Good morning, y’all! I have posted on here before, a couple times. We are expecting our 4th child, a baby boy, in just under 4 weeks. I don’t feel prepared at all bc we can’t find a name for him. We are from [name_u]Texas[/name_u] and I want to monogram his things (it’s a southern thing!!) I have spent hours searching and nothing seems right. The first 7 months of the pregnancy I tried to make an “E” name work. I’ve read everything from surnames, to names spelled with E that don’t sound like an E, to street names in Europe…I cannot find one I love. If we name him an E name it would be just for the sake of naming him an “E name” and that seems pretty silly. After all, while it’s cute when they are little, it won’t matter as adults.
Our other children are [name_u]Easton Travis[/name_u] (boy, 7), [name_m]Everley Elizabeth[/name_m] (girl, 6), and Ensley Elaine(girl, 3).
This is going to be very unexpected to everyone as we have always called them the “e trio” and #threee etc.
What will sound good and make sense? I’ve been searching non “e names” for the last month and can’t find anything I love either. I’m so over it.
Things to consider:
Our last name is one syllable so a two syllable name works best.
We want something unique but not too out there.
Needs to be masculine
Can’t use [name_m]Lawson[/name_m], [name_m]Graham[/name_m], [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], or [name_m]Lincoln[/name_m] bc of cousins names.
If it lends to a nickname, needs to be a good nickname.
We like southern names/surname for first is popular and well received here in [name_u]Texas[/name_u]
First/middle name
Combo is appreciated.
Let’s see what y’all come up with! This baby needs a name ASAP!
My top 2 syllable boys E names:
[name_m]Eli[/name_m] (feels cowboy to me)
[name_m]Elwyn[/name_m] (I think goes so well with [name_u]Easton[/name_u] & it’s possible you didn’t see it yet? Though I think I commented on one of your recent posts…)
[name_m]Enoch[/name_m] (Very Biblical, very under used, nice modern sound, I don’t know if you want another En name)
[name_m]Eoghan[/name_m] ( the is [name_u]Owen[/name_u]- I prefer it spelled with an e, very classic)
[name_m]Ephram[/name_m] ( too close to [name_m]Graham[/name_m]?)
[name_f]Non[/name_f] E names…
[name_m]Shepherd[/name_m]
Colson
[name_m]Levi[/name_m]
[name_m]Colton[/name_m]
If you don’t use an E name consider a t middle like your other son, that way all you’ve done is change the pattern, girls have all e names like big brother, boys have t middles like big brother or even ALL t names like big brothers middle… Or t first and E middle…
T name suggestions:
[name_m]Tavish[/name_m]
[name_m]Terran[/name_m]
[name_m]Thayer[/name_m]
[name_m]Thorin[/name_m]
[name_m]Topher[/name_m]
Tracker
[name_m]Trevor[/name_m]
[name_u]Tristan[/name_u]
Thanks for your responses! So, hypothetically these are your kids names and you are about to have your last one…a baby boy. Which name would you choose?
From those i listed, I’d probably narrow it down to:
[name_m]Edison[/name_m] - surnamey, ends in n like [name_u]Easton[/name_u] and feels masculine to me. I’d pair it with [name_m]Edison[/name_m] [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], [name_m]Edison[/name_m] [name_m]Asher[/name_m] or [name_m]Edison[/name_m] [name_u]Tyler[/name_u]
[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] - modern and fresh, has a long ee sound and I just feel it fits. I’d probably go with a more classic or masculine soubsing middle like [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m], [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Calvin[/name_m] or [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Gavin[/name_m]
[name_u]Paxton[/name_u] - ends in ton like [name_u]Easton[/name_u], easy to say, love the meaning. [name_u]Paxton[/name_u] [name_m]Ezra[/name_m], [name_u]Paxton[/name_u] [name_m]Silas[/name_m] or [name_u]Paxton[/name_u] [name_u]Seth[/name_u] would be my middle choices
Ultimately, I think I’d go for [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]
My first thought was [name_u]Emmett[/name_u], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] or [name_m]Elijah[/name_m]. [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_u]Evan[/name_u] or [name_u]Embry[/name_u]?
I’m going to say throw out the E theme completely. You can’t find an E name you love, full stop. Your son will not have PTSD because his initials don’t match his siblings’. A brother for [name_u]Easton[/name_u], [name_m]Everley[/name_m], and Ensley:
I’d say to let go of the ‘E’ name because I always think I’d personally prefer having a name my parents picked because they liked it vs. because it fits a theme. If he ever asks why he doesn’t have an E name, you get to tell him all about how much you loved his name enough to break the theme!
I would go with
[name_m]Eoghan[/name_m] [name_m]Thayer[/name_m]
I think
It’s got the right amount of difference & similarity AND I really like it and the way it flows!
If you really can’t find an E name you love I wouldn’t worry about it too much. I think it is way more important that this name fits style wise with his siblings rather than shares an initial. (It night be kind of cute to give him an F name if you already call the first three the E 3, cause F comes next in the alphabet)
[name_u]Easton[/name_u], [name_m]Everley[/name_m], Ensley and
Lol! No ptsd for baby #4!! Thank you! I wish we would have never done a theme. We didn’t even mean to with the first two but then we did Ensley on purpose bc of the first two. It’s really not a good idea. It makes naming difficult if you end up with more than 2 kids!
Has anyone heard the name [name_m]Calloway[/name_m] used? I really like it. It’s unique and sounds classy to me but not too out there. I’m not sure bc of the golf brand (callaway) if it would be a mistake or if it’s too surnamey. Would it even go with our kids names? It’s also hard to find a middle name that sounds good with it.
As much as I don’t think you need to stick with the E theme I feel like part of me wants you to! Lol
What if you took a different approach and found a nickname name that you really like and try to find a formal E name to go with it? For example if you liked [name_m]Zeke[/name_m] call him formally [name_m]Ezekiel[/name_m] ! So you could daily call him a name you really like but on paper he is also an E? [name_m]Just[/name_m] an idea!
I also would like to suggestion (sorry if they are repeats):
[name_m]Ewan[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellington[/name_u]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] “[name_u]Van[/name_u]”
Ender
Haha! I know, I really wanted to do an “e” too, but I just can’t find “the one”. Out of your list, I liked [name_u]Ellington[/name_u] the first few months and then after talking to people I saw that its used primarily as a girl name now with the nn “ellie”. If you look on Instagram and Pinterest it’s definitely being used primarily as a girl name. That bugs me…”
[name_m]Calloway[/name_m] is really a nice name and it goes well with the sibset. I’m also in the “[name_m]Don[/name_m]’t choose an E name unless it is the name you love the most.” and you may have exhausted that route. I also like the suggestion of a T name to go with [name_u]Easton[/name_u]’s middle. Maybe…
[name_m]Turner[/name_m]
[name_m]Tage[/name_m]
[name_m]Tadhg[/name_m]
[name_m]Tulley[/name_m]
[name_u]Tate[/name_u]
[name_m]Quade[/name_m] (fits well with sibset and means fourth born)
I think [name_m]Calloway[/name_m] is a bit of a mouthful
You’ve probably seen every E name under the sun, but just in case:
[name_m]Evander[/name_m]? One of my favorites
Enno, [name_m]Eamon[/name_m] maybe even Ender?
A friend of mine has a son named Ealain (pronounced [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-leen), which isn’t even a name but the Irish word for art, I think it’s beautiful but maybe not your style
I love Enoch for you, which someone suggested, if you want to keep the theme.
Some more e names I can think of that I don’t think people have suggested:
Earl
Everett
Everest
Elk
Eden
Elliot/Elliott
Ellis
Elio
Evan
Elijah
Eagle
Emery/Emory
Edison
Btw, I think Ellington is perfectly usable for a boy.
