šŸ« madison plays name guru to the berries

I canā€™t help but come back, but please feel free to skip over me if itā€™s too much to go again!

I have daughters named Alcott June ā€œCotty,ā€ Favor Elouise ā€œFizzy,ā€ and Merit Rosalie ā€œMerry.ā€ I am having a son!

I personally enjoy literature written by women, impressionist paintings, Victorian houses. I love subtly witchy aesthetics but am also drawn to bright colors for the girls clothes. As a family we spend a lot of time outside exploring and making stories, and the girls love looking at the meanings of their names in the dictionary! We love to read and travel together and enjoy making crafts and planting fruits and veggies to harvest, although flowers are the thing most present in our garden. Our house is loud and organized chaos, the fridge covered in drawings and paintings made by our girls! I am introverted, but my daughters have taught me how to be comfortable taking up space - particularly Favor. We are music lovers (Hozier is big in our house) and enjoy playing music throughout the house on full blast so we can hear it while we play outside. My husband is a soccer player and I am a photographer.

Let me know if you need any more information!

Okay so !! At first I dialed into the music/composition angle because itā€™s your life itā€™s your love itā€™s your passion! But then I started looking at composers and musiciansā€¦ they are often more along the lines of [name_m]Amadeus[/name_m] or [name_m]Wolfgang[/name_m] (obviously haha Iā€™m naming the most obvious ones) which doesnā€™t feel like your vibe at all. I wanted to stay [name_f]English[/name_f] or Western European and I specifically picked out the idea of ā€œthe least snobby names used by the [name_f]British[/name_f] [name_m]Royal[/name_m] Family.ā€ Allow me to elaborate: your kids would be first chair cello or spirited member of the marching band! They are typical suburban kids who appreciate music and drum a beat with their pencils. As I was thinking of ā€œroyalā€ names, I wanted to steer away from names like [name_m]Albert[/name_m], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m], and [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] - yes, they seem like composer names but they donā€™t seem like a friendly student council members (though not discounting a music inspired middle name like Allegra!). Though you may choose to do something like [name_m]Frederic[/name_m] Chopin being acknowledged via an alteration like [name_m]Frederick[/name_m]. I could also see the kids going by a nickname like [name_f]Cecelia[/name_f] ā€œCeceā€ or [name_m]William[/name_m] ā€œWill.ā€

As I was reading your description my brain was like ā€œyes yes yes I totally see the visionā€ that will either come across in the names or make me confidently wrong.

For the boys, the vibe is [name_m]Fitzwilliam[/name_m] [name_f]Darcy[/name_f], of course. Iā€™m thinking the rain scene and honestly Pride & Prejudice 2005 as a whole. Theyā€™re gentlemanly boys - keyword being gentle! Iā€™m also drawn to the [name_f]Guernsey[/name_f] Literary and Potato [name_m]Peel[/name_m] Society reference; it doesnā€™t stick out, but itā€™s the surprise of the list. The girls, on the otherhand, are fiery main characters, but in a traditional Nameberry style rather than quirky YA protagonist.

If I could bank on a duo it would be [name_m]Hugo[/name_m] & [name_f]Eliza[/name_f]!

Thank you for doing this! No rush at all ā€“ youā€™ve got a lot of requests!

For the sake of this exercise, weā€™ll say I already have a daughter named Susanna, so youā€™ll be predicting her sibling(s)!

My ā€œnaming personalityā€ is Biblical, classic, and/or cottagecore. I prefer names that are easy to pronounce and spell.

(Sorry, that really isnā€™t a lot to go off of!)

[name_m]Hi[/name_m]! So Iā€™m thinking of names that might be celestial or bookish with a dark vibe but not super dark - walking a fine line for sure. I sort of see introversion and the interests you listed as leading to a name that is really deep with references or meaning. Itā€™s hard because I donā€™t specifically know what you want to instill in a name, but I can still give it my best shot.

Individual name predictions:
[name_f]Lyra[/name_f], [name_f]Estelle[/name_f], [name_f]Juno[/name_f], [name_f]Enid[/name_f], [name_f]Freya[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f], [name_f]Cleo[/name_f], [name_f]Primrose[/name_f], [name_f]Elodie[/name_f], [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], [name_f]Delphine[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], [name_f]Zelda[/name_f], [name_f]Willa[/name_f]
[name_m]Wolf[/name_m], [name_m]Casper[/name_m] / [name_m]Caspian[/name_m], [name_m]Bellamy[/name_m], [name_m]Callum[/name_m], [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Julian[/name_m], [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] / [name_m]Theo[/name_m], [name_m]Murphy[/name_m], [name_m]Dorian[/name_m], [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], [name_m]Elias[/name_m], [name_m]Ivo[/name_m]

[name_m]Ezra[/name_m] [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m]

ā€¦ this is almost spot on. I love so many of the names you suggested

I loved reading your description! The cliffside and country walks are a dream, your guinea pigs and their names will be explored more, and Iā€™m excited about the [name_f]English[/name_f] literature inspiration.

I pondered many things, only half of which were guinea pig-related, but letā€™s start with the big one: [name_f]Villette[/name_f]. It can be hard when you love something so much that you want to (and should) honor it, but I also donā€™t see you being like ā€œThis is my child [name_f]Ginevra[/name_f] Fanshawe II.ā€ I see it as a middle or maybe a first (sort of feels like an easy win for me) but how does that shape the rest of the names?

Onto the babies! I am very interested in the style dichotomy between Ambrosio/Benvolio and [name_f]Peyton[/name_f]. This is a purely philosophical issue, but Iā€™m wondering if thereā€™s a literature connection Iā€™m forgetting or if the style match is more Ben/Eddyā€¦ Nevertheless, I find myself leaning into the ā€œromantic names with cute or familiar nicknames.ā€ I fully anticipate that this may mean that my predictions will lean more Guinea Pig #6 than Hypothetical Child #1.

The colorful clothes and [name_m]Doc[/name_m] [name_m]Martens[/name_m] also throw me a bit because it is in character, but the atmospheric cliffside aesthetic feels more reminiscent of flowing clothes (cloaks for sure), greens and creams and stormy blue tones.

Okay wait I caved and clicked the naming style box. PJ and [name_m]Toby[/name_m] are much more in line with [name_f]Peyton[/name_f]. Also the names are taking the vibe from Wuthering Heights to high energy really quickly hmmmm (I want to be so clear that this is not a critique Iā€™m just thinking into my keyboard - I also know at least some of the names on your actual list and am trying to block them out).

Aaaaaanyway back to the task at hand

This is so cool! Thank you so so much in advance. :two_hearts:

about me

For this fake scenario, letā€™s say I have a daughter named [name_f]Marilla[/name_f] [name_f]Hope[/name_f], and a son named [name_m]Robin[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
In terms of names, Iā€™d say my style is pretty consistent, I but find it hard to pin down for some reason. I think the main two ā€œcategoriesā€ of my names are vintage gems and nature word names. [name_f]My[/name_f] girls, I think lean more vintage gems, while my boys are more nature inspired. I also love biblical and [name_m]Christian[/name_m] word names that honor my faith, and names with literary references.
In terms of my own interests, I love to read, especially classics, historical fiction, and romance. [name_f]My[/name_f] favorite books are [name_f]Anne[/name_f] of [name_m]Green[/name_m] Gables, [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women, and anything by [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_m]Austen[/name_m]. [name_m]Nature[/name_m] is my happy place and I love flowers (my favorites are daisies and forget-me-nots), sunshine, long walks in the woods, and springtime afternoons. I love spending time with my friends and family, and despise being an introvert, people are very important to me and I love making new connections with new people. I love to laugh, and I can be the loudest person in the room when I want to be.
You can usually find me in floral prints, comfy jeans & overalls, old converse, casual, and silver jewelry. [name_f]My[/name_f] go-to ā€œniceā€ outfit is a light pink baby tee underneath a blue floral dress with spaghetti straps, paired with my doc martens and a white or pink ribbon in my hair. I love light, bright, happy colors like lavender, light yellows and pinks, sage green, and baby blue. I dream of one day having a home out in the countryside, filled with sunlight, music, and laughter. Iā€™d love to have a vegetable garden and a flower garden, and my dream is to have a big old oak tree that I can hang a swing on for my kiddos to play on. I hope to be able to pass on my love for learning to my children, in whatever form that takes for them, but most of all I hope theyā€™ll be able to feel my limitless love for them, and the joy that they bring me.

Iā€™m so excited to see what you have for me, Madison!! The ones Iā€™ve seen so far are absolutely amazing. But take your time, of course, and please feel free to skip me.

Ooooh funn!! If youā€™re not totally burnt out on doing these by the time you reach mineā€”

Iā€™m pretty quiet and shy, but enjoy deep bonds with other people. I like pottery painting, interior design, French girl style, musicals (mostly modern musical theatre), ballet, travelling, going to coffee/out to eat, chilling at home, cooking with organic local whole foods. I hope to raise my kids in Europe (currently thinking Italian countryside, weā€™ll see if this pans out :raised_hands:t2:) and intend on being a sahm and unschooling my children - always wanted to be a mom, but suburban mom life is not my ideal. Big lover of Georgian architecture and Haussmann interiors! Favourite seasons are everything but summer (hate the heat) :v:t2: love sitcoms and 2000s romcoms. Favourite music genres are punk/alt rock and pop

@lateaugust [name_f]Madison[/name_f], this was such a delight to read and I loved getting an insight into your thought process!

[name_m]Ambrosio[/name_m] and [name_m]Benvolio[/name_m] are both literary (The Monk and [name_m]Romeo[/name_m] and Juliet) but were also chosen because we needed [name_m]Ben[/name_m] to be the benevolent peacemaker and Brosie to be someoneā€™s ā€˜Broā€™! As for [name_f]Peyton[/name_f], I love the name, but it was also chosen because she was adopted - her original name was Potato - and we wanted something ā€˜similarā€™ in sound!!!

tbf, guinea pig #6 is far more likely than child #1

I wish I could be that cool!

Iā€™m feeling like the guinea pigs names are not helping stylewise, especially when I love them all, but the reasons behind them are very specific (Toby had extra toes, PJā€™s markings looked like stripy pyjamas) so thank you for still picking this all apart!

Onto the name suggestions!

Iā€™m loving (okay, maybe theyā€™re already on the list):
[name_f]Ginevra[/name_f], [name_f]Polly[/name_f], [name_f]Adele[/name_f], [name_f]Cassia[/name_f], [name_f]Isolde[/name_f], [name_f]Snow[/name_f]

[name_f]Sabine[/name_f] ā†’ so zippy and fun

[name_m]Nikolai[/name_m] ā†’ another one on the edge of my list - lovely sounds

[name_f]Ariadne[/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] ā†’ itā€™s so fun but mystical too

[name_m]Stellan[/name_m] [name_m]Barnabas[/name_m] ā†’ ooh magical and so pleasing to say

[name_m]Orlando[/name_m] [name_m]Bly[/name_m] ā†’ oohh this is very cool, love the literary vibes

[name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_m]Thorne[/name_m] ā†’ lovve [name_m]Conrad[/name_m]! And [name_m]Thorne[/name_m]! I think Iā€™d do [name_m]Conrad[/name_m] [name_m]Hawthorne[/name_m] but Iā€™m loving it as it is though

[name_m]Sidney[/name_m] Adric ā†’ [name_m]Sidney[/name_m] has been on my mind recently! [name_f]Love[/name_f] the flow of it!

[name_m]Loving[/name_m] seeing your notes too! ā€˜Eventually the [name_f]Bronte[/name_f] vibes will be too muchā€™ made me smile

I love classic literature and I am currently reading [name_m]Les[/name_m] Miserables but enjoyed [name_m]Little[/name_m] Women and The [name_f]Secret[/name_f] Garden. I would like to live in a cottage in maybe [name_f]England[/name_f] or [name_f]France[/name_f]. I consider myself to be quite grandmalike in my names as I like them on the clunkier side with lots of nicknames. Thank you so much

Hi!! Iā€™m excited to do this! When reading your description, I really related to a lot of it (but Iā€™m trying not to project my preferences onto the predictions, especially ones that I know you love/we share).

I know you said green/purple, but I was thinking a lot of gold/sun/moon/light/warm tones. Still, I may add in nature inspiration broadly (particularly in the middle spot so that you can have a hero/heroine that is still grounded). I like the idea of a name that feels ā€œlight academia.ā€

The linguistics and travel attributes, made me think an international name/international influences would be at play. With historical fiction and the aforementioned interests, Iā€™m definitely thinking vintage - that may be ancient like Clio/Cleo or traditional vintage like [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f] - but not modern.

Jumping ahead to combos, I think pairing an interesting international name with a spunky classic would be nice. I donā€™t see you wanting a shocking name, but it still has to be meaningful.

A few that Iā€™m including are some that may not necessarily be predictions (in the sense that predictions = I anticipate that you have this name picked out already), but ones that I could see or would like to see for you - like [name_f]Aurea[/name_f] and [name_f]Asta[/name_f].

Individual name predictions:
[name_m]Auden[/name_m], [name_m]Dashiell[/name_m], [name_f]Aurea[/name_f] / [name_f]Aurelia[/name_f], [name_f]Clio[/name_f], [name_f]Alba[/name_f] / [name_m]Albin[/name_m], [name_f]Ines[/name_f], [name_f]Romy[/name_f], [name_f]Wynn[/name_f], [name_f]Sasha[/name_f], [name_m]Cyrus[/name_m] / [name_m]Cy[/name_m] / [name_f]Cyra[/name_f], [name_f]Asta[/name_f], [name_f]Gaia[/name_f], [name_m]Vincent[/name_m], [name_m]Raphael[/name_m], [name_f]Rosalind[/name_f], [name_m]Inigo[/name_m], [name_m]Bram[/name_m], [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m], [name_m]Elio[/name_m], [name_m]Sol[/name_m] (boy or girl), [name_m]Pax[/name_m] / [name_f]Maxine[/name_f] / [name_f]Maxima[/name_f], [name_f]Lua[/name_f]

Combo prediction ideas:

This is such a fun thread! Iā€™ve been feeling stalled in the name hunt for my son due in [name_f]December[/name_f], but seeing everyoneā€™s self-descriptions and having those related to names and vibes has made me see some names in more color than they read off a simple list on the screen. Itā€™s really helpful!

If youā€™re not burnt out by this point, hereā€™s mine for consideration:

Summary

First things first, you could say I march to the beat of my own drum. As an adult who was once raised strictly, Iā€™ve become someone whoā€™s aware of the grain but not afraid to go against it if that feels right for what I want out of life. I chose to become a mom on my own, and my hypothetical first childā€™s name is [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] ā€œMac.ā€

I work in health care and love interactions with my patients and also the mystery of their health pictures that Iā€™m trying to gain insight into by doing an ultrasound. Itā€™s user-dependent so I have to be investigative and thorough to turn in a good scan and find the issue theyā€™re having.

In my off time, itā€™s fifty-fifty on whether you might find me out or at home. Outside, I love to hike and take nature walksā€“the forest is my happy place and I love nothing more than a bubbling stream, a canopy of verdant trees and ancient ferns, or a rocky beach with driftwood. Indoors, my interests span writing fiction (often saucy, sometimes emotive or dark), cooking, listening to music, doing crosswords or logic puzzles, or playing video games (favorites being [name_m]Fire[/name_m] Emblem, Stardew [name_f]Valley[/name_f], or Pokemon because I grew up on it and canā€™t let it go apparently ). TV wise itā€™s a split between fantasy/historical, true crime, and reality game shows-- so right now Iā€™m watching Big [name_m]Brother[/name_m] alongside House of The Dragon and rewatching You.

Musically, tastes are all over the place. Some of my current favorites would be [name_f]Megan[/name_f] Thee Stallion, [name_f]Fall[/name_f] Out [name_m]Boy[/name_m], Chapell [name_m]Roan[/name_m], Scene [name_f]Queen[/name_f], [name_m]Foster[/name_m] The People, [name_f]Lil[/name_f] [name_m]Nas[/name_m] X. [name_f]Pretty[/name_f] much most genres except country, jazz, or classical suit me.

Aesthetics-wise, favorite colors are orange, blue, green, and gray. I tend to wear earthy and sea colors, muted or pastel toned, and choose white and silver over black or gold accents/accessories.

Welp, I feel like I babbled on too long, but thanks for the opportunity! Iā€™m going to go deep clean the house now because that is another thing I do a lot. :joy:

Hello! I really liked your description and hopefully I did this task justice! Iā€™m a PhD student/in academia so I feel like I understand those vibes.

When I think of law, I do think ā€œformal, tailored, disciplined.ā€ And this is confirmed by some of the interests that you listed. [name_m]Tennis[/name_m], politics, baking - they all sound like things that require prescision. But this was countered by some of your personal descriptions like color > beige. Baking is a science but inventing your own recipes is an art!

I wanted to find names that are more formal but can also feel cozy, cuddly, fun, and a little quirky. I wouldnā€™t be surprised if you leaned into classic names with spunky nicknames, such as [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] ā€œCharlie.ā€ [name_m]Or[/name_m] combining a traditional name with a more whimsical middle name.

One word that I honed in on was ā€œbrightā€ as I felt it summed up just about everything.

Individual name predictions: [name_f]Annelise[/name_f] (and alternate spellings like [name_f]Annalise[/name_f] or Anneliese), [name_f]Clara[/name_f], [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f], [name_f]Phoebe[/name_f], [name_f]Philippa[/name_f] (Pippa), [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] (maybe called Marnie), [name_f]Florence[/name_f] (maybe called Flora), [name_f]Niamh[/name_f]
[name_m]Christopher[/name_m] (Kit), [name_m]Oscar[/name_m], [name_m]Albert[/name_m] (Albie, Bertie), [name_m]Rory[/name_m], [name_m]Leopold[/name_m] (Leo), [name_m]Benedict[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Robin[/name_m]

Combo prediction ideas:

oh my goodness I just adore this; so many of the names you chose are just perfect :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: Youā€™re right in that I definitely have a more fun side to balance out my formal interests, and you captured the contrast beautifully!!!

Wow, this is spot on. Basically 90% of my list is somewhere along these lines

I never even put these together, but it makes so much sense when I think about it. I actually love international names more when I have some kind of connection to the country of origin - I love [name_m]French[/name_m] names and have been learning [name_m]French[/name_m] for five years, I love Scandinavian names and have travelled to Scandinavia multiple times. I feel like Iā€™m seeing something that should have been obvious :joy:

Thatā€™s really accurate as well - most of the names I like fall into the former, ā€œunique/spunky/rare vintageā€ category, but I like a large portion of the latter category too.

Iā€™m really loving the predictions, itā€™s surprising how many of these I like without having ever really considered them before. I find [name_f]Lua[/name_f], [name_f]Aurea[/name_f] and [name_m]Auden[/name_m] especially exciting.
[name_f]Lua[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is sticking out to me; Iā€™m also loving [name_m]Phineas[/name_m] [name_m]Keir[/name_m] and [name_m]Linus[/name_m] [name_m]Bellamy[/name_m]. I really canā€™t dislike any of your ideas though!

Iā€™m definitely going to spend some time mulling over those notes. Thank you so much for your time!

For most people I feel like boy names are a bit harder, but for you I felt like I could name boys more easily? I donā€™t see you going for a soft, dainty name. I wrote down ā€œhigh-energyā€ so many times that it basically felt like I didnā€™t need any other words. But for you Iā€™ll list them anyway haha: boisterous, loud, friendly, energetic, emotional (maybe steering you in the direction of a sentimental name?), summer, sunny, happy. I also googled the symbolism of purple and it basically said ā€œcombination of the calmness of blue and the spirited energy of redā€ which I felt was very on brand.

Back to the names! High-energy names can go in a lot of directions. Maybe short and fun like Rudy, maybe a word name like Rocket. And for girls, I could see something with a lot of movement like Juniper, Gianna, or Pippa as well as something scrappy like Quincy, Stevie, or Rory.

I also thought that you would pick something friendly. Specifically, I think it would be a name that a kid would love to have! Like the other kids at school will go home and name their dolls after your kid because they can recognize that itā€™s a really fun name. These names may not pass some of the ā€œpresidential baby name testsā€ but you wouldnā€™t want them to. You know that your kid will grow up in a world run by people with names like Trisha Paytasā€™s girls (Malibu Barbie & Elvis). So you arenā€™t particularly worried about what grandma will say when she hears your babyā€™s name, as long as itā€™s a cool name that feels you. Though I will say that I donā€™t think that this means that you would make up a name or necessarily be interested in invented names, some of the magic may be lost for you when the spelling or pronunciation is a struggle. Some celebrity names that I could see you loving include Leighton Meesterā€™s Arlo Day (g) or Jessica Simpsonā€™s Maxwell Drew (g), Ace Knute (b), and Birdie Mae (g).

One thing I wanted to highlight is that I grouped your predictions into three categories: boy, girl, and wildcard. The wildcard names may be gendered but I could largely see them on a boy or a girl.

Iā€™m including a lot more single first names than I am combos, hope that works.

Boys:
Archer / Archie, Rudy, Jago, Luca / Lucca, Kai, Koa, Rex, Wylie, Rhett, Nash, Gavin, Knox, Sonny, Fox, Axel, Huxley, Jett, Link / Lincoln, Zane, Milo / Miles, Deacon, Crew

Girls:
Gigi / Gianna, Juniper, Pippa, Piper, Poppy, Quincy, Sutton, Stevie, Sunny, Summer, Addison, Callie, Lola, Noa, Ruby, Sadie, Everly, Birdie, August, Harlow, Lyla, Story

Wildcard:
Ziggy, Palmer, Parker, Arlo, Rocket, Dash, Cash, Max / Maxwell, Mars, Phoenix, Day, Shiloh, Charlie, Drew, Arrow, Nico, Rory, Wyatt, Blue

Combos:
Gianna Summer
Sadie Max
Noa Juniper
Lola Ziggy
Callie Sutton

Rudy Archer
Milo Zane
Rex Wylie
Arlo Phoenix
Crew Beckett

also if you hate please let me know and Iā€™ll do it again! I feel like including Rocket on any post is going to inspire love/hate reactions. I would rather do it again than have you be reading this while cringing

Such a cool idea!

Summary

about me :tulip:

I am an introvert for the most part. While I do like doing family events, I need plenty of time to recharge. I would say once a month is on average how often we will go out and do things as a family. These things include going to the zoo, movies, family holidays and birthdays, restaurants, pumpkin patch, christmas lights, museums, lake, river, park, etc. I dislike large groups of people and therefore do not go to large concerts, clubs, or other events like that. Since Iā€™ve been married Iā€™ve been more interested in religion, but I donā€™t want a name that screams a certain religion. I like making my home very cozy and lived in since we spend the majority of our time at home. I love neutral colors and colors you would find in nature for decorating. I use real houseplants, never fake ones. I feel most comfortable wearing modest clothing and neutral colors. I especially like wearing blue as it brings out my eyes. I love vintage items, especially stained glass. [name_f]Every[/name_f] room of my house has a stained glass item in it and my windows are full of bright sun catchers. I like every season except summer, because it is way too hot and on fire where I live. I prefer weather that is crisp and cool. I love animals and children and have a natural ability to care for them well. I have empathy for every living creature and am very sensitive. I love astronomy and my guilty pleasure hobby is astrology. [name_f]My[/name_f] monthly flow always syncs up with the full moon. I could never name my kid an overused name. Most associations do not sway me away from a name! I could care less about the character from that childrenā€™s show. If I like the name, I like the name!

[name_f]My[/name_f] sons name is [name_m]Marshall[/name_m] [name_m]Jacob[/name_m] (Jacob to honor his father whose middle name is also Jacob)
