in honor of mothers day, I was wondering what you would name your daughter to honor your mom.
I would name my daughter [name_f]Nathalia[/name_f] [name_f]Peony[/name_f] because my mom has always loved the name [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and I consider [name_f]Nathalia[/name_f] to be the feminine version of [name_m]Nathaniel[/name_m] and [name_f]Peony[/name_f] is her favorite flower
Iād name my daughter [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] [name_f]Violet[/name_f] to honor my mother. [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] as a double first name (momās name is Alisyn!) and [name_f]Violet[/name_f] as the middle (which is her birth flower, as well as my sisterās name by coincidence).
Iād love to do [name_f]Alice[/name_f] [name_f]Amy[/name_f], too, (similar story of [name_f]Alice[/name_f] for Alisyn; [name_f]Amy[/name_f] for her birthstone, amethyst). But I think today Iād go with the former.
Have a happy Motherās [name_u]Day[/name_u], all mama berries and families celebrating today!
I asked my mom what sheād name a daughter to fully honor her momās name, and she said: āIād give my daughter my momās full name. Easily. I love my momās name.ā
i would use morwenna i think !! or maybe morrigan, which both share a first syllable with my mumās name. i would consider emeraude as a middle for her favourite colour. and maybe aurembiaix - itās my favourite name but she loves it and really wants me to use it one day!
[name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is my motherās favourite flower, and co-incidentally my fatherās birth flower. [name_u]Rumi[/name_u] is poetic but also has a similarity to her name.
Today, I would name her [name_f]Mae[/name_f] [name_f]Hydrangea[/name_f], as hydrangeas are my motherās favorite flowers, and [name_f]Mae[/name_f] is for her middle, [name_u]Marie[/name_u].
On another day, I would go with [name_f]Marianne[/name_f] [name_u]October[/name_u] for similar reasons above.
What a lovely question. Iām strongly considering my mumās name Beverl3y as a middle one day, but if I was getting more creativeā¦
[name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] [name_u]Joan[/name_u] āBeeā (bees are significant to her + she loves family history, [name_u]Joan[/name_u] is both an old family name plus an honour for someone from her childhood)
[name_f]Ursula[/name_f] [name_u]Rosamel[/name_u] (means ābearā which was her nickname as a kid + honey ā bees)
[name_f]Ethel[/name_f] [name_u]November[/name_u] (another old family name + her birth month)
I honoured my mum already with my daughters name [name_f]Lilia[/name_f] using Ashkenazi traditions of using the first and last letter of my mums name. Along with choosing a name that is Eastern European just like her cultural background.
To choose another option to honour my mum I would go [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] again uses the same start and end initials but is also a Feminisation of the male name Leonard/Leonardo which runs in her family tree (along with my dadās) so yep for a new honour name I would go [name_f]Leonora[/name_f]! Maybe [name_f]Leonora[/name_f] [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] as sheās born in [name_u]December[/name_u] and despite being Jewish not celebrating [name_u]Christmas[/name_u] as a child she loves that time of year.
We used my momās first name (Nancy) as middle name for my daughter [name_f]Lydia[/name_f].
Weāre planning to use my mother-in-lawās first name (Cynthia) as the middle name for our 2nd daughter (due in September). (Choosing another first name is the hard part!).
[name_f]My[/name_f] parents gave me both of their mothersā first names - my maternal grandmotherās as my first and my paternal grandmotherās as my middle! When they had my younger sister, family names were āused upā so she got two names they liked
[name_f]My[/name_f] momās name is [name_f]Kathryn[/name_f] so for a more direct honor name I would use [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or [name_f]Catherine[/name_f] as a middle name (I like the idea of a different spelling so my daughter would still have a bit of her āownā name if this makes sense)
For a fun nickname that honors my mom I would use [name_u]Kit[/name_u]
For an unrelated name I would use [name_f]Violet[/name_f] because purple is her absolute favorite color and always makes me think of her. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] could work too because itās her birth flower but I love [name_f]Violet[/name_f] so much more
For a boy I would use [name_u]Jackson[/name_u] as a middle name because thatās the name of a town her family is all from and we have many wonderful memories there
[name_f]Mara[/name_f] [name_f]Daisy[/name_f] ~ Her name meaning & a flower that reminds me of her.
[name_f]Marina[/name_f] [name_f]Iris[/name_f] ~ her birth flower.
[name_f]Maya[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] ~ her name meaning & a middle name.
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Bernadette[/name_f] ~ another favourite flower.
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Mary[/name_f] ~ flower & name meaning.
[name_f]Molly[/name_f] [name_u]Evelyn[/name_u] ~ same initial & name associated with water.
[name_f]My[/name_f] momās initials before she was married were SKR and her middle name is [name_u]Kay[/name_u]. I would name a daughter [name_f]Sylva[/name_f] [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] to honor her. [name_f]My[/name_f] mom in-lawās initials were LAB before she was married. I would name a daughter [name_u]Laurel[/name_u] [name_f]Amaia[/name_f] [name_f]Belle[/name_f] to honor her.
I would use [name_u]Lee[/name_u] for a middle name, as thatās my momās middle name!
Iād also use [name_f]Audrey[/name_f], as thatās my momās grandmotherās name that she loved and always wanted to use but never did.
[name_f]Jolee[/name_f] as a middle would honor both my mother and I. And names ending in -elle would honor both my mother and my sister.
Iām also open to using her first name as a middle name
I would name her [name_f]Ada[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. [name_f]Ada[/name_f] was her childhood nickname and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] her favourite name.
[name_f]Liliwen[/name_f] [name_f]Maureen[/name_f]. [name_f]Liliwen[/name_f] since itās a mix of our names and [name_f]Maureen[/name_f] is her middle name.
I think I would go with [name_f]Clover[/name_f] Susannah!!
[name_f]Clover[/name_f] comes from a song whose title is my momās actual name, the lyric talks about a four-leaf clover and I feel it just describes her perfectly
[name_f]Susannah[/name_f] has the same meaning (lily) as my momās name! Iād use [name_f]Lily[/name_f] but I think [name_f]Clover[/name_f] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] is too plant-y lol
