Felix!

So, [name]Felix[/name] has been on my list for awhile now but today we were watching reruns of Master Chef and one of the contestants was a cute [name]Asian[/name] girl named [name]Felix[/name]. I have considered [name]Felix[/name] for a girl before but I was worried about it becoming too popular so I kind of pushed it aside for either gender. So, what are your thoughts on [name]Felix[/name]? I know it’s a Nameberry cardinal sin, but I feel like I deserve equal feedback on my name choices. I understand that it’s not everyone’s style, but if you could give me some general thoughts on the name itself… do you see it becoming too popular in the next few years?

The only problem I see is that my middle name choices don’t really work with it… but I’m not really tied to any of the middles, I could find something else if needed.

[name]Felix[/name] [name]Faye[/name] - kind of cute I guess, I don’t mind alliteration
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Alys[/name] - just doesn’t sound right
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name] - works I suppose…

[name]Felix[/name] is all boy to me. You could always have a [name]Felicity[/name] nick named [name]Felix[/name]. It hasn’t really reached unisex island. As far as popularity… i don’t think it will ever be super popular in the United States. It feels both daring, and old man all at the same time. It has a lot of the same charm as [name]Alfie[/name]… so it could get more popular in [name]Brittan[/name]. My best association with the name is [name]Harry[/name] [name]Potter[/name], “Liquid [name]Luck[/name]” lol I see an all star male athlete named [name]Felix[/name].

Sorry to say this, but are you sure it isn’t just a nickname for [name]Felicity[/name] or [name]Felicia[/name]? [name]Felix[/name] is cute, I can see the appeal (yes, for a girl). But still, it’s a boy name.

I know 2 little boys called [name]Felix[/name], I’ve never heard it used for a girl before, but that’s not to say that it can’t be. From your list I like [name]Felix[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name] best, incidentally I know of a little girl called [name]Cordelia[/name], [name]Cordy[/name] for short. I just adore it.

OMG!
I always [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Felix[/name] for a girl!
If [name]Maxwell[/name] and [name]Lincoln[/name] have been used for so why not [name]Felix[/name].[name]Imo[/name] this name is soft and not too masculine
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name] is stunning!

[name]How[/name] about
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Anastasia[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Rosalind[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Melisande[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Violet[/name]
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Indigo[/name]

I think it could definitely work, and it fits in with your style… I don’t think it will get too popular, it isn’t where I come from anyway. I do like the idea of it being a shortened version of [name]Felicity[/name]

RGE; [name]Felix[/name] on a girl works wonderfully. No, let me rephrase. [name]Felix[/name] on your little girl will work wonderfully. I adore [name]Felix[/name] [name]Fae[/name], it is beyond cute! I think pairing it with [name]Cordelia[/name] is a bad idea, it just looks too different to me. You need a feminine name but I’d stay away from the very pink frills if I was you.

I have to say, I have been very opposed to the whole boy names on girls thing, but I really appreciate the way you work through the names, your naming style, how brave you are and the way you are able to find names that to me have always sounded completely masculine and make them sound adorable on little girls. I think you’ve got an amazing amount of gumption, and I really admire you.

Completely agree. There are certain traditionally male names that I think have no business being used for a girl, but somehow I don’t think [name]Felix[/name] is one of those, since, to me (and probably ottilie as well, since she is a saucy Classics minx,) it is a latin adjective when it comes down to it,that means [name]Happy[/name]! What’s not to love about that?

Sorry, not a fan. You could always nickname a [name]Felicity[/name] [name]Felix[/name] but I would feel so bad for a grown-up woman with that real name.
What about changing the name a bit(cruel for a berry, a know) and getting [name]Felixia[/name]? Like your own feminization, I don’t know…
[name]Felix[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name] is cute but I am afraid it may not appeal to you after “boy name on girl” trend gets down.
That all being said, I think you should use the name you love. That’s not our business, that’s your kid.

I actually went to school with a really posh, but extremely cool, girl called [name]Felicity[/name] who was exclusively know as [name]Felix[/name]. Because of that, it actually looks odd on a boy for me! It really suited her, very quirky and playful but strong and self-assured. She was sometimes called [name]Fifi[/name] or Flicky or Lixy just for fun, but she was [name]Felix[/name] on all her schoolbooks, bus pass etc and still goes by the name. In fact she hated [name]Felicity[/name]. I think it works really well!

My favorite of your combos is [name]Felix[/name] [name]Cordelia[/name] but I feel like [name]Felix[/name] [name]Faye[/name] sounds better with [name]Rowan[/name] [name]Jane[/name] and sounds more like you… Does that makes sense?

I think I like [name]Sawyer[/name] [name]Faye[/name] more (stealing from your signature) than [name]Felix[/name] [name]Faye[/name].

I love it! [name]One[/name] of my daughter’s classmates is a girl named [name]Elliot[/name] and I wish I had thought of that one first. [name]Felix[/name] feels similar to me, so cute and original.

[name]Felix[/name] on a girl breaks my heart. But it’s because I love it sooooo much on a boy I just can’t imagine it otherwise.
However, I can totally see your family making it work.
I’m still hung up on [name]Alys[/name] for you and could totally see variant [name]Felix[/name] [name]Elise[/name] working really well.

You could do [name]Alix[/name] [name]Fae[/name]. [name]Alix[/name] is the medieval French version of [name]Alice[/name], you get the -lix ending, still has that slight masculine feel even though it is a legit femine name. And it’s very chic in [name]France[/name] at the moment!

I still love [name]Felix[/name] though, just wanted to throw it in there!

Your daughter [name]Rowan[/name]'s name is unisex. [name]Felix[/name] is not. It’s all-male. A male saint’s name at that (and that’s a sacred association to some religious people like me). It saddens me that anyone would choose it for a girl. I don’t think it works for a girl and why consider it when there is a perfectly fine feminine forms like [name]Felicity[/name] or [name]Felice[/name]? It’s also very different in style to [name]Rowan[/name]. I think [name]Sawyer[/name] is a better “fit” with [name]Rowan[/name]. Alternatives: [name]Phoenix[/name], [name]Calix[/name] or [name]Lennox[/name].

Aww thank you ottillie! I take that as a huge compliment.

I get what you mean about frills, [name]Cordelia[/name] is only an option because my husband likes it… but its probably not an option with [name]Felix[/name]. I guess I am going to have to start searching new middle options soon.

I actually love [name]Alix[/name] and have considered it, but we know soooooo many [name]Alex[/name]'s it would be kind of unoriginal I think.

Honestly, I would roll my eyes and then feel sad if I heard of a girl with this as her actual name.

[name]Felix[/name] is adorable, but I hate it on a girl. It reminds me of [name]Jessica[/name] [name]Simpson[/name] naming her daughter [name]Maxwell[/name] [name]Drew[/name]. Awful! But I do think it could work as a nickname to [name]Felicity[/name], that is cute!

A resounding no on [name]Felix[/name] for a girl, from me. I can’t say no enough to that idea, I too would roll my eyes at it.

However, I really do like [name]Felicity[/name] nn [name]Felix[/name] (if [name]Felix[/name] has to be used)

As for your [name]Felix[/name] combos, I do like [name]Felix[/name] [name]Fae[/name], but it’s far too androgynous for my liking.

Other ideas:
[name]Alix[/name]
