Imagery: Snow, northern lights, rugged beauty; bright stars and frozen lakes

First off, I’m going to start by giving the credit of the prefectly beautiful imagery to nameberrys own @ashthedreamer and @roseofjune. Their words, describing my names.
Now, to get down to business. I’ve been a little unsatisfied with my girls names for a while. I have one combo I absolutely adore, it’s perfection for me. [name_f]Azura[/name_f] [name_f]Star[/name_f]. To me, it is the epitome of that imagery. I like my other names, I love them even. But they just don’t quite click like [name_f]Azura[/name_f] [name_f]Star[/name_f] does for me. Maybe I am just not quite getting the right combinations, but I thought I’d ask you berries for some inspiration! Tell me your ideas that fit the imagery, or names that have the same feel as [name_f]Azura[/name_f] [name_f]Star[/name_f]. It can be individual names or combos, I’d love inspiration for both.

I love this type of imagery too! The cold, snowy, wintery theme keeps cropping up in my combos. Some ideas are below - I will probably be back later with more ideas, but don’t have enough time right now for a longer post. [name_f]Hope[/name_f] you find these inspiring!

[name_f]Snow[/name_f] - adds a snowy feel to most combos
[name_f]Venetia[/name_f] - frozen canals in [name_f]Venice[/name_f]
[name_f]Swan[/name_f] - white feathers; with right combo could really work
[name_f]Astraea[/name_f] - ultimate starry name for me.
[name_f]Varvara[/name_f] - Russian frost.
[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] - for some reason this feels very Northern Lights to me!
[name_f]Leila[/name_f] - stars in a dark sky.
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] - Scandinavia in a name.
[name_f]Iseult[/name_f] / [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] - just feels ‘cold’ and sparkly to me.
Lucendrie - ditto.
[name_f]Sylvana[/name_f] - wintery woods.
[name_f]Liesl[/name_f] - just snowy.
[name_u]Avery[/name_u] / [name_u]Averil[/name_u]
[name_f]Eira[/name_f] - means “snow”.
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f] - that [name_m]Philip[/name_m] Pullman series I haven’t read and don’t intend to that makes it seem starry and ice land-ish.
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] - similar to [name_f]Venetia[/name_f].
[name_f]Novalie[/name_f]
[name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f]
Iveta
[name_f]Noor[/name_f] - very starry to me.

[name_f]Venetia[/name_f] [name_f]Swan[/name_f]
[name_f]Astraea[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f]
[name_f]Mariam[/name_f] [name_f]Elettra[/name_f] / [name_f]Mariam[/name_f] [name_f]Electra[/name_f]
[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] [name_f]Varvara[/name_f]
[name_u]Averil[/name_u] [name_f]Sylvana[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvana[/name_f] [name_f]Isolde[/name_f]
[name_f]Eira[/name_f] [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f]
[name_f]Phaedra[/name_f] [name_f]Liesl[/name_f]

That (wonderful) imagery makes me think:

I’m loving this imagery. ^^ also, it’s really pleasant to see [name_f]Azura[/name_f]. I’m tempted to add [name_f]Azure[/name_f] somewhere on my own list. It’s such an underused beauty.

Seconding [name_f]Varvara[/name_f], [name_f]Astrid[/name_f], [name_f]Eira[/name_f] and [name_f]Iseult[/name_f].

There’s been a lot of great suggestions so I can’t really come up with anything else off the top of my head but I think the combo [name_f]Lumi[/name_f] [name_u]Vesper[/name_u] would work well for this image.

And Istra!! I was trying to remember her earlier and couldn’t quite do it.

@morning_glory- Oh, [name_f]Astraea[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] is so beautiful! I don’t know why I haven’t paid [name_f]Astraea[/name_f] more attention before. It has the star meaning, which I love so much. I also admire the [name_u]Aspen[/name_u]/[name_f]Aster[/name_f]/[name_f]Astrid[/name_f] names fairly often, and this is a step better even! I do love [name_f]Snow[/name_f], [name_f]Swan[/name_f], [name_f]Phaedra[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Eira[/name_f], [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] and [name_f]Noor[/name_f] too. I actually have [name_f]Noor[/name_f] on my girls list, but I’ve just never found a place for her in a combo I guess.
I am very intrigued by Lucendrie. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any information on it? I am usually not a fan of [name_f]Lucy[/name_f] names, but the Drie ending is so lovely.
I also adore the sound and meaning of [name_f]Leila[/name_f], but one of my SO’s close friends has a daughter [name_f]Leila[/name_f], so that ones out for us!
I do find these inspiring, and I’d love if you’d share more if you have any more inspiration…

@myosotis- I do love Rowenna! Something about that [name_f]Enna[/name_f] ending, I just love the sound of. [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] and [name_f]Nimue[/name_f] are names I’ve loved for a long time, but somehow have never made it to my short list. The Morg- sound in [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] is maybe part of my problem. Maybe it would make a better middle name. [name_f]Nimue[/name_f] is just so adorable and quick and elfish. It just makes me smile to say this name! [name_f]Amadea[/name_f] is a recent love of mine, and it just grows on me more and more every time I hear. I think [name_f]Amadea[/name_f] must be one of the most beautiful sounding names ever!
Ashildr->Ashild- I was so intrigued by this name a few years ago, but I had completely forgotten about it! Something about it seems a touch mysterious and whispery. So beautiful.
I like the idea of [name_f]Accalia[/name_f], but I just hear [name_f]Callie[/name_f] when I say it, which is a name I really dislike! Cool meaning tho.
And [name_f]Luna[/name_f], love this name so much! Why isn’t it higher on my list? Maybe it’s the looney/lunatic sound? I love the meaning and the connection to the loon bird.

@medfordkung- [name_f]Zora[/name_f], [name_f]Mazarine[/name_f], [name_f]Anais[/name_f], [name_f]Ursa[/name_f] and [name_f]Enya[/name_f] are all so lovely! [name_f]Ursa[/name_f] makes me think of [name_f]Ursula[/name_f], which I adore. It would maybe make a good nickname for [name_f]Ursula[/name_f]! [name_f]Enya[/name_f] has that attractive En sound in it, I find myself loving names with that sound!
[name_f]Kiera[/name_f] makes me think of [name_f]Kira[/name_f]/[name_f]Kyra[/name_f], which is somewhat of a guilty pleasure of mine. I know many berries probably think it a trendy name, but I just searched [name_f]Kira[/name_f] on nameberry and found it’s a Russian variant of [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m], which means throne. I think that’s pretty cool!

Ok this is getting really long, I’ll come back and reply to the rest later! Thank you all so much :).

@luneth- Haha, I actually kinda like [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]. Mostly because of Frozen ;). I absolutely love Ostara! I’m not sure I’ve ever heard this name before, but it’s so beautiful and has the huge bonus of the word star in it! So cool, if I can’t persuade SO to use [name_f]Star[/name_f] in the middle, I will maybe have to try this name on him!
I really like [name_f]Morgana[/name_f]/[name_f]Morgane[/name_f], I wrote about [name_f]Morgana[/name_f] in my last post…
I love the name [name_u]Raven[/name_u], but I could never bring myself to use it as a first name, so [name_f]Ravenna[/name_f] is a lovely alternative! I have this one somewhere on my girls list, but for some reason I don’t think I’d ever considered the nickname [name_u]Raven[/name_u] for [name_f]Ravenna[/name_f]. I know, it’s so obvious it’s hard to believe I hadn’t considered that!

@elifsu- Ahh, you have listed so many names that I love! [name_f]Alaska[/name_f], [name_f]Altalune[/name_f], [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], [name_f]Aurora[/name_f], Alhena (I first heard this name from you, I absolutely love the sound and star association!), [name_f]Eira[/name_f], [name_u]Juniper[/name_u] (I don’t like the idea of it being shortened to [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Juni[/name_f] tho), [name_f]Lumi[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Pandora[/name_f], Polaris, [name_f]Snow[/name_f] and [name_f]Solstice[/name_f] are all incredible. Some of those I have of my list, or list of considerations ;).
Your Turkic names really intrigue me. I really like the sound of Erdenay, Altay and Talay. That -ay ending is so cool!
Elbis is lovely, it reminds me of [name_m]Albus[/name_m] which I really like for a for. Aslan is on my boys list too! I love the meaning and the sound… And I am very intrigued by Tanha! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you have any information on this name? The meaning, background, anything! It reminds me of my good friends name, would maybe make a lovely honour name! Thank you so much :).

@stellarevolution- I love [name_f]Lumi[/name_f] and I love [name_u]Vesper[/name_u]! Together they make a beautiful combo.

@morning_glory- I posted before I saw your last reply… [name_f]Eve[/name_f] has been on and off my list the last year or two. I love the simplicity and the sound, but sometimes I wonder if it’s a little dull or plain beside some of my other names. I had it paired with [name_f]Araluen[/name_f] ([name_f]Araluen[/name_f] [name_f]Eve[/name_f]) for the last little while!
[name_f]Nerissa[/name_f] intrigues me, as does [name_f]Kirsten[/name_f]/[name_f]Kiri[/name_f]. I like the sound alot. [name_f]Shoshanna[/name_f] sounds so lushy and rivery, I can feel this one growing on my already!
[name_f]Sabine[/name_f]/[name_f]Selene[/name_f]/[name_f]Solene[/name_f]/[name_f]Solenne[/name_f], I love all these names, but how to choose just one of them! These definitely have that dark night and brilliant stars feel to me!
I quite like Eilonwy, and Istra! Istra reminds me of [name_f]Astra[/name_f], but I almost like it better because it avoids that As- sound!
Lots of loveliness! Thank you so much.

[name_f]Eira[/name_f]! So beautiful and I get that imagery from it.

I’m more than happy to help with the imagery! I’m about halfway through reading this series of romantic suspense novels set in a touristy town in [name_f]Alaska[/name_f], and hope to one day write my own series of novels that is set there, half the time, and have become quite obsessed with her beauty. It’s such a lovely thing to have in a name!

[name_u]Winter[/name_u] [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]? I know [name_f]Aurora[/name_f]'s too popular as a FN for you, most likely, but would you consider it as a middle? I’m sort of in a hurry, so I’m sort of stuck besides that, but I know lots of people generally suggest [name_u]McKinley[/name_u] or [name_u]Denali[/name_u], but I hear those are rather popular up in [name_f]Alaska[/name_f]? I assume [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] is even more popular there than here. I think something like [name_u]Denali[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] or [name_u]McKinley[/name_u] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] also feels super like [name_f]Alaska[/name_f]! I particularly like the idea of something with [name_u]Denali[/name_u] in it. Or [name_u]Denali[/name_u] [name_m]Samuel[/name_m]? To get that [name_m]Samuel[/name_m] in there that I remember you saying you loved? or [name_u]McKinley[/name_u] [name_m]Levi[/name_m]! I like [name_u]McKinley[/name_u] for a boy much more than a girl.

You could always add my beloved Borealis, too!

If I can think of others, I may try to come back to this thread or message you. What a fun thing to brainstorm about!

Good luck!

ETA: [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] is rather obvious, and maybe not as cool if you live there, but I love [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] as a GP, and I know there’s a member on here with [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f] [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] [name_f]Sophie[/name_f] on her list. That was always so cool to me, so wintry and Alaskan! Maybe another star name, too, like [name_u]Orion[/name_u], [name_f]Cassiopeia[/name_f], or [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f]? I think there’s a star called [name_f]Bellatrix[/name_f], maybe even in [name_u]Orion[/name_u], but I can’t remember for sure. I also [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] Kuiper, as in the Kuiper Belt, but I’m not sure that feels too much like the Alaskan landscape…

@ashthedreamer I indirectly know a little girl born at the end of last year who is [name_f]Alaska[/name_f] [name_f]Lux[/name_f]! Quite a stunning combo! I think it suits this imagery, it makes me think of wintery Alaskan nights with the light of the stars/heavens above. Her mother calls her Sass for short!
