Full name for Minnie

I would like to use [name]Minnie[/name] as a nickname for a little girl. I don’t, however, just want to go with [name]Minnie[/name]- I want a more formal full name that my girl can use when she’s older in case [name]Minnie[/name] gets to be too “young” of a name. The main problem is that husband isn’t crazy about any of the formal names I’ve found to go with [name]Minnie[/name] ([name]Amelia[/name], [name]Wilhelmina[/name], [name]Minerva[/name] [though, I would never choose this either], and [name]Margaret[/name]). I’m at a loss for ideas, so do any of you have suggestions for full names that could use [name]Minnie[/name] as a nickname?

[name]Melanie[/name]
[name]Mina[/name]
[name]Minuet[/name]
[name]Milena[/name]
[name]Carmine[/name]/[name]Carmen[/name]
[name]Cameron[/name]
Minna
Hermione

[name]Araminta[/name]. [name]Love[/name] this, although it might not be everyone’s cup of tea. I do feel it’s name enough to stand alone, so no middle name necessary… always thought [name]Minnie[/name] would be a cute nickname for this because the usual alternative nn [name]Minty[/name] is distasteful to some people I know.

[name]Minette[/name]
[name]Mina[/name]
[name]Monica[/name]
[name]Melina[/name]
[name]Midnight[/name]
[name]Mckenna[/name]
[name]Marian[/name]
Phelomina
[name]Ramona[/name]
[name]Rosamund[/name]
Manora
[name]Jessamine[/name]
[name]Imogen[/name] (might be stretching it)
[name]Harmony[/name]
[name]Amena[/name]

Thats all icould come up with. I looked through a baby name book specifically looking for names with an n following an m. It isn’t the best baby name book, so maybe there are more.

As a [name]Minnie[/name], I thought I’d weigh in on this one! My “real” name is Minuette (min-you-eh-teh) so thats one for you to consider. [name]Jasmine[/name] and [name]Mina[/name] would also work.

You could always look for names meaning small/petite/little etc: Katania, [name]Paula[/name], [name]Paulina[/name], [name]Paulette[/name], [name]Cosette[/name], [name]Nina[/name], [name]Talitha[/name], [name]Malva[/name] are a few I’ve found.

[name]Hope[/name] thats useful

Also perhap [name]Yasmin[/name]

I think [name]Minuet[/name] or [name]Yasmin[/name] are lovely suggestions. You might also like [name]Jessamine[/name] or [name]Jasmine[/name]. Another name that comes to mind is Minver. It is an obscure Cornish female name.

Miniver is variant of the Cornish female saint name. “Mrs. Miniver” was a popular wartime film starring [name]Greer[/name] [name]Garson[/name]. St Minver is a place in Cornwall, [name]England[/name].

It also appears in some records as Minver.

Throwing out some other “opinions” (not sure if any are your style) (also sorry for repeats too)

[name]Adamina[/name]
[name]Amina[/name]
[name]Carmina[/name] / [name]Carmine[/name]
[name]Dominica[/name] / [name]Dominika[/name]
[name]Gemini[/name]
[name]Jasmina[/name] / [name]Yasmina[/name]
[name]Lumina[/name]
[name]Pamina[/name] (a very lovely name found in [name]Mozart[/name]'s [name]Magic[/name] Flute)
[name]Samina[/name]

Building on the above [name]Mina[/name] suggestions, (boy, [name]Pamina[/name] is lovely!) there is also the Frisian female name, Tamina and the Persian, Tahmina.

Check out this recent thread- it has lots of suggestions

[name]Jemima[/name] also comes to mind.

[name]Gelsomina[/name]
Jacomina/Giacomina
[name]Romina[/name]
[name]Domini[/name]/[name]Domini[/name]/[name]Dominga[/name]
[name]Hermina[/name]

I love the suggestions of [name]Gelsomina[/name], [name]Romina[/name] & [name]Domini[/name]

Another vote for [name]Romina[/name]! [name]Mina[/name] is my favorite nn for my daughter but she likes [name]Romy[/name]. Well, it’s her name, her life, who am I to argue?

I absolutely adore [name]Minnie[/name], but like you, I do think it needs a full name. Personally I think just about any name beginning with “M” can work. I’m crazy about [name]Matilda[/name] or [name]Madeline[/name] nn [name]Minnie[/name]. They work a bit like [name]Kitty[/name] for the full name [name]Katherine[/name]. It’s always refreshing to take a lovely classic but relatively well-used name and spice it up with an unexpected nickname - this would really make it “her’s”.

[name]Araminta[/name]
[name]Clementine[/name]/[name]Clementina[/name]
[name]Jessamine[/name]
[name]Miranda[/name]
[name]Thomasine[/name]/[name]Thomasina[/name]

A couple of them might be a bit of a stretch, but whatever. Plus there’s probably more that I’m not thinking of.

[name]Jasmine[/name] or yasmin

[name]Melisande[/name]
[name]Hermione[/name]
