Her mother used to dance professionally but now teaches ballet to little kids. Violet’s dad hasn’t been a part of her life since she was five. She doesn’t mind too much anymore since learning that he isn’t a great person. Her mom is recently engaged, and Violet’s very happy about it; she’s close with her mom’s fiancé.

She still cares a lot about her ex-stepdaughter despite not having a relation to her due to Cyra’s divorce. She hasn’t spoken to her husband however since he won’t associate with [name_f]Violet[/name_f] anymore. [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] and Violet’s relationship is very loyal to one another and she never wants [name_f]Violet[/name_f] to feel unimportant. Anyone who wants to make her feel that way doesn’t deserve to be in either of their lives. Plus, [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] raises [name_f]Violet[/name_f] to be a strong woman herself and have a fierce loyalty for the people she cares about as well. [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] agrees [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] is a wonderful friend to [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. She loves how much the girls enjoy ballet and she’s proud of her ballet teaching career. While [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] teaches it to little kids, she strives against the pressure and stereotypes people have on the dance style - people act like it’s “just for little kids” or “just for girls” but [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] loves seeing anyone flourish in the talent.

[name_f]Cyra[/name_f] didn’t have the best marriage with her ex-husband. He was very greedy and would rather his family and friends just buy him stuff for their friendship rather than form legitimate bonds. He acted like [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] would be the same way and was angered when [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] insisted that they are not going to raise [name_f]Violet[/name_f] to be materialistic. He took offence and this was when he stopped associating with the two. On Violet’s 5th birthday, he did associate with her, but only to buy her a $250 gift card to her fave toy store. [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] let [name_f]Violet[/name_f] keep the gifts since it was Violet’s birthday after all and she could use the gift card however she wanted. But she disapproved that he wasn’t actually there for the birthday - he only mailed it to her with a birthday card. On Violet’s 6th birthday, a delivery truck came with a huge package for [name_f]Violet[/name_f] but [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] didn’t accept it and returned it to sender. She didn’t like that he wasn’t even trying to make a relationship with his daughter and this time, there wasn’t even a birthday card. [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] admittedly didn’t know the relationship he had with his first daughter and married the man thinking that he wasn’t a bad father to her. She just assumed by what he said that he was having a hard time raising her since he was just 21 at the time of his fatherhood to her, but now knowing the path he went through with [name_f]Violet[/name_f], she worries the same way about her former stepdaughter. [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] had been there when the two were still stepmother and stepdaughter and after the divorce, she promised she wouldn’t lose contact with her. [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] supports a bond between the two sisters and has a high respect for both. Although [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] hated how her husband turned out, she too would have a happy shot at love, now that she has a new fiancé. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is very important to [name_f]Cyra[/name_f], and she made sure he would know about the relationship she has with her daughter [name_f]Violet[/name_f]. If [name_f]Violet[/name_f] didn’t approve of him, [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] would have ended the relationship immediately. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] may be young, but she’s very smart and keen, so her support and approval to Cyra’s fiancé helped build the relationship stronger. She’s happy and excited for Cyra’s engagement and [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] is in a wonderful place in her life.

She’s also stepped into a new role as of late, mother-to-be as she’s currently five months pregnant. Expecting her first child has renewed her with a sense of of the importance of family, being that [name_f]Clemma[/name_f] doesn’t really have much of that left, she eager to hold onto what she can which explains why she’s been lovingly pestering [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Cyra[/name_f] to hang out a little more often now than usual.

Her own mother died unexpectedly when [name_f]Clemma[/name_f] was just six, during a simple hospital stay for the removal of her inflamed appendix. Her condition quickly spiraled downwards after her surgery and she soon died. Her cause of death was later found out to be due to the incompetence of a doctor who was working well past the mandated maximum hour limit set by the hospital. While [name_f]Clemma[/name_f] and her father were compensated financially for the mistake following a legal battle, things were never the same.

She often wonders what her father would’ve been like had her mother not left him a widower so young since she’s sure it contributed to his attitude of thinking that money can solve all his problems, but she tries not to get hung up on it too much as she’s prone to anxiety attacks which she knows would be no good for the baby. Her husband has been very supportive of her in all aspects, and particularly of her choice to reach out to her sister again. The girls weren’t very close during their youth due to their age gap, but since renewing their relationship two years ago, they’re closer now than they could ever dream. Clemma’s just as excited to offer [name_f]Violet[/name_f] the title of ‘Auntie’ as [name_f]Violet[/name_f] is to receive it. Clemma’s also been sort of half-joking, half-serious about one day placing her child into one of Cyra’s dance classes if she’s still teaching then as her unborn child has been quite the active little one.

[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] was personally affected by Clemma’s lawsuit, even though neither [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] or [name_f]Clemma[/name_f] realised the connection. Ingrid’s father was working at the hospital at the time when Clemma’s mother died and he was the one who caused Clemma’s mother’s death. [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] was appalled at her father and has little to no contact with him, she does feel bad because the lawsuit caused him to lose his job and struggle with mental health issues but she cannot believe that he took someone else’s life and she doesn’t want her kids to be around that - or think that it is okay just because it was an accident. [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] remembers because she was 22 and her father was 42 and she was in the hospital where her father worked and she remembers a 6-year-old girl and her father sitting in the hospital waiting room, crying. [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] was confused and she confronted her father and he told her what had happened. She has tried to seek out the girl and her father and she had absolutely no idea that it was [name_f]Clemma[/name_f]. This event had a big impact on [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] even though she may not notice it did. It was partly the reason she wanted to become a midwife. She wanted to help bring life into the world because of what her father had done.

[name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] has 3 children, a 17-year-old girl, who is the only one she has told out of her three children about what happened with Ingrid’s father and the kids’ grandfather. A 12-year-old boy, who already has anxiety problems so she doesn’t want to put the burden of this huge secret on him, and a 8-year-old girl who [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] wouldn’t even dream of telling because as Ingrid’s favourite quote says - ignorance is bliss. Ingrid’s youngest also idolizes her grandfather from the few brief visits [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] has allowed them to have to their grandfathers.

[name_u]Ever[/name_u] since [name_f]Ingrid[/name_f] told her what her grandfather did a few months ago, [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] has had conflicting feelings. She feels bad for her grandfather and the things he’s now dealing with, but [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] also feels angry with him. She knows it would be awful if her mom died because of someone’s negligence. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] has always felt for other people, so the thought of a little girl losing her mother was painful. She promised her mom that she wouldn’t say anything to her younger siblings. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] wouldn’t want to say anything anyway if it spares them from feeling how she does.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] attends the same school as [name_u]Tempest[/name_u] but is in her senior year. She knows her in passing, and they’ve chatted before. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] has always been fascinated by the medical profession. Helping people has always been something she loves to do. She doesn’t plan on becoming a doctor or a nurse, though. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is going to become a sonographer. Many people she talks to about it aren’t aware that sonographers are the medical professionals who take ultrasounds. They also assume that she’ll just be doing ultrasounds for pregnancies when it covers a lot more. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] doesn’t mind explaining and enjoys talking with people about it. Her boyfriend of a year also plans to get a job in the medical field. The two of them talk about their dream jobs often, to one another and their friends.

[name_u]Rowan[/name_u] has a big group of friends which includes her boyfriend. There are six of them, not counting her and her boyfriend. Most of them have been friends since kindergarten, although two joined the group later on. Because of differing personalities, there have been some rocky periods sometimes, but they’ve all stayed close. One of these rocky periods was at the beginning of high school when [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and another friend were running for class president. They admit they were immature in how they handled it, as both of them said things they regretted. He ended up winning, and things were strained between the two of them for a while. They’re very close now but still have a fierce academic rivalry.

Despite the larger age gaps between her and her siblings, [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is close to both of them. She tries to make time to do things with them. She appreciates that even though they’re busy, her parents have never made her feel like she has to do everything for her siblings. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is very willing to help out and frequently does, but not being parentified is nice, especially since one of her friends, the eldest of many kids, has a lot of expectations placed on her.

[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is the eldest of many kids that [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] was talking about. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] has 4 younger siblings and is left to look after them when Ellie’s Mother is at work and Ellie’s Dad is called in for an emergency at work. In no way are Ellie’s parents not good parents but [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] does feel that they leave to much responsibility with her because all her siblings are under 12, so they are not exactly the most mature and she finds it hard to control them. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is not the only one dating a member of the friend group. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and her boyfriend make up two more of the friend group, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] has also told her boyfriend about her being bisexual and he was really accepting. [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] does think she leans towards boys because she has only ever had crushes on girls and never had the courage to ask a girl out. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] has told [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] about her grandfather and [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] was shocked but promised not to tell anyone. [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] felt better after she told [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. Also, [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] feels conflicted by the conflict a few years ago between [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and her boyfriend over the class president and knows there is still some tension but she thinks and hopes it is mostly jokey and friendly because she knows her boyfriend can be very competitive but he doesn’t take it to far.

Chord Marius Haddon (17) is Ellie’s boyfriend and a member of her and Rowan’s group. He is the second-youngest of his family, ahead of only his 15-year-old sister Evie. The story of Clemma’s mother scares Chord, especially given his own sister Hope’s medical history, although Chord himself has never had surgery. He doesn’t have huge future plans like Rowan’s boyfriend who is planning on both college and medical school. In fact, he’s planning to get a job right after high school graduation. He even has an after-school part-time job already at a local Mexican restaurant but he’s wanting something bigger full-time when he becomes an adult. His competitive streak was from how his family raised him. He doesn’t have beef with Rowan, in fact they are friends. He jokingly tried to run against the class president for his position but surprisingly won, but he ran the school smoothly. He is happy but still, Rowan is queen.

He’s cooled off and feels better about the school now. Bullying has significantly reduced, which makes Chord happy given his girlfriend Ellie feels safer as a bisexual girl in school. Chord and the Rowan laugh off most of the tension now, seeing Chord feels the Rowan is a lot like his siblings. He likes Rowan’s boyfriend wanting to pursue a medical career and was initially paranoid of Hope’s boyfriend already “being a successful surgeon”. He was going to stage an interrogation and bring Evie along, but the two stopped dead in their tracks when they learned Hope’s boyfriend Raphaël is just aspiring to be a surgeon. Chord is chill now, considering he self-proclaims as an “adult-in-training” and considers Hope and Raphaël an older version of Rowan and her boyfriend. Chord feels he’s at a great place in his friend group and finds Ellie the only girl he’s ever considered a true girlfriend. He’s danced with a girl at a school dance before at 13, but there wasn’t really love in retrospect, it was just a 2-week-long infatuation. Chord’s only “infatuation” now as he jokes is making homemade fudge, which he loves to share with the friends. He and Ellie love going out on dates and enjoy double dating with Rowan and her boyfriend. Chord and Ellie do have serious sides to them and he tells her that no matter how hard dealing with her parents and younger siblings are to her, he will always be there for support and be her rock.

Vincenzo " Enzo " Giuseppe Ricci (18) is another member of the friend group. He turned eighteen last week and is the second oldest in the group. Enzo was one of the later additions. He and his family are from Italy, and they didn’t move to the States until he was nine. Enzo met Rowan’s boyfriend because they were next-door neighbors. He then got introduced to the group by Rowan’s boyfriend, who was a new addition too, having come from another country the year before. He’s always been especially close to Rowan’s boyfriend since they found common ground in moving from their homes. He and Chord get along really well too, both of them proclaiming themselves adults-in-training.

Enzo isn’t in a relationship and never has been, but he’s happy for his friends who are. He’s a stark contrast to his older sister, who has dated many people. She got married last year and has a baby on the way. Enzo is excited to become an uncle, something he hasn’t shut up about lately. Enzo’s heartbreaker shirt was a semi-joking gift from another girl in the group, as everyone except Enzo is aware of all the girls who have crushes on him. He can be extremely naive at times and can’t take a hint. After graduating, Vincenzo is going to culinary school, as cooking has always been his passion. His maternal grandmother, who came a few years after his family moved, and his father taught him how to cook. He is very appreciative of them both and loves making things for his friends and family. He and Chord can often be found making fudge together or other delicious dishes that mix Mexican and Italian cuisine.

He is very protective over [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], which she sometimes finds sweet, and sometimes it gets on her nerves because when a boy follows her on Instagram he gets really paranoid. However, [name_u]Harry[/name_u] does have good intentions and he loves [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] more than words could express. He could confidently say that [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is the first girl he has ever truly loved. [name_u]Harry[/name_u] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] & [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_m]Chord[/name_m] are the two couples in the friend group and sometimes it can be awkward for the the other four people. It is especially awkward for [name_u]Enzo[/name_u] because [name_u]Enzo[/name_u] is Harry’s best friend and [name_u]Harry[/name_u] sometimes feels like he is third wheeling with [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] and [name_u]Harry[/name_u].

Of course, [name_u]Enzo[/name_u] and [name_u]Harry[/name_u] bonded over the shared experience of moving house. Harry’s parents were originally from The states but before [name_u]Harry[/name_u] was born they moved to Spain for work but moved back again when [name_u]Harry[/name_u] was 8, and [name_u]Harry[/name_u] is so glad they did. [name_u]Harry[/name_u] has a 13-year-old sister, whom he loves, and shares a pet dog, [name_u]Oreo[/name_u], with her. [name_u]Harry[/name_u] wants to start his own dog rescue when he is older because his dog is from a rescue shelter and he wants to help dogs like [name_u]Oreo[/name_u].

Xīn Qiū " [name_f]Portia[/name_f] " Ling (17) is the 6th member of the group and someone absolutely removed from the dating world, so it isn’t a surprise to see her and [name_u]Enzo[/name_u] have become pretty close in more recent months. Portia’s best friend’s currently in a relationship as well, but it’s external to the group and means she’s given more of a break from witnessing couple time: a relief as she’s not the type of person who enjoys mushy PDA for herself, never mind witnessing other’s. In spite of this side of her, Portia’s never cruel or dismissive of her friends’ happiness, and it’s very important they’re happily dating one another [she just won’t be forming a third couple to the equation any time soon].

Having come out as gay a year ago, Portia’s dated a few girls casually, but nothing ever amounted to serious feelings, not that it bothers her. She and one of her exes both belong to the school’s Fashion Collective - ‘a glorified word for club’ her younger brother loves to insist, as annoying his older siblings is a mission - where they’re on good terms and collaborate often on design projects. Pursuing fashion as a career is something Portia’s been certain about since she was just 12, and over time - as she’s learned to craft her own garments, be it sewn or crotcheted - this certainty has only strengthened. Reflecting her Chinese culture’s important in this for [name_f]Portia[/name_f], who always brings leftovers from her mom’s traditional cooking for lunch, and she refuses to let anyone make insensitive or bigoted comments about these choices.

As the middle child of three - with two brothers - [name_f]Portia[/name_f] and her mother have always been particularly close. She greatly admires her and when she was little, considered her a superhero in real life: a sentiment she’s maintained, but doesn’t quite use this wording now she’s in her teens. Her mom’s a marketing manager who shares Portia’s eye for detail and perfection in presentation, with the two being mostly responsible for interior design at home [something that has driven Portia’s dad a little crazy when they decide to randomly move around the sofa’s to air out rooms], and Portia’s bedroom is meticulous organises by her. It’s not a surprise her friends consider it the best place for group selfies, as she’s crafted the perfect background with her plants, fairy lights and Chinese film posters and artwork decorating the walls.

He’s also in the ‘Fashion Collective’ which is where he bonds best with [name_f]Portia[/name_f] and the two love handmade items. [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] loves colours a lot and has a very colourful wardrobe of so many shades imaginable. His closet is even arranged by the rainbow! He loves learning about his friends’ cultures, being an ace at history and geography as well. [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] and [name_u]Harry[/name_u] love dogs and [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] has a rescue dog named [name_u]Blue[/name_u], chosen for his deep blue eyes.

Only [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] truly knows about [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] wanting a medical career however, and that’s because [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] wants to be a sonographer. [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] doesn’t judge her for her desire in that despite the fact that he wants to be a doctor or nurse because he knows she’s an intellectual. He secretly thinks [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] is smarter than [name_m]Chord[/name_m] but loves that their academic rivalry is all in good jest. [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] doesn’t quite know about the controversy of Rowan’s grandfather and he wouldn’t know how to respond to this yet he is understanding of his friends when they have secrets they don’t feel like sharing. Like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_u]Solaris[/name_u] is also bisexual and was very nervous to come out at first but is now exuberant and proud.

Delize " Leez " [name_f]Pandora[/name_f] Hempnall (17) is the final member of the group and fellow singleton, who a shares Solaris’ perspective: dating within the group would be an actual nightmare for them. Leez is also asexual-demiromantic, having recognised this in stages. Their only crush was a friend made at a creative writing summer class they attended when they were 14, and that stemmed from how this boy was understanding that Leez has faced certain restrictions and demands, thanks to their younger sister having cerebral palsy - something they struggled with in their preteens especially. The pair undeniably love one another, and Leez won’t let anyone bully or belittle their sister [having gotten suspended for a week when they were 13 after getting into a fight with a boy who mocked their sister], but he never judged her for the frustrations she encountered.

Unfortunately for Leez, the two lost contact in spite of trying to keep in touch. They were penpals for 2 years after attending the camp, but their friend was an army brat and with external demands facing them both, they found less time to communicate, even with texts. Their sister swears Leez needs to reach out again but due to their old feelings, they’re embarrassed by this, not to mention quite a lot has changed for them. Leez came out as nonbinary when they were 17, and some of their long-distance friendships crumbled when people rejected this news.

Known for never mincing their words, Leez is open about pretty much all of their opinions, although they’ve never belonged to any debate team or society, as they admit they’d find that sort of outlet too emotionally exhausting. They were able to hide their upset at people’s reactions better, responding with dismissive coolness as a coping mechanism, however they confided in their mom about the pain of this experience. [name_u]Trust[/name_u] isn’t something Leez affords as much now, although they’ve left behind their more standoffish demeanour and tendency to engage in verbal battles at the slightest of provocations.

Leezs’ dream is to become a writer. The genre? It doesn’t even matter to them ultimately, as long as they feel they can contribute something creatively inspired. Granted in an ideal world, they’d be centered on horror, having a strong stomach for gory subjects, although their preference focuses more on supernatural and psychological matters. This is something else that makes romance more of a moot point, as what time Leez has for themselves is placed in pursuing their writing, and spending a date watching them furiously typing away isn’t ideal for anyone.

[name_u]Keely[/name_u] [name_f]Athena[/name_f] Hempnall (15) is the younger sister of Leez. [name_u]Keely[/name_u] has cerebral palsy and has a limp. As she grows older she prefers to be in her wheelchair, since she joined a wheelchair racing team a town over.

[name_u]Keely[/name_u] grew up being bullied. When she was younger, she wanted to walk to be more like the other kids, but having a limp provided mean jokes for bullies in her class. Over the years she would change between her wheelchair and walking. When she was 11, a boy in her class made fun of her for having a limp and it sent [name_u]Keely[/name_u] off the edge. After Leez punched her bully, [name_u]Keely[/name_u] stopped going to school. She spent most of her time at home, stuck in a depression. Her friends tried to comfort her but she pushed them away. Her therapist asked [name_u]Keely[/name_u] to think about transfering schools. While [name_u]Keely[/name_u] knew that would be difficult, she wanted to. Her parents were hesitant but Leez supported [name_u]Keely[/name_u] and convinced their parents.

[name_u]Keely[/name_u] loves to wheelchair race. She joined a team “The Thunderbirds” in a town close to hers, and practices all the time. She loves all of the people on her team, and has some close friends. Her team has really saved her. Its nice to hang out with people like her, and she loves her coaches. At school, on the other hand, [name_u]Keely[/name_u] also has many friends. Her best friends are protective of her even though she laughs them off and calls them annoying. She also has a boyfriend who took her to homecoming. The two of them hang out all the time.

She has physical therapy often, practicing because her dream is to climb a mountain. She has always wanted to reach the top of a mountain and look out at the world around her, and she is going to do it someday. The prospect of reaching the top encourages her to practice and push her self. She also participates in lots of charity events, especially ones for cerebral palsy and the Wheelchair Foundation. When she’s 18, she’s planning to go to a developing country with a charity organization to give wheelchairs to people who need them. There’s a club at her organization for young kids with wheelchairs to learn about their abilities and meet other people like them. [name_u]Keely[/name_u] is an activity leader, helping out the younger kids and teaching them how to take care of themselves. One little girl she loves in particular always spends time by her side, and they spend a lot of time together. When she was younger she never thought she’d want to be associated with her disability and her wheelchair, but now she’s proud of it! Her plan for the future is to become a teacher, continue doing charity, and explore the world.

Shayauna Josephine Marlowe (39) is Keely’s science teacher, and is also the aunt of Keely’s boyfriend. She visits her nephew and his family a lot, and therefore sees a lot of Keely and has a soft spot for her. She knows what it’s like to be bullied since she was considered a nerd back in the days when it definitely wasn’t cool, and there was a particular group of popular girls at her school that just didn’t know how to be nice to those who were different, you know? She went a couple years without friends, then found a niche like Keely did, but not in athletics; in jazz band. She played the french horn and still takes the instrument out of its case every now and then. It’s something she does to stay close to her mom, Valerie, who also played the french horn and passed away when Shay was 16. Since her dad died when she was a baby, Shayauna lived with her Aunt Carol for the rest of high school and the first 2 years of college. Shay plans to honor both Carol and Valerie somehow when her baby is born. She’s only 2 months along, so her students don’t know yet.

[name_f]Kiera[/name_f] [name_u]Marie[/name_u] [name_m]Jones[/name_m] (24) is Shayauna’s youngest sister’s closest friend, and they have known each other since they were little girls growing up in the same neighborhood. While [name_u]Keely[/name_u] has found a niche in sports, [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] has always been passionate about writing, and currently works as a freelance journalist. [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] has always been like a little sister to Shayauna’s sister, and when her own sister passed away a few years ago, Shayauna’s sister became even more determined to be there for [name_f]Kiera[/name_f]. They love going to the movies together and trying new restaurants in the city. [name_f]Kiera[/name_f] is engaged to be married next year and Shayauna’s sister couldn’t be more excited to be her maid of honor.
