlets for the younger students. Edita is grateful Lia will plan to visit her when she goes to the U.K. and loves Lia’s dependability of always being there for her friends. She is very excited to graduate and is hoping Pepper will be valedictorian of their graduating class, but unlike most of the students in her grade, she’s not super college-obsessed. Sure, she’s traveling to the U.K. for college but she’s also simply hanging on to who she is as a high school student and really just wants school to end for summer — being stress-free is what she always dreams of.

Marley’s applications were influenced by their desire to spare their parents some fees and they’ll be staying with their older sister while studying - a relief in a lot of ways as Marley’s always been the most rebellion prone of their family. It’s never been especially dangerous or concerning, just annoying as their dad will remind them, as it usually means working around Marley’s chaotic scheduling and lifestyle. Their major will be philosophy, and yes they’ve heard every joke about it, but the world is something that fascinates [name_u]Marley[/name_u]: especially how people process and consider it. Sometimes they can be contratian and a smart mouth, being the most prone to debating teachers, but this is endorsed by their family - especially their mom, who’s a respected prosecutor in both the States and [name_f]Austria[/name_f], where both of their parents are from (although their dad emigrated when he was two years old, which [name_u]Marley[/name_u] credits to their American accent waning a little on certain words thanks to being raised with two parents who sound very different).

Using they/she pronouns, [name_u]Marley[/name_u] became especially close with [name_f]Zariyah[/name_f] when she opened up about her gender identity, and their older brother is also trans - as well as being a student currently who opted to take the plunge and is in Munich for his degree. All five Weissburg siblings speak [name_m]German[/name_m] fluently, and Marley’s the baby of the family: their two eldest siblings (brother and sister) are both in long term relationships - one expecting a baby - while their sister’s settled into her new job as a dentist and their brother’s a student. The age gaps between them all are something [name_u]Marley[/name_u] actually prefers, as it stopped anyone getting in each other’s way, and their parents ensured everyone felt solidly confident as an individual instead of comparisons breaking out. They also got [name_f]Edita[/name_f] in contact with their brother about studying abroad but joke they’re glad he has a girlfriend, as their friend and sibling dating is something that would drive [name_u]Marley[/name_u] mad - they prefer keeping friends and family in separate groups thank you.

He enjoys the culture and history of [name_u]Germany[/name_u] as well as its proximity to [name_f]Austria[/name_f], his family’s homeland. He’s studying at the University of Munich, which has a 10% acceptance rate- though getting in was no hurdle for [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] as he’s very smart. He’s going to school to be an engineer, specifically a computer engineer. He loves computers- they’ve always just worked for [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]. [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] was diagnosed with mild ASD at 7 or 8, and he never really understood people or what they meant. He was always confused by social behaviors and conversation, as he could never hold a conversation for very long as a kid and he still can’t now. When he was little his parents wanted to let him tested but his teachers brushed it off; saying he was ‘just introverted.’ Freddie’s glad he was diagnosed, and he suspects one of his sisters that isn’t [name_u]Marley[/name_u] may actually have ASD too- but she completely denies it (despite [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] being correct in his assumption).

[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] was often bullied in his child and teen years, for being a “boyish girl.” [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] finds it ironic that he transitioned later, at around 14- his whole family accepted him and got used to his new name quickly which he’s super grateful for. Only the bullies continued referring to him as his deadname, but he brushed it off saying it didn’t bother him, despite it really hurting inside. Then, Freddie’s older sister (who’s aforementioned in this post), came and taught the bullies a lesson- she was a part of the weightlifting club and nobody messed with her, or her little brother. [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] was really grateful for that, and he’s never forgotten that moment of fear in the bullies’ eyes. This sister was the first to know about Freddie’s transition, and she gladly accepted him, even baking a cake for him after he told her to celebrate that she had a little brother- as she’d always wanted a little brother, even as a kid. [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] is glad that his family made him feel accepted- he’s on a forum that has service in all over Europe for pre and post transition people mainly teens, to seek mentorship when their parents won’t accept them or treat them equally. He has helped many kids with their identities and struggles, and is a moderator for the site to keep the creeps off.

[name_u]Freddie[/name_u] met his girlfriend in Munich- the two met at an Internet cafe and clicked instantly- [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] was so glad he could actively discuss his hyperfixation with someone who was equally interested in computer software and wouldn’t judge him or find him weird- as she’s “out there” as well! [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] came over to her apartment in downtown Munich later that week and loved the cozy vibe and feel of it- he even met her pet, a cream and brown pug named [name_f]Peach[/name_f], who’s 17 years old and still kicking to this day. Freddie’s girlfriend warned him that [name_f]Peach[/name_f] was old, cranky and didn’t like anyone, but to both of their surprise [name_f]Peach[/name_f] naturally loved [name_u]Freddie[/name_u]. The two talked for hours, and when [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] went home he felt butterflies in his stomach- something he’d never experienced before. The two are now happily dating- she’s also studying at the University of Munich, and the two couldn’t be happier.

[name_f]Sieglinde[/name_f] " [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] " [name_f]Alice[/name_f] Veitenheimer (19) is Freddie’s girlfriend. A resident of Munich her whole life, Ziva’s the eldest child of both her parents, who divorced when she was 4 and she now has a large extended family, including stepparents on either side, as well as a stepsister and three half-siblings (two brothers, one sister); but the blended environment she was raised in has been nothing but loving, supportive and encouraging. Being only 14 months older than her stepsister has led to them becoming incredibly close friends, in spite of their different interests and personalities - Ziva’s always been much more comfortable putting herself out there socially - and she was the person [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] confided in when her friendship with [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] began to transition into romance.

Studying programming at university, Ziva’s living situation is a little different compared to a lot of her friends, as the apartment she lives in was actually purchased by her dad with an intention on renting it - however he offered it to his daughter, as [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] had an awful time in first year with her roommates. There was constant drama, petty squabbles and accusations flying, with her being dragged in as a moderator due to how easygoing she is, and it began making her consider dropping out entirely because of how much stress she faced whenever holiday periods would end. It did lead to her only socialising with friends she knew well and trusted for a while - with [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] being the first person to really get her back out of her shell following this dilemma. Living with just [name_f]Peach[/name_f] has been infinitely preferable, although [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] would happily move in with one of her close friends if they ever needed a change in living circumstances.

[name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] [name_f]Luise[/name_f] Veitenheimer (17) is Ziva’s half sister on her dad’s side- a child of Ziva’s father and stepmom, who’s not off to college yet. [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] isn’t quite sure what she wants to do in life. She’s very confused about her passions, unlike [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] who has known she wants to be a programmer all her life. [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] tried coding but she just couldn’t get into it the way her sister did, though she always thought it was super cool how tech works. She’s very indecisive about college- she wants to study far away from her hometown of Munich but she doesn’t want to leave her family. She’s always been indecisive like this, when she was little she’d have tantrums crying over which stuffed animal she’d sleep with, because she didn’t want to make one feel “ left out.” Eventually she’d just sleep on the floor with all her stuffed animals because hurting their feelings was too painful to bear :teddy_bear:.

[name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] and [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] have always been really close, same with Ziva’s stepsister (who is Mathilde’s half sister). The three girls were inseparable in their childhood, but [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] always felt bad for her sisters because they didn’t live with both parents so they must miss the other one- however while the two girls appreciated her concerns they never felt that way. Like [name_f]Ziva[/name_f], [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] also owns a pug. Her father bought [name_f]Peach[/name_f] for [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] on her second birthday, so naturally he did the same for [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f]- only Mathilde’s pug is fully black, and is male. She named him [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m], as she’s always been obsessed with astronomy- she thinks she might want to do that for a living. She’s still indecisive about her future but she’s sent an application letter to Leiden University, which is in the Netherlands- but is well known for its astronomy courses. She’s told her parents and they’re ecstatic- but scared, what if she doesn’t get in?

[name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] has briefly interacted with [name_u]Freddie[/name_u], who she thinks is really cool and admires like a big brother. She always wishes she had a big brother, she talks to Ziva’s brothers on her mom’s side but it’s not the same. However, she likes Freddie’s intellectuality and she’s advised [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] to keep him- “he’s a keeper.” That was Mathilde’s exact words to her sister, and she laughed a little bit, knowing that [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] was right- she’s always been wise beyond her years and [name_f]Ziva[/name_f] always comes to her to ask her for advise, when she doesn’t come to [name_u]Freddie[/name_u] or [name_f]Peach[/name_f]. Of course, [name_f]Peach[/name_f] gives the best advice- barking is great advice for any situation.

[name_u]Richie[/name_u] is excited for [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] to go to college and hopes she gets accepted into Leiden University. [name_u]Richie[/name_u] has debated whether to go to college, get a job, or join the military and couldn’t be any happier he has more time. He does happen to enjoy STEM and is an expert at math. He can name all the prime numbers between 1-1000 and loves square roots. He’s a self-proclaimed “nerd” and sometimes has “Nerd Talk” with his siblings and/or friends which is where they talk about STEM-related topics that the average people wouldn’t understand. Lavender Breanna Abel (18) is Ziva’s stepsister and Mathilde and Richie’s older sister. Unlike her siblings who are interested in programming, astonomy, and other STEM topics, Lavender leans towards the arts. She often stands in contrast to her siblings, but it ways that are harmonious: introverted to match their social personalities, artistic to match their analytical ways of thinking. Her siblings often encourage her to put herself out there more, but she is content with her small circle of friends and her family. Those that are close to her are often surprised at her humor. She can say the most off-the-wall and shocking things and lets out the most satisfying belly laughs. Her and her siblings joke that she often plays into the ‘tortured artist’ aesthetic, as she is known to have pretty intense emotions and thoughts that play on a loop. She is also sensitive to random things, such as the way the her sweater sleeves land on her wrist, or feeling and seeing pencil or paint on her hands. She secretly believes she could be neurodivergent, but she’s perfectly fine with it, and hasn’t sought out a diagnoses yet.

She loves her siblings with her whole heart and will always make the time to be with them. She loves going star-gazing with Mathilde, and staying up late at night to have the most random and meaningful conversations with her siblings.

Warning for doping in sports and injuries from a car accident (not graphic).

[name_m]Harro[/name_m] loves coding and has always been the Brains to his stepbrother’s Brawns. Despite [name_m]Harro[/name_m] being in a blended family as well, his stepbrother is unfortunately not a good person. His stepbrother is a celebrated former footballer (or soccer player) who who was widely respected by his team. However he wasn’t an honest player: he was doping and cheating the drug tests to get away with it. Harro’s stepbrother ended up getting in a serious car accident and recovered, but was injured too severely and his career had to end. It was a tragedy for him but a blessing-in-disguise for his reputation because he wasn’t ever caught for doping. In fact, out of respect for him, his team retired his jersey number, having no idea he cheated his way into his career. To this day, nobody knows this secret, not even [name_m]Harro[/name_m]. Nobody else in the blended family were athletes and Harro’s stepbrother always said he’d never dope and if he ever did by chance, he promised he’d immediately own up and turn himself in. A promise he was never going to keep. While nobody knows the secret, he’s distanced himself from the rest of the family because he’s afraid they’ll find out somehow, and it’s made things difficult as no one knows why he’s not talking to them.

As for [name_m]Harro[/name_m], he’s happily into coding and his wife enjoys coding as well. While he’s always into tech, he hates the stereotype that techies can’t be social. He’s exceptionally close to his sister, the mother of [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and loves how close he bonds with her daughters. He loves that [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] enjoys coding as well and is always open to showing her. Mathilde’s parents had her at the ages of 18 and 18, and got married shortly after as both were poor bartenders who needed money to raise their daughter. They got diverted four years later, once both were well off enough to go their own ways in life. Both encouraged [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] to pick a more “sensible” career, like being a doctor or a lawyer. But Mathilde’s only passion was flowers.

[name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] never went to college, to the dismay of both her parents, and bought a small building and turned it into a sweet little flower shop that has daily customers. [name_m]Klaus[/name_m] is very close to his cousins [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] and [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and likes playing with [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] when she comes over. He is very interested in flowers like [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] and often asks to go with her to work. Flowers are a staple in their household and he always makes sure they have just enough water.

[name_m]Klaus[/name_m] doesn’t remember his bio parents as he was only a baby when they gave him up for adoption. He doesn’t think about them much anymore now that he has such a great family. He’s a great big brother to his adoptive sister and super caring. [name_m]Klaus[/name_m] loves school and has made a lot of friends. He plays football (or soccer) at recess with some of the other boys and is proud of his uncle even if he doesn’t get to talk to him much.

[name_f]Elske[/name_f] Auriane Schwartz-Hein (5) is Klaus’s sister and [name_m]Harro[/name_m] and Mathilde’s younger child. Having been adopted from [name_m]Quebec[/name_m], Elske’s background is French-Canadian, and her parents chose to honour this in her middle name, so if she wants to explore this part of her heritage, it will be easily acknowledged. Unlike her brother, [name_f]Elske[/name_f] knows a little more about her biological parents as the woman who gave birth to her opted for an open adoption, and she receives letters once a month; although it’s undeniably clear that [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] and [name_m]Harro[/name_m] are her parents.

The adoption happened because Elske’s biological mother had an incredibly difficult childhood and didn’t feel able to be a parent herself thanks to what she went through - and she’s incredibly happy the couple to become parents to the little girl are such lovely people. Some question the arrangement, as it’s admittedly unusual, but [name_f]Elske[/name_f] herself is absolutely happy with it, as she loves hearing about Canadia and hopes to go on a holiday there at some point with her family.

[name_m]Art[/name_m] is what her greatest passion is. She’s always making clay sculptures and for her recent birthday went pottery painting with her mum, something [name_f]Elske[/name_f] absolutely adored, and her dad likes to joke she’s decided ceramics will be her future. Compared to her brother she’s a little shyer around new people but loves [name_m]Klaus[/name_m] just as fiercely as he does her, and even if she has no interest in playing football, she’ll cheer him on whenever he’s playing. What [name_f]Elske[/name_f] really does want is a family pet - anything will do- and she’s very determined to see the family expand.

Uncensored warning for teenage pregnancy.

[name_u]Auguste[/name_u] [name_f]Franziska[/name_f] [name_f]Kline[/name_f] (27) is Klaus’s teacher and a friend of [name_f]Elske[/name_f] and her biological mother. She is also Harro’s stepsister but doesn’t like to discuss that with [name_m]Klaus[/name_m] because she and her brother have such a distant relationship. She doesn’t understand why her brother distances himself all the time from her and his stepsiblings and has always simply assumed it was because he was so devastated his career ended in injury. She has no idea that her brother cheated his way through the championships.

[name_u]Auguste[/name_u] herself relates to Elsie’s mother because [name_u]Auguste[/name_u] was not prepared to be a mother and had her daughter when she was 17. That girl is also into coding camps like her cousin [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] and friend [name_m]Johann[/name_m]. Auguste’s boyfriend at the time was there for her during the pregnancy but broke up with her after finishing secondary school and wasn’t prepared for the actual parenting part of raising their daughter. [name_u]Auguste[/name_u] disdains him but doesn’t focus her energy on him anymore. [name_u]Auguste[/name_u] has become pen pals with Elske’s biological mother and his happy for [name_m]Harro[/name_m] and [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f] being such good parents to [name_f]Elske[/name_f].
