Help:) I'm trying to honor grandmas, Eva & Angela!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m], everyone! I’m [name_u]Bryn[/name_u], I’ll be 24 weeks tomorrow and I have so many things on my mind. It would be nice to stop stressing over the baby’s name. I’ve visited a few other name sites but my nephew’s teacher recently told me about NameBerry so I’m hoping you all can help me.

My husband and I have decided to name our baby (If the baby is a boy) after him, painless. But if we have a girl (*fingers crossed) things can get a little tricky. I’ve never come across a name (I like) to honor my mom, [name_f]Angela[/name_f] so I gave up on the idea until my husband told me he wants to honor his mom, [name_f]Eva[/name_f] (pronounced Ay-Va)… There’s no way I can honor his mom and not my own with out her having it out for me lol! So here we go:

We’re almost certain we will choose [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] for the first name. I’m open to two middles but I’m not good with combinations. (*Please share if you have any)

I’ve really been considering [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. I see both grandmas names and I love the look but I’m not completely sold on the sound. What do you all think? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have anything better? And how do you pronounce [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] (Leen, [name_f]Line[/name_f], [name_u]Lynn[/name_u])?

I think it’s a great way to honour both sides and it’s really a lovely name, I pronounce it with a leen sound at the end
Good luck, you’ve made a great choice!

I thought of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] right away. I say it “[name_f]Line[/name_f],” but that’s because I know someone who named their daughter with the “[name_f]Line[/name_f]” prn. I would prefer “LEEN” honestly.

Instead of [name_f]Angela[/name_f], what about an “angel meaning” name like [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f], Raphaella, [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f], [name_f]Gabriella[/name_f], [name_f]Arella[/name_f], Moraika, Tenshi, Tevy, Tuyen, or even Vangelis? You could also consider Evangelos, which is technically a boy name but could go either way, if you want to avoid the “line” question.

If you like one of the “angel meaning” names, you could use a combo like [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] [name_f]Eva[/name_f], it just depends on what you like.

Thank you gr19 & saracita00!

I love the idea of using the “angel meaning” and I suppose I can also use [name_f]Eva[/name_f]'s “life meaning” too? That opens up so many possibilities, I never thought of that lol I really like [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f].

I think [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] makes a lovely classic middle, flows beautifully with [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] and I can hear both those grandparents names in it: Tick, tick, tick

I would pronounce it with the ‘leen’ sound as well.

I also initially thought of [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], but I dislike the harshness of the last syllable. It does work perfectly for honoring [name_f]Eva[/name_f] and [name_f]Angela[/name_f] in one name though.

I like [name_f]Evangelique[/name_f] better.

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] & [name_f]Angela[/name_f] = Evangela (smooshy but could work if you like the sound)

[name_f]Eva[/name_f] + [name_f]Angela[/name_f] = Avenlea instead of Avonlea, but you probably don’t want to stray from their given names that much

Evanea , (ehv-VAWN-knee-ya)

Thank you:) I never imagined using a name like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f], I’ve always liked more “current/trendy” names but as soon as I found out I was pregnant that kind of changed. Weird, right? lol I’m still a little unsure because it’s so different than what I thought I would go for but I do think honoring our mom’s is beautiful.

Sure, if you’re interested in using the “meanings” approach, you can definitely look into the “life” meaning names. [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] comes to mind for that one, but there are MANY beautiful options.

A little out of the box, what about [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_u]Evan[/name_u]? or [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] Evana?

Perhaps simply replace [name_f]Eva[/name_f]'s E with [name_f]Angela[/name_f]'s A and have [name_f]Ava[/name_f]?

What about [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] Avella?

Thanks so much. [name_f]Evangelique[/name_f] and Evangela are such easy transitions/variations but I would have never thought of doing something like that:) I’ll share those with my husband. He does not like the “Leen” sound, he thinks it’s too old so he may be open to your suggestions.

That one is beautiful, thank you so much:)
I was stressed about the name before but it’s become so much fun now, I’m going to look more into the meanings but [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_u]Vivian[/name_u] [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f] is so pretty and has a “royal” feel to me, I love it!

I think [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is beautiful and meaningful. I prefer the een ending, but I knew a girl with the e van ja lyn prn.

***Extra:

My husband doesn’t quite like the “Leen” sound. He prefers Evange-[name_u]Lynn[/name_u] (I like it too but not more or less), to get that sound should we spell it phonetically or keep the original and just pronounce it with [name_u]Lyn[/name_u] sound?

Thank you  I just posted about the pronunciation. I like Leen & [name_u]Lyn[/name_u] pronunciations the same but my husband prefers [name_u]Lyn[/name_u].

[name_u]Evan[/name_u] was the first name I came up with. I love the idea of [name_u]Evan[/name_u] for a girl but my mom doesn’t feel represented in that one lol!

I like it spelled [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] and pronounced with -leen. I have it on my own short list soooo I’m totally biased. personally I won’t be too worried about a slightly different pronunciation, especially since this will be her middle name.

I once know a girl whose middle name is [name_f]Evangelista[/name_f], I think it can be a nice alternative as well. Or maybe [name_f]Evangelina[/name_f].

I would pronounce it -leen, but if you want the -lyn ending i would definitely spell it phonetically (unless you don’t mind correcting most people). So, Evangelin, Evangelinn, [name_f]Evangelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Evangelynn[/name_f], etc. I personally prefer the original pronunciation/spelling. Have you considered [name_f]Evangelica[/name_f] (E-van-gel-i-ca), Avangelica or Avan (Aevan, Aven)? I have to agree with all the pp that [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] is pretty perfect though. If you aren’t finding anything eye-catching with an angel meaning, you could expand the angel theme to include anything celestial/heavenly. Good luck! (but it already sounds like you have a winner!!)

[name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f]. I like it.

You could have [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] [name_u]Evan[/name_u] [name_f]Ella[/name_f] or [name_f]Nadia[/name_f] Evanela.
