I am almost 30 weeks and we are 99% sure we are using the name [name]Isabelle[/name], although we do have a few back ups just in case we change our minds last minute. However, I am starting to second guess the spelling since it can easily be mistaken as [name]Isabella[/name] when written. What does everyone think about the spelling [name]Isabel[/name]??? I think it looks prettier with the elle ending, but looking for your thoughts. We do like the nn [name]Belle[/name] but you could use that with either spelling right? Thanks!
I like [name]Isabelle[/name], but both are nice. [name]Belle[/name] could be used with either, too.
Would you consider [name]Isobel[/name]? [name]Ive[/name] always thought it looked more sophisticated and I think you could get the nn out of any version of the name
I prefer [name]Isabelle[/name]. It’s my favorite girls’ name, and I’ve always preferred that spelling–[name]Isabel[/name] has always looked incomplete to me. If you keep to the nn [name]Belle[/name], I don’t really think [name]Isabelle[/name]/[name]Isabella[/name] will be an issue. I have considered [name]Isabelle[/name] nn [name]Bella[/name], and then I think people get confused, since the endings are different… [name]Isabelle[/name] definitely looks sweeter and more classy to me, though!
Good luck!
I prefer the [name]Isabelle[/name] spelling because [name]Belle[/name] is there all spelled out. You could definitely use [name]Belle[/name] as a NN for either, I just prefer the longer version
My vote is for … [name]Isabel[/name]!
Looking at your boys names and thinking down the line.
[name]How[/name] special is [name]Isabel[/name] & [name]Walter[/name] or [name]Isabel[/name] & [name]Arthur[/name]!
[name]Just[/name] thinking ahead!
I think it looks better as [name]Isabelle[/name].
I think [name]Isabel[/name] or [name]Isobel[/name] (which was mentioned above and i also love) are both lovely and distinguishes her from the common [name]Isabella[/name].
good luck!
I strongly prefer [name]Isabel[/name] personally. [name]Isabelle[/name] looks over done and may get confused more often with [name]Isabella[/name]. Probably not, but there’s a slight possibility.
I like both, but I think I prefer [name]Isabel[/name] a tiny bit more.
I vote for [name]Isabel[/name]! It’s lovely and streamlined, and I agree with PP’s that it will probably be less likely to be confused with [name]Isabella[/name]. Let us know what you decide!
I like both but prefer [name]Isabelle[/name].
thanks everyone for the comments so far! seems like the results are split, i was hoping you would make the decision easier for me! lol i am not sure what to do, there are reasons i like both, which have all been mentioned in your comments. eeek so hard to decide…we still have lots of time so we shall see! would love to hear more feedback from anyone out there!
I prefer [name]Isabel[/name], but depending on the combo, [name]Isabelle[/name] looks/fits nicer sometimes.
i really love [name]Isabelle[/name] more. I dont think there will be a problem confusing it with isabella.
I prefer [name]Isabelle[/name]. As someone else said, [name]Isabel[/name] just feels incomplete to me. Also, I do like that [name]Belle[/name] is right in there as a nn. (You can get it with the others without any issue, but it feels more natural to me when it’s spelled right in the name.) Perhaps if you have ancestors from another country, you could use the spelling that’s commonly used there. ([name]Isabel[/name] is the Spanish version, [name]Isabelle[/name] the French and [name]Isobel[/name] the Scottish. If the info I found on them is correct.)
I definitely prefer [name]Isabel[/name] and the nn is a non issue [name]IMO[/name], [name]Belle[/name] can still be used with either. My youngest is [name]Annabel[/name] with that spelling and we also use [name]Belle[/name] 50% of the time good luck!
I prefer [name]Isabel[/name], it seems less common than [name]Isabelle[/name]. You could definitely use [name]Belle[/name] with the -bel ending too!
[name]Isobel[/name] is my favorite variation. It is so clean and tailored, and distinct from [name]Isabella[/name]. Out of your choices, though, I would definitely choose [name]Isabel[/name], I find it much more sophisticated.
I used [name]Isabel[/name] for my daughter [name]Maya[/name]'s middle name…so I kind of like that better…both are nice…I like [name]Bella[/name] for a nickname…
