Hunter for a girl?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries!

What do you think of [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] on a girl?

I encountered a very adorable girl [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], and now I find it charming (you know how that happens!). It never occurred to me before as a girl option.

I’m especially interested in it as a middle name, to go with [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

Thanks!

If youre gonna use it, it should be a mn. [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] reminds me of an annoying, disrespectful teenage boy.

It would work as a MN [name_f]IMO[/name_f]. Not with [name_f]Margot[/name_f] though. They’re way too different.

I know iam on the minority here but actualy love [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] to a girl than to a boy.

[name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] is a cute name imo. It’s unexpected and pretty. I like it.

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] for either gender. It’s just too violent for my comfort level. I love [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

No please no. There is nothing girly about [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] at all. I would hate it if my name was [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]!

I find [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] cute for a girl and I think that it would be a nice match for [name_f]Margot[/name_f]! I actually think that [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] is a better girls name than a boys name anyway!

I don’t like [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] on a boy, much less a girl. It does feel very masculine.

Only if it’s a family surname, and only in the middle spot. It’s a bit violent and very masculine. Perhaps [name_f]Diana[/name_f]? ([name_f]Goddess[/name_f] of the hunt)

I find it too masculine for a girl. And stylistically, it’s far too different from the lovely [name_f]Margot[/name_f].

I find [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] for either gender quite repulsive if I’m honest - one of the few names that I truly dislike. It actually blows my mind that it’s a popular name in the US.

[name_u]Harper[/name_u] is nice enough for a girl (or boy), and wonderful in comparison.

Really dislike it on a girl. It’s okay on a boy. I know a lot of animal hunters, so it’s a bit violent for me.

I prefer [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] as a girls name, I’ve met both girls and boys named [name_u]Hunter[/name_u], and the girls definitely wore it well – the boys did as well, I personally just prefer it as a girls name. It’s on my long list for both genders.

Eh, I’d like it better for a middle name. I’m not that big a fan of [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] for either gender anymore. I like [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] better than [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] [name_f]Margot[/name_f]. [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] [name_f]Margot[/name_f] sounds really random. And [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] sounds more like someone’s first and last name.

I am not a fan of [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] on a boy to begin with (I agree with the earlier sentiments that its a little on the violent side), and I really, really do not care for it on a girl. However, [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is gorgeous.

[name_f]Eve[/name_f] though [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] was once my favourite name for a boy, I now don’t like it on either gender. However, I don’t mind it used in the middle.

I do know what you mean - if you encounter an adorable child with an unconventional name, or simply a name that would be one you would normally never consider, it makes you suddenly like it. I personally know someone who has a daughter named [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]. She is GORGEOUS. Like, could-be-a-kid-model-gorgeous. I still think [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] is an absolutely horrible name for anyone, especially a girl. I feel so bad for her that she’s going to have to grow up with such a name. To me, [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] is kind of like [name_f]Nevaeh[/name_f]. It screams tacky/trendy of a certain generation and even moreso when used on a girl. It’s an eye roll name… It makes me wonder if the parents even tried at all.

The fact that you love [name_f]Margot[/name_f], such a sophisticated and lovely name, makes me think you’re just acting on a whim because you met a cute little girl named [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]. I seriously think you would regret it if you named your child [name_f]Margot[/name_f] [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]. It sounds awful and makes [name_f]Margot[/name_f] sound clunky and unattractive (and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] is on my favorites list!).

I personally don’t like [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] too much on a girl as a first name, but as a middle name I think it could work well.

I’m just not really a fan of the name [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] on anybody, but I will say that sometimes I am pleasantly surprised when I meet a child with an unusual name that I don’t particularly like, but I somehow feel like they pull it off and it just suits them. For example, a few years ago I used to substitute for a teacher frequently who had a little girl named [name_u]Tatum[/name_u] in her kindergarten class. I still think that’s a totally weird name and I would never use it or suggest it to anyone else, it reminds me of potatoes, but she was a sweet child and I really can’t think of any other name for her but [name_u]Tatum[/name_u]. I guess sometimes having a good association with a name can make you like the name, and sometimes it just makes you go, “well, you’re the only good one, if anyone else had that name it would be awful!” LOL!

[name_f]My[/name_f] son is [name_u]Hunter[/name_u]. I like [name_u]Hunter[/name_u] for a girl as a middle name. There it almost works like a family name. By the way, my son is now in his 30s and loves his name. ([name_m]Just[/name_m] for the record - he is a vegetarian.)

I would balance a unisex name on a girl with a very feminine name. That way everyone knows clearly what sex the child is (teachers at school for example.)
