Elon Musk and Grimes (Claire Boucher)'s Baby

I’ve been a follower of celebrity baby names for a while but this takes the cake!

[name_u]Elon[/name_u] Musk and Grimes welcomed a son…

X Æ A-12 Musk

There are a lot of theories out there including that it is pronounced “[name_u]Kyle[/name_u]” or “[name_m]Kash[/name_m] Archangel” but it definitely looks like a bit of a joke.

Anyway, how do you all read it? Or what would you have named the baby in their place?

Iam in shock with that name! Some people said that the pronunciation is [name_u]Ash[/name_u] Archangel but I dont know if thats true. I wish they had spelled it that way. It would have been a very cool name.

Though knowing Grimes and [name_u]Elon[/name_u], Iam not surprised at all they choose that name :joy:

I saw that it’s possibly pronounced [name_u]Sasha[/name_u] Archangel?

But yeah, we’ve found the contender for worst celebrity baby name. Nothing else will ever top this.

[name_m]Can[/name_m] someone please explain how you get “archangel” out of this?? I’m so confused, and really do feel bad for that poor child!

[name_m]Don[/name_m]'t say that… someone will definitely try :joy::joy:

It’s a reference to the Lockheed A-12 aircraft, according to a post on Twitter explaining the meaning. The series is internally called “Archangel”.
X stands for the unknown variable.
The AE ligature stands for AI (Artificial intelligence or love in Japanese).

Still, how is this name allowed legally? And how do you pronounce the thing? I don’t know if they thought this through haha.

I saw that in the state of [name_u]California[/name_u] they aren’t allowed to legally name their child that. Only the 26 letters of the [name_f]English[/name_f] alphabet are allowed.

Thanks so much for your explanation!! I don’t know if they thought it through either…

So Grimes replied on insta that she pronounces the babys name like “just X like the letter X. Then A.I. like how you said the letter A then I.” :woman_shrugging:t2:

Oh I though they were pronouncing it as [name_u]Ash[/name_u], which I was a little more down for…

So Ex-ay-eye? Shame, I secretly rather loved [name_u]Ash[/name_u] Archangel!

I feel like they named their child [name_u]Ash[/name_u] Archangel or X or something but wanted to keep the legal name somewhat of a mystery for the time being. “A-12” can’t legally go on the birth certificate as far as I know.

[name_u]Elon[/name_u] Musk said a different pronunciation of the name than Grimes. All this thing is so so weird.

According to him the pronunciation is X [name_u]Ash[/name_u] A 12. Where X is just X and A 12 is A 12.:woman_shrugging:t2:

So, baby’s name is either pronounced

X A.I. A Twelve (according to Grimes)
or
X [name_u]Ash[/name_u] A Twelve (according to [name_u]Elon[/name_u])

Either way, it’s certainly a mouthful. And doesn’t seem entirely allowed.

I wonder if they’ll just call him X?

UPDATE
I just saw an article that since legally Musk’s son is not allowed to be name X AE A-12 in the state of [name_u]California[/name_u], they have decided to change it to [name_u]Glen[/name_u].

[name_u]Glen[/name_u]?!

Here’s the article I saw that they renamed him [name_u]Glen[/name_u]. I don’t follow any of them on social media so I’m not sure it’s true but it’s the rumor that’s going around.

I believe the author was being ironic in that article. There’s no indication elsewhere that this is true.

If I were them I might just go with [name_u]Ash[/name_u] or X as a first name and leave the AE A-12 off. [name_u]Kai[/name_u] would also be perfectly lovely (except [name_u]Elon[/name_u] has a son named [name_u]Kai[/name_u] already).

Oh okay, my mistake.

I really like [name_u]Ash[/name_u] and I think it works well with Musk’s other kids’ names.
