šŸ« madison plays name guru to the berries

I love predicting names - whether for celebrities (I got both of Colleen Ballingerā€™s twins & Ryan Reynolds/Blake Livelyā€™s baby #4 right and Iā€™m still celebrating) or people I know - and my favorite NB official posts on social media are @/sophiekihmā€™s Name Guru to the Stars predictions!

Lately, I have some free time to play with names so I thought it would be fun to try to predict for some of you!

But it would be too simple to just base it off of your UC, right?

Describe your personality and/or your pick of ā€œsiblingā€ names and I will respond with my predictions of what name you would choose! :strawberry:

Iā€™m trying to largely base this off of vibe (whether your written personality or the other names you comment) and I will do my best to ā€œforgetā€ your style and UC. This is sort of like the old ā€œ[user] will rename youā€ trend awhile back but instead of ā€œyou seem like a Graceā€ itā€™s ā€œwhat would someone who seems like a Grace pick for their childā€™s name?ā€

Disclaimer: As with all personality tests, this is likely to be highly inaccurate. If you write that you like watching TV and playing soccer - the predictions are more likely to contain Archie than Archimedes. I may also hone in on interests so be warned if you donā€™t want a name derived from your favorite book. Sibling names will make the prediction more in line with your style but may make it less of a personality test. Also, feel free to create a fake persona or aestheticize as you wish.

Thank you for indulging me  :revolving_hearts:

Edit: This thread will always be open but will be fairly slow. Most, if not all, requests are done within two weeks and I would be glad to take repeat customers (as long as background info/siblings are changed slightly). I donā€™t feel overwhelmed with predictions by any means!

OMG, this is everything I have ever wanted on the forums and more :face_holding_back_tears: [name_f]Madison[/name_f], I love you for making this and I apologize in advance if I come back more than once! [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to kick me out if Iā€™m being annoying

This is, of course, hypothetical, and based on a set Iā€™ve been having huge trouble finding a brother name for!

I already have sons named [name_m]Otto[/name_m] [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] ā€œOtterā€ and [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] ā€œRueby/Bearā€. Both names have an animal connection, with Ottoā€™s being from sound and Rupertā€™s being from the connection to the comic [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] [name_m]Bear[/name_m]. All of these names come from my family tree (and I have a list of family names on my Listography, if that helps!!), and are very soft and cosy, while still being vintage and unexpected, with quite a bit of history! I am having another son.

As for myself, I enjoy the architecture of Victorian houses, impressionist paintings, and am a hopeless romantic. [name_f]My[/name_f] dream house is a little witchy, definitely not an open-floor plan, and is decorated with fall-ish sepia tones! It is lived in and loved in, and I donā€™t mind if itā€™s not the most cohesive decoration-wise. And if my dreams pan out, it has a big yard that leads into the woods. I love clothing that is feminine and flouncy, as well as deep tones, and feel the most ā€œmeā€ when Iā€™m wearing long flowy skirts with my hair curled and a big bow holding it in a half-up half-down! I am introverted and have a strong love of literature (particularly written by women) and romance. Iā€™m more of a moon person than a sun person and the sky is one of my favorite things to photograph. Iā€™d prefer to live quietly and travel the world than live loudly and have a huge groups of friends. Psychology interests me as does gentle parenting, and I plain to raise my children following that parenting style. A quote that I think sums up my feelings on children and parenting ā€œChildren must never work for our love, they must rest in it.ā€ As for the clothes I would probably dress my children in (as I think itā€™s a good judge of naming style), I like vintage neutrals, soft fabric, knitted sweaters, button-up cardigans, baby bonnets, and pixie hats!

Let me know if you need any more information, and thank you again for making this! :white_heart:

low key, I made my most recent thread asking people to pretend im a new user and name based on my personality because I figured it would be the closest I get to being a celebrity having people guess my babyā€™s name

alright, im a YA/new adult fantasy author with 2 kids named [name_m]Rowan[/name_m] [name_f]AlizƩe[/name_f] and [name_m]Kelso[/name_m] [name_m]Forest[/name_m], and now im expecting b/g twins

Okay!! Iā€™m back!!

So Iā€™ll start with the actual combos that I came up with and my reasoning:

[name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_m]Lowell[/name_m] ā€œbrave counsel of young wolvesā€ ; [name_m]Wolfie[/name_m]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m] [name_m]Augustine[/name_m] ā€œmagnificent rock, stoneā€ ; Rabbit/Bunny
[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m] [name_m]Oscar[/name_m] ā€œright hand champion warrior like right hand man (alt meaning for [name_m]Oscar[/name_m]: deer lover)ā€ ; Bunny, Deer/Dear, [name_m]Benji[/name_m]
[name_m]Corbin[/name_m] [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] ā€œraven of the great streamā€ ; Birdie/Birdy, [name_f]Raven[/name_f]
[name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_m]Todd[/name_m] ā€œrevered foxā€ ; [name_m]Fox[/name_m], Bass/Seabass, Fishy, Bash
[name_m]Simon[/name_m] [name_m]Louis[/name_m] ā€œHe has heard of our renowned warriorā€ ; Cat/Kitty, maybe Monkey
[name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Julien[/name_m] ā€œguardian of youth/youthfulnessā€ ; Lemur, Jed/Ted/Ned

Vibes/Rationale:
I will attach a scan of the aforementioned piece of paper! We know we need an animal connection - I started by looking for clear animal connections and then I thought ā€œOtto and Rupertā€™s animal connections arenā€™t actually that obviousā€ so I zoomed out a bit which may have gotten absurd but may have worked. I took note of some key words or ideas like ā€œwarm, Victorian, not-modern, witchy, eclectic, nature, feminist.ā€ But I really honed in on a common theme while I was looking up the name [name_m]Rupert[/name_m]: all four of the names have a saint connection. There are two [name_m]German[/name_m] Sts. [name_m]Rupert[/name_m], [name_m]Henry[/name_m] II the [name_f]Holy[/name_f] [name_m]Roman[/name_m] Emperor, Sts. [name_m]Otto[/name_m] including [name_m]Otto[/name_m] of Bamberg, and multiple Sts. [name_m]Raphael[/name_m]. You didnā€™t mention anything about religion but you also didnā€™t say that you didnā€™t want a religious connection so I thought this would be a fun idea to lean into - especially because saintly names often feel antique, gothic, candlelit, and European.

I hope hope hope this did your names justice! Come back anytime

I love this!!

Knowing that I spend most of my time with art history, reading, working with kids, and having family + friend movie nights, what do you think Iā€™d be most likely to name my kid? [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite flowers are sunflowers, I can get lost in a craft fair, Iā€™m great at escape rooms but terrible at strategy board games, and was recently told that if I was a potato product, I would 100% be a tater tot.

[name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to draw from things you know about me that I didnā€™t mention here; I wasnā€™t totally sure how to write about myself.

This is so fun!

my personality in terms of naming

my favorite names tends to be centered around spiritual meanings and personal significance (which should make it hard for you ). I heavily gravitate towards names that are non-English in origin and sound. I get a lot of inspiration from the attitude towards names that was created during the 1960s counterculture movement, as well as bharatanatyam dance, an [name_f]Indian[/name_f] classical dance form that I practice. Most of my favorite names come from Sanskrit, Arabic, or Hebrew. Any name with a meaning related to life, nature, music, spirituality, or peace is likely to become a favorite!

Hypothetical sister would be [name_f]Chava[/name_f] Shanthi.

Tysm for doing this!! Itā€™s so awesome!!

What would you name my children based on this?:

I am an ENTJ. I love people and adore my friends to death, but I also need alone time. I am nearly a 50/50 split on the MBTI test (Iā€™m 54% extroverted and 46% introverted, explaining my personality).

I am a classical musician and composer! I play both the flute and piano competitively, participating in many festivals and competitions. I also play in a flute ensemble, one of the best for youth in the state. I also love composing, and my ensemble premiered one of my works this past year. Classical music is basically my entire life!

Aside from music, I also play volleyball. Iā€™m kind of a tough player who doesnā€™t like losing, and Iā€™ve been known to be a little hard on people when they screw up. But I truly do love the sport, and off of that court, some of my teammates are good friends.

When Iā€™m not busy, I love being on NB, watching YouTube, reading, writing, playing with my dogs, cooking, baking, and texting my friends.

[name_f]My[/name_f] naming style is very classic. I love familiar and sweet names with a good history. I love Biblical names, and also those with nice meanings. I also like a combo to contain one shorter and one longer name.

This is a great idea ā€“ so fun! What would you name my children knowingā€¦?

me to the best of my description

Iā€™m an avid reader and rom-com watcher, a hopeless romantic and an animal lover. [name_f]My[/name_f] ideal day would surely include rain storms and [name_f]Disney[/name_f] movies and Dr. [name_f]Pepper[/name_f] and cuddles from my brothers. I thrive most when I am caring for others and I often long to travel across the world. Period pieces are my absolute favorite genre, including novels such as Pride and Prejudice, [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_m]Green[/name_m] Gables, and [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women, as well as movies/shows like The [name_f]Guernsey[/name_f] Literary and Potato [name_m]Peel[/name_m] Society and [name_m]Little[/name_m] House on the [name_f]Prairie[/name_f]. I was told by my best friend today that if I were a type of weather, I would be a sunshower.

A hypothetical brother could be named [name_m]Harvey[/name_m] [name_m]George[/name_m], if youā€™d like. Thank you so much for doing this!

Hi!!!

I thought I would lost out my general predictions (mixing boy, girl, and unisex), then combos, and finally some twinsets groupings.

[name_f]My[/name_f] list for girl and unisex names was flourishing but I struggled with the boys list (anticipating that you can feel my pain here ) because I didnā€™t want a ā€œstrongā€ name. I also didnā€™t want a descriptive combo (Echo [name_f]Rain[/name_f], [name_f]Indigo[/name_f] Atlas).

First I picked out some trends with [name_m]Rowan[/name_m] [name_f]AlizĆ©e[/name_f] and [name_m]Kelso[/name_m] [name_m]Forest[/name_m]: unisex, full on nature or at least nature-ish, [name_m]French[/name_m], names that feel modern but really arenā€™t.

Then I honed in on the YA [name_f]Fantasy[/name_f] vibes: [name_m]Bright[/name_m], bold, wild, bada$$, main character energy. Some people that came to mind as a style influence include [name_f]Olivie[/name_f] [name_m]Blake[/name_m], [name_f]Chappell[/name_f] [name_m]Roan[/name_m] & [name_f]Renee[/name_f] Rapp (completely unrelated to anything you said but I think bright, bold ā†’ Chappell), [name_f]Shay[/name_f] [name_m]Mitchell[/name_m].

Individual names that I would predict we would see somewhere:
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m]
[name_f]Echo[/name_f]
[name_m]Finley[/name_m]
[name_m]Garnet[/name_m]
[name_m]Inigo[/name_m]

[name_f]Nova[/name_f]
[name_f]Rain[/name_f]
[name_m]Sawyer[/name_m]

Combos
Boys:
[name_m]Jasper[/name_m] [name_m]Inigo[/name_m]
[name_f]Padget[/name_f] [name_m]Maxence[/name_m]
[name_m]Garnet[/name_m] [name_m]Beck[/name_m]

[name_f]Echo[/name_f] [name_m]Linden[/name_m]
[name_m]Perry[/name_m] [name_m]Nouvel[/name_m] (Nouvel is either too much or perfect for a French-American child of an author)
[name_f]Lux[/name_f] [name_f]Indigo[/name_f]
[name_f]Teal[/name_f] [name_m]Orion[/name_m]

Twinsets

[name_f]My[/name_f] description

I am sort of introverted, artistic, nerdy, and romantic. I like drawing, painting, reading, manga, movies, and video games. I also love animals and nature and just being outdoors in general. I would love to travel the world but havenā€™t done it yet.
As far as naming goesā€¦ I like for my names to have great meanings and subtle honors in them, and I love nature, space, mythical, and classic names (and mixing all those styles together).

ā€¦ so what should I name my first child?

This is absolutely amazing. Just WOW!! Iā€™m literally so in love with the scan you added of your notes, I adore that I can see your thought process through this all. It is absolutely brilliant, and I am so thankful :face_holding_back_tears: :white_heart:

As for the suggestions, Iā€™m really loving Peter Augustine, Simon Louis, and Edward Julian! Benjamin Oscar is so fun too. I also really like Maxwell with them, he was one of the brother names I considered! Conrad is an unexpected pick, but I actually quite enjoy him with Otto and Rupert!

From your paper, your first name ideas of Otis, Hugo, Felix, Wilfred, and Barnaby are all ones that were on my list initially, and pretty much all of them made it into my favorites. You were spot on with those! Ignatius as a middle name is perfect, as is Augustin(e). I just genuinely love seeing how spot on you are, especially as I oftentimes donā€™t pick up on the underlying patterns in the sets I like, when they really are there and quite prominent, so itā€™s lovely to see them laid out! Peregrine, Hershel, Wolfgang, Leonard, Albert, Frederick, Ernest, Louis, Oscar, Simon, Sylvester, Harvey, Edmund, Edward, Sidney, Walter, Clement, August, Augustine, and Simeon are all perfect with them too, and a lot of these were on my list as well (Wolfgang, Leonard, Albert, Frederick, Earnest, Louis, Oscar, Sylvester, Harvey, Edward, Sidney, and Walter)!

Once again thank you so much. You are brilliant and so talented at this, Madison! :white_heart:

PS: Your handwriting is beautiful!

Description of me

Maybe this is a bit too detailed butā€¦

Iā€™m a writer of poetry, short stories, and realist fiction; I love reading and studied [name_f]English[/name_f] Literature at university; my favourite book is [name_f]Villette[/name_f] by [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] and I wrote my final dissertation on my favourite character, [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] Fanshawe; I have 5 guinea pigs who I love dearly and their names are [name_m]Benvolio[/name_m] (Ben), [name_m]Edwin[/name_m] (Eddy), [name_m]Ambrosio[/name_m] (Brosie), [name_f]Pippa[/name_f], and Peyton; I like long walks, especially cliffside and country walks; I love going to beach, especially if itā€™s rugged and cliffy; Iā€™m currently collecting Jellycats (I especially like the amusables) and gemstones; some other interests include: names (obviously), BBC Ghosts, The Beano, Wuthering Heights, LGBTQ+ fiction, and autism; Iā€™m usually wearing bold make-up, colourful clothes, and doc martens; Iā€™m a big fan of routine, being home, my Tangles and tattoos.

If you want some info about my naming style (feel free to ignore)

Thank you for offering this - and no worries if you donā€™t feel inspired!

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] hello letā€™s do this

So I started with a bit of a [name_m]Pepe[/name_m] [name_f]Silvia[/name_f] excursion for some key themes. For people (and their associated vibes) I have [name_f]Susan[/name_f] [name_f]Vreeland[/name_f], [name_f]Reese[/name_f] Witherspoon, [name_f]Nancy[/name_f] Meyers, [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_m]Ephron[/name_m], and [name_f]Mandy[/name_f] [name_m]Moore[/name_m]. For words and phrases, I have Parent Trap, summer camp, popsicles, [name_f]Cozy[/name_f] (with multiple arrows pointing to it so you know itā€™s serious), popcorn, and macaroni art. I really thought I was doing something with macaroni art, you should maybe dial into that. I wrote the phrase ā€œCamp Cozyā€ which is sort of the guiding light here.

I think a ā€˜90s/ā€˜00s vibe might be at play here, not sure how much itā€™s actually reflected in names but I donā€™t see anything particularly modern or vintage - just familiar. There may be literary or art references but not in a pretentious way. One struggle was that there are a lot of great fire/sun/summer/warm names (Cassia, [name_m]Ignatius[/name_m], Goldie) that are just too much, whether it be too heavy or dark or mysterious.

Short list of name predictions:

[name_m]August[/name_m] (including [name_m]Augie[/name_m] or Gus), [name_f]Ruby[/name_f], [name_f]Hallie[/name_f], [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_m]Emerson[/name_m] (boy or girl), [name_m]Jack[/name_m], [name_m]Declan[/name_m], [name_m]Asher[/name_m], [name_m]Graham[/name_m] (graham crackers ā†’ sā€™mores ā†’ Camp Cozy), [name_m]Wesley[/name_m], [name_f]Cassie[/name_f], [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] (including the variety of associated nicknames but especially Penny), [name_f]Iris[/name_f], [name_m]Heath[/name_m], [name_m]Todd[/name_m] (wild card but it fits everything minus art but plus tater tot)

Combo prediction ideas:
[name_f]Anne[/name_f] [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]
[name_m]Charlie[/name_m] [name_f]Susanna[/name_f]
[name_m]Wesley[/name_m] [name_m]Claude[/name_m]
[name_f]Nina[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f]
[name_m]Jonah[/name_m] [name_m]Spencer[/name_m]
[name_m]Arlo[/name_m] [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]
[name_m]Jack[/name_m] [name_m]Nolan[/name_m]
[name_f]Tessa[/name_f] [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]
[name_m]Emerson[/name_m] [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m] [name_m]Leo[/name_m]
[name_m]August[/name_m] [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_f]Cassie[/name_f] [name_f]Willow[/name_f]

iā€™m a very bright person, iā€™m usually bouncing off the walls. iā€™m the type of person some people wish could have an off switch because iā€™m constantly laughing and giggling or doing something else obnoxiously loud. iā€™m not disruptive and in things like classes try my best to shut up so other people can work as i am so one who also get aggravated super easily. iā€™m pretty easy to piss off, and get very angry easily. though i always calm down quickly and apologise. i love small children and will happily spend my entire day with them, as i just find them so sweet, funny and just entertaining in general! i love summer and just bright things in general, my favourite colour is purple!

thank you again for doing this! :sunflower:

Nervous and excited becuse I feel like Iā€™m partaking in a challenge

[name_f]Chava[/name_f] Shanthi very literally fits your description of ā€œlife, nature, music, spirituality, peace.ā€ For the sake of options, I didnā€™t adhere as specifically. I did stay in the non-English range of Sanskrit, Arabic, and Hebrew names (more [name_f]Mayim[/name_f] than Miriam).

I tried to find names that felt clear, dewy, fresh, and natural. I saw that Bharatanatyam utilizes the tree pose (Vrksasana) so I thought a tree name would be really fun as a subtle reference.

Single names that I would predict:
[name_f]Amrit[/name_f], [name_m]Aryeh[/name_m], [name_m]Aviv[/name_m] / [name_f]Aviva[/name_f], [name_f]Dalia[/name_f], [name_f]Gita[/name_f], [name_f]Hayat[/name_f], [name_m]Lev[/name_m], [name_f]Mayim[/name_f] / [name_f]Mai[/name_f], [name_f]Noor[/name_f], [name_m]Omri[/name_m], Prishti, [name_f]Rama[/name_f], [name_f]Rani[/name_f], [name_f]Reena[/name_f], [name_m]Samir[/name_m] / [name_f]Samira[/name_f], [name_f]Soraya[/name_f], [name_m]Surya[/name_m], [name_m]Tal[/name_m] / [name_f]Tali[/name_f] / [name_f]Talia[/name_f] / [name_m]Talha[/name_m] (went all out on the [name_m]Tal[/name_m] names), [name_m]Tzvi[/name_m], [name_f]Uma[/name_f]

Combo prediction ideas:

this is so cool and iā€™m going to be anxiously awaiting your response (take your time!!)

hereā€™s what i came up with, i hope i did ok:)

about me<3

iā€™m a shy and quiet person, admittedly a bit of a loner but i also tend to over-romanticize everything and i love very deeply. i love knickknacks, souvenirs and jellycat stuffed animals and i dont really have one definitive style. my main hobbies are long distance running and watching netflix and my current favorite activity is driving around with music blasting. i was raised on grateful dead music and a big part of my childhood was music and concerts. itā€™s definitely something that i want to pass down to my children when i become a parentā€”my kids will be free-spirited, colorful and spunky. my dream is to live in a little white house in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to my kids school.
