Girl Names! (TRIPLETS)

Some of you may have seen my other posts. I am expecting triplets, but I want to be surprised. So I’m trying to prepare myself at least 3 girl names and 3 boy names.

DH and I are disagreeing on how popular / unique the names should be. In my last post I discussed my 10 favorite T100 names for girls. He’s definitely warming up to some B900 names after we’ve talked about it more.

*I want to honor my late mother [name_f]Lia[/name_f]. Either in the names or through their initials (as some wonderful berries suggested!) Her full name was [name_f]Lia[/name_f] Orsini-[name_m]Rossi[/name_m]. She has no middle name. [name_f]My[/name_f] name is [name_f]Lola[/name_f], no middle name. Have never met another [name_f]Lola[/name_f] my age. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t want something that obscure but still unique.

[name_f]My[/name_f] last name is short and Italian. For a placeholder, we’ll use “Manco”.

Top 10 Bottom 900 Names

  1. [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] ([name_f]Lilia[/name_f] is my absolute favorite name! I love how it honors my mother and I think it’s beautiful.) DH approved

  2. [name_f]Lila[/name_f] lie-lah (DH suggested this name. He said it looks like a mash-up of [name_f]Lia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lola[/name_f]. [name_u]Li[/name_u]-la. That would be beautiful to me. I’m starting to think about it more.) DH suggestion

  3. [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] (I mentioned in my other post that I really liked [name_f]Olivia[/name_f], but we already have on in the family. I also like [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], I think this name has the best parts of both names. And -lia.) DH hesitant

  4. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] (Pretty and seemingly timeless name. Would pair well with [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]. Not sure if I should use more common [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] which has -lia in it.) DH approved

  5. [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] (DH likes [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] and [name_f]Aria[/name_f]. Has -lia and is less common than the others.) DH hesitant

  6. Isalia or [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] (Has [name_f]Lia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lea[/name_f]. More unique). DH hesitant

  7. [name_f]Iris[/name_f] (Would work if I do L-I-A. Less common but not obscure. I love flowers if it shows!) DH hesitant

  8. [name_f]Availia[/name_f] or [name_f]Evalina[/name_f] (I like [name_f]Ava[/name_f]/Eva, but think that name is so common a variation like this would just seem weird.)

  9. [name_u]Elia[/name_u] (Has -lia, matches more common trends. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t know how it would sound with [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]. But [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_u]Elia[/name_u] has a cute ring to it.) DH approved

  10. [name_f]India[/name_f] or [name_f]Iliana[/name_f] (Some great suggestions from my last post. [name_m]Can[/name_m]'t decide which I like better.)

[name_f]My[/name_f] favorite pairings so far:
[name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] ([name_f]Lia[/name_f]+[name_f]Lola[/name_f], "O"rsini+[name_f]Lia[/name_f], "[name_f]Ros[/name_f]"si. And they all chart between 200-400. Not obscure, not common, and not inconsistent.)
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] (i love flowers. L-I-A. Not obscure, not common, but maybe too thematic.)
If only 2 girls:
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_u]Elia[/name_u]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
If only 1 girl it will be [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lila[/name_f].

Let me know what you think and feel free to offer new suggestions / pairings! [name_m]Will[/name_m] work on official Top 9 (3 T100 + 3 B900) Next week I start boys!

I’m happy to see your update! It’s great that you’re expanding to last names and your name. It does give you more options to work with. And gives each girl a unique tribute.

It’s also great to hear you and DH are finding a compromise. With nicknames and variations, they may be more common than DH realizes.

I’m writing this with your last post in mind. I’m going to give you my favorites out of all 20.

Lilia - you clearly love this name. it’s never wrong to trust your intuition. and with all the lily-variations it won’t be seen as obscure, but unique.
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] - LOVE THE STORY BEHIND THIS NAME. if you’re warming up to it, you could interchange [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Lila[/name_f] depending on the rest of the set.
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f] or [name_u]Elia[/name_u]/Eleanor - both have more common nicknames and are on current trends but still unique.
[name_f]Sophia[/name_f] or [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] - Depending on the set and how common you want the names to be. Nms for [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] can be [name_u]Elia[/name_u], [name_f]Fia[/name_f], FiFi, [name_f]Pia[/name_f], [name_f]Sophie[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f].
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] - I think people would understand [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] fine. Would interchange depending on other 2 names.
[name_f]Iris[/name_f] - simple, beautiful, unique. Nicknames can be RiRi, [name_u]Izzy[/name_u]
[name_f]Azalea[/name_f] or [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] - After [name_m]Iggy[/name_m] [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] and [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] [name_u]Banks[/name_u] i think the new generation will be more familiar with this name than you think. Isn’t far from [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] which DH does like. Nicknames [name_u]Izzy[/name_u], [name_f]Lea[/name_f], [name_u]Allie[/name_u], [name_m]Zale[/name_m], ZaZa

My favorite sets:
3 girls
[name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] (what you said. it tributes you, your mother, and your love of flowers)
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] (if you love flowers, don’t be shy. these names are totally in.)
[name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_u]Elia[/name_u], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]
I think all of these fall in the sweet spot between too common and too obscure. T100 picks:
[name_f]Leah[/name_f], [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f], [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
2 girls
[name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_u]Elia[/name_u]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f]/Lila and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] (tribute to you and your mother) Nnms [name_f]Lila[/name_f] and [name_u]Elia[/name_u] / [name_f]Lia[/name_f] and [name_f]Pia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]/Aurora (for you and DH)
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] and [name_f]Emilia[/name_f]
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Sofia[/name_f]
[name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]

Many great choices! See what boy names match the best. Follow your heart!

Lila, [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] are definitely finding their places in my heart. I love the [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] nicknames you shared. Might help convince DH!!!

I also like your combination suggestions. I want to plan for 1, 2, or 3. I want to work on boys before I make my final 3.

Yes! And now you have [name_f]Lia[/name_f], I-, [name_m]Al[/name_m], A-, O-, and R names that can tribute your mother. Along with any others from the father’s side.

His name starts with A. [name_m]Al[/name_m] seems to be the only trend on his side. Maybe J?? I’m gonna look at T500 and see what pairs with our girl names.

In my heart I feel like I’m having mostly or all girls, but I can’t leave it up to chance. I want to prepare for 3.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] this! And if you have two girls I like [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. If just one girl I vote [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]. All of the names on this list are beautiful, so you can’t go wrong!

[name_f]Lila[/name_f]! (Definitely)
[name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] has been growing on me recently. So classy, feminine, & mature
Isalia - I love the soft “s” sound compared to [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. But both are great options

Lilia, [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f] are lovely

Lilah (I think the H makes it more complete and different from her sisters’ names), [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], and [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]! Sold!!!

Do more obscure and not the popular ones you previously posted.

So mant great options! I think [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] or [name_f]Lila[/name_f] is a definite for you. And given your partner’s fondness for [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], I think it will be easier to persuade him in favor of [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f] than [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] would be an excellent set and be a good compromise of both of your tastes ([name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f] work too but are obviously more matchy with the endings.)

I have to go look at your other thread again to refresh my memory, but I’ll be back with some sibset ideas that are a mix of both lists.

Okay I’m back!

Something I was wondering, would you consider Lillian/ Lilian? Because thinking about it, Lillian, Aurelia, and Rosalie would all have -li or -lia but sound very distinct from each other.
Likewise Lillian, Iris, and Aurelia would all be distinct and spell out Lia for you.

Looking at your list of more common names there are a few that work well with Lilia
Lilia, Mia, and Sofia- all end in -ia but still sound distinct from each other.
And if you decided you wanted them all to end in -lia, then Lilia, Julia, and Aurelia/ Ophelia work well in terms of sounding different from each other/not overly rhymey despite all ending in the same sound group.

Also looking at the more popular list, many of those names could work nicely as middle names for your other selections.
For example, Aurelia Charlotte would probably win your partner over.

And finally I have a few random suggestions:
Since you love Olivia (but can’t use) and Ophelia (but your partner isn’t sure) may Odilia/ Odelia will be appealing to you? Octavia also comes to mind.
If you and your partner feel stuck with Aurora, Aria, Aurelia, and Azalea, but you’re still interested in spelling out Lia, maybe Anita? Super familiar to the point of not feeling uncommon, despite not even ranking in top 1000 since 2004.
Lilia/ Lila, Iris, and Anita?
Oh which brings me to other I- names since Iris seems to be the main I- name being floated at the moment and India, Iliana, and Isalia seem like they aren’t working for your partner.
Isadora/ Isidora (similar to Aurora?)
Isla- on the trendy side but not nearly as popular aso some of your other considerations.
Irina- a more flowery variation of Irene.
Idalia- ends with -lia.
Inara- might appeal given your interest in India? Somewhat similar to Aurora.
Ilana (simmilar to Iliana but a little more paired down.)
Ivara- similar to Eva and Aurora.
Ismeria- ends in -ia.
Inessa (a frilly variation of Ines/ Agnes.)
Isala - a Beligian name that seems to fit nicely with your other considerations.

[name_f]Lilian[/name_f] is a beautiful name. I think it’s more of a cultural thing. Italian girl names usually end in “a”. That’s also why I don’t think I would use [name_f]Lilah[/name_f]. Cause our culture doesn’t really add “h” at the end of names. It depends on the name, but [name_f]Lila[/name_f]/Lilia are names I think sound better with a soft -a.

I have thought of [name_f]Liliana[/name_f] as an alternative. [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]/Ophelia, and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]. But I have to sit on it.

Ah I understand! Between [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] and [name_f]Liliana[/name_f], I do personally prefer [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], but they’re both really pretty names!

Lila, [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f], and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] is such a great option for the reasons you outlined—I love how it pulls from all three of your mother’s names, and your own!

Lila - interesting i automatically pronounce it lee-la

Lilia, [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] is a lovely pairing!

My favourite pairing would be [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f]

If you have one girl definitely go [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]!

Congratulations! Beautiful names!

My favorite combo is [name_f]Lila[/name_f], [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f]!

I also love the flower combo [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Iris[/name_f] and [name_f]Azalea[/name_f]. I love theme names that aren’t so matchy matchy and I feel like these 3 go good together without being too matchy.

Another flower name I love is [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f]. But that starts a with D so guess it wouldn’t fit work for the initials.

Either way you can’t go wrong, love all the names!

I have thought of this name. I think it’s beautiful. But out loud it sounds very similar to [name_f]Lilia[/name_f]. I like that it has “lia”. I’ll pitch it to DH. He might like it better than [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] or [name_f]Ophelia[/name_f]. Great suggestion!

I love [name_f]Lilia[/name_f], [name_f]Azalea[/name_f] and [name_f]Iris[/name_f]. I love this connection for them as triplets without having nanes that sound too much alike!

Some of the other suggestions almost seem rhymey to me. This is my favorite concept- but I do like themes.

I thought about [name_f]Violet[/name_f] and [name_f]Dahlia[/name_f] and [name_f]Florence[/name_f] for triplets so my mind has gone into this theme!

I agree. I think name variations that end in a straight “a” are prettier than the ones that add extra letters.

Like [name_f]Ava[/name_f] not [name_f]Avah[/name_f]. The only exception I would see is [name_f]Leah[/name_f] not [name_f]Lea[/name_f].

I really like this! They go really well together!
