Halley Guinevere???

[name]Halley[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]

What do you think of this for a baby girl? [name]Halley[/name] to honor astronomy ([name]Halley[/name]'s [name]Comet[/name]) and [name]Guinevere[/name] to honor Arthurian legend. Cute or not?

[name]Halley[/name] is cute, but way too nicknamey and cutesy for me. If you want to honor astronomy, pick something like [name]Lyra[/name], Astraia, Casseiopeia, [name]Bellatrix[/name], or [name]Arista[/name]. I do like [name]Guinevere[/name] for a middle, though…

I really love [name]Guinevere[/name], but with [name]Halley[/name] being so close to the trendy [name]Hailey[/name]/[name]Haylee[/name]/[name]Hayleigh[/name]/[name]Haley[/name] names, the styles of the two names, [name]Halley[/name] and [name]Guinevere[/name], feel very different. (I do like the flow, though!)

([name]Pam[/name] and [name]Linda[/name] wrote a blog on the -aley “meganame” trend, which includes names like [name]Baylee[/name]/Baleigh/[name]Caylee[/name]/Braylee/Jayley/[name]Hailey[/name]/Shaylie, etc.: https://nameberry.com/blog/2009/04/07/the-million-baby-name/)

I think [name]Guinevere[/name] is amazing, though!

Some more names you may like:

[name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Luna[/name]
[name]Nova[/name]
[name]Stella[/name]
[name]Ciel[/name]
[name]Estella[/name]

Good luck!

When I saw “[name]Halley[/name]” I assumed it was prn [name]HAL[/name]-ee but when I read your explanation that it was to honor [name]Halley[/name]'s comet I was confused - isn’t the comet prn like HAY-lee? [name]May[/name] have pronunciation issues with that spelling.

Yes, I’ve always wondered about that too, with the spelling issue. But this is how you spell [name]Halley[/name]'s [name]Comet[/name]. And, I don’t want the name to be associated with the [name]Kailey[/name]/[name]Bailey[/name]/[name]Shaylee[/name] popular name trend! Oh no!

Perhaps a name more like [name]Guinevere[/name] would be better after all. I do love [name]Estella[/name], guest!

I found some other Welsh names (like [name]Guinevere[/name]) that I really like. What do you think?

[name]Eira[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Kiah[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Nesta[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Nia[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Rhianna[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]

Some others I liked:

[name]Estee[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Estella[/name] [name]Gwendolyn[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Stella[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]

From your revised list I think [name]Stella[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] is just gorgeous!

I must admit though, I thought [name]Halley[/name] was cute. Although I do think it will unfortunately blend in with all the Hayleys, etc. But I love the sound of it and I liked how [name]Guinevere[/name] softened it up.

I loved the flow of the name, too… :frowning:

From your list, I really love [name]Stella[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]. I think that [name]Guinevere[/name] and [name]Gwendolyn[/name] are great names! With [name]Martin[/name], I especially love [name]Guinevere[/name], because [name]Gwendolyn[/name] [name]Martin[/name] has repetitive “in” sounds.

[name]Just[/name] for fun:

[name]Daphne[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Flora[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Isla[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Phoebe[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Scarlett[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] (a bit T heavy with [name]Martin[/name], though)
[name]Willa[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]
[name]Ailsa[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name]

Good luck, [name]Lemon[/name]!

Thanks, [name]Jill[/name]! The last name is actually [name]Mathis[/name], not [name]Martin[/name], so that could change things. But, I prefer the name [name]Guinevere[/name] to [name]Gwendolyn[/name] anyway!

From your bonus list, I like [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] and [name]Isla[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name], so thank you!

Oops! Sorry about that, [name]Lemon[/name]! I couldn’t see your original post as I was typing, but at least I mistook [name]Mathis[/name] for another M name! (I really love your last name.)

I may have asked this already, but have you considered [name]Guinevere[/name] as a first name?

Have a good night!

It’s no problem, [name]Jill[/name]! Actually, I haven’t considered that! What are your thoughts on that? I’m not usually a nickname person - prefer to stick to the real name - but my feelings are that a little girl may not want to be called [name]Guinevere[/name] all the time, and I hate the nickname [name]Gwen[/name] (and it isn’t spelled correctly for [name]Guinevere[/name], which bugs me…). Are there any other nicknames for [name]Guinevere[/name]? And, what might be a pretty middle name with the last name, [name]Mathis[/name]? Thanks for your help!

[name]Hi[/name]! I really love [name]Guinevere[/name], and think it would be so refreshing to hear it on a baby! If you don’t like [name]Gwen[/name] as a nickname for [name]Guinevere[/name], what about Guinnie or [name]Vera[/name]? Although Guinnie is a bit close to Guinea, as in Guinea Pig. Have you thought about [name]Genevieve[/name] as a first name? You could call her [name]Evie[/name]…

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Bronwen[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Jane[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Kate[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Laurel[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]

[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]
[name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Simone[/name]

I think the longer middles work better for the flow, because some of the shorter ones, like [name]Belle[/name] and [name]Kate[/name], sound a bit abrupt to me here for some reason. Hmm…

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] with the nickname [name]Vera[/name], [name]Jill[/name]! Thank you! Actually, I know a [name]Genevieve[/name], so that won’t do for me. I agree about the longer middle name as well, so let me write which I like from your suggestions:

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Viola[/name] [name]Mathis[/name] - I really like this
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Helena[/name] [name]Mathis[/name] - I love [name]Helena[/name], maybe I should save that for another girl?

Thanks!

I also like [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]…and [name]Helena[/name] [name]Bryony[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]!

You’re so welcome. I’m really glad that you like [name]Vera[/name] as nickname for [name]Guinevere[/name]! Yea! I think that [name]Guinevere[/name] “[name]Vera[/name]” [name]Mathis[/name] is SO elegant!

I listed those alternate names as potential first names, but if you like some in the middle, that’s great!

[name]How[/name] do you feel about middles with two syllables paired with [name]Guinevere[/name]? I really love the flow of [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Simone[/name] and [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name], for example, and am thinking that a middle with three syllables doesn’t flow as well. When I mentioned longer middles, I meant two syllables instead of one, but what matters, of course, is that you love the flow!

Oh! I really love [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name].

Best wishes to you!

I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Mathis[/name], and I like [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Bryony[/name] or [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Scarlett[/name]. You could also try [name]Gwynn[/name] (if it appeals more than [name]Gwen[/name]), [name]Winn[/name], [name]Gigi[/name] or [name]Vivi[/name].

Now that you mention it, a three-syllable middle name does seem a bit of a mouthful to me. As much as I like [name]Eliza[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name], I think [name]Guinevere[/name] may be “cooler” as a first name. Thoughts? I honestly don’t care for [name]Simone[/name] or [name]Scarlett[/name], personally, but I do like the idea of using [name]Sarah[/name] to honor my sister, perhaps [name]Sara[/name] instead of [name]Sarah[/name]. [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Sara[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]. Now that I say it, it doesn’t seem to flow well…I’m having a really hard time finding a middle name to go with [name]Guinevere[/name] that I don’t think sounds better as a first name with [name]Guinevere[/name] as the middle name (if that makes any sense…). HELP!

Thank you. (Oh, and [name]Vera[/name] is definitely sticking if we choose [name]Guinevere[/name] as the first name!)

[name]Hi[/name] there! I totally understand that you don’t care for [name]Scarlett[/name], but I was just trying to offer an example of a middle name with two syllables. No problemo.

More middles (a lot of them Welsh):

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Anwen[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Elain[/name] [name]Mathis[/name] (I keep wanting to type an E to make it [name]Elaine[/name])
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Delphine[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Helene[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Isolde[/name]/[name]Yseult[/name] [name]Mathis[/name] (I love this!)
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Lisette[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Zara[/name] [name]Mathis[/name] (to honor [name]Sarah[/name])–I love [name]Zara[/name] [name]Guinevere[/name] more
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Saraid[/name] [name]Mathis[/name] (From what I found, [name]Saraid[/name] is [name]Sarah[/name] in Irish Gaelic)
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Catrin[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Lynette[/name] [name]Mathis[/name]
[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Olwen[/name] [name]Mathis[/name] (not the best flow)

Did you like [name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]? (I know it’s short, but I think it still works…)

Best wishes to you!

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Isolde[/name] is really catching my eye here! Thanks!

[name]Guinevere[/name] [name]Viola[/name] is pretty
