I apologize if anyone loves these names or chose them for their children, but there are some names that I find absolutely hideous.
I really hate the name [name_m]Robert[/name_m]. ANY name ending in -bert is unpleasant to me but I’m singling out [name_m]Robert[/name_m] because it’s so common. I have a friend named [name_m]Robert[/name_m] and I flat out REFUSE to address him by his full name, so I call him [name_m]Rob[/name_m] instead.
[name_m]Brian[/name_m] is another name I find very ugly sounding. I’m not sure why.
[name_u]Logan[/name_u] is ugly on a boy, and downright horrendous on a girl.
[name_f]Brianna[/name_f] and [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]. I’m not a big fan of B names in general, but these two are especially bad.
I also dislike butchered spellings of traditional names (like Eighmy instead of [name_f]Amy[/name_f] or Mykal instead of [name_u]Michael[/name_u]), boy names on girls (I’m sorry but just because some female celebrity babies are named [name_u]James[/name_u] does NOT make it unisex) and names that sound like they were made up for someone’s fantasy novel.
I feel pretty neutral about a lot of highly popular names. There are names I wouldn’t ever choose myself, but I find fine on other people.
The only thing I feel physically ill over is creative spellings of popular and well-known names. Adding a random ‘y’ or ‘-zie’ or ‘-leigh’ or ‘h’ is downright maddening to me. I used to be guilty of it when I was super young - like 12 or 13 - but to see grown adults do it is mind-boggling.
Okay, I guess also ‘made-up’ names are horrendous, too. I’m warming to the idea that “all names were made up once” but seeing a kid named Brizliee or Kenzinee or something makes my skin crawl. There are made up names that I find classy and sweet, and (as evident by my signature) I love unusual names, but when the spelling is creative and the name is made-up…there are no words.
I hate [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]. I don’t even know why. It’s just so bland, yet so popular (which just makes it even more bland). I honestly don’t see any appeal with that name.
[name_m]Jaxson[/name_m] has to be my least favorite name ever. It makes no sense to me! I don’t want to offend anyone but come on, you don’t need the -son there when the x makes the cks sound already!
I also really don’t like
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m]
[name_m]George[/name_m]
[name_m]Austin[/name_m]
[name_m]Brian[/name_m]
[name_m]Zachary[/name_m]
Any biblical -iah names I hate for some reason
[name_m]Calvin[/name_m]
[name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_u]Madison[/name_u]
[name_f]Kaitlyn[/name_f]- just this spelling…
[name_f]Amy[/name_f]
[name_f]Georgia[/name_f]
[name_f]Nora[/name_f]
These are just random ones I thought of off the top of my head. A lot of these are fine names but I just can’t get behind them.
[name_f]Violet[/name_f] (I see violent and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] Beauregarde)
[name_f]Myrtle[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f] ([name_f]Delia[/name_f] is SO lovely… I just cannot picture baby [name_f]Cordelia[/name_f])
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] (fruits)
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]
