[name_f]Lily[/name_f] - [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is my favourite of the [name_f]Lily[/name_f] variants. [name_m]Just[/name_m] simply [name_f]Lily[/name_f]- no added fuss. I have a good association with this name (my little cousin) so I really enjoy seeing it on its own. The only downside to it nowadays is that it’s just SO popular, at least where I live. I feel like I’ve met ten Lilys in the past few years, and the name just doesn’t feel ‘special’ anymore, as opposed to some of the other flowery names. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like any of these as well? https://nameberry.com/list/57/If-You-Like-[name_f]Lily[/name_f]-You-Might-[name_u]Love[/name_u]?all=1 All in all, I’d rate [name_f]Lily[/name_f] 7/10
[name_f]Anna[/name_f] - I’m so glad there are some [name_f]Anna[/name_f] lovers here. [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is an absolute classic that still shines bright. Personally, I prefer the pronunciation [name_m]Ah[/name_m]-Nah over [name_u]Anne[/name_u]-ah and spelled [name_f]Ana[/name_f]. That would be a 9/10 name for me! In my life, I’ve only ever met one [name_f]Anna[/name_f], so even though it’s an older name, it feels a lot more refreshing than [name_f]Lily[/name_f]. It also looks very tidy- it’s a palindrome name, so it feels very balanced and elegant. Overall, I’d rate [name_f]Anna[/name_f] 8/10, although, on a good day, I’d rate it 9/10!
[name_f]Julia[/name_f] - I know you wanted brutal honesty, but I genuinely love your names. Similar to [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Julia[/name_f] is my favourite of the [name_u]Julie[/name_u] variants. It feels classic, but also a timeless and everlasting beauty that will never fade. However, I prefer both [name_f]Anna[/name_f] and [name_f]Lily[/name_f] over [name_f]Julia[/name_f], so I’d have to rate it 6.5/10 in fairness to the other two which I like better.
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - Like [name_f]Lily[/name_f], this name just feels SO popular now. Charlotte - Baby Name Meaning, Origin, and Popularity | Nameberry [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like any of these? [name_f]My[/name_f] other issue with this name is that I’m not too fond of the main nicknames for it- [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] and [name_f]Lottie[/name_f]. I like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] on a boy, but less-so on a girl. Of your girl names, it’s not my least favourite, but over time, the name has just been dulled down for me to the point where it doesn’t shine anymore. I’d rate it 5.5/10
[name_f]Laura[/name_f] - This is my least favourite of the girls’ names. To me, your other names are timeless beauties, even [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], which I’m not super fond of, is unarguably an everlasting classic. I don’t get that same impression from [name_f]Laura[/name_f]. It feels very 1980s to me as if the name came and then left as quickly as it arrived. There’s nothing inherently wrong with the name, it just doesn’t shine at all to me. I’d rate it 4.5/10
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m] - I feel similarly about [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] as I do to [name_f]Laura[/name_f], however, I slightly favor [name_m]Daniel[/name_m] (Maybe because it’s my uncle’s name!) The positive to this name for me is that I find the nickname ‘[name_u]Danny[/name_u]’ very adorable on a little boy. It also does feel a bit more timeless than [name_f]Laura[/name_f] does. 5.5/10
[name_m]Joseph[/name_m] - I LOVE [name_m]Joseph[/name_m]. I dislike the nickname [name_m]Joe[/name_m], though, so hopefully, it wouldn’t be shortened! I think [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is another everlasting, but understated name. I haven’t met many Josephs! I think there was one in my grade at high school. I really like the softness and timelessness of it. 8/10
[name_u]James[/name_u] - Sadly, it’s hard for me to comment on [name_u]James[/name_u]. I don’t know if you read my post in the Lounge a while back. [name_u]James[/name_u] was my #1 boy’s name since a boy named [name_u]James[/name_u] saved my life a long time ago. However, the name has been permanently tainted for me due to recent events. If you’d asked a year ago, I’d have rated it 10/10, if that means anything to you.
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] - [name_m]Jack[/name_m] is probably my least favourite of your boys’ names. In my grade, there were 9 Jacks in a class of 60. They were EVERYWHERE. (That’s not even counting the 3 [name_u]Jackson[/name_u]/Jaxons!) It also feels quite harsh compared to your other names. However, there is nothing inherently wrong with it, so I’ll rate it averagely, at 5/10.
[name_m]Alexander[/name_m] - I really appreciate [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]! It’s my second favourite from your boys’ list. It is incredibly handsome and your son would be lucky to have this name. It’s a very historical name and it obviously has a few lovely nickname options that come naturally, but nicknames are also avoidable with this name if they’re not your thing. I’d rate it 8/10!
