What are your thoughts on this? [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think it would work in real life or would he get teased for this? [name_f]Do[/name_f] people consider this a girls name? I know a female [name_u]Marlo[/name_u] and a female [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. Would it go with brother names like [name_u]Asa[/name_u], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], and [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]? I love it so much but I need opinions!
I actually kind of like [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] on a boy. I do think of it as feminine as the only [name_u]Marlo[/name_u] I know is a girl, but I think it could be unisex.
I love it! I like both this spelling and [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u], like the playwright [name_m]Christopher[/name_m]/Kit [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] (after whom our [name_u]Kit[/name_u] is partly named).
I don’t think it’s popular enough to scream “girl” to people yet, although it is rising.
I actually prefer it on a boy, it’s gorgeous. Similar vibes to names like [name_u]Winslow[/name_u], [name_u]Ellery[/name_u] and [name_u]Bellamy[/name_u] for me — smart and snappy, but sensitive.
I see [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] as a boys name. I think of [name_u]Marley[/name_u] from a [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] [name_f]Carol[/name_f]. It’s definitely useable.
I love [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]/Marlow!!
I don’t know how exposed to [name_u]Marlo[/name_u]/Marlowe/Marlow the rest of the world (aka non-namenerds) is, so it’s probably unisex to a lot of people. I do like it for a boy ([name_u]Marlow[/name_u] for boy), but prefer it for a girl ([name_u]Marlowe[/name_u] for girl). I doubt he’d get teased for it.
I view [name_u]Marlow[/name_u], this spelling, as a surname, which is up for grabs with either gender! I like it for a boy.
I hit a bump with brothers [name_u]Asa[/name_u], [name_u]Jasper[/name_u], and [name_m]Reuben[/name_m]. At first, they seem a darling, rowdy bunch who would be presumed to have a little sis named [name_u]Marlow[/name_u]. I’m warming quickly, though! The right kid, and one could assume that’d be a FOURTH boy, could pull it off grandly.
Sincerely, [name_f]Ginger[/name_f]
I know a couple of Marlows/Marlowes, both boys and girls. I think it’s a truly unisex name and absolutely think it works on a boy. In fact, I prefer it on a boy. It’s a great name! And I don’t think a boy named Marlowe would get teased at all.
I think [name_u]Marlow[/name_u]/e could go either way, boy or girl. It’s a cool name.
Not really feeling it
ok! any specific reason?
I don’t really know but it could be because I’ve never liked the low sound.
I really like [name_u]Marlow[/name_u]. Classy, literary and gentle
I like [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] on paper, but in does seem to be similar in sound to the very popular “[name_u]Milo[/name_u].” [name_m]Just[/name_m] something to think about - will that matter to you? Other than that, I like the name!
would you consider [name_u]Marley[/name_u]? it means “from the lake meadow”
i think it can work. If [name_u]Monroe[/name_u] works, why not [name_u]Marlow[/name_u].
Marley isn’t my style, but thank you! I like [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] for the literary reference. I live in the US where [name_u]Milo[/name_u] is only #162, so even that would not be an issue.
Perfect! Then I think it’s a great fit for number four. Congratulations!
I’m not expecting, just refining my list!
I like [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] for a boy I definitely think it could work! There is also the option of [name_m]Marlon[/name_m].
I love [name_u]Marlow[/name_u], and -low names in general, as masculine names.
I definitely don’t think it would be a point of teasing at all. The wider variety of names being used now, and the higher prevalence of gender neutral names, has made names on the whole less of a target of teasing- but even if that weren’t the case [name_u]Marlow[/name_u] feels like a safe choice to me.
