Looking for ideas - boy, girl, or gender neutral - to honor a Larry.
Nothing is off limits or off the table.
Just scratching our heads on this one and struggling to find the right fit. I’ve got a pretty good list started, but don’t want to overlook what could be the right choice.
For a boy my best recommendation is [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m]. I know that today [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m] is to many people a clunky old man name but it always could be revived. Also, [name_m]Larry[/name_m] was originally a diminutive for [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m].
For a girl my best recommendations are [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f] because it has the same first syllable as [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m], which is what [name_m]Larry[/name_m] was originally a diminutive for.
However, if you cannot use [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m], [name_f]Laura[/name_f], [name_f]Lauren[/name_f] and [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], I recommend using another name that begins with L.
I second the suggestions of [name_f]Laurel[/name_f], [name_f]Lara[/name_f], [name_m]Lars[/name_m] and [name_m]Lawrence[/name_m]. With LawRENce you could use the nickname [name_m]Ren[/name_m] if that appeals.
[name_m]Lawrence[/name_m] / [name_m]Laurence[/name_m] is certainly the go-to name. I add my vote to it.
I propose the variation [name_m]Loren[/name_m]. It was a boy’s name some generations ago. And [name_m]Lorens[/name_m] is still used in other countries for boys.
A little off the beaten track but whenever I see [name_m]Larry[/name_m] I think: ’ [name_f]Happy[/name_f] as Larry’ so names that mean happpy are listed below:
