I’m considering [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as a stand alone name, but other than [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] (which is NMS) what are some other possibilities that would let us use [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as a nickname? [name_f]TIA[/name_f]!
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f] / [name_f]Brigid[/name_f]
I agree with backing [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] up with a substantial full name. [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] might not be professional enough for her if she wants to go into [name_m]Law[/name_m] or Business, for example.
There’s the obvious [name_f]Birdena[/name_f], but that might not be enough of a standalone name.
Try…
[name_f]Bridget[/name_f]
Brydie
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_f]Berta[/name_f]
[name_f]Belinda[/name_f]
[name_f]Berenice[/name_f]/[name_f]Bernice[/name_f]
[name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]
[name_f]Brie[/name_f]
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f]
[name_f]Alberta[/name_f]
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] ([name_f]Beth[/name_f]->[name_f]Betty[/name_f]->Bitty->[name_f]Birdie[/name_f])
Or why not try a bird name?
[name_f]Lark[/name_f]
[name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_u]Dove[/name_u]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]
[name_u]Raven[/name_u]
[name_f]Avis[/name_f]
[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_f]Starling[/name_f]
[name_f]Deryn[/name_f]
[name_f]Sparrow[/name_f]
[name_u]Jay[/name_u]
[name_f]Rhea[/name_f]
[name_f]Mavis[/name_f]
I would personally go with the bird name route. Many of the hard B names are dated and heavy, hardly befitting the youthful and carefree [name_f]Birdie[/name_f].
Good luck!
I love the suggestion of [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f]. But I think I like just [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] better, instead of have a longer name
Thanks for sharing this! Can [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] really be used for [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]?! [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is at the top of our list right now and using [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as nn if it’s not too much of a stretch would be PERFECT!!
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is a fantastic name! I think you could definitely use [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as a nn.
Nicknames can be a stretch, sure - it happens that way organically, anyway. We often call our daughter [name_f]Pixie[/name_f] (because we called her “Pickle” > “Pix” > “[name_f]Pixie[/name_f]”), which is nowhere near her actual name. At least [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] share some sounds! Plus, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is a GORGEOUS name!
I think [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] nn [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is totally fine! I am a huge fan of “stretched” nicknames. Meaning that I think [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] nn [name_m]Ben[/name_m] is very boring and I like more creative options, like [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] nn [name_u]Beau[/name_u]. I know this is different because [name_f]Zoey[/name_f] is my dog, but her nickname is [name_m]Brown[/name_m] [name_f]Sugar[/name_f] because she’s so sweet.
But, if you use [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Birdie[/name_f], you miss out on calling her [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. I would use the more intuitive [name_f]Bridget[/name_f]. Or, name her [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and call her [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].
I have [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] as a second middle name, [name_f]Grace[/name_f] [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]. She would be nicknamed [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]. My dad called my mom [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]. My mom passed almost a year ago. [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] is very special to me. Honestly I think any girl or woman can be given the pet name [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]. My dad calls me Pumpkin, not related to my name at all.
You could do [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] or [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] with a D name in the middle.
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u] would be perfect!
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Dawn[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Delphine[/name_f] ( love!)
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Delilah[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_u]Day[/name_u]
Therea also [name_f]Birgitta[/name_f] which I find really interesting
Some lovely suggestions, everyone! I especially like [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_u]Dove[/name_u], but we’d like to go with an “A” middle since we (accidentally) gave both our older daughters A middles and now kind of like the tradition.
What about [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Alouette[/name_f] and then nickname [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]? Of course we’d still call her [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] much of the time so we wouldn’t lose that, but [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] would be a fun option for family to use.
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Alouette[/name_f] is darling!
I agree with the suggestion of going with a bird name to get to [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] rather than a B name.
[name_u]Wren[/name_u] is my favorite bird name.
I love the name [name_f]Birdie[/name_f]! Thought of using it myself, but also have a few reservations on using it as a full first name. I also love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]!
I have a friend who has a [name_f]Birdie[/name_f] and her daughters first name is [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]
Or [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Aviana[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Avis[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Aya[/name_f]
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Aya[/name_f] is lovely! Thanks for the suggestions!
[name_f]Brigid[/name_f] would be my choice.
