🌼 create a family with a twist

tw: panic attack - not graphic but mentioned

[name_u]Brooklyn[/name_u] ’ [name_m]Rook[/name_m] ’ [name_u]Asher[/name_u] Ferryman (24) is the lead guitarist of Sephirah and the member who’s very much seen as the most mysterious by the public. This is deliberate on Rook’s behalf, as he’s someone who values privacy greatly, and clearly was the most overwhelmed by the bands ascension in the public eye, which he ties back to his childhood. [name_m]Rook[/name_m] and his older sister were frequently put in child beauty pageants by their mother, something he absolutely hated (and was vocal about), but it didn’t stop their mom from pushing her kids into the spotlight: in fact Rook’s opposition only seemed to inspire her more. She genuinely couldn’t understand why her son felt so uncomfortable and frightened by being paraded in front of strangers, and the monetary incentive unfortunately worsened her love of the pageant world. It was only when [name_m]Rook[/name_m] had a panic attack on stage, and attempted to flee the venue until his sister caught and consoled him, that he was allowed to stop - but the trust between [name_m]Rook[/name_m] and his mother has never been repaired, as she frequently dismissed his feelings, and still underplays the build up to this traumatic moment: especially how much she contributed to it.

Rook’s older sister is the one family member he’s remained close to and who visits the band on a regular basis. She’s now a successful model herself who’s constantly travelling and attending shoots, runways and premiere parties; but to their mother’s disapproval, it’s entirely alternative and avant-garde fashion, opposed to the glitz and fake tans of the pageant scene the siblings were raised in. A few times they’ve even been working in the same city and always attend each other’s events when this is the case. When around those he’s comfortable with, [name_m]Rook[/name_m] is a very sarcastic and humorous person, who loves making his bandmates laugh - especially [name_u]Dani[/name_u], who’s jokingly called his ‘partner in crime’ by the others; viewing her as the little sister he jokes was needed to terrorise pageant judges. While he can be quite shy still, the members of [name_u]October[/name_u] 32nd are people he opens up around a lot, and Rook’s also best friends with the frontman of another group: Happenstance - who was another member of the pageant scene disowned by his parents when he came out as trans. He’s highly against this world now because of how much misery it caused him, and what angers [name_m]Rook[/name_m] most is the denial so many people like his mother go into about forcing their children into things they want no part of. Still, it never stops him from playing dress up with [name_f]Alejandra[/name_f], who he absolutely adores and is teaching the ways of sardonic humour already.
