For weeks i’ve been posting different threads about my baby girl [name]Gigi[/name] - she is due in [name]April[/name]. [name]Gigi[/name] is what we want to call her but not her complete name.
After weeks of deliberation, the full name we decided on is [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Grace[/name] Mxxxxx (our LN)
Last night I googled “[name]Gemma[/name] Mxxxxx” and it is the same as a famous adult film star in the UK.
What now? [name]Do[/name] I pretend I don’t know about the other GM? My husband said, “Well, at least she’s hot!”. I can’t name our daughter that now. Can I? Would you?
If any of you have seen my posts I have been really troubled with the connotations of the names and thought that [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Grace[/name] would be a really safe choice. The only drawback was that it was popular in the UK years ago…so what. Now I’m freaked out!
If you think I should change then please give a suggestion. We are set on a double-G name. [name]Grace[/name] is my mother’s name so that stays. These were my top 3:
[name]Hi[/name], I like all your choices:-) I would be the same way- although it you [name]LOVE[/name] it I say still use it, as no one will know that and truthfully that porn star will fade soon enough! On the other hand if you are thinking about changing it I love the last choice, but prefer it flipped to [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. That way as a grown woman she can use [name]Genevieve[/name] if she wants to and it sounds like a beautiful intelligent woman. I would not use [name]Grace[/name] as a first name, only because it SO super popular. [name]Gigi[/name] is adorable and I think it’s nice to have that nickname but also have a really sophisticated full name for later in life. Anyway good luck, they are all adorable and don’t let some ruin the name you love!
I wouldn’t worry about it. Especially since it’s UK. If you were to search common names like [name]Jenna[/name], [name]Alexis[/name], [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Samantha[/name] you find a pornstar with that name. The general public doesn’t know the names of pornstars. Stick with your name if you both like it. [name]Trust[/name] me no one will think that. If you havea facebook post a question of what people think when they here the name gigi. [name]Bet[/name] you non of them will say a pornstar. Good luck!
My first and last name bring up a porn star when I google it. That is what happens when you have a fairly common first name paired with a fairly common last name.
Not a soul has ever mentioned it to me, and I’d say 99.999% of people have no idea. It’s not a biggie.
I wouldn’t use it. If I don’t know someone, I might google them, so I imagine other people do it too. Chances are pretty good none of her peers or even teachers will remember the porn [name]Gemma[/name] M., but you never know who knows what - a lot of men who know their porn will associate the name with the porn star. This is why you are here. I feel awful that you found the name and love it, but good that you found out in time. I could not be reassured by a thousand people that this was no big deal.
I wouldn’t use it, which is unfortunate because [name]Gemma[/name] is a cute name.
However, I think this is also a hidden positive - call her [name]Ginger[/name] [name]Grace[/name]! All your posts and threads on here have been about this name, and how much you love it, so go ahead and use it!
Unless it is going to bother you personally, I wouldn’t worry about it. I doubt many people will have heard of her, and even if they have, they would have to be very bold to mention it. That said, I hope you go with [name]Ginger[/name] [name]Grace[/name], which I really, really love!
I have to say that although it would bother me (at first) that [name]Gemma[/name] [name]Grace[/name] is the name of an adult film star, it is a very pretty name, and I would go with it! Especially since you’ve had your heart set on it so long. But if you can’t quite come to terms with it, I like [name]Grace[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name].
I can deffinatly see where that would be bothersome. But i have a few points of veiw on this. I can understand where it would drive me craxy if i KNEW that a name i had picked for my child was the name of an adult filmstar. However most of those women/men dont go by their real names and like another poster put it, almost everyones name has probably had SOME sort of adult film star connection simply because they pick typicall common names (Im thinking [name]Jenna[/name] Jamenson (sp) and [name]Mary[/name] [name]Cary[/name]) and i do think it’s highly unlikely someone will say “Oh like the por star?” and if they do, sorry to say they need help and probably dont eed to be aorund you child. lol. But anywho thats more of an outsiders point of view in its not a REALLY big deal. However i do see that since you KNOW now what it means and the connection you know how with the name how the name would be tainted. I know it would bother me even if nobody ever said anything about it (even though that would make me feel better but just knowing would probably drive me up the wall). I think either way it would be OK, but if you do decide to change it i vote [name]Grace[/name] [name]Genevieve[/name] or [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Grace[/name], even though i still quite like [name]Ginger[/name] [name]Grace[/name], and the topic we had a while back about it didnt mean that she would be teased for the name [name]Ginger[/name], it more so became a post about teasing of children called ginger, but anywho! So bascally if knowing will drive you crazy (like it would most people i think) then change it and DONT google the name haha that way all you have are nice images in your head:)
I wouldnt worry about the adult film star…I have the same name as a famous adult film star in the US…I hardly ever even think about it…until your posting came up…

My first and maiden names bring up an adult film “actress” when googled too. Unfortunately, there are a lot of them, but I personally wouldn’t let it influence my naming decision. But that’s me. For what it’s worth I think all three of your choices are very pretty and I do like [name]Genevieve[/name] [name]Grace[/name] switched like this. Good luck!
I would change it to [name]Geneva[/name] or [name]Genevieve[/name] I would hate to have that hanging over me and when the child grows up how would you react if she said “You knew it was a porn star’s name and YET you still named me that!”
