I am eight months pregnant with our second child, and although we don’t know the gender I want to figure out the name before the baby comes. Although my family back in the states would prefer an American name (for pronunciation purposes, I presume), we are trying to go towards [name_m]French[/name_m] names so he/she will fit in more in [name_m]French[/name_m] school, etc.
Please let me know what you think of these names and feel free to add some, we’re also looking for help composing a three-name combo! Our last name is [name_m]Gautier[/name_m], pronounced somewhat like “go-tee-yay”. [name_u]Baby[/name_u]'s sister is named [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]El[/name_f]éonore [name_f]Lise[/name_f].
only for second or third names:
[name_f]Ariane[/name_f]
[name_f]Clothilde[/name_f] (clo-teeld)
[name_f]Laure[/name_f]
[name_f]Morgane[/name_f]
[name_f]Brigitte[/name_f]
If there are any [name_m]French[/name_m] names that you know and love please help us!
thanks in advance,
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f] & [name_m]Julien[/name_m] and big sister [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_f]Flora[/name_f] [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f] is beautiful I love big sister’s name! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you need any other name suggestions? Here are some:
Thank you, silvercandles I hadn’t yet thought of putting [name_f]Flora[/name_f] as a second name but I must say, the combo is quite striking! Amélie is one of my favorite names, and I think it would go especially well with [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]'s name. Also, I love love the name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], it’s my lifetime best friend’s name and I would definitely consider it for a second or third name!
thanks again!
[name_f]Caroline[/name_f]
I like [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] + [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] + [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. [name_m]Both[/name_m] 3-syllables and very pretty, like [name_f]Juliette[/name_f].
Like I commented on your boy thread, I think it would be nice for this next child to have something of your name, since [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] + [name_m]Julien[/name_m] now have their tie.
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Isaline[/name_f] (lots of Cs and [name_f]LINE[/name_f] for your name)
[name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_f]Isaline[/name_f] [name_f]Laure[/name_f]
"Our last name is [name_m]Gautier[/name_m], pronounced somewhat like “go-tee-yay”. [name_u]Baby[/name_u]'s sister is named [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]El[/name_f]éonore [name_f]Lise[/name_f]. "
I like [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Isaline[/name_f], [name_f]Manon[/name_f]. I also think [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], [name_f]Lea[/name_f], and [name_f]Anne[/name_f]-[name_f]Laure[/name_f] go great with [name_f]Juliette[/name_f].
[name_m]How[/name_m] about: [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f], or [name_f]Cecily[/name_f] [name_f]Clothilde[/name_f], or [name_f]Isaline[/name_f] [name_f]Ariane[/name_f]
only for second or third names:
[name_f]Ariane[/name_f]
[name_f]Clothilde[/name_f] (clo-teeld)
[name_f]Laure[/name_f]
[name_f]Morgane[/name_f]
[name_f]Brigitte[/name_f]
I think [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Flora[/name_f], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f] and [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] are the names which work best in [name_m]French[/name_m] and English and I think they all go well with [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. I would also suggest [name_f]Madeleine[/name_f] and [name_f]Clara[/name_f].
As for combos, I like [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] Léa [name_f]Brigitte[/name_f].
Thank you everyone, I’m definitely considering working my own name into the baby’s name, since we already have [name_m]Julien[/name_m] and [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. Incorporating [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] into the same sounds wonderful, especially because it is my lifetime best friend’s name and it is just as well known back in the states.
thanks again for your fabulous input!
On a Windows-based computer, you can enter them by pressing Alt plus a certain numeric code at the same time (you must enter it with the numeric keypad, not the numbers above the letters) as described here. For example, to get é you’d enter Alt+0233. For è it’s Alt+0232 (note the codes are different for lower- and upper-case letters).
(I learned about this when I did my [name_m]French[/name_m] Names Tournament, and wanted to include the proper accents with the names.)
From your list, I like [name_f]Mathilde[/name_f], [name_f]Amelie[/name_f], [name_f]Cecily[/name_f], and [name_f]Isaline[/name_f] best with [name_f]Juliette[/name_f]. I like the idea of using [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] as a mn and way to honor you and your friend too. Some other names that would work well: [name_f]Coralie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Helene[/name_f], [name_f]Ghislaine[/name_f], [name_f]Millicent[/name_f], [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Leonore[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f], [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f].
I am loving all your suggestions! I’ve always loved [name_f]Axelle[/name_f], it feels very [name_m]French[/name_m] and I love the feminine feel with the edgy “x”. Amélie and Chloé are top contenders though, especially because they’re pretty close to their English counterparts.
Definitely looking forward to sharing some new combos with [name_m]Julien[/name_m] tonight!
Thank you all!
