I saw [name_f]Iyla[/name_f] on SSA list and I was like “oh, why is it not capitalised though?”

It’s supposed to be [name_f]Isla[/name_f] not [name_f]Lyla[/name_f] :man_facepalming:

[name_f]My[/name_f] [name_u]Jasper[/name_u] has reddish/auburn curls and blue eyes and I see his name as somewhere between emerald and forest green.

[name_f]My[/name_f] opinion is the opposite I love how [name_f]Aoife[/name_f] sounds but the look of it is kind of confusing to Americanized eyes. Like it’s so pretty but I feel like I would regret using it because it would just be confusion with no one being able to say or spell the name you would get [name_f]Eva[/name_f], maybe [name_f]Ava[/name_f] too.

[name_f]Every[/name_f] time I see [name_f]Xiomara[/name_f] it makes me sad that it’s my cousins name cause I absolutely love it :sob: I’d still use it but it’d still kinda irritate me that it’s her name too (I have a rule where if it’s a first name of a relative, to use it as a fn they need to have passed)

That’s so frustrating, and I’m very sorry Claudie. I guess people have their own opinions, but Jamal is such a lovely cozy name. He’s amazing, just you remember that.

Why is Cassius so popular, someone please tell me that! :sob:

“Use the lastname to honor people” is all fun and games as long as everyone is named [name_u]Jackson[/name_u], Song and [name_m]Greene[/name_m] but I’m not naming my kid Dieffenbacher, Boguslawski or Pechloch. Not even in the middle spot.

[name_f]Poppy[/name_f] is so annoyingly childish and trendy. The flower is pretty but good grief.

I feel this in my soul. I just can’t name a kid Miettinen, Ehrenström, or Smirnoff…

if you’re going to include unique or unfamiliar names in polls / questions (which is awesome and i love it), please include the pronunciation !! especially if the name isn’t in the nb database (or if its entry doesn’t have a pronunciation)

I can’t tell you how many times i’ve had to google the pronunciation of a name only to find two or three different pronunciations. i want to know what pronunciation you’re using !!

It’s amazing for either gender! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I honestly love a lot of “childish” names like Polly, Peggy, Maggie, etc.
