Full Name for Elsie That is Not Elizabeth

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] berries. (not ttc) I have loved the name [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] for years, but the more I think about using it in the future, the more I wonder if it is too nicknamey. I know it is a diminutive of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is just so common where I live, I don’t think I would ever use it. It’s not my personal favorite name either.

[name_m]Can[/name_m] [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] be its own name, and stand alone, or is it too nicknamey? If it is too nicknamey, what are some full names that [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] can be a nickname for.

Thanks guys!

I know an [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] that goes by [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]! I also know that plenty of Berries might use it on its own.

@almostactually - Beautiful names! Thank you!

@futuremama - [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] with the nickname [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] has been on my list in the past, but didn’t think it was an obvious nickname, but I would definitely consider [name_f]Eloise[/name_f]! Thank you!

I definitely think [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] can stand on its own. I have a friend who named her daughter [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] actually. But if you’re looking for [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] to be the
nn then [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f] would be the name I think that would make the most sense.

I actually prefer [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] to [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] as its not quite as sugary sweet for me, the only problem is the Frozen connotation… Although Frozen is great :joy:

Elsie can stand on its own. It is cute. But it can be also a nickname for [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] (one that hasn’t mentioned yet).

@anon68906791 - love the LC initial suggestions, because my initials are CL, and I could do my initials backwards, and still be able to use [name_f]Elsie[/name_f]. Such a good idea!

[name_f]Elsinore[/name_f]
[name_f]Elsa[/name_f]

@mirais - [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] has been on my radar for a little while now, but would have never had but [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] together. I love it! And I love [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] Getty from [name_u]Golden[/name_u] Girls, so that would be a lovely association to have!

I’ve had both [name_f]Eloise[/name_f] and [name_f]Estelle[/name_f] nn [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] on my list before! Unfortunately, [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] has been used in my family (as a full name so another vote for it works on its own too!) but I love the nickname still.

Love the suggestions of Eloise and Estelle

Something like Emmeline Sophie, Elowen Sophie or Esther Louise might work

It can definitely stand on its own!
But there’s also a lot of great suggestions here.
Good luck

I think [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] is a lovely full name all on its own!

Just wanted to add to the lovely suggestions: for something more unisex if you fancy it, [name_u]Ellis[/name_u] or [name_u]Ellison[/name_u] would lead perfectly.

Elsie can def stand on it’s own. You could also use:
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f]
[name_f]Stella[/name_f]
