Having boy & girl twins...need serious girl name help!!

Ladies, my babies are expected in approximately 4-5 weeks and I need some serious help! Our little boy will be called [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Warren[/name_m] after my FIL and father. Our surname is Geist. Here are the names I’m considering for our little girl:

[name_f]Adelyn[/name_f]
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f]
[name_f]Adela[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
Ella
[name_f]Faith[/name_f]
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Rosella[/name_f], [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]

I want to use the middle name [name_f]Marie[/name_f] after my mother, but then I’m leaving [name_f]MIL[/name_f] out, her middle name is [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f], so the only combo I can think of that uses both is [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]…that might be a bit long and fancy sounding?

I need to find a name I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] that sounds good with [name_m]Otto[/name_m].

I appreciate any help and suggestions you can give me!!!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Warren[/name_m] and [name_f]Adela[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]?? I love [name_m]Otto[/name_m] & [name_f]Adela[/name_f] together

[name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f]-[name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] are frequently hyphenated among my [name_m]French[/name_m]-Canadian ancestors. I love the suggestion of [name_f]Adela[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f].

I love [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Warren[/name_m]!
[name_f]Adela[/name_f] and [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] both go nicely with [name_m]Otto[/name_m].
I also like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f].
[name_f]Faith[/name_f] is a not as spunky as [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] is pretty, but popular. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] is rising fast and not my style.
I like [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f].
I also like [name_f]Adela[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. [name_f]Marie[/name_f] is pretty but overused in the middle position.
I also like [name_f]Marie[/name_f] [name_f]Adela[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f].
Good [name_m]Luck[/name_m]! Your choices are beautiful.

Okay, I realize that I may be super lame for even suggesting this, but I like, wait for it…

[FONT=[name_u]Arial[/name_u] [name_m]Black[/name_m]][name_f]Hannah[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f].

Maybe because they are both palindrome names that I find them sort of awesome.

Now that I got that out of my system, I, too, like [name_f]Adela[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f] | [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_u]Jean[/name_u].

Thanks ladies :). I really don’t have to use both [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f], i am really just trying to please everyone! in fact, I’m sort of nervous about two middle names and any complications that would come along with that. Also, my ancestry isn’t [name_m]French[/name_m], it’s [name_m]German[/name_m], not that it matters, but [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] sounds pretty [name_m]French[/name_m].

Does it seem rude to not include my [name_f]MIL[/name_f] name? Her husband and her surname are represented, and she had 2 daughters that didn’t name any children after her…so is it my responsibility?

Keep the suggestions coming!

[name_m]Just[/name_m] thought I would suggest [name_f]Adelia[/name_f], which is my own favourite variation of [name_f]Adele[/name_f].
[name_f]Adela[/name_f] is also very nice, and pairs nicely with both middle names as pp’s have said!

I also love [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] from your list with [name_m]Otto[/name_m].
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] doesn’t sound as amazing with your ln, what about [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]?
[name_f]Rosa[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] would be lovely with [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Warren[/name_m].

Good luck!

While I don’t have any naming suggestions, I do want to say that I don’t think it’s necessary for you to include her name when naming this daughter. It’s perfectly fine to just have [name_f]Marie[/name_f] as a middle name, and potentially honor your mother-in-law with a future daughter, should you have one.

[name_m]Just[/name_m] my two cents! I do like all of the names listed, good luck, and I’m sure whatever you choose will be beautiful (:

I love [name_m]Otto[/name_m] with [name_f]Adela[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] or [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. I don’t think you need to use your [name_f]MIL[/name_f] name unless you really want to. I wouldn’t want the pressure of honoring my mom AND [name_f]MIL[/name_f] in one name.

I [name_f]LOVE[/name_f] [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]! Gorgeous.

I don’t think that it’s your responsibility at all to honour your [name_f]MIL[/name_f] - use [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] if you want to and if you like the name.

My favourites with [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Warren[/name_m]…
[name_f]Adela[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - Personally, I would prefer [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] as I find the m- sounds run together.
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] - Though, in my personal opinion, [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] and [name_f]Marie[/name_f] are too similar in sound to be in the same combination.

If you want to include both names, two middle names is really no problem. I have two and they’re only on my passport I don’t use them when I sign something nor do people know me by my full name (unless they ask). And my parents didn’t even honor anybody, they just picked names they liked and wanted in my name. Nobody complained.
Does part of your family live in Germany? Because then I’d consider a name that works in both languages if not then that’s no problem.
Now you names:
[name_f]Adela[/name_f] - I like it, it can be used internationally and sound great with [name_m]Otto[/name_m]
[name_f]Adelyn[/name_f] - I don’t like the lyn ending. The y makes it too modern looking which doesn’t really go with vintage [name_m]Otto[/name_m].
[name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] - would go with [name_m]Otto[/name_m] but I don’t think it’s perfect.
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] - is cute but [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_m]Otto[/name_m], idk.
[name_f]Faith[/name_f] - if you have any non English family I wouldn’t use that. It will get butchered because the th sound is hard for non English speakers.
[name_f]Hazel[/name_f] - I don’t like it but it works.
[name_f]Rose[/name_f], etc. - if you decide to honor both mothers I really like the sound of [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] works internationally and to me doesn’t scream [name_m]French[/name_m]. With [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] you’ll get different pronunciations, because in many countries the e isn’t silent. But if all your family is English that’s not a concern.

With [name_m]Otto[/name_m] I like [name_f]Adela[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] best. Vintage, unpopular but cute
Good luck

[name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] can be shortened to [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], and I quite like [name_f]Rosie[/name_f] and [name_m]Otto[/name_m].
That being said, I don’t think it’s up to you to name your child after her.

I feel your [name_f]MIL[/name_f] shares her surname with your kids so you shouldn’t feel pressured to use [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f].
If you wanted to though [name_f]Mary[/name_f]-[name_u]Jean[/name_u] as a middle would nod to both [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f].
Another vote for [name_f]Adela[/name_f] or [name_f]Adelia[/name_f] with [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. It’s a perfect match for me.

I would feel that if my son was named after my father and FIL and my daughter had my mother’s middle that I needed to include my [name_f]MIL[/name_f] somehow in the girl’s name. That’s the trouble I’ve found with using honor names. It highlights whose name wasn’t passed on. [name_f]One[/name_f] other way to honor your [name_f]MIL[/name_f] would be to use your [name_f]MIL[/name_f]'s maiden name or her mother’s name.

You aren’t obligating to name your daughter after your [name_f]MIL[/name_f]. If you don’t love any of the honor options, there are certainly other ways to honor your [name_f]MIL[/name_f] without naming a child after her. That said, since your son will be named after both grandfathers and your daughter will have [name_f]Marie[/name_f] after your mom, it is maybe a little too obvious that your [name_f]MIL[/name_f] was left out. Honestly, if I was your [name_f]MIL[/name_f], I might feel a little hurt that I was the only grandparent who didn’t get honored.

Is her maiden name usable? Perhaps you could use it as a middle name. I love the idea of [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] or [name_f]Adele[/name_f] - not [name_f]Adela[/name_f] - with [name_m]Otto[/name_m]. What about [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Rosemarie[/name_f]? [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]? You could always tweak the names a little bit. [name_f]Adelaide[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f]? [name_f]Adele[/name_f]/[name_f]Adela[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f]?

I love [name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]. Stellar options, and I love the spunky and classic use of [name_f]Rose[/name_f] in the first-name spot. Good luck!

[name_m]How[/name_m] about using [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] in the middle to combine [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]? Otto and:
Adele Marianne
Alice Marianne
Emma Marianne
Matilda Marianne
Louisa Marianne
Ada Marianne
Willa Marianne

I like [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] best. [name_f]Hazel[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] would be really cute. It would be hard to honor 3 of the grandparents in a set of twins, and leave 1 out. I would feel so bad. :frowning:

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]-[name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] [name_f]Jeanne[/name_f]-[name_f]Marie[/name_f]

[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] & [name_m]Otto[/name_m] sound lovely

COngratulations btw!
