Pretty much decided on the name [name]Cloud[/name] for a boy. Any ideas for a middle name?
I don’t want to offend or rain on your choice and I am normally a fan of offbeat names but I don’t really like [name]Cloud[/name] as a first name. I feel like it limits a boy’s paths in life and he might not enjoy it. Maybe use it as a middle name? I feel like the first name should be about the child and the fact that they have to to live with whatever name you choose and the middle name can be more “selfish” and fun seeing as it’s not really used for much.
I like the idea of [name]Cloud[/name] but can’t imagine any of my male friends/family members being called [name]Cloud[/name] even the really hippie, out there characters.
Again, I really didn’t mean to offend you. It’s your choice. If you do use it I would make a suggestion of a more conventional (even if unusual) name as a middle so your son can choose to use it if [name]Cloud[/name] doesn’t suit him.

Respect your opinion, but rather keep [name]Cloud[/name] as a first name though. The name has a lot of meaning for me.
I have to agree that [name]Cloud[/name] may be a difficult name to carry for a boy. Can you imagine him introducing himself as [name]Cloud[/name] ____ at high profile interviews when he grows up? As someone already mentioned, if the name doesn’t match his personality it might really inhibit him growing up. However, I have to say that I do know a guy named [name]Storm[/name]–that’s his real first name. It only suits him because he has a really outlandish character and an outgoing personality. Perhaps you would consider [name]Cloud[/name] as a middle name? That way your son can choose to use the name [name]Cloud[/name] if he wants to, and he will always have the option of a different first name.
[name]Just[/name] wanted to chime in to say that I love [name]Cloud[/name] as a first name.
I also prefer it as a middle, but if you’re set on it being the first name I would go with something long and traditional like [name]Benjamin[/name], [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Zachary[/name], or [name]Theodore[/name].

I think [name]Cloud[/name] is a lovely name and I applaud you for selecting something against the grain!
Have you considered [name]Claude[/name]? I honestly thought this was a joke until I read it. Your son might get the same reaction. If you’re dead set on it though, I would pick a middle that’s very classic, very recognizable, and very distinctly masculine.

At first I was a bit put off when reading the title of the thread. But I then thought about the name more. People are naming their kids [name]River[/name], [name]Sky[/name], and [name]Rain[/name] these days. People accept those names, so what is so wrong with [name]Cloud[/name]?? It is no more “out there” than the others. The only difference is that [name]Cloud[/name] is less common. If some celeb named their kid [name]Cloud[/name], then it would suddenly become acceptable…lol. With that said, the name [name]Cloud[/name] has grown on me and I say go for it. Follow your heart

No problem! I think it would sound great with a three or four syllable middle name. If you like [name]Julian[/name] then you might like the name [name]Cloud[/name] [name]Giuliano[/name](the Italian version of [name]Julian[/name].)

By the way, I love the name [name]Cloud[/name]. [name]Just[/name] a warning though, one of the combos I liked for my son was [name]James[/name] [name]Cobalt[/name] [name]Cloud[/name] and I still get major grief about that. [name]Every[/name] chance my mom gets she likes to tell me that [name]Cloud[/name] is not a good name “Not even a middle name!” Anyway, just thought I’d tell you that. But I really do love [name]Cloud[/name] and honestly, I think once it’s the kids name, people will get used to it and it will fit him.
