Jacoby?

How do you say this name? Is it “JACK-a-bee” or “ja-CO-bee”?

I say both so I think it depends on the combo or whether it is first or middle (or male of female)

ja-CO-bee

I’ve only heard it as Ja-CO-bee

I say JACK-uh-bee

JACK-oh-bee would be my instinct

I assume JACK-uh-bee is more correct, but the only [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m] I know is juh-COH-bee. I have no idea how I would say it. I’d probably have to ask. :woman_shrugging:t3:

I’ve heard both so I’d go off the person whose name it is, if possible

Juh-co-bee, all the ones I know say it like this, never heard of this other pronunciation.
I’m quite surprised to learn tht ppl say it differently.

I say JACK-uh-bee, because that’s how I’ve heard the surname pronounced, and because it makes me think of the Jacobite rebellion, which is pronounced JACK-uh-bite.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] it as JACK-uh-bee, it sounds so cheeky and cheerful!

I’ve just seen from the latest blog post that one of the fastest-rising names last year was [name_u]Jakobe[/name_u], presumably influenced by [name_m]Kobe[/name_m] [name_m]Bryant[/name_m]. Given his name is pronounced CO-bee, I wonder whether ja-CO-bee will be the common pronunciation whatever the spelling.

Sooo I’ve heard it both ways but uh also I know it as Jacob-Bee.
I prefer it as [name_m]Jack[/name_m] than [name_m]Coby[/name_m] but yeah [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] [name_f]Bee[/name_f]

Jack-uh-bee is my first instinct, but I much prefer the sound of Ju-CO-bee

[name_m]Just[/name_m] like [name_m]Jacoby[/name_m] Ellsbury does. Didn’t realize there were other pronunciations.
