Explain Your Signature/Combinations

I often see people’s signature/combinations and think “Wow, how did they come up with that?” So I would love to know the reason behind everyone’s signature/combinations. For example, most of the names in my signature are from my family tree, I love researching about my family history particularly because I live in Australia and the way that people arrived here is just amazing (For instance, on my mothers side is total convict bombardment and on my father’s side, I’m more royal than the one currently on the British Monarchy throne!)

I’ll get the ball rolling!!

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Joan[/name_u]: [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] comes from my fascination of Greek Goddesses, [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is the goddess of the dawn and has always been my number 1 choice if I ever have a girl. [name_u]Joan[/name_u] is my maternal grandmother/best friend all in the one person’s name. She is my hero and I can not imagine my life without her in it!!

[name_f]Edie[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]: Sticking with the maternal relatives, [name_f]Edie[/name_f] was a nickname for [name_u]Joan[/name_u]'s mother, [name_f]Edith[/name_f]. [name_f]Edith[/name_f]'s mother was [name_f]Clara[/name_f] so you get the idea.

[name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f]: [name_f]Norah[/name_f] is actually after a holiday destination I use to go as a child ([name_f]Norah[/name_f] Head). I took my husband here and he fell in love with the place. [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] was my mother’s cousin, who fought so bravely with breast cancer. She was the most intelligent person I have ever/will ever meet.

[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] Serephina: [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] is after my mothers paternal great-aunt (still with me…), although my mother wasn’t a fan of her I love her name and it’s an added bonus that she’s in my family tree. Serephina doesn’t have any family connections that I’m aware of, it just flows nicely with [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].

[name_f]Odette[/name_f] [name_f]Aubree[/name_f]: [name_f]Odette[/name_f] doesn’t have any family connections as well, I just love the name. [name_f]Aubree[/name_f] is after my husband’s maternal grandfather ([name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]), he was a professional boxer in the 40’s & 50’s in Australia called “[name_u]Tony[/name_u] [name_m]Mack[/name_m]” (google him!!)

[name_f]Kinley[/name_f] [name_f]Frances[/name_f]: Again, [name_f]Kinley[/name_f] has no family connection I just really like it. [name_f]Frances[/name_f] is a very old and according to my mother “overused” family name. My uncle’s name is [name_u]Francis[/name_u] (NN - [name_m]Frank[/name_m]).

[name_f]Bridie[/name_f] [name_f]Nyx[/name_f]: [name_f]Bridie[/name_f] (pronounced BRY-[name_f]DEE[/name_f]) has always been one of my favourites, ever since my brother went to school with a girl called [name_f]Brylie[/name_f] and they misread her name and called her [name_f]Bridie[/name_f] :D. [name_f]Nyx[/name_f] is after [name_u]Stevie[/name_u] (MASSIVE [name_f]FAN[/name_f] RIGHT HERE).

[name_m]Rhett[/name_m] [name_m]Nicolai[/name_m]: [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] is my absolute number 1 choice if I ever have a boy. I’ve loved it since I first watched “Gone With the Wind”. [name_m]Nicolai[/name_m] is a variation of my mothers maiden name ([name_u]Nicol[/name_u]), both from Greek origins.

[name_m]Silas[/name_m] [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]: [name_m]Silas[/name_m] is after my cousin [name_m]Andrew[/name_m], you maybe thinking “[name_m]How[/name_m] the hell do you get [name_m]Silas[/name_m] from [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]??” His nickname has always been “[name_u]Si[/name_u]”, we aren’t sure how he got it, but it has always stuck (So many people think his name is [name_m]Simon[/name_m] because of this). [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] is after an ancestor by the name of [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m] [name_m]Clarke[/name_m] (google him, he’s fascinating). I attribute my olive skin to him and my dark eyes.

[name_m]Huxley[/name_m] [name_u]Lennon[/name_u]: I love [name_m]Huxley[/name_m] because of [name_m]Aldous[/name_m] [name_m]Huxley[/name_m], needs no other explaination. [name_u]Lennon[/name_u] is after [name_m]John[/name_m] (again, MASSIVE [name_f]FAN[/name_f] RIGHT HERE).

[name_m]Cohen[/name_m] [name_m]Obediah[/name_m]: [name_m]Cohen[/name_m], I must confess is after “The OC” character, [name_u]Seth[/name_u] [name_m]Cohen[/name_m] (my husband and I watch the boxset when we get bored). [name_m]Obediah[/name_m] is after a ancestor named [name_m]Obediah[/name_m]/[name_m]Obadiah[/name_m] Bull, he was the father of a very wild woman (read her story here: Convict Records) and I just love his name.

[name_m]Hamish[/name_m] [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m]: [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] is tribute to my maternal grandfather’s Scottish heritage. His ancestors were from Banff in northern [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] and I love [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] as a name. [name_m]Fletcher[/name_m] is such a dashing name but to be honest it is after [name_m]Jim[/name_m] [name_u]Carrey[/name_u]'s character in “Liar, Liar”.

[name_u]Corbin[/name_u] Astley: I have no idea where [name_u]Corbin[/name_u] came from, I just heard it one day and loved it. Astley is after an ancestor [name_m]George[/name_m] Astley [name_m]Cooper[/name_m], who was a drover in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s in remote Western Australia. He was an extremely hard working man and I really admire that.

[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Adam[/name_m]: I’ve always had a soft spot for [name_m]Jasper[/name_m] since I had a crush on one in high school (don’t tell hubby, he’ll never let me use it). [name_m]Adam[/name_m] is after two people, my husbands paternal grandfather was [name_m]Adam[/name_m] and he served in WW2. [name_m]Adam[/name_m] is my favourite brothers name (I have 3 older brothers, but [name_m]Adam[/name_m] is my favourite). He so creative, driven and passionate about his life, you can’t help but love him.

Considering…
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] Edelweiss: I’ve always thought about using the name [name_f]Saskia[/name_f], I love the way it sounds. Edelweiss is a beautiful flower that deserves more NB love. Not to mention my favourite song from “The Sound of [name_f]Music[/name_f]”.

[name_f]Thora[/name_f] [name_u]Hadley[/name_u]: [name_f]Thora[/name_f] is after a place I recently visited, my mother’s relatives live there and it is just magical. [name_u]Hadley[/name_u] is just very cute.

[name_m]Maverick[/name_m] [name_m]Amos[/name_m]: My husband loves “Top [name_m]Gun[/name_m]”, and I love the name [name_m]Amos[/name_m].

[name_m]Knox[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m]: I really love names that have “X” in them, and I really like [name_m]Knox[/name_m]. [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] was my paternal grandfather’s middle name. A psychic/medium told me that he stands at my left side from dawn 'til dusk. She also said that I would name a child after him in someway (fingers crossed)

As someone also into family history, I’d like to know where that idea came from! It was my understanding that to be considered British royalty today, you have to be descended from [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] of Hanover, as per the Act of Settlement in 1701. Sorry to digress! I was just wondering.

Regarding all the names in my signature, nothing particularly special about them. The only one with even a little bit of meaning is [name_f]Zara[/name_f]. She’s a beloved character of mine. And I guess my own middle name means something. I chose it because it means “reborn” and there’s many men in my family tree named [name_u]Rene[/name_u]. I wanted something that kept my [name_m]French[/name_m] roots.

We’ve traced it back to the early 1000’s and found that I’m a direct descendant to [name_m]John[/name_m] Lackland ([name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]King[/name_m] of [name_f]England[/name_f]). We’ve also traced back to [name_m]French[/name_m] and Spanish aristocracy which is pretty surreal.

That is really cool, especially when you first find that royal link. However, it loses the ‘cool’ factor once you realize everyone of European ancestry is descended from royalty. I too am descended from [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]John[/name_m] I of [name_f]England[/name_f], through his son [name_m]King[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] III, and then his daughter [name_f]Princess[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] of [name_f]England[/name_f]. Very surreal when I discovered it too, but not so much when I saw every single US President is descended from [name_m]John[/name_m] I of [name_f]England[/name_f] as well. And so are millions of other people.

Unfortunately though, to be a ‘real’ royal and have a shot at the throne, you need to prove [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] of Hanover as an ancestor. Interestingly, I think only 5,000 people are proven and in line to the throne.

I can talk about family trees and genealogy forever, so I’ll stop before this thread gets way too off topic!

I’m big into name meanings and also honor names… so hearing the reason behind names is super fun for me. Most of my first names don’t have nicknames, and then middle names are usually honor names or names that I like but I don’t like their nns

  • [name_f]Lana[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] - [name_f]Lana[/name_f] sounds very old hollywood classic. Hubby is also a huge superman fan. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is my MILs middle name, which she loves

  • [name_f]Faline[/name_f] [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] - I fell in love with [name_f]Faline[/name_f] ([name_f]Feline[/name_f]) when watching [name_f]Bambi[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] so feminine and gorgeous. Plus I like cats lol. [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] is after St. [name_u]Francis[/name_u] (I am not religious, but my grandma always had a statue of St. [name_u]Francis[/name_u], who is the patron saint of the home and animals) and San [name_m]Francisco[/name_m] (where I was born and raised). I am not italian, but I did study there, and I love the culture.

  • [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] - [name_f]Maya[/name_f] after [name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Angelou[/name_f]. I always loved -ya names. [name_f]Dawn[/name_f] is my MILs name and I think it is really pretty

  • [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] - another -“ya” name. I always liked [name_f]Reina[/name_f], but living somewhere with many Spanish speakers, I think it’s a little much considering it literally means “[name_f]Queen[/name_f]”. [name_f]Rhea[/name_f] has similar sound and has fun mythological meaning. [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] is my mother’s name and my middle name.

  • [name_f]Athena[/name_f] [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] - [name_f]Athena[/name_f] is by far the most awesome [name_f]Goddess[/name_f] there is… and I think it sounds usable without being over the top. [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] reminds me of stars in the sky. Very feminine but awesome at the same time

  • [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] - I love the name [name_f]Flo[/name_f]. Classic, but not popular. I also studied in [name_f]Florence[/name_f] [name_f]Italy[/name_f]. I think [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] just sounds pretty. I do like [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] if baby was born near [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] and [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] if baby was born near [name_u]Valentine[/name_u]'s day.

  • [name_m]Vero[/name_m] [name_f]Helena[/name_f] - [name_m]Vero[/name_m] is a name I heard in South [name_u]America[/name_u]. Short for [name_f]Veronica[/name_f]. I just thought it was so super cool. [name_f]Helen[/name_f] was my grandmother’s name, which I don’t care for, but I love [name_f]Helena[/name_f]

  • [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marcheline[/name_f]- this one really has no real meaning besides that I think it sounds pretty. I have always loved french names.

  • [name_f]Annika[/name_f] [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] - Again, I just think this is gorgeous.

  • [name_f]Gaia[/name_f] [name_f]Antonia[/name_f]- [name_f]Gaia[/name_f], another “ya” name. I love that it literally means “Mother [name_f]Earth[/name_f]”.

  • [name_m]Knox[/name_m] [name_m]Francesco[/name_m] - [name_m]Knox[/name_m] is my maiden name. [name_m]Francesco[/name_m] after St. [name_u]Francis[/name_u]/San [name_m]Francisco[/name_m]

  • [name_m]Scott[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] - [name_m]Scott[/name_m] is just a classic name that seems strong and masculine to me. Also is my “godfather”'s name. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is both my uncle and brother’s name and goes way back in our family

  • Varro [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]- I heard this name on a tv show, and I couldn’t stop saying it . I just thought it was super cool. [name_m]Gregory[/name_m] is my brother’s name.

  • [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] - Okay, yes, [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women reference. I usually don’t like nns, but I love [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] and [name_u]Theo[/name_u]. [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] is my dad’s name.

  • [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] - I’ve always liked the name [name_m]Matteo[/name_m], and hopefully it wouldn’t be shortened to plain [name_m]Matt[/name_m]. [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is my hubby’s middle name

  • [name_u]Jesse[/name_u] [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] - My name is [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], hubby’s name is [name_m]Daniel[/name_m]. A little far fetched, but I think it sounds really cool

  • [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] - I spent many winters and summers in [name_m]Yosemite[/name_m]. so [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] would be after [name_m]Ansel[/name_m] [name_m]Adams[/name_m] (which would also be a tribute to my grandma as she adored [name_m]Yosemite[/name_m]). [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is just a great all around name.

  • [name_m]Rhett[/name_m] [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] - Gone with the Wind reference. [name_u]Hartley[/name_u] just seemed to go really well with that time period and name

  • [name_m]Clark[/name_m] [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] - Superman reference, but I also just think it is a strong, masculine, classic name.

  • [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] - Again, everything I like in a boy name. Strong, no nns, masculine and classic. [name_u]Valentine[/name_u] is a name I love, but probably would never use as a first

I’ve done a few threads explaining my names before, so why not again?
[name_f]Aubree[/name_f] Navayah- [name_f]Aubree[/name_f] is a name I’ve liked for a few years. The spelling isn’t as some people say the correct way, but I have a thing with the ey spellings. Navayah was originally spelt Naveah, but after realizing I didn’t like the spelling nor did my fiance, we played around with it and got that. I like that it was us doing it together.
Elleanora [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_f]Allean[/name_f]- Elleanora is a form of my grand mother’s name, [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is also her middle name. [name_f]Allean[/name_f] is the middle name of my fiance’s great grandmother, who has raised him so all names are really important to us.
[name_u]Arya[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]- I’ve always felt connected to the name [name_f]Rose[/name_f] for some reason. I knew I would have a daughter with the middle name [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. [name_u]Arya[/name_u] is just so musical and lovely to me.
[name_f]Thea[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f]- [name_f]Lux[/name_f] means light and i’ve always had a thing for names that mean [name_m]Light[/name_m]. To me it’s fun adventurous and different. [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is strong, noble, and royal, and independent, all the things I want my daughter to be.
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f]- [name_f]Freya[/name_f] is basically the same thing- Strong willed, independent to me. [name_f]Ann[/name_f] is my middle name, my two best friends middle name. [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] is my aunts name.

[name_m]Anthony[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u]- [name_m]Anthony[/name_m] has been a name I liked since I was nine years old. No idea where I came across the name. But I knew I would have a son named [name_m]Anthony[/name_m]. [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is after a family friend who saved me, and died when I was about nine.
Niklaus [name_m]Robert[/name_m]- Niklaus is a name my fiance loved and one of the only ones I liked that he suggested. [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is his friends name.
[name_m]Xavier[/name_m] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]- [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] has no special meaning really, but we both love it. [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] is his brothers name.
[name_m]Abel[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]- [name_m]Abel[/name_m] is unique and different to me. You don’t hear it much. It also has a tie to a favorite show of mine and my fiance’s that we used to watch together, [name_m]Son[/name_m]'s of Anarchy. [name_u]James[/name_u] is a person in my life that I owe a very lot too. He was a father figure, a guidance figure in my life when I needed it the most. He was there for me when I needed too. He’s a very special person to me and I knew since then that I would have his name somewhere in one of my kids names.
[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]- [name_m]Declan[/name_m] is Irish and I love that because it’s my heritage that I connect with the most. [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] is my fiance’s middle name, and his cousin’s name.

EEE, I just updated my signature and I’m kinda excited for this.

[name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u]- I had always thought [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] was a really cool name but it had always been too frilly for me until about a year ago. When I watched Maleficent, I fell in love with the way [name_f]Angelina[/name_f] [name_f]Jolie[/name_f] said [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]. I still fall in love all over again when I watch the movie. I’m also a huge Disney nerd and while [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] isn’t my favorite princess, it honors my Disney-ness. [name_u]Zephyr[/name_u] is a guilty pleasure.
Azula [name_f]Violet[/name_f]- Yes, I got Azula from @truenature’s gorgeous daughter’s name. I used to find it weird but now I find it spunky. [name_f]Violet[/name_f] used to be one of my favorites but it’s getting way too popular. I love it because of the Disney connection and because my mom’s favorite flowers are violets.
[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] [name_f]Saskia[/name_f]- I’ll admit, I had no intentions for honoring here. [name_f]Elowen[/name_f] could be after my youngest sister [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] is something I couldn’t get out of my head one day and then fell in love with after [name_f]Elowen[/name_f]. I also love the possibility of the nickname [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] which I adore.
[name_f]Elysia[/name_f] [name_u]Parker[/name_u]- I had heard [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] before (I say it ell-EE-see-yuh) but then I had a dream where I had a daughter named [name_f]Elysia[/name_f] and it really stuck. Again, I love the nickname options of [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] or [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. [name_u]Parker[/name_u] is after a little girl near where I live who has a brain tumor. See the link in my sig for more info.
[name_u]Fable[/name_u] [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]- [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is a new love. I’m a writer so I love the connection there. [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] is a name I’ve started to fall for but it’s way too popular for me.
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f]- [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] is obviously after [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]. I love those books and that character. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] is after my mom’s cousin who unfortunately lost her battle with a brain tumor at the age of four.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] [name_f]Odelia[/name_f]- I just love [name_f]Iris[/name_f], I think it’s feminine but spunky. [name_f]Odelia[/name_f] has the same meaning as my maiden name (or my current last name)
[name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]- There’s the awesomest little girl ever on Master Chef [name_m]Junior[/name_m] named [name_f]Kya[/name_f] so I fell in love with the name. [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is my Babci’s (grandma’s) grandma.
Saela [name_u]Vesper[/name_u]- Saela is from @stephykneejo’s beautifully named girl. I used to love [name_u]Salem[/name_u] but not the witch trial connection so I shortened it to Saela. I’m a sucker for anything with “ae” in it. [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] is because I love the idea of “Saela V” (c’est la vie) and since I’m taking [name_m]French[/name_m] and I also love [name_u]Paris[/name_u], it fits.
[name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Aria[/name_f]- [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] is just something I love. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is as well although I could twist it to honor my dad since he watched Pretty [name_m]Little[/name_m] Liars with me XD. [name_f]Aria[/name_f] is pretty but, again, way too popular.

[name_m]Archer[/name_m] [name_u]Murray[/name_u]- I love the way [name_m]Archer[/name_m] sounds. Also my mom used to be big into archery. One of my favorite Disney princesses is also [name_f]Merida[/name_f]. [name_u]Murray[/name_u] is after my great-grandpa.
[name_u]August[/name_u] [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]- [name_u]August[/name_u] is just something I love. [name_u]Laurence[/name_u] honors so many things: my best friend [name_f]Lauren[/name_f], my B’pa [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_u]Laurie[/name_u], and [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u], KS near where I grew up.
[name_m]Caspian[/name_m] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]- I’ve loved [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] since watching [name_m]Prince[/name_m] [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] when I was younger. [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] could also honor my sister [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].
[name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_u]Emory[/name_u]- Nothing special here, just names I love.
[name_m]Fabian[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]- I’ve loved [name_m]Fabian[/name_m] since reading the 13 Treasures books in middle school. [name_u]James[/name_u] would take forever to explain completely but family-wise both my grandpas are named [name_u]James[/name_u] and its my dad’s middle name.
[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]- [name_u]Flynn[/name_u] is another Disney name, after [name_m]Rider[/name_m]. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is a favorite of mine but is too popular.
[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] [name_u]Sage[/name_u]- [name_m]Just[/name_m] two names I like. I do love that [name_u]Sage[/name_u] means wise though.
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m]- I fell in love while reading [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] [name_u]Chase[/name_u] (ahem… still waiting to finish it). [name_m]Wolfe[/name_m] is after my love of dogs but is simply a name I like as well.
[name_m]Nolan[/name_m] [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]- [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] is something I just like, along with its meaning. With [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], I love the religious connection behind it. I’m Catholic and I come from a religious family so I love the symbolism behind the shepherd guiding his flock.
[name_u]Rory[/name_u] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m]- I love [name_u]Rory[/name_u]! Nothing more than that. [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] is just a really cool name and I love the potential questions people will ask. X is not a common letter so when people see his initials of RX_, they’ll ask what his middle name is.

I change my signature a lot but I finally made combos and I’m excited about it.

– [name_u]Blaine[/name_u] [name_u]Riley[/name_u]: I always really liked the names [name_u]Blake[/name_u] and [name_u]Riley[/name_u] for boys. I started leaning more towards [name_u]Blaine[/name_u] though after my niece was given the middle name Bl@kelyn. It just suits her really well and I wouldn’t want to take that from her.
– [name_m]Calum[/name_m] [name_m]William[/name_m]: I love the nickname [name_u]Cal[/name_u], and prefer [name_m]Calum[/name_m] over [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] (and one L over two ;)) [name_m]William[/name_m] honors my father, brother, and nephew.
– [name_m]Felix[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]: I’m sure I’ve posted about this before somewhere but [name_m]Felix[/name_m] has been my favorite name for as long as I can remember! My family can’t shake the cat connection, but it doesn’t bother me. [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] would also be an honor name for my dad and brother.
– [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Kristopher[/name_m]: I love the name [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], but it’s probably not a name I’d actually use considering I convinced my sister into making it my younger nephew’s middle name (everyone was much happier with this one than the original name so it wasn’t sneaky or anything). [name_m]Kristopher[/name_m] would be honoring my mom, thus the K over the Ch spelling.
– [name_u]Riley[/name_u] [name_m]Clarke[/name_m]: Again, just names I really like.

– [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_f]Elaine[/name_f]: [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] is really cute, plus the nickname [name_f]Bea[/name_f] is special to me. It reminds me of my mom, though I won’t go into detail why. [name_f]Elaine[/name_f] would be after my grandma.
– [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] [name_f]Liliana[/name_f]: I jokingly mentioned to a certain person I would name my daughter [name_f]Elsa[/name_f], but then…it sort of grew on me. [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] is a name I never expected myself to like because I rather dislike [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. Something about it is just really appealing to me.
– [name_f]Frances[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]: [name_f]Frances[/name_f] was my paternal great grandmother’s middle name. She was a really special person in my family, and I personally think the name is beautiful, especially paired with a simple middle like [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
– [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f]: These names honor both of my parents (I have a thing for honor names I know) Plus I love the nickname [name_u]Josie[/name_u]
– [name_f]Gemma[/name_f] [name_f]Dorothea[/name_f]: These honor my maternal grandma and her mother. My grandma really truly is a gem and I don’t know what I’d do without her in my life. My great grandmother I didn’t get to know too well before she passed, but I have a few fond memories of trying to make her smile with my stuffed animals and being referred to as her little little, while she was my big little.

I completely adore this! It is so lovely to see that people have put such thought into their names. It annoys me so when someone says: “I don’t know… it sounded good at the time…” To see so much love going into names makes me super happy!

So… my signature… I haven’t done all the names (just a few to give you the idea).
Note: My partner and I are not really ones for NNs. For most of our names, we are determined to keep them whole length, and get others to do the same.

[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]: I came across this name in the form of a dear friend, and it has only grown on me since then. I think it is beautiful and super feminine. I love the Gospel based meaning of the name. It’s probably the one name the breaks the NN rule for us, as we love the idea of calling her ‘[name_f]Evie[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]’. Completely precious! [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]: Femininity wins the day! This was the local buzz name for new babies a while back, and I just loved it so much. It is so delicate and gentle. I love the sense of such sweet gentleness that this combination has.

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - Probably my partner’s favourite girl name! [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]: Small bit of nerd guilt on my part - I love Dr Who, and noticed the name with great interested when I first heard it. The love for it just grew (of it’s own accord, not because of the show)! My partner completely loved the name when suggested. We like names like [name_f]Amy[/name_f] and [name_f]Emily[/name_f], but they were just a little simple for us. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] was the perfect solution - something we both loved! [name_f]Jane[/name_f]: Our pastor’s wife’s name - she’s an amazing woman! And such an inspiration for me. I also loved the name for it’s clean simplicity, but overall sweetness.

[name_u]Harmony[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] - [name_u]Harmony[/name_u]: This is the hippie coming out in me!! lol! I just adore nature and life in general, and I love names that can flow on from that. I want to call my daughter this, because it is what I want for her, and for her to bring to the world around her. My partner’s response to the name was: “that sounds like the kind of little girl I want to raise…” [name_f]Rose[/name_f]: Again, nature, but mostly simple, genuine beauty. I love the name. It is also my best friend’s middle name.

[name_u]Indigo[/name_u] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] - This combination can be summed up in the words: “I’m an artist and a hippie!” lol! Seriously, my attraction to this name is the mix of colour and nature… two things incredibly important to me, and that make me so very happy. My partner and I are planning to have a summer wedding, so the month is important to us for that also.

[name_u]Bentley[/name_u] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] - [name_u]Bentley[/name_u]: I stumbled across this one day, liked it, and showed my partner… and that was history. It shot straight to number one on his name list, and he still talks about it a lot when we talk names. It makes me so happy to see him completely in awe of a name and completely smitten with calling his baby boy that, and as such it has gained some extra meaning for me. I really love the name, but mostly for sentimental reasons. [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]: I love this name. Seriously! I had had it on the metaphorical back-burner (annoyingly) for a while because my partner, although he liked it, was not completely taken enough to lock it in as an option. But when we both fell in love with [name_u]Bentley[/name_u], I sprung on the opportunity for a fabulous MN! And what do you know, it worked. lol! My other half totally loves the combination, and now we will be in a battle, should our baby #1 be a boy, for who gets to use their favorite name :stuck_out_tongue: (see below, for my fave)

[name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] - [name_m]Vincent[/name_m]: I am an artist, so this name is dear to me. [name_u]Van[/name_u] Gogh’s work is incredible and beautiful, by the far the most intricate of Impressionism. I also recently found out that [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] is a family name on my grandfather’s side, so that is a lovely added bonus. Not sure when I fell in love with the name, exactly, but once it happened… well, I am forever smitten! [name_u]Michael[/name_u]: I love this for it’s Biblical connection, and it is also a family name. I don’t like many common names, but this one will always have it’s own special charm. [name_m]Vincent[/name_m] [name_u]Michael[/name_u] is my favourtie name out of any that we have ever discussed. It has this incredibly special place in my heart, and I would love to be one day cuddle a baby boy with this wonderful name.

[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] - [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m]: Always a favourite! I have loved it since I first heard it, and was pleasantly surprised to find it on the top of my partner’s list. I find it has a simple elegance and sophistication that I really love. [name_m]Philip[/name_m]: My partner’s father’s name. Keeping family connection is important to us, especially with my partner’s Greek ancestry. Family is a bog thing. (literally and figuratively lol!)

[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] [name_m]Boyd[/name_m] - [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]: I have also loved this name, even when I was younger. It has such a special charm and almost innocence about it. Attesting to the above NN rule, my partner and I both dislike [name_u]Sam[/name_u]. It is such a boring take on a gorgeous name. I love the meaning - “God has heard”… such a precious thing, when thinking about children and the gift that they are. Especially for me… family reasons mean I wonder if I will be able to have children, so if I do it will be very much God answering our prayers. [name_m]Boyd[/name_m]: My partner’s middle name, and his mother’s maiden name. Again, family connection is important.

[name_m]Isaac[/name_m] [name_m]Harrison[/name_m] - [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]: This was one of those funny moments where you just can’t get away from a name. My partner and I have always found boy names harder than girl names… I came across [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] one day, and it just stuck. [name_f]Every[/name_f] time I tried to go through boy names, I’d get to [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] and get the feeling that that was it. My other half was never 100% on the boat, but my connection and need to keep coming back to the name won him over in the end. [name_m]Harrison[/name_m]: We both loved the trendiness of [name_m]Harrison[/name_m], and it matched so well that we didn’t really look any further! It was a name that we both liked, but weren’t sure if we wanted to use as a first name. I also like having it in the middle, because it avoids our son from every becoming ‘[name_m]Harry[/name_m]’ (not cool!)

Crushes - my crush names usually come down to names that are super cute or spunky and I totally love, but am not sure if the love will stick. Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn’t. At the moment, my favourite of my crushes is [name_f]Posey[/name_f]… I love it as a name, but I am also thinking it might become a NN for [name_u]Harmony[/name_u] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] (my little [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] [name_f]Posey[/name_f] - yes, I am that kind of gooey human being lol!) My boy crushes change all the time, and at the moment they are all kind of settling into the ‘meh’ pile. Although I still really like them, not sure that I’d ever use them. (Doesn’t help that my partner doesn’t like them at all!)

Ps. That was such fun, getting to go through why each name is special - kudos to the person who thought of doing this thread! It’s lovely!

[name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] [name_u]Gray[/name_u] - I discovered [name_m]Aurelian[/name_m] while looking at saint names. I have always liked names like [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_u]Ariel[/name_u], [name_f]Ariella[/name_f] but never loved one as much as this. [name_u]Gray[/name_u] was just one of the names that I loved the sound, but didn’t like as a first name.

[name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] - I really love the name [name_m]Wolf[/name_m] which seemed too much for a full name, when I found out that [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] was a saint name I instantly put it on my signature. Especially with the people I am friends with, there is a little girl named [name_f]Faustina[/name_f]! [name_u]Mischa[/name_u] honors my dad [name_u]Michael[/name_u].

[name_m]Caspar[/name_m] Tryphon - when I first started watching [name_m]Caspar[/name_m] [name_u]Lee[/name_u] on YouTube I fell in love with his name. My love shifted to [name_m]Caspian[/name_m] then back to [name_m]Caspar[/name_m]. Tryphon is another saint name that I discovered here and thought it sounds so cool.

[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u] - I study Latin and I first heard it in my Latin book. It means ‘great’ (or large but I just ignore that  ) then I read [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] [name_u]Chase[/name_u] the Sword of [name_f]Summer[/name_f]. I actually can see this on a real person now! I looked up middle names for [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] and someone suggested [name_u]Dean[/name_u].

[name_m]Augustine[/name_m] [name_u]Finch[/name_u] - of course the Nameberry love for [name_u]August[/name_u]- names made me think about [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] especially because [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] (yes lots of saint names). [name_u]Finch[/name_u] was random but sounds good.

[name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] [name_u]Orion[/name_u] - heard [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] in The 100 and I am now one of those few people who sees it as 100% male. [name_u]Orion[/name_u] sounds amazing to me and another saint name.

[name_m]Viggo[/name_m] [name_m]Artemas[/name_m] - inspired by [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] Mortenson, [name_u]Artemis[/name_u] Fowl, and a saint.

[name_m]Jesper[/name_m] Castulus - inspired by the Brotherband Chronicles and a saint (again)

[name_u]Rohan[/name_u] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] - huge fan of [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings and the name [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] ever since I was little

[name_u]Darcy[/name_u] [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m] - currently reading Pride and Prejudice, already watched the 2005 movie and lover of everything [name_m]Saint[/name_m] [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m].

Azélie [name_u]Piper[/name_u] - when my Confirmation saint’s mom, [name_f]Marie[/name_f]-Azelie became a saint I realized how gorgeous her name is. [name_u]Piper[/name_u] is a favorite but so popular!
[name_f]Delphina[/name_f] [name_u]Scout[/name_u] - [name_f]Delphina[/name_f] is a saint name I’ve admired before I knew it was a saint name and I love To Kill a Mockingbird (obviously)
[name_f]Endellion[/name_f] [name_f]Larue[/name_f] - fell in love with [name_f]Endellion[/name_f] after a berry named her daughter this. [name_f]Larue[/name_f] just sounds so beautiful to me.
[name_f]Astoria[/name_f] [name_f]Temperance[/name_f] - the name [name_f]Astoria[/name_f] is so elegant I fell in love with it instantly. [name_f]Temperance[/name_f] has a beautiful sound and meaning.

[name_f]Gwen[/name_f] [name_f]Violetta[/name_f] - saint and honor my mom’s favorite color is violet (I think…)

[name_f]Malia[/name_f] Nightingale - love the sound of [name_f]Malia[/name_f] and first fell in love with Nightingale when someone had [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] Nightingale on their sig.

[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f] - always loved [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and LoTR again. [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f] is so gorgeous but unusable.

[name_f]Demetria[/name_f] [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] - love the nn [name_f]Demi[/name_f] and the beauty of [name_f]Primrose[/name_f] (also THG)

[name_f]Susanna[/name_f] [name_f]Tigerlily[/name_f] - [name_f]Susanna[/name_f] is honor and for the nn [name_u]Sunny[/name_u]. [name_f]Tigerlily[/name_f] is just gorgeous.

[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] - when I first saw [name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] I fell in love, turns out it’s a saint’s name (YAY!) And [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] has such a lovely sound.

[name_f]Elliana[/name_f] [name_f]Maye[/name_f] - It was love at first sight with [name_f]Elliana[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Ella[/name_f]/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] but they are too nickname-y for me. [name_f]Maye[/name_f] is an honor name for several family members.

[name_f]Merida[/name_f] [name_u]Wren[/name_u] - I just love the name [name_f]Merida[/name_f]. Disney~Pixar’s Brave introduced it to me, but that’s not the reason I love this name. And while I don’t usually prefer animal names, [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is too cute!

[name_f]Antonia[/name_f] [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] - [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] is a family honor name. I also like [name_f]Antonina[/name_f]. [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]…oh, [name_f]Sybil[/name_f]. Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u] handed me this name worn by my favorite character, and I fell in love. I might consider using it as a first, and the results would be [name_f]Sybil[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] and [name_f]Antonia[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f].

[name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] - [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is a family name on it’s own, but, while I want to carry it on, [name_f]Marie[/name_f] alone sounds dated and overused, to me. So adding the lovely [name_f]Rose[/name_f] to it freshens it up. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is after my favorite author: [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u].

[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - [name_f]Vivienne[/name_f] is just a longtime favorite of mine. Same with [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f].

[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] - [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is just a flowery name I adore, and [name_f]Danielle[/name_f] is an honor name for my Dad.

Avonlea [name_f]Iris[/name_f] - I can’t get away from the idea of using the lovely name of [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_f]Shirley[/name_f]'s hometown on P.E.I. because I love [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables so much! [name_f]Iris[/name_f] is one of my favorite floral names, and I think it fits well.

[name_f]Arabella[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] - I don’t prefer [name_f]Annabella[/name_f], but when I heard [name_f]Arabella[/name_f] for the first time it just sounded perfect! [name_f]Josephine[/name_f] is a family honor name.

[name_m]Declan[/name_m] [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] - I kinda have a current obsession with Celtic names. These are two of my favorites.

[name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_m]Rafaele[/name_m] - My family is actually Italian, and these are my favorite Italian boys names. They go so well together, I think. My list of Italian girl’s names I love goes on forever (if I could go over 1000 characters in my signature I would list them!)

[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Austen[/name_u] - [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is a classic love of mine, and [name_u]Austen[/name_u] is also for [name_f]Jane[/name_f].

[name_m]Oliver[/name_m] [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] - [name_m]Oliver[/name_m] is another classic love, and I can’t get over it. [name_m]Atticus[/name_m], though I love Downton, is just another name I can’t get away from and not solely because of Downton.

[name_m]Bennet[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] - I love [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] anyway, but the reason for spelling it the “incomplete” way with one ‘t’ is because of the [name_m]Bennet[/name_m] family in Pride & Prejudice. [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] is a family honor name, but I think I would love it even if it wasn’t.

[name_u]Rohan[/name_u] [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] - I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Lord[/name_m] of the Rings, but I wouldn’t name my son Aragorn, [name_m]Pippin[/name_m], or even Samwise, and certainly not Legolas. [name_u]Rohan[/name_u], however, is perfection. [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m], goes with my Celtic obsession, and came to mind when I sought out a middle for [name_u]Rohan[/name_u]. I think they go well together.

[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] - Again, for my love of [name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_f]Shirley[/name_f]. I am also newly considering [name_f]Blythe[/name_f].

[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - Didn’t like this name at first, but it grew on me and is now one of my favs. And I have newly begun to love [name_u]Rey[/name_u], but seems a bit mismatched with my other favs. [name_f]Freya[/name_f] contains it, and stands in for it.

[name_f]Nora[/name_f] - A darling replacement for [name_f]Cora[/name_f] which is already taken in my family.

[name_f]Elowen[/name_f] - Sounds similar to [name_f]Arwen[/name_f] and [name_f]Eowyn[/name_f], which is why I love it. It just resonates with Tolkien, imo.

[name_f]Greta[/name_f] - Same as [name_f]Freya[/name_f] in that I didn’t love it at first but now do.

Eirlys - Never heard of it until it was NotD on Appellation Mountain, and I fell in love.

[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] - [name_m]Just[/name_m] another floral name love of mine.

[name_f]Saoirse[/name_f] - Again, love Celtic names and this is tops!

[name_u]Abbott[/name_u] - Family surname that I’d like to use as a middle.

[name_u]Flynn[/name_u] - [name_m]Just[/name_m] like the name. And after TFA, I am kinda liking [name_u]Finn[/name_u]…

[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] - Didn’t use to like this name at all, but couldn’t get away from it and it grew on me.

[name_m]Fritz[/name_m] - I don’t usually like nickname names, but I find this to be perfect on its own!

Knightley - I will always love Mr. Knightley. Always. Maybe even more than Mr. [name_u]Darcy[/name_u]. But anyway, I think it works as well as any other surname name, and I love it.

And there are so many other names I adore! But…I have no space left in my signature. So I have many lists of favorites, favorite combos, and guilty pleasures:)

[name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]: [name_f]Jane[/name_f] is my all time fave. It’s sweet and serious and simple and it means “God’s gift”. I heard Theodosia in Hamilton and I do think the song Dear Theodosia is very sweet! I’m not set on it as a middle for [name_f]Jane[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Odilia[/name_f]-[name_f]Lark[/name_f]: [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is pretty common and yet, I don’t know a single [name_f]Mary[/name_f] who doesn’t have a smoosh name. Plus, the virgin [name_f]Mary[/name_f] is always a great association. [name_f]Odilia[/name_f] means “I will praise the [name_m]Lord[/name_m]” and I just love that, especially combined with [name_f]Lark[/name_f].
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f] [name_f]Julienne[/name_f]: I used to hate [name_f]Eliza[/name_f], but thanks to [name_f]Lin[/name_f]-[name_m]Manuel[/name_m] [name_f]Miranda[/name_f] I fell in love with it. It’s a family name, so that’s a plus and it means “pledged to God” which is great! I had Juliette as the middle for awhile, but I’ve been watching a lot of Call the Midwife and it’s inspired me to become an OB/GYN and Sr. Julienne is one of the very best characters! (Mary’s middle name would probably be Cynthia if it weren’t for the fact that I don’t want my aunt Cynthia thinking it’s for her.)
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] [name_f]Adela[/name_f]: [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is one of my favorite people in the Bible. Her story is pretty inspiring to me. [name_f]Adela[/name_f] I stole from [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Eyre[/name_f] (Another reason to love [name_f]Jane[/name_f]!) I like that it makes [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] feel younger.
[name_f]Esther[/name_f] [name_f]Josephine[/name_f]: [name_f]Esther[/name_f] is one of my other favorites in the Bible. (Tbh, the Veggie Tales movie changed my life) She was incredibly brave and stood up for her people. And it means “star”. I don’t actually have a particular fondness for either Biblical [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], but still a great connection. I didn’t look up meaning until know, but I think “Jehovah increases” is a lovely sentiment. Reminds me of [name_m]John[/name_m] 3:30.

[name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] [name_m]David[/name_m]: I’m pretty proud of my Irish roots and [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m] is just lovely. [name_m]David[/name_m] is another Biblical one with a great meaning: beloved
[name_m]Patrick[/name_m] [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m]: Another Irish name and [name_m]Alasdair[/name_m] is the Scottish spelling so I get to honor another side of my heritage. Sort of a nod to my mom as well; she was born around St. [name_u]Paddy[/name_u]'s [name_u]Day[/name_u]!
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m] [name_m]Remus[/name_m]: I added this one around [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] because of the shepherds who visited [name_m]Jesus[/name_m]. [name_m]Remus[/name_m] is another [name_m]Potter[/name_m] name I just happen to like.
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] [name_m]Malachy[/name_m]: [name_m]Jonah[/name_m]'s for the meaning (“dove”) not the guy who got eaten by a whale, but I love that it comes with a nursery theme! [name_m]Malachy[/name_m] is an Irish spelling. It means “my messenger” but potential nickname “[name_u]Machi[/name_u]” means “decrease” which is another great nod to [name_m]John[/name_m] 3:30
[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m]: I don’t remember why I started liking this and honestly I don’t prefer [name_m]Cole[/name_m] over [name_u]Nick[/name_u], either is fine. [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] I’ve liked for so long that I can’t quite remember why. But it doesn’t matter because I’m not having 5 boys! :stuck_out_tongue:

[name_u]Columba[/name_u], [name_f]Paloma[/name_f]: more dove names! (plus, nn [name_f]Lola[/name_f]!!!)
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f]: [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]'s mother in the Bible.

[name_m]Eugene[/name_m]: my grandfather’s name, which I’d love to pass down.
[name_m]Peter[/name_m]: I think you get that I like Biblical names already.

I’m pretty sure this signature is different than the previous explanation threads I’ve done before, so here I go again. These are all GPs for me (at least right now).

[name_f]Audrey[/name_f] [name_f]Loire[/name_f]: I love [name_f]Audrey[/name_f]. It’s classic and timeless to me, especially thanks to Hepburn. It’s one of those names that may be popular, but I can see it on every age. The meaning is icing on the cake. [name_f]Loire[/name_f] is a roundabout honor name after the valley in [name_f]France[/name_f]. My mom and I have always talked about going, but the timing has never been right. She has gone a couple of times, when she was younger, and it’s one of her favorite places in [name_f]France[/name_f].
[name_f]Vevina[/name_f] [name_f]Circe[/name_f]: [name_f]Vevina[/name_f] is partially sound and part meaning (sweet lady according to nameberry). [name_f]Circe[/name_f] is because she always stuck in my head from [name_m]Odysseus[/name_m]. The name itself just feels magical and strong like the sorceress herself.
[name_f]Cressida[/name_f] [name_u]Roux[/name_u]: [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] is another one that’s a mix of sound and meaning; I’m surprised it hasn’t caught on in the US. The meanings of [name_f]Cressida[/name_f] and [name_u]Roux[/name_u] do sound redundant because of the colors, but for [name_u]Roux[/name_u] I like it more because of the culinary term. Food and cooking has always been big in my family, and I always think of my mom when I hear the word roux.
[name_f]Saskia[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]: [name_f]Saskia[/name_f] is just gorgeous. It’s a fun name, but usable in all stages in life. [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] is a nod to my home state (the famous writer/poet who lived there). I’ve also put [name_u]Lior[/name_u] in the middle, which I feel is unusable since I’m not Jewish, but the meaning and the sound are lovely.
[name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Basia[/name_f]: [name_f]Honor[/name_f] names galore. [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] honors two women, while [name_f]Basia[/name_f] is supposed to be a form of [name_f]Barbara[/name_f] honors another. I love the idea of honoring three people in one name. If I made it [name_f]Marjorie[/name_f] [name_f]Louise[/name_f] [name_f]Basia[/name_f] I could honor 6 people!
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] [name_f]Inez[/name_f]: I love [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m], and I really liked the character [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. [name_m]Hamlet[/name_m] has a connection between three generations of my family, so it’s also a slight honor name. [name_f]Inez[/name_f] has a wonderful sound and the meaning is the same as my mn.
[name_f]Selene[/name_f] [name_f]Araceli[/name_f]: First, I like the combined meanings of “moon goddess” and “altar of the sky”. Additionally, [name_f]Selene[/name_f] is related to another name in my family so it’s a slight honor. [name_f]Araceli[/name_f] I just find beautiful, although I go back and forth whether I prefer [name_f]Selene[/name_f] [name_f]Araceli[/name_f] or [name_f]Araceli[/name_f] [name_f]Selene[/name_f].
[name_f]Liora[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f]: [name_m]Just[/name_m] like I mentioned above with [name_u]Lior[/name_u], [name_f]Liora[/name_f] is unusable because I’m not Jewish. But, I do appreciate the sound and meaning of the name. [name_u]Truly[/name_u] beautiful. [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] has a wonderful sound, relation to the flower, and the association to [name_f]Delphi[/name_f].

[name_m]Ivo[/name_m] [name_m]Casimir[/name_m]: [name_m]Ivo[/name_m] has a handsome meaning and sound; although, pronunciation would likely be a hassle in the US. [name_m]Casimir[/name_m] definitely has that royal feeling (for good reason). It’s able to be strong without being in your face. Additionally, I’m quite fond of the pet names ([name_m]Cas[/name_m], [name_f]Casi[/name_f], Imir) you can get from it.
[name_m]Laszlo[/name_m] [name_u]Dean[/name_u]: Wonderful meaning, sound (O endings are my favorite after -ik), and great nn potential (Las). [name_u]Dean[/name_u] is mostly because of the sound and the bad boy vibe that seems attached to the name.
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Orion[/name_u]: I love the meaning of [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] and the pet names [name_f]Ro[/name_f] and [name_m]Seal[/name_m]. [name_u]Orion[/name_u] because of the story with the scorpion and it’s close sound to [name_u]Ryan[/name_u]. It just has a very strong, fighter feel to me.
[name_m]Solomon[/name_m] [name_m]Idris[/name_m]: Both names make me think of wisdom and have a more scholarly feel to them than some of my others. Although, it still remains strong in a brain over brawn way. Both are names that I think work so well at every age. I don’t know if I’d feel comfortable using them irl because they seem very tied into each religion, but I love this combo.
[name_m]Otto[/name_m] Antares: [name_m]Otto[/name_m] sounds wonderful and has that royal feel too. Antares is because of the star in the scorpius constellation (I’m a scorpio). I like that it’s the brightest star in the constellation, 15th brightest star in the nightsky, and according to wiki “often referred to as ‘the heart of the scorpion’”
[name_m]Abram[/name_m] [name_m]Magnus[/name_m]: I’m not big on the full [name_m]Abraham[/name_m], but I like the more down to earth and less religions [name_m]Abram[/name_m]. I also enjoy the tie to [name_m]Bram[/name_m] Stoker. [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] I just find handsome.
[name_m]Dominic[/name_m] [name_m]Ozias[/name_m]: [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_m]Dominic[/name_m]! It has my favorite ending for boy names, feels strong, and has [name_m]Dom[/name_m] as nn potential. [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] is another love of mine. It just feels vibrant, has a wonderful meaning, and has [name_m]Ozzy[/name_m]. Together the combo is probably too religious. [name_m]Even[/name_m] though I list it as GP, I could honestly see myself using [name_m]Ozias[/name_m] or the whole combo url.

I’ve done mine in a previous explain-your-combos thread, so now I am just gonna do my newest addditions.

[name_f]Clementine[/name_f] [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f]: [name_f]Clementine[/name_f] is a name I’ve long adored but I’ve taken it off of my list and only recently make a comeback. It seems sweet, fresh and musical to me, and brings this mild and merciful imagery into my head. [name_f]Sapphira[/name_f] is from sapphire, probably my favourite gemstone.

[name_f]Estelle[/name_f] [name_f]Amoret[/name_f]: I’ve had [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] on my list for a very long time, but only recently consider it as a first name. It means star, so it’s perfect for an astronomy-loving me. [name_f]Amoret[/name_f] (amour) represents love, so there’s that.

[name_m]Leon[/name_m] [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] Gibran: I can’t believe I’ve never thought about [name_m]Leon[/name_m] before the last week. I talked to someone and when I asked his name he said “[name_m]Leon[/name_m]”, and I was like “that’s a very handsome name!” and suddenly the name made it to my list. [name_m]Augustus[/name_m] I just thought about when I brainstormed for [name_m]Leon[/name_m]'s middle. At first I hesitated, but the meaning has convinced me. Gibran is after [name_m]Kahlil[/name_m] Gibran -the very first poetry that I have ever liked was his.

[name_m]Zebadiah[/name_m] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]- I have never like Z names, but have always loved [name_m]Zebadiah[/name_m] and the NN [name_m]Zeb[/name_m] seems just so cowboy-cool to me. [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] is a nod to my husband’s favorite grandpa, [name_m]Ed[/name_m]. [name_m]Zebadiah[/name_m] was also a second pick for my mother-in-law to name my husband.

[name_m]Clyde[/name_m] [name_m]Errol[/name_m]- [name_m]Clyde[/name_m] is influenced again, by my husband’s grandpa, [name_u]Claude[/name_u] [name_m]Edward[/name_m]. The name [name_u]Claude[/name_u] was disliked by [name_u]Claude[/name_u], himself and everyone in the family. This is why he went by [name_m]Ed[/name_m]. I love [name_u]Claude[/name_u], but am afraid to use it because of that whole side of the family disliking it. [name_m]Errol[/name_m], because I love ‘old man’ names and this would make the babies initials CES just like my father-in-law and his father.

[name_m]Hank[/name_m] [name_m]Edwin[/name_m]- I cannot express how much I love [name_m]Hank[/name_m], I love [name_m]Hank[/name_m] [name_m]Williams[/name_m], I love the old country man appeal to it. Sadly, I probably won’t use it because I can’t get past the fact it’s a nickname for [name_m]Henry[/name_m], a name I don’t like and one of my husband’s close friend’s name. [name_m]Edwin[/name_m], again, because of Grandpa, [name_m]Ed[/name_m].

[name_u]Claude[/name_u] [name_u]Everett[/name_u]- Here it is, the hated name, on my list. Yeah, I did it. I am a little scared all of my husband’s side of the family not understanding why I would give our baby such a terrible name, but I can’t help but love it! I don’t know if it’s because they don’t like it, or what. I swear it’s not out of spite! I love all of my in-laws! MY side of the family are the ‘crazy ones’. [name_u]Everett[/name_u], I found a while back and love the way it rolls off the tongue with a southern accent. Also, keeping in mind, I would like to continue the CES initials of my husbands side. My husband doesn’t have those initials and told me he always wished his parents had continued that with him.

[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]- [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] has been a pick for me since I was literally a little girl. I remember naming my doll babies [name_f]Hazel[/name_f]. We had a very sweet neighbor lady named [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] when I was a small child. She had to be in her 90s at the time. I would go over to her house and watch ‘I love [name_f]Lucy[/name_f]’ with her and eat homemade ginger snaps, she was a widow and loved my company as I did hers. She was like a grandma to me. (mine passed when I was a baby) [name_f]Mae[/name_f] because I love ‘double’ girls names and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] goes with everything. I prefer [name_f]Mae[/name_f], to [name_f]May[/name_f] as I don’t care for Month names.

[name_f]Hilda[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]- [name_f]Hilda[/name_f], because of my husband’s german heritage. We have a german sounding last name, and I think it would go well. I love the name [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], but have a close cousin of that name, so [name_f]Hilda[/name_f] is similar. I also love the NN [name_f]Hildie[/name_f].

[name_f]Caldonia[/name_f] [name_f]Mabel[/name_f]- Ok, this ones a little odd, but hear me out. Where my husband and I used to live (the town we met in), there was a street called [name_f]Caldonia[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u] that we traveled frequently. One day, a song came on the radio, it was the old blues song, ‘[name_f]Caledonia[/name_f]’. Neither of us had heard it, but it was catchy and we started singing along and then laughed when we realized, we were on [name_f]Caldonia[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u]. Then, always after that everytime we were on [name_f]Caldonia[/name_f] [name_u]Lane[/name_u], we’d sing that song together in the car. It was cute because we were freshly in love and did cheesy things like sing together in the car. I think [name_f]Mabel[/name_f] softens [name_f]Caldonia[/name_f] a little and is something different besides, [name_f]Mae[/name_f], which I can’t seem to get away from.

[name_u]Abilene[/name_u] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]- I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] ‘Ene’ names for girls. They just sound so cutesy/50s to me and I love that. [name_f]Maybeline[/name_f] is a favorite, but I can’t get away from the fact she would be teased by the makeup brand. So, [name_u]Abilene[/name_u] is a close second. The only thing about [name_u]Abilene[/name_u], is I detest the nn [name_u]Abbey[/name_u],[name_u]Abbie[/name_u]. So, that ones up in the air.

[name_f]Arabelle[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] “[name_f]Belle[/name_f]”: I have always loved the name [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. However, it’s too popular to use in my opinion and my cousin already used the name for her little girl. So I don’t want to make her mad if I use it. Then I found the name [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f]. Along with the belle connection, I always loved the nickname [name_u]Ara[/name_u]. Put together and [name_f]Arabelle[/name_f]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] that it’s [name_m]French[/name_m] too due to my love of [name_m]French[/name_m] names. [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] means dolphin, which is one of my favorite animals since I was little. Plus the [name_f]Delphi[/name_f] connection is awesome too. [name_m]Just[/name_m] love how this sounds. I also love [name_f]Delphia[/name_f] too.

[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] “[name_f]Neve[/name_f]”: If you can believe, I used to hate the name [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]. Now, I can’t imagine not loving it. It’s just a beautiful name and I just love the nickname [name_f]Neve[/name_f]. [name_f]Isadora[/name_f] is another nod to my love of the name [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f]. Plus it sounds gorgeous together.

[name_f]Luna[/name_f] [name_f]Solene[/name_f]: I love the name [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. It’s meaning of moon is just too perfect for me. I love astronomy, so it’s a nod to that. [name_m]Even[/name_m] if my future dh vetoes it, it will be a top middle name consideration. [name_f]Solene[/name_f] is a more modern version of Soliel. Both have meanings of the sun and [name_f]Solene[/name_f] has an additional meaning of with solemnity. [name_m]Just[/name_m] love this combo of moon and sun.

[name_f]Fleur[/name_f] [name_f]Isobel[/name_f]: This name meaning flower is special to my heart. I love the [name_m]French[/name_m] connection and that it is a nod to my grandmother. [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] is like I said above. [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name and this particular spelling is my favorite.

[name_f]Philomene[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] “[name_f]Lumi[/name_f]”: Both of these are french names. [name_u]Love[/name_u] the nickname for [name_f]Philomene[/name_f], [name_f]Lumi[/name_f]. I like the e endings of names more then the a names. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is another nod to my grandmother. [name_m]Just[/name_m] think this combo is so pretty.

[name_f]Cassia[/name_f] [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] “[name_u]Remy[/name_u]”: [name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f] is a name I’ve loved for a long time. Sadly, I don’t see it as usable. [name_f]Cassia[/name_f] on the other hand is a shortened version of this name. I absolutely find it to be a beautiful name. Combined with [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], it flows amazingly. I know the [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] reference and it doesn’t matter to me. The name is a favorite of mine too.

[name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] [name_f]Isla[/name_f] “[name_u]Finn[/name_u]”: [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] is just a beautiful name. The nickname [name_u]Finn[/name_u] is just too perfect. [name_f]Isla[/name_f] is a love. I find it too popular to use as a first, so a middle name suits it better for me.

[name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] [name_f]Noelle[/name_f]: [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] is a nod to my love for Arthurian legends. I love the nickname [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] too. [name_f]Noelle[/name_f] seems to compliment [name_f]Guinevere[/name_f] very nicely.

[name_f]Daphne[/name_f] [name_f]Rowena[/name_f]: This is a newer combo. [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] is such a gorgeous name to me. [name_f]Rowena[/name_f] is a good compliment to it. It being a [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] name is a plus.

[name_f]Aisling[/name_f] [name_f]Persephone[/name_f]: My newest combo. [name_f]Aisling[/name_f] has always been a name I’ve liked. It just recently became a top contender for first name. [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] is a go and a favorite name. I love greek mythology and my favorite one involves [name_f]Persephone[/name_f] and Hades.

[name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Kathlyn[/name_f]- [name_f]Ella[/name_f] has been my all time favorite name since fifth grade. I don’t care how popular it is, my first daughter will hopefully be named [name_f]Ella[/name_f] (though that’s a long way off). [name_f]Kathlyn[/name_f] is primarily to honor my mom, whose middle ma!e is [name_f]Kathleen[/name_f] and my grandmother whose name is [name_u]Lynn[/name_u]. But it’s also for a few different Kathryns I’m my life too. Plus it’s similar to my name. And it’s way less popular so it kinda balances [name_f]Ella[/name_f].

[name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] [name_f]Fay[/name_f]- I first heard [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] on the show Galavant (though she spelled it Madalena) and I don’t necessarily like the character, but I love the name. I love names with a plethora of nickname potiential. For [name_f]Maddalena[/name_f] I really like [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. [name_f]Fay[/name_f] is for my mom.

[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_m]Dei[/name_m]- my hometown is known for its azaleas, so this is to honor that, and also because I love the nicknames like [name_u]Aza[/name_u], [name_f]Lea[/name_f], [name_m]Zale[/name_m], and [name_m]Zaley[/name_m]. [name_m]Dei[/name_m] is the first syllable of one of my good friend’s name.

[name_f]Alianna[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]- [name_f]Alianna[/name_f] is the name of one of my teacher’s daughters, and I heard her use it and I loved it! Once again I like all the nicknames and that its long. [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] because of those other Kathryns I mentioned, and because its a variation of my!y name and my moms middle. Plus [name_f]Ally[/name_f] [name_f]Kat[/name_f] is perfection.

[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] [name_f]Kelsea[/name_f]- I just love the name [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]. The association with the siren is unfortunate, but I love the name. I love [name_u]Lorrie[/name_u]/[name_f]Lori[/name_f] as a nickname. [name_f]Kelsea[/name_f] is my nest friend’s name.

[name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]- First hear it on NCIS. It’s literally the only boy name I know I like. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is a family name.

[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f]:
Okay, hear me out here. [name_u]Ever[/name_u] since I can remember, I’ve always had the same girl in my dreams be my best friend. Weird thing is, I can’t recall ever knowing this girl in real life and I certainly have never met or heard of an [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]. So to me, the name [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] holds something charming. It’s still very feminine but slightly spunkier than you’d expect – it also feels quite mysterious to me (purely because of my dreams) and I’m dead set on her being my first daughter. I really loved the balance [name_f]Mae[/name_f] brought to the combination; and the nickname Lady [name_f]Mae[/name_f] was just too irresistible!
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Cate[/name_f]:
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is a name I’m pretty sure I’ve loved since I first found my interest in names. It looks and sounds beautiful, elegant, feminine but not too frilly. I like that it’s still familiar to pretty much everyone but is still really uncommon (at least where I live, it’s a lot less common in [name_f]England[/name_f] than you guys think!) – which means it will be easy to spell and pronounce first time. One reason I love [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is that I’ve always wanted to honour my [name_f]Nanny[/name_f] [name_f]Vera[/name_f] but was never a fan of using [name_f]Vera[/name_f] by itself (or [name_f]Ellen[/name_f], her middle name) so [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] is a nice way to honour her and possibly use [name_f]Vera[/name_f] or [name_f]Evie[/name_f] as a nickname. My mum is my absolute best friend and one hundred percent my role model, she goes by [name_f]Kate[/name_f] (short for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f], her middle name). [name_f]Cate[/name_f] is a more delicate way to spell it in my opinion, and it also carries on the [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]/[name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] middle name link between me and my mum.
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] [name_u]Fable[/name_u]:
My cousin, [name_f]Anna[/name_f], and I are so close we are pretty much sisters. If I ever did want to honour her I would use [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]. I love, again, how [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] is feminine and pretty; the nickname [name_f]Annie[/name_f] is timeless and cute. I have, also, just adored [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] for a long time. [name_u]Fable[/name_u] is aa new one to me. I found it on Nameberry, but I’m not actually too sure why I like it. It’s not an absolute favourite – it doesn’t make me swoon every time I hear it – but I can’t bring myself to drop it from the list. It’s pretty but not frilly. It really quite interests me, and balances out [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] perfectly.
[name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_u]Merritt[/name_u]:
Okay, confession time. I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Harry[/name_m] [name_m]Potter[/name_m] (of course I do, who doesn’t?) BUT…I haven’t actually watched all the films….oops! However, my love for [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] does only come from the character in the first 3 films anyway. It’s something about her whilst she was so young that’s spunky and sassy, pretty and feminine, as well as intelligent. All these qualities seem to shine through in the name [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] and I just think it sounds gorgeous. [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] is another little nod to my [name_f]Nanny[/name_f] [name_f]Vera[/name_f]. I don’t like any virtue names, but I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_u]Merritt[/name_u]. I like that it’s more unisex and not really expected for a girl, but still looks and sounds pretty and girly. [name_f]Hermione[/name_f] [name_u]Merritt[/name_u] just sounded and looked like a winning combination to me. [name_f]Mina[/name_f] would be the nickname.
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] [name_f]Faye[/name_f]:
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. Okay, I never used to like these kind of word names, [name_f]Marigold[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Magnolia[/name_f] etc etc. But recently, I can’t seem to shake off [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]. It’s so different but wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb in a group of 3 year olds now-a-days. The nickname [name_f]Maggie[/name_f] dims it down a bit for those times that [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] might just be a little bit too much. [name_f]Faye[/name_f], now, another [name_f]Vera[/name_f] nod. It’s pretty, simple, goes perfectly with [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] and I just love it. However, the only thing that would convince me not to go ahead with [name_f]Faye[/name_f], is that it’s the first name of one of my most hated teachers.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Clara[/name_f]:
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is just a name I’ve always loved. [name_m]Just[/name_m] like the others, it’s pretty and elegant and gives great nicknames – [name_f]Evie[/name_f]/[name_f]Eve[/name_f]/[name_f]Eva[/name_f]. It also makes me think of angels which I love (my mum’s nickname for me is [name_u]Angel[/name_u]). [name_f]Clara[/name_f] is another I just like. I knew a [name_f]Clara[/name_f] whose sister, [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], we used to look after. They were [name_m]French[/name_m] and wore their names beautifully.
[name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] [name_u]Reese[/name_u]:
Not much to say about this one, both name I have liked for a long time and keep coming back. I think I like these two as a combination more. I don’t like [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], so nickname would be Dela or [name_f]Lena[/name_f] ([name_m]LAY[/name_m]-nah).
[name_f]Francesca[/name_f] [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]:
I used to HATE [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]. I don’t know why, my mum loved it and always tried to convince me it was beautiful. A few years ago I realised I didn’t hate it like I used to, I just didn’t care for it. Until, that was, I found a mummy blogger from Mexico living in [name_u]America[/name_u] whose girls’ names are to die for. Her eldest is called [name_f]France[/name_f] [name_m]Fox[/name_m], and it never occurred to me until I did some good old Instagram research that her real name is [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] and [name_f]France[/name_f] was just her nickname! I fell in [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] with [name_f]Francesca[/name_f] and with the possibility of [name_f]France[/name_f] or [name_f]Francie[/name_f] as a nickname (also [name_f]France[/name_f]/[name_f]Francie[/name_f] make me think of Frenchy from Grease, my all-time favourite film, so that makes me very happy). There’s nothing too special about [name_f]Elodie[/name_f]. I think it flows quite nicely with [name_f]Francesca[/name_f]. One reason I like [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] is because my favourite childhood book was [name_u]Eloise[/name_u] but I don’t like how much it’s like [name_f]Louise[/name_f] (many personal and non-personal reasons against this name but I won’t get into it now) so [name_f]Elodie[/name_f] sounded like a nice alternative.
([name_f]France[/name_f]’s mum’s other daughter is [name_f]Fernanda[/name_f] [name_u]James[/name_u] “Fair” for all those wondering, and her Instagram is @karlaquiz – I highly suggest you check her out. She’s awesome, her pictures are beautiful and her girls are gorgeous!)

[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m]:
Okay this name is really the only one on my boys list that really has any meaning. Originally, the combination was [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] for years and years and years – since I was about 6, I would say. The only reason it’s not still [name_u]Noah[/name_u] is purely because [name_u]Noah[/name_u] has become so popular (which kills me because I love it so much, it’s definitely my favourite boys name). Because of this, I went on a mission to find a boys name that met everything I loved about [name_u]Noah[/name_u]: it needed to be short, it needed to look and sound cute but also look and sound grown up and not overly but slightly sophisticated and give me the same feeling of pure love and joy when I hear it. [name_m]Nolan[/name_m] was close but my mum didn’t like it. And then I realised that [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] was under my nose the whole time. It was absolutely perfect – and lets me name him after [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Fitz[/name_m] from Pretty [name_m]Little[/name_m] Liars! That’s not too say I won’t cave in and use [name_u]Noah[/name_u] after all! [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is my brother’s name. He’s my only sibling and my best friend. I knew I always wanted to name my first son after him. [name_u]Noah[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] or [name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] will be my first son – no negotiation!
[name_m]Asher[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], [name_u]Luca[/name_u] [name_u]Ellis[/name_u]/[name_u]Grey[/name_u]:
These three, [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_u]Luca[/name_u] are just cute but handsome boys that I adore. Theres no reason behind them, they just are everything I like in a boys’ name: classic, cute, sophisticated etc. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] and [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] are classics; I’ve loved them since forever. [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] and [name_u]Grey[/name_u] I can’t decide between. I love them both and would like each to have their own combination but I have two problems: I don’t know which I prefer with [name_u]Luca[/name_u], and I can’t find another first name I love with one of them.

[name_f]Christine[/name_f] [name_u]Klee[/name_u]: I love The Phantom of the [name_f]Opera[/name_f] and after years of hearing the name [name_f]Christine[/name_f] being sung, I fell in love with it. If/When I have a daughter I could name, my first choice would be [name_f]Christine[/name_f], middle name up for consideration for spouse or beloved family member’s input. I found the name [name_u]Klee[/name_u] whilst lurking on nameberry looking for a middle name for a character, which is basically why I’m on this site – collecting names for characters. I like the way [name_u]Klee[/name_u] looks and how it’s pronounced like “clay” and apparently it’s the [name_m]German[/name_m] word for clover, which is pretty cute.
[name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] [name_f]Bridgette[/name_f]: When I was younger, [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] was one of my favorite names. It was pretty and elegant and, unfortunately, it fell out of my favor until Disney released The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] and the Frog. Then I loved it all over again; if I had a daughter with this name, her nickname would probably be “[name_u]Evan[/name_u].” [name_f]Bridgette[/name_f] is, again, up for consideration, but I feel it grounds [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] from flying off with all its beauty.
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_f]May[/name_f]: [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] is a relatively new liking of mine, but I fell fast and hard for it. It would probably be my second daughter’s name if my love for it persists into the future. I like the way [name_f]May[/name_f] sounds with it and it probably wouldn’t be up for negotiation.
[name_u]Juniper[/name_u] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] - I had always liked the name [name_u]June[/name_u], but I never liked how short and final it was, so my liking for it diminished. Then, [name_m]Rick[/name_m] [name_m]Riordan[/name_m] released The Battle of the Labyrinth and the oh-so-lovable character [name_m]Grover[/name_m] had his girlfriend introduced – [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]. Instantly, I loved her and her name. I probably wouldn’t shorten the name to [name_u]June[/name_u]. I like the way [name_f]Lily[/name_f] flows with [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] and keeps the nature theme, though I’m not 100% attached to it.
[name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]: I read this one story when I was fifteen and the main character’s little sister’s name was [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I didn’t like her name right away, but by the time the story ended I loved it. I’ve never been overly fond of [name_f]Emily[/name_f], especially since I’ve met a lot of Emilys (it was the number one name for the year I was born in), but I love [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. I like the name [name_f]Rose[/name_f] — I would never give it as a first name, but I love it. It isn’t subject to change.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Amelia[/name_f]: I asked my sister which name combination she would potentially give to a girl if she had one, so in an alternate universe where my sister actually wants kids, my niece would have this name. I like it; it’s pretty and completely my sister’s aesthetic.
[name_f]Lyla[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u]: [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] is another new liking for me, but it’s so pretty and sweet I’m still falling in love with it. I’m not 100% sold on [name_u]Winter[/name_u], but I think it adds character for [name_f]Lyla[/name_f].

[name_u]Nico[/name_u] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]: Part of my liking for [name_u]Nico[/name_u] can be attributed to the [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] character with the same name, but I think it’s adorable. If/When I have a son I can name, this is it. [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is up for consideration with spouse/beloved family members, but I think it’s a great name.
[name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]Magnus[/name_m]: [name_u]Everett[/name_u] is a new liking for me; I hadn’t even heard of it until I read Fairest by [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] [name_m]Meyer[/name_m] (spelled [name_m]Evret[/name_m]) and I instantly loved it. [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] is an old liking I had and thought it sounded good with [name_u]Everett[/name_u], but it could change.
[name_m]Benji[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m]: I’ve always thought [name_m]Benji[/name_m] was such a cute name, much better than [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] anyway. [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] is an old infatuation and is subject to change, but for now I like it.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] [name_u]Owen[/name_u]: [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] is a newer love of mine while [name_u]Owen[/name_u] is an older love. I like the way the two sound together, very soft with a lot of power.
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]: [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] is also a newer love; I didn’t hear of it until I met one. It is probably one of the coolest names I’ve heard on a person and I’m kind of sad I never told him I liked his name (I only ever talked to him once). [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is another name I think sounds cool and works great with [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]. My second son would probably have this name.
[name_f]Ciel[/name_f] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]: I asked my sister which name combination she would potentially five to a boy if she had one, so in an alternate universe where my sister actually wants kids, my nephew would have this name. We actually named a fake son [name_f]Ciel[/name_f] [name_m]Matthew[/name_m] in Biology class in ninth grade; I didn’t know she kept and loved it.
[name_u]Mason[/name_u] [name_u]Reid[/name_u]: I like [name_u]Mason[/name_u] for boys and girls, but I like it more so on boys than girls. It’s one of my older loves that hasn’t left me. [name_u]Reid[/name_u] is a name I think goes well with [name_u]Mason[/name_u], but is up for consideration.

[name_m]Stellan[/name_m]: A pretty new infatuation, I don’t know how long it’s going to last.
[name_m]Patton[/name_m]: I’ve loved this name (for boys and girls, but for now on a boy) since [name_m]Brandon[/name_m] Mull’s Fablehaven: Grip of the [name_f]Shadow[/name_f] Plague ([name_m]Patton[/name_m] is easily my favorite character), though only now I’ve realized how infatuated with it I am.
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u]: A new infatuation I’m sure I could make into a middle name somewhere if only I could find the perfect first name.
[name_u]August[/name_u]: I’ve liked this name for a while, but I haven’t found a middle I like with it yet.
[name_m]Milo[/name_m]: I’ve liked this name longer than [name_u]August[/name_u] and, by-golly, I haven’t found a place for it yet. I love this name, especially when the boy would have an awesome namesake like [name_m]Milo[/name_m] [name_m]Thatch[/name_m] from [name_f]Atlantis[/name_f]: The Lost Empire, which is one of the greatest movies of all time.
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]: I’m pretty infatuated with this name as a middle for girls. [name_u]Haven[/name_u]’t found the right first name yet.
[name_u]Vesper[/name_u]: Oh, gosh, I think this name is super cool I’m dreading the day it falls from infatuation to a collected name. I didn’t even know about this awesome name until I saw it someone’s signature (I don’t know whose, but kudos to that person).
[name_f]Clarisse[/name_f]: I’ve always liked The [name_f]Princess[/name_f] Diaries and, of course, [name_u]Percy[/name_u] [name_m]Jackson[/name_m] and I think this is such a beautifully elegant name for BA girls.
[name_f]Elodie[/name_f]: Not gonna lie, I’m already kind of falling out of infatuation with this one — it might change to [name_f]Melody[/name_f] in a day or two, but for now I think it’s a really pretty name.
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]: I used to really like this name, then it became a collected name, now I’m really starting to like it again. Instead of [name_f]Crescent[/name_f] (which I think is a beautiful name, nickname “Cress” and yes I stole this from Cress by [name_f]Marissa[/name_f] [name_m]Meyer[/name_m] but who cares it’s pretty), [name_f]Celeste[/name_f] is a more common/normal way to nod to the beauty of space and (most importantly) the moon.

Most of my favourite names have at least some personal factor so here are my favourites:
[name_m]Berlyn[/name_m] - my favourite city
[name_u]Dakota[/name_u] [name_u]Penrose[/name_u] - One of my favourite movies is ‘A Bigger Splash’ with [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] Swinton but I especiall loved [name_u]Dakota[/name_u] [name_m]Johnson[/name_m] as [name_u]Pen[/name_u] in that movie.
[name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Daisy[/name_f], [name_m]Grantham[/name_m], [name_m]Branson[/name_m], [name_m]Allen[/name_m], [name_u]Mason[/name_u], [name_f]Beryl[/name_f] and [name_m]William[/name_m] - all my favourite Downton [name_u]Abbey[/name_u] names because I adore that TV show! Same with the [name_f]Nanny[/name_f]:
[name_m]Eddie[/name_m], [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m], [name_m]Niles[/name_m], [name_u]Brighton[/name_u], [name_f]Grace[/name_f] & [name_f]Yetta[/name_f]
[name_u]Lynn[/name_u] - favourite musician of mine
[name_f]Wednesday[/name_f] - The Addams family
[name_m]Horizon[/name_m] (for a boy) - a guilty pleasure of mine because of Bring Me The [name_m]Horizon[/name_m]
[name_m]Teodor[/name_m] - a favourite relative of mine
[name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] - the name of my first girl crush and I still love it so much because of nostalgia.
Madita, [name_m]Nilsson[/name_m], [name_m]Karlsson[/name_m], Peppilotta, [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], Gabja and [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] - all connected to children’s books that I loved when I was little.
