Firstly thank you to everyone that helped me with the picking of middle names for [name]Lily[/name], I appreciate it so much but I can no longer use that name! I wasn’t telling people the name we had picked out until she was here and my cousin just had a baby girl … and named her [name]Lily[/name]! (My fault for not telling people I guess) while we aren’t close close to her, we are close enough to see the family on special occasions eg, christmas/easter. Sigh.
So can I get help please with more first names please ?! Along the lines of [name]Lily[/name] … I love the names [name]Mila[/name] and [name]Lila[/name] but unfortunately can’t use them either … I feel like I am back in square one. Other names I like are [name]Ariella[/name], [name]Milena[/name], [name]Brie[/name]/Briarne … [name]Just[/name] examples that I can think of at the moment … No ‘B’ names as our last name is [name]Bailey[/name].
What a huge bummer I think these all have the feel of [name]Lily[/name] and [name]Lila[/name]
[name]Elena[/name]
[name]Ella[/name]
[name]Leila[/name]
[name]Isla[/name]
I know I was devestated… I was so set on [name]Lily[/name] … Thank you for your suggestions! [name]Isla[/name] I like but DH said no when we were first looking for names! It took us so long to get to [name]Lily[/name] I feel like I have a massive task ahead of me!
I have a friend that was going to use [name]Lily[/name] and switched to [name]Iris[/name].
Other suggestions:
I like [name]Milena[/name] nn [name]Mila[/name]
[name]Mira[/name]
[name]Aubrey[/name]
[name]Acacia[/name]
[name]Acadia[/name]
[name]Lillian[/name]
I think [name]Emily[/name] and [name]Lucy[/name] have a similar feel to [name]Lily[/name]. What about a [name]Lily[/name] variation such as [name]Lillian[/name]? She could be called [name]Lily[/name]. I don’t know the MN you had chosen but could you switch them around and use [name]Lily[/name] in the middle?
If it is only a cousin you see on special occasions I would probably still use it - would she mind? Cousins sharing names is pretty common.
If you love it that much, I would use [name]Lily[/name] as a middle name! However, alternatives to [name]Lily[/name] I like are [name]Violet[/name] and [name]Sage[/name]. [name]Briana[/name] is pretty and similar to one of your names, and I also thought of [name]Blanca[/name], but they’re both B names. Hmm, I’ll have to come back with some good suggestions later! So sorry you don’t get to use your name.
(Also, was your cousin’s baby born today 2/29? If so, how cool!)
Oh, that is really difficult! [name]Lily[/name] is a great name, but I hope this can be a new journey for you to find a name that is even more special… Fingers crossed!
[name]How[/name] about…
[name]Rosa[/name]

[name]Flora[/name]
[name]Susannah[/name]
[name]Evie[/name]
[name]Lola[/name]
[name]Poppy[/name] (I know a little [name]Poppy[/name], and she’s gorgeous)
[name]Arden[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Ada[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name]
[name]Cecily[/name]
[name]Tessa[/name]
[name]Mirabel[/name]
[name]Paige[/name]
[name]Violetta[/name]
[name]Juliet[/name]
[name]Lucia[/name]
[name]Leta[/name]
I love the suggestions of [name]Ivy[/name], [name]Lucy[/name], and [name]Violet[/name]. [name]How[/name] about [name]Adele[/name], [name]Alina[/name], or [name]Natalie[/name]?
[name]How[/name] would everyone pn [name]Mila[/name] … ? I love the name but have a relative with a little girl name [name]Miller[/name] (who lives in a different part of the country (australia)) also how usable is [name]Aria[/name] in australia considering we have the [name]ARIA[/name] music awards? She was born on 30/03 (as we live in australia )
We probably violated every rule of naming etiquette, but when we had this happen to us with our daughter [name]Maizie[/name], we went ahead and used it anyway. We’d been planning on using that name for months and months (it was an adoption from [name]China[/name], so longer than a pregnancy) and I wasn’t going to let my cousin’s use of the name keep us from the name we fell in love with. It was a little confusing for my grandma, I’m sure, but practically speaking, the only time it is even an issue is at family reunions. I wasn’t going to let one or two days out of 365 to shoot the name down for us. It’s been a non-issue in the long run. [name]Just[/name] another take on the situation…
I think after all the effort you put in try and work out a way to keep with [name]Lily[/name]. It is beautiful choice.
[name]How[/name] about choose a great short mn and when you get together with the wider family/ speak to common relatives call her by fn and mn? [name]Day[/name] to day, just [name]Lily[/name] of course.
eg [name]Lily[/name] [name]Rose[/name], [name]Lily[/name] [name]Grace[/name], [name]Lily[/name] [name]Belle[/name], [name]Lily[/name] [name]Eve[/name], [name]Lily[/name] [name]Jane[/name], [name]Lily[/name] [name]Joy[/name] or [name]Lily[/name] [name]Ann[/name]
New suggestion for a different name:
[name]Eleni[/name] - nn [name]Ellie[/name] or [name]Leni[/name]
My sister in law wanted to call her little girl [name]Lily[/name], but my brother in law didnt like it. They named their little girl ‘[name]Courtney[/name] [name]Olivia[/name]’
Hello, oh, no, I really feel for you. I loved the name [name]Lily[/name] as well but we decided on calling our little girl, due in [name]May[/name], [name]Amelie[/name] [name]Mirabelle[/name]. We could shorten her first name to [name]Mimi[/name], [name]Le[/name] [name]Le[/name] or [name]Ame[/name] -hope it helps! Good luck x
You have a few eastern european names on your list, so throwing out a few more:
Ilona (I think this is so pretty and not used enough!)
Mina
Natalia
Denitsa
Nina
Nevena
Lily-like options:
Lena
Millie (could be short for Milena…)
Laurel
Lia
Layla
Luna
I wouldn’t change the name especially since its a distant cousin that you hardly see. I think its a total non-issue. My guess is that your not even on your cousins radar and she probably wouldn’t give it another thought.
I agree that you should use [name]Lily[/name] anyway. If you really feel the need to change it, I would just change it a little - like [name]Lillian[/name]. [name]Just[/name] think, you could hunt around for a new name and finally decide on [name]Ruby[/name] only to have a co-worker choose [name]Ruby[/name] two months later. It happens. Use the name you love!
