Please humour my name ramblings
So of course this is all speculative at the moment, as I am currently on month 6, TTC our greatly desired third
I still nevertheless like to ponder all my favourite name combos and still find myself day- dreaming of names.
One day
I can say with 99.9% certainty that if I had a third son, my partner and I would use the name [name_m]Finnian[/name_m], with the nickname [name_u]Finn[/name_u].
I have been thinking of middles and our shortlist with explanations are as follows.
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_u]Charles[/name_u]
[name_u]Charles[/name_u] would be after myself, as I am a [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I find [name_u]Charles[/name_u] really grounds the light hearted [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] but I wouldnât say I am blown away by the combo. It just seems to work and honour myself and not much else.
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
[name_m]Samuel[/name_m] would be an honour name, it is my brotherâs name. If it wasnât for my brother I would have never met my partner or had a family ( they went to school together and are best friends)
So really with the third being our last, things feel like theyâve come full circle. Is [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] a nice way to honour this familial closure?
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
I absolutely adore [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and I think it works wonderfully with [name_m]Finnian[/name_m], it also matches my other boys middles. [name_f]My[/name_f] reservations are, I feel it does the direct opposite to say what the middle name [name_u]Charles[/name_u] does? [name_u]Jude[/name_u] feels a bit light hearted and jovial when paired with [name_m]Finnian[/name_m], so is the combo too buoyant? I mean I actually imagine a leprechaun to be called this And I think of the lovely irish accentđ
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_u]Oliver[/name_u]
This is my partnerâs favourite combo, it was his suggestion. I would use this if it was name he really wanted, I am not against it but I have never really cared much for [name_u]Oliver[/name_u]. It is too popular and predictable.
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_m]Thomas[/name_m]
[name_m]Thomas[/name_m], much like [name_u]Charles[/name_u], it is a name which grounds [name_m]Finnian[/name_m] again. It is also a classic, which is a naming style I love. [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] is cohesive with my other boys names in terms of origin and style ( bonus)
Is [name_m]Thomas[/name_m] perhaps a bit predictable? Should I be more adventurous?
Lastly⌠[name_f]My[/name_f] wildcard love
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_m]Ivar[/name_m]
[name_f]My[/name_f] partner likes this combo the least because to him it conjours up Viking imagery. ( He has nothing against this or anything,he even has Scandinavian roots himself) but feels like the combo is silly sounding and trying too hard.
I also feel like my family would really dislike this combo.
I love [name_m]Ivar[/name_m] for the meaning, the fact that it is underused and it has a silent strength to it.
So in conclusion my favourites are
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_m]Ivar[/name_m]
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] Samuel/Thomas
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_f]My[/name_f] partner.
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_u]Oliver[/name_u]
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_m]Finnian[/name_m] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]
Any feedback, greatly appreciated. Thank you x
