Hi everyone!
Do you prefer the name Emmeline or Giselle?
I’m also curious what kind of vibes each of the two names gives you :)) how would you describe an Emmeline or a Giselle to be like?
Hi everyone!
Do you prefer the name Emmeline or Giselle?
I’m also curious what kind of vibes each of the two names gives you :)) how would you describe an Emmeline or a Giselle to be like?
I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] the most It’s actually on our short list! It gives me classic vintage vibes, but more original and fresh
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is gingham, hanging laundry out to dry on a warm spring day, daisies, and the month of [name_f]May[/name_f].
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f] is singing in the palace hallways, tapestry rugs, riding horses through the royal meadows, and winter-almost-spring.
I think I like [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] more for its fiery, exotic feel but [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is sweet and cozy. Really depends on what vibe you want!
I prefer [name_f]Giselle[/name_f]. [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] reminds me of orange, autumn, and books.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] for me - sleek, elegant and pretty
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f] is okay, I just find it a bit sticky, like melted ice cream
They’re both classics which feels very modern.
I prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. It’s quite serious, a bit romantic, lilac coloured, very clean.
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f] is operatic and coquettish. A summery name. Makes me think of gazelles. I voted against it because in [name_f]English[/name_f], the first syllable comes out as “jizz”, which I’d avoid at all costs.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is definitely my favourite
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is beautiful such an elegant classic name with a visually gorgeous look to her. I adore the nickname [name_f]Emmy[/name_f] as well. I also love the Pankhurst association. [name_f]Imagery[/name_f] wise I picture spring days, daisies and sunflowers, walking through meadows and a feeling of peace.
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f] has never appealed to me I think she’s got mean girl vibes and I dislike the meaning hostage. [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] really just doesn’t appeal to me.
emmeline is my favorite!
emmeline:
giselle:
It depends on how [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is pronounced. I would rank them:
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] “-line”
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f]
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] “-leen”
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] “-lyn”
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] feels more
And [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] feels
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is sweet . I don’t love the spelling or sound of [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] although it does seem like a princess or elegance name.
I love both names. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] (een) and [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] (soft g). [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] because it’s so old-fashioned and sweet wlithout being sappy. [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] is the name of my favorite ballet, something I associate with tragic elegance. (I saw [name_f]Margot[/name_f] Fonteyn as Giselle.)
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] -
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f] -
I love both, [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] just doesn’t work in my language since ‘emme’ means ‘mommy’. [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] is romantic, vintage, cottagecore. [name_u]Sunny[/name_u] vibes. I imagine she would love [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] novels and she would wear a lovely little linen dress with an apron. [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] is romantic in a balletic royalcore way. A bit more posh? Maybe she would even live in a castle. She’d be a bit more girly and more into pretty dresses than [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I think they would make a dreamy sibset. I have loved [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] for ages, but I prefer Gisèle since it looks less like a gazelle (not a bad thing in my book, but still). I heard about the ‘jizz’ slang for the first time in [name_f]April[/name_f] when I joined Nameberry.
I love these descriptions!!
I slightly prefer Emmeline, to me it’s suffragettes and straw hats, white lace and old photographs. Giselle is very pretty and lively, princessy and balletic.
I like [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] best as a first name, but I am quite fond of [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], too! I imagine [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] to be sweet and artsy, loves her piano lessons and painting and creating stories for her dolls and stuffed animals in beautiful meadows and is gentle-spirited and kind. [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] I see a bit more like a free spirit, independent and artistic, maybe a tiny bit sarcastic. I read a novel with a [name_u]French[/name_u] [name_f]Gisele[/name_f] several years ago, she was spirited, fierce, passionate, fought for the underdog, fought for what is right, and was fiercely devoted to her family. I also came across a sweet little Giselly from [name_u]Brazil[/name_u] several years ago, so it reminds me of [name_u]Brazil[/name_u] and also makes me feel nostalgic and homey - [name_u]Brazil[/name_u] is the home of my heart haha. [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] feels a bit stronger to me and [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] more sweet, but they’re both truly lovely names!
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] would be a great name together LOL!
I like [name_f]Giselle[/name_f]. There’s something about the less-common name and so much elegance. [name_f]Giselle[/name_f] makes me think ‘graceful, refined, soft yet strong.’
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
Oh both are pretty but I typically don’t love j sounds so I prefer [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]
For [name_f]Giselle[/name_f], I think of gazelles (I actually prefer [name_f]Gazelle[/name_f] as a name over Giselle) and the disney movie Enchanted but outside of that I think more of a seductive haughty wealthy person - ig like a femme fatale?
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] I think more of a sweet kind child frolicking in the meadows
You so right. That’s what I had in mind too lol
[name_f]Giselle[/name_f] for me !! I think it feels modern and fresh. For the past 20 years I feel like we have seen a lot of [name_f]Em[/name_f] names
Coming back to say that we just discovered that the last syllable of [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] rhymes with our last name, so it’s off the table for us It was one of my Top 2 names for this baby. That being said, I really hope you get to use it!!
