Hot Takes? 🤭

It’s funny because I’ve never met a [name_f]Freya[/name_f] but I’ve met a [name_f]Freyja[/name_f]

YES. all the kids circulating that meme right now thinking they’re the most PC people on the planet are doing more harm than good. It’s a mess.

I would write a reply but I think [name_f]Khadija[/name_f] Mbowe is more eloquent and has actually done the research on the history of the [name_f]Karen[/name_f]/Becky/Miss [name_f]Ann[/name_f] phenomenon and puts it in to historical perspective really well.

i’ve actually met a freya & a freyja!

We need cooler nature names. Most of them are rather passive. Like [name_u]Wren[/name_u] is a small, harmless bird. [name_u]Dove[/name_u] is a bird associated with peace. [name_u]Brooks[/name_u], from where we get [name_u]Brooke[/name_u], are usually slow-flowing and gentle. The [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is associated with romance, etc.

Why not Serpent (bonus: nn [name_u]Penny[/name_u]), [name_m]Tiger[/name_m], [name_u]Eagle[/name_u], etc?

Wolf, [name_m]Bear[/name_m], [name_u]Fox[/name_u], [name_m]Hawk[/name_m], [name_u]Sol[/name_u], [name_u]Onyx[/name_u], [name_u]Ocean[/name_u], and any of the tree names are strong to me

It’s just like naming your daughter [name_u]Gal[/name_u].

(Which could be a nn for [name_f]Gabrielle[/name_f], I guess, but then there’d be someone out there who says, oh, that’s sexualizing girls, and blah blah blah, yet you name your son [name_m]Guy[/name_m], and that’s perfectly fine. Okay, then.)

It’s an alternate transliteration for a Hebrew name (גיא). I don’t know why someone who isn’t Israeli or Jewish would want to name their son that, but anyone is a stretch.

Same goes for [name_u]Gal[/name_u] too (גל), although afaik it’s the only transliteration.

I’ve always liked [name_u]Viper[/name_u]! It sounds similar to [name_u]Piper[/name_u] but with a much cooler vibe

I only know [name_m]Guy[/name_m] Smiley from [name_f]Sesame[/name_f] [name_f]Street[/name_f]. From the 90s, not sure if he’s still on lol. He was a muppet. I mean I would not personally use it but I do think it has been established as a name well enough that it isn’t just the word itself.
