How do you pronounce Lysander and where are you from?

I’ve always pronounced it Liss-ander, and I’m from florida USA. I saw on a YouTube video that they pronounced it “Luh-sander” which is pretty much how I’m pronouncing it, just a little bit more relaxed. (Like how [name_f]Emma[/name_f] is pronounced either Im-ma/ EHmma) in the US, but on “Dead poets society” everybody says “Lie-sander” like you lie down, or lie to someone. How do you pronounce it and where are you from? I really love this name, I just want to make sure I’m pronouncing it correctly! Thank you

I pronounced it lih-sander until someone on NB made a poll about this a few months ago & almost everyone voted for lye-sander lol. I’ve said it that way ever since. I’m in the US. I also like the name much more now since then!

LEE-san-der, Greece. Originally all Greek names with a ‘‘y’’ in them make an ee sound for the y, but that was changed in [name_f]English[/name_f] pronunciations.
