My cousin and her boyfriend are having a little girl together very soon. She has had a very tough pregnancy and has had to book a hysterectomy while she is getting a c-section. They have been discussing names since they found out it was a girl. The problem is she likes modern/unique names he likes traditional/classic names. My cousin has asked me to help by asking people online. I will show a list of names they like individually because they have no names they both like. There will be no middle name.
Her List
[name]Colbie[/name]
[name]Cassidy[/name]
[name]Mackenzie[/name]
[name]Ariel[/name]
[name]Taylor[/name]
[name]Peyton[/name]
[name]Lacey[/name]
[name]Brooke[/name]
[name]Sawyer[/name]
His list
[name]Bernadine[/name]
[name]Margaret[/name]
[name]Jean[/name]
[name]Lucille[/name]
[name]Bernadette[/name]
[name]Dorothy[/name]
[name]Colette[/name]
[name]Vera[/name]
You can see the names differ and he is not open to combining names. So please help!
Her situation sounds horrible and I am really sorry.
It kind of makes you want to sympathize with her more, doesn’t it? Like “yeah, sure dad, like what you want, but I’m the one going through this and I should be able to pick a name I love”.
With that said, I’m having a hard time liking any of her choices, while dad’s list is much more my style.
This is a very difficult situation, as they have very distinct styles, but here are my suggestions:
[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Eliza[/name]
[name]Ivy[/name]
Sorry for any repeats.
[name]Francesca[/name] nn [name]Frankie[/name]
[name]Leonora[/name] nn [name]Leo[/name]
[name]Lucretia[/name] nn [name]Luke[/name]
[name]Cordelia[/name] nn [name]Cory[/name] or [name]Cora[/name]
[name]Lyla[/name] nn [name]Lyle[/name]
[name]Cleo[/name]
[name]Noa[/name]
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Wren[/name]
[name]Daphne[/name]
[name]Winter[/name]
[name]Arabella[/name]
[name]Georgia[/name]
[name]Sarai[/name]
[name]Cassia[/name] (cash-uh or cass-ee-a)
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Alessandra[/name]
[name]Arden[/name]
This is exactly what I thought. Well that and “if they break up he can have other kids that are biologically his but she won’t be able to.” But here’s to hoping they happily spend the rest of their lives together with their magical little girl some sort of compromise must be reached.
[name]Ariel[/name], [name]Brooke[/name], [name]Cassidy[/name], [name]Colbie[/name], [name]Lacey[/name], [name]Mackenzie[/name], [name]Peyton[/name], [name]Sawyer[/name] & [name]Taylor[/name]
[name]Bernadette[/name], [name]Bernadine[/name], [name]Colette[/name], [name]Dorothy[/name],[name]Jean[/name], [name]Lucille[/name], [name]Margaret[/name], & [name]Vera[/name]
Below are some of my suggestions:
[name]Maisie[/name] (suggested by pp)
[name]Lucia[/name] (suggested by pp)
[name]Iris[/name]
[name]Beatrix[/name] (suggested by pp)
[name]Ainslie[/name]
[name]Aurora[/name]
[name]Willa[/name]
[name]Noelle[/name] (nn [name]Elle[/name]/a)
[name]Arianna[/name] (nn [name]Aria[/name])
[name]Molly[/name]
[name]Aubrey[/name]
[name]Vivian[/name]
[name]Maxine[/name] (nn [name]Max[/name])
[name]Charlotte[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] (wife could use the nickname [name]Emmy[/name])
[name]Georgie[/name]/[name]Georgia[/name]
Kirrily
[name]Alexa[/name]/[name]Alexia[/name]
[name]Wren[/name]
[name]Willow[/name]
[name]Eleanor[/name]
[name]Alice[/name]/[name]Alicia[/name] (could be nn [name]Allie[/name])
[name]Cassandra[/name] nn [name]Cassie[/name]
[name]Colette[/name] and [name]Colbie[/name] are actually pretty similar. What about a full name like [name]Cordelia[/name] or [name]Corinna[/name] with nn [name]Cory[/name]
or something with nn [name]Vera[/name] like [name]Clover[/name], [name]Avery[/name], [name]Verity[/name]
[name]Alice[/name] nn [name]Lacey[/name]
Well I get she’s not married, but it’s still a relationship and it’s [name]BOTH[/name] their baby, it took two people to make it not just one, so I think it’s a little unfair to say that just because they aren’t married, she should get all naming rights. It should be a compromise of some sort. And no middle name? It might actually help if there was one, so both could get something they love in. I would understand her getting the rights to name the child if they were broken up or something, but I would treat this case as if they are married.
catloverd, you seem to have misunderstood my meaning. I was not suggesting that the father should not have any rights since they’re not married, I was merely trying to find a nice way to sympathize with the horrible situation the mother is going through with this difficult pregnancy.
But thank you for taking it entirely out of context with the rest of my post.
It seems like she likes the trendy popular names, he prefers more traditional “old lady names” as we can call it. Luckily, old lady names are becoming trendy! I am sure they can come to an agreement.
Here are some suggestions:
[name]Matilda[/name] nn [name]Maddy[/name]
[name]Ruby[/name]
[name]Caroline[/name] or [name]Coraline[/name]… or just [name]Cora[/name]
[name]Annabel[/name]
[name]Eliana[/name]
[name]Emmeline[/name] (a fave of mine)
[name]Lucy[/name]
[name]Linnea[/name]
[name]Lorelei[/name]
[name]Lilian[/name] nn [name]Lily[/name]
[name]Marine[/name]
[name]Nora[/name]
[name]Penelope[/name]
Thank you for your help guys. The reason there is no middle name is because his family do not use middle names. She wanted to give him that. Her idea had been to use [name]Colbie[/name] [name]Marie[/name], because [name]Marie[/name] is a family name. He has refused to use a middle name so she backed down with that.
