[name_m]Leif[/name_m] has hundreds of years of use as a male name. It ought to stay that way.
I could see it working, nms though. I think everybody is being very rude. There are tonnes of boys names that have been used on girls, I dont see why this is different.

I don’t think this name works for a girl and it would be constantly mis-pronounced. However I don’t think there is any need for people to be so rude, especially given some of the awful names in some people’s signatures!

I think when people consider [name_m]Leif[/name_m] on a girl it’s like considering [name_f]Erin[/name_f] on a boy (I know a male [name_f]Erin[/name_f] btw - his parents disliked the spelling of [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] but loved the name - he has always found it difficult but doesn’t want to change it because his mother was so adamant about it before she died.) If you like the sound why not just go with the hippy version [name_u]Leaf[/name_u]?
[name_f]Liv[/name_f], [name_f]Liva[/name_f] or Lieve are great, [name_u]Leaf[/name_u] is super sweet.
Why anyone would go with [name_m]Leif[/name_m] before those is beyond me.
Eh… Why use [name_m]Leif[/name_m] on a girl? I bet almost every person would think [name_m]Leif[/name_m] was a boy, and be very surprised at meeting girl-[name_m]Leif[/name_m]. [name_u]Leaf[/name_u] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f]/a are much better choice. I do know a girl named Leyvoy, so maybe that one?

I know! I had just come across the girl name [name_u]Leith[/name_u] and it made me wonder if [name_m]Leif[/name_m] was ever considered for girls, especially since names with this lay- sound are so popular right now. I’m barely familiar with the name [name_m]Leif[/name_m] and didn’t know it was so ‘masculine.’
