Is Ida that bad?

Is [name]Ida[/name] really that bad? I know its by no means popular and [name]Ada[/name] has the [name]Ada[/name] Lovelace association.Although [name]Ida[/name] has an association with [name]Tennyson[/name] which is pretty cool. I just don’t know why people find it a poor choice. Is it because its either I or E heavy? Is it because of a bad association? I don’t expect everyone to like, everyone has different tastes and that’s what makes our names unique. I’m just curious because I really like it.
This is not a rant by the way, I am just trying to image the reaction I’d get I named a future daughter that.

Sorry I thinks its a nana name. So I think it is that bad.

Its okay… kind of a grandma name which isn’t my favorite style. And I just personally don’t like the sound either.

I don’t think it’s so bad. If it’s the name you love, use it!

Our friends’ child has this name (although spelled differently), and I’ve grown to like it on her. I don’t think it has a lovely sound to it, but it’s kind of cute.

I don’t think it’s bad at all. It’s got a rather lovely ring to it. But then, I don’t know any grandma’s named [name]Ida[/name], so I can easily picture it on a little girl. Same thing with [name]Vera[/name].

I really like [name]Ida[/name]. I feel like its an undiscovered vintage gem.

I don’t see anything wrong or bad about it. I prefer it over [name]Ada[/name].

I really like it, personally. Although I do understand how it could sound too dusty and clunky for some.

What’s wrong with [name]Ida[/name]? It’s a perfectly nice name O_o

Blech… Sorry but it is bad

[name]Ida[/name] is a perfectly fine name! I don’t see anything wrong with it. Many relatives on my maternal grandmother’s side have it, and they’re all great people.

It’s not to my taste but I see nothing wrong with it, per se. I’d avoid it with a wordy surname though - [name]Ida[/name] [name]Forrest[/name] isn’t the best combo.

I hate this name. Haaate it. It’s the combination of that long nasal “I” sound with the heavy thunk of a “d” in my middle…my toes just curl. I realize it’s probably not THAT bad, I just have such a strong aversion to it. Sorry.

I think it’s adorable. It’s the name of one of [name]Laura[/name] Ingalls [name]Wilder[/name]'s friends in the [name]Little[/name] House series. I find it fresh and unexpected.

That’s the first thing I thought of, too!

I love [name]Ida[/name], it’s great.

Thanks Berries for you feedbackand opinions! Anyone else?

I’ve never been crazy about the name, and I wouldn’t choose it for a daughter, but there is nothing wrong with it. There are some names I dislike to the point that I’m reluctant to say them. [name]Ida[/name] is NOT one of those. In fact, the more I think about [name]Ida[/name], it’s not half bad. If you love it, use it!

It’s the sort of thing I can imagine becoming popular very quickly in 5-10 years, as sort of a follow on from [name]Isla[/name] and [name]Ada[/name].

My feelings about it are pretty neutral. I don’t love it or hate it, but it’s a perfectly nice name. It IS an old-lady name, but that’s the charm, is it not? I suppose it doesn’t have the elegance of [name]Violet[/name] or [name]Emmeline[/name], but again - isn’t that the charm? Maybe that’s just me; [name]Agnes[/name] and [name]Betsy[/name] are two of my favourites, after all. I’m a big fan of the ‘old-lady-not-so-chic’ style.

I like [name]Ida[/name]-- I think it has a vintage-spunkiness to it-- similar to [name]Josie[/name].
