Help:
My husband and I love the name [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] for our boy due sept. The only name we agree on.
We don’t really care that [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] stefani used it.
We don’t care that it’s also an aussie biscuit.
And we don’t care that it’s a location.
We are Thinking [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] (middle name [name_m]Ian[/name_m] after my late father).
BUT everyone who has heard the name - not knowing we plan to use it- has very strong negative opinions.
Wondering if anyone likes it? Others thoughts?
I love it! [name_u]Unique[/name_u], but not too unique. Also it is an awesome name to evolve throughout life – an adorable baby [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] is just as suitable as a strong businessman (or whatever he wants to be!) [name_m]Kingston[/name_m].
Plus, if people end up calling him [name_m]King[/name_m]? That seems like a pretty nifty name if you ask me!
Thanks afsakio -
I actually love [name_m]Kingston[/name_m], and I wouldn’t ever worry about the aussie biscuit connotation. (They’re pretty darn delicious).
The reality is it’s your child, not theirs. [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] all the way !
Thanks [name_f]Lara[/name_f]
I really like [name_m]Kingston[/name_m]! If its what you like then use it! I know other people’s opinions are important to you when naming a baby but don’t let them steer you away from something you and your partner really love, especially if you’ve had a hard time agreeing on something!
Personally I didn’t know [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] [name_f]Stefani[/name_f] had named her baby [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] and I dont know anything about Aussie biscuits
Go for it, the people around you will get used to it being his name and I’m sure they’ll come to love it after meeting him!
Thanks carysmarie- nice to have had a few positive replies!
Another vote yes for [name_m]Kingston[/name_m]. Only, I don’t care for [name_m]King[/name_m] as a nickname. Sounds too much like a title when used with the last name.
Thanks rainydaygarden:)
I think it is just lovely. A very strong masculine name. People always have opinions, we had the same thing when our daughter was born. Go with your gut, but I Personally think it is great, sightly different without being too unusual
Thanks [name_m]Rocco[/name_m]
I love [name_m]Kingston[/name_m]! I would consider using it if 2 friends of mine didn’t already use it. If you and your husband love it, go with it!!
[name_m]Kingston[/name_m] [name_m]Ian[/name_m] is a great combo too! ”
[name_f]Do[/name_f] it. It’s a really fantastic biscuit. There’s nothing not to love
I love [name_m]Kingston[/name_m]! Pretty well ditto remarks to @afsakio365. It’s strong, masculine, and would be very wearable throughout childhood years to a man in a any profession, or otherwise. I like that it’s unique but very wearable. Maybe consider not discussing your choice with family and friends until baby is born because getting negative comments because it isn’t their favourite name makes it tough to choose a name YOU love
I love [name_m]Kingston[/name_m], however, not a fan of the nn [name_m]King[/name_m]… I’ve met twin boys named [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] & [name_u]Kai[/name_u], so it definitely feels usable to me!
Exactly! Your child, your choice. It’s a cute name. My advice would be just not to tell anyone what you’ve chosen until there’s an actual live baby in your arms; it’s amazing how much more polite people become then!
As someone who’s in love with a name most people think is “bizarre” or “too hard to pronounce,” I sympathize. Go with your heart, though. Unless you’re planning to name him [name_m]Adolph[/name_m] or Osama, their opinions really, truly shouldn’t matter enough to talk you out of the name.
Thanks all- it’s a relief that there are some people who like it! Hahah
I really appreciate your taking the time to reply.
I wouldn’t use it, but have no negative feelings towards it. No reason not to use it if you love it!
Loooove [name_m]Kingston[/name_m]. Go for it.
If you both love it then you should forsure use it! Im sure we’ve all had friends/family name their children something that we would personally never use but once you see that baby, whether you like the name or not doesn’t really matter anymore.
Go for it! its hard enough to find a name that you love without worrying what others think!
ps. I love [name_m]Kingston[/name_m]!
