i acknowledge that this is very much a hypothetical, i’m at least a decade off kids, my tastes will undoubtedly change, etc etc…

Aw [name_m]Edmund[/name_m] I’m so sorry you feel like this! I truly think there’s a place for all types of names / name styles on Nameberry, and I also think that your names are beautifully elegant! Nameberry truly wouldn’t be the same without your lovely names, it really does keep the site interesting and fun to me!!
interestingly your style seemed quite berryish to me! not in the typical berry style way, but long, romantic, fantastical names are definitely an established subgenre on nameberry. i can think of quite a few users over the years with that style, i always find it really fun!
i don’t view my style as very nameberryish either, but it’s less obvious from my UC. i think the combos there are more “vanilla”! don’t get me wrong, i love all those names, but a lot of my other favourite names i didn’t try to make combos for at all. i figured they’d be seen as outlandish in a bad way 
obviously that doesn’t mean they’re bad names, and i know that, but the whole point of UCs is for other people to look at them, so i wanted to avoid any names that i know nearly no one else would like. even though i love them, which is a bit of a shame!

I agree! They feel more vanilla / cottagecore and very generally Anglo cottagecore / vintage which is definitely not me haha

I feel pretty much a mix of what everyone is saying here. My style is so eclectic and varied- from names that are really fanciful (my LOTRs, King Arthur, Greek mythology names) to names that are just classic and pretty common (Sara, Catherine, Mary, Helen…) Dated, vintage, international, literary, names from all decades…I general, I’m totally happy with all my names and my tastes, but it does make it really hard to pair names together and to make sibsetb because I don’t like the catagories crossing over. For example, if I ever have children, how will I pick which style of my names I want to use? I wouldn’t want to have sisters Vasilisa and Roberta, or Gwenhwyfar and Drew, but I love all the names equally! I would think that sisters Chloe, Stevie and Jean, and sister Josephine and Clara are just as perfect for me as sisters Rhiannon, Hannelore, Allegra and Solveig, or sisters Guinevere and Luthien!

I think it’s so beautiful how everyone has their own unique styles that they are continuously curating and evolving.
I know it’s quite cliché but nameberry and the world would be much less interesting if everyone liked the same names.
[name_m]Even[/name_m] though I don’t like certain names that other berries do, I truly love seeing the joy everyone’s favourite names brings them, whether they are similar to mine or not.
It makes me so happy when another berry finds the perfect middle that they’ve been searching for, or maybe even the perfect name for their child.
I’ve also learnt so much through seeing names from many different cultures on here and I think that’s really special. I’ve discovered so many of my favourite names that I probably would never have come across if someone didn’t mention it.
Nameberry is a much better place because of all of the different naming styles!
Everyone brings something lovely to nameberry, and I hope everyone knows that they are so valued here, no matter what their favourite names are

[name_f]My[/name_f] goodness, my boys list is causing me problems. I had just gotten my girls list where I wanted it, too! [name_f]My[/name_f] problem with making fem combos was a lack of middle names, but for boys it seems to be a lack of first names! I still love [name_m]Peter[/name_m] and [name_u]Timothy[/name_u], but when I look at my boy section it just looks… bland. The weird thing is, I could swap in almost all of the middle names and feel just as satisfied. I mean, come on: [name_m]Cosmo[/name_m], [name_m]Barnaby[/name_m], [name_m]Thomas[/name_m], [name_m]Lewis[/name_m], and Henry?! That’s adorable. I honestly have no idea what idea what to do with my list.

i love the -rid names like astrid, ingrid & sigrid so much more with the norwegian pronunciation, where the d is silent, i wish that was a more well-known pronunciation outside of norway! i guess i could spell them astri, ingri and sigri but that looks a little off to me i’ll have to sit on it

I feel like I like so many names, but it’s getting increasingly more hard to rank them against each other. Not in like a “They’re all so lovely” way, but in a “All of these are pretty, but I don’t have a pull towards any of them” type of way. I also think my style is boring, and every combo repeats the same names over and over. IDK, my list just feels boring, and I really want it to feel fresh and perfect again.

Also, I want to like so many new names, and I really want to find new ones to add to my list, but I unfortunately can only seem to fall in love with names if I myself find them or learn about them. I absolutely love hearing the berries suggestions for my list, but I feel bad, because I never end up adding any of them to my lists.
It’s a weird thing, I feel like. I just think I never come across new names I like, and if other people suggest them, for some reason they don’t feel like names I should add to my list?

Yeah, I’ve been feeling this lately too. [name_u]Or[/name_u] to fall in love (or re fall in love) with a name and it feel perfect and then the next day for it to lose all its sparkle. Aside from [name_f]Jillian[/name_f], I’m struggling to feel a connection to any of my girls names right now

I love the name [name_u]Fox[/name_u]. I love the animal, the sound, and its connection to historical figure [name_u]George[/name_u] [name_u]Fox[/name_u] – but I can’t get over the fact that foxes are associated with some less-than-ideal qualities and are considered to be a bad spiritual omen in some cultures. It just feels like it has negative energy and not something I want for my child’s name. Plus, I’ve seen too many puns relating it to the sound-alike swear word.
It’s so sad, because how adorable would a sibset of [name_m]Shepherd[/name_m], [name_u]Haven[/name_u], [name_u]Bravery[/name_u], [name_u]Fox[/name_u], [name_m]Prosper[/name_m], [name_m]Ransom[/name_m], and [name_u]Wilder[/name_u] be?

[name_u]Fox[/name_u] Mulder on X-Files is another great association for the name! I have had similar reservations about the name [name_u]Fox[/name_u] (although I personally love foxes! I’m especially drawn to fox imagery in the snow) 
I can kind of see the connection to the swear word, but the “OX” sound is so distinct from the “UCK” sound in my opinion.
I will say, [name_u]Fox[/name_u] does sound perfect with the rest of the subset – it’s truly an enchanting, blissful collection of names you’ve got there!

I feel similar to this as well, but I’ve tried to focus more on the symbolism of cleverness, resilience, playfulness, adaptability, and intelligence.
