Starting with girls:
[name]Brianna[/name]-It may not be as popular as [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Bella[/name], or [name]Madison[/name], but I hear it ALL the time.
[name]Savannah[/name]-I don’t like the “[name]Van[/name]” part of it…
[name]Nevaeh[/name]-I don’t really know how this is pronounced, and it’s trashy.
[name]Brooklyn[/name]-I don’t like this combo.
[name]Destiny[/name]-[name]Miley[/name] [name]Cyrus[/name] much?
[name]Genesis[/name]-Where did this come from???
[name]Megan[/name]-I heard of way too many…
Now Boys:
[name]Jacob[/name]-As it’s #1 I can’t stand how much I hear it…
[name]Jayden[/name]-Not my style…
[name]Jonathon[/name]-Wow, I must be hating J names. Lol. It reminds me of a fat kid…sorry everyone.
[name]Brayden[/name]-I know like 6 [name]Brayden[/name]'s. I feel it should be #2 not #51…
Try to respect other peoples opnions the best you can.
[name]Ashely[/name], [name]Emily[/name], [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Jennifer[/name] and [name]Megan[/name]: Because I’m in my 20’s and had about 3 of each of these in every class kindergarten through college…how are they still so popular?! [name]Just[/name] to be clear, I think they’re fine names… for a mommy, just not a baby. These names should wait for the 100 year rule.
[name]Madison[/name]. [name]Just[/name] no.
Also [name]Addison[/name], and in fact every name for a GIRL incorporating ‘son’. (I mean, I know [name]Alison[/name] is a traditional girls’ name, but at least it is very, very similar to [name]Alice[/name]. I’m actually not that fond of it, either …)
[name]Neveah[/name]. It’s completely made up, much too trendy, and doesn’t look right. There’s nothing special in naming your kid a backwards word, even if it is a nice word. Use [name]Heaven[/name] if you must, but [name]Neveah[/name] looks dumb.
[name]Brayden[/name]. That’s the sound a donkey makes. It’s not a good name for a little boy, and I don’t see it aging all that well to a grown man, either.
Some names that I absolutely hate in the top 100 are:
[name]Ella[/name]: I don’t know why, but this name drives me crazy!!!
[name]Madison[/name]: One of my least favorite names ever.
[name]Nevaeh[/name]: I too, think this name is very trashy.
[name]Emily[/name]: I’ve always hated this name.
[name]Paige[/name]: I can’t stand this name!
[name]Riley[/name]: Should be left as a last name.
[name]Bailey[/name]: I know one too many dogs with this name.
[name]Brooklyn[/name]: I think [name]Brooke[/name] is way prettier.
[name]Michaela[/name]: I just don’t like it.
[name]Jaden[/name]: I hate this name…
[name]Tristan[/name]: This sounds way too feminine to be a boy’s name.
There are lots of names that I just personally don’t care for. However, I don’t think they really deserve attacking…
…Except:
[name]Ayden[/name]/[name]Aiden[/name]: I’ll be brief about this one, because I do like the name, but why doesn’t anyone understand it’s spelled A-i-d-a-n. [name]Ayden[/name] I will let slide because that is the Turkish spelling, but why [name]Aiden[/name]? [name]How[/name] is [name]Aiden[/name] more popular than [name]Aidan[/name]? It doesn’t even look right.
[name]Nevaeh[/name]: Not only do I find this incredibly trashy, but it doesn’t even make phonetic sense. Shouldn’t it be pronounced “nev-uh-eh” or “nev-ay”? “Na-vay-uh” spelled [name]Nevaeh[/name]? I’m confused and I’m not even one of these poor kindergartener Nevaehs trying to spell it. As compelled as I am to spell it [name]Neveah[/name] as I type, spelling this name wrong only makes it worse. It just comes off to me as a name you pick when you don’t what else to use.
[name]Genesis[/name]: That many people are naming their daughter after a video game? She’d be less geeky if you named her [name]Bernice[/name]. Maybe people think it’s okay because it’s biblical (well, kind of), but I bet it has only caught on because on the familiar “[name]Jen[/name]” prefix. It seems like a name you give yourself when becoming a stripper, or one you give to your daughter if you’re a nerdy dad who plays too many computer games and mistakenly thinks being named “[name]Genesis[/name]” will make her cool.
No offence to anyone. So I know I was mean, you can name your kid whatever you want, but the fact that some of these are so popular to me is just…wow.
[name]Brianna[/name] - I don’t know why it just seems a little snobby to me.
[name]Nevaeh[/name] - My daughter has a girl with the same name in her kindergarten class. It makes me want to take other names and spell them backwards to see if they’ll catch on.
[name]Makayla[/name]/[name]Michaela[/name] - My oldest has had so many versions of this name her classes every year. So many [name]Kaylee[/name]'s. Sad thing is I really like the way the name sounds.
[name]Destiny[/name] - [name]Love[/name] the meaning but as a name it’s just not a strong as it’s meaning.
[name]Melanie[/name] - Dated.
[name]Genesis[/name] - Okay, I’ll admit when I met my fist and only girl named [name]Journey[/name] I fell in love with her name out of intrigue. [name]Genesis[/name] NO [name]Journey[/name] YES.
[name]Jaden[/name] [name]Jayden[/name] - What can really be said about this one but STOP!
[name]Hunter[/name] - [name]How[/name] about Gatherer? JK, I’ve just really never have liked this one.
[name]Justin[/name] - I think it’s dated.
[name]Jordan[/name] - Can we move on now? Has everyone had their fill of this name yet?
[name]Joshua[/name] - Everywhere I turn there is a [name]Josh[/name] or [name]Joshua[/name]. More so than [name]Jacob[/name].
A little [name]Nevaeh[/name] side note…
I vented to my husband about how much I hate this name and how if you’re going to use [name]Heaven[/name], just use [name]Heaven[/name]! His response, “Wouldn’t [name]Heaven[/name] backwards be Hell?”
I wouldn’t say that I “hate” them…but names that I don’t understand why THAT many people like/use them
Boys:
[name]Angel[/name] - waay feminine to me
[name]Jordan[/name] - I just…ick…So not me
[name]Jason[/name] - Friday the 13?
[name]Hayden[/name] - taken over by the girls
[name]Jesus[/name] - really? Like died on a cross, [name]Jesus[/name]? To me its like naming your child God or, Holy [name]Spirit[/name], or even Mother [name]Theresa[/name].
[name]Bryan[/name] - why the Y?
Girls:
[name]Taylor[/name] - just doesn’t appeal to me
[name]Kayla[/name] - haven’t we heard enough of these?
[name]Nevaeh[/name] - see above comments…all of them
[name]Neveah[/name] - ditto
[name]Destiny[/name] - [name]Destiny[/name], [name]Candy[/name], [name]Trixie[/name], all seem…stripperish to me
[name]Jocelyn[/name] - I just really dont’ like how it looks…sounds fine…I just can’t get passed its looks
[name]Angelina[/name] - Brangelina, anyone?
[name]Trinity[/name] - yup…matrix
[name]Valeria[/name] - ? this is in the top 100?
[name]Bailey[/name] - compleltey taken over by the dogs…
[name]Genesis[/name] - see [name]Valeria[/name]
Hate is a strong word. There are a lot of perfectly good names there that just don’t happen to be my style, and a few that are. In general I don’t prefer trendy names but I’m going to have to participate in a little Nameberry heresy here and say that I would rather meet a little [name]Genesis[/name], [name]Nevaeh[/name], or [name]Trinity[/name] before yet another [name]Sarah[/name] or [name]Grace[/name]. They are both moderately attractive and very sweet names but are too safe for me, like wearing all black. On the boys’ side, I’m so tired of everything that rhymes with [name]Aidan[/name] but I’m preaching to the choir.
I absolutely cannot stand any of the variations of [name]Makayla[/name]/[name]McKenna[/name]. Plus, there are so many [name]Kaylee[/name]'s and [name]Kaylin[/name]/[name]Kaylynn[/name]'s around here that it seems completely overhyped and unoriginal! Everytime I hear that someone has named their child anything with the kay/cay sound, I cringe, [name]Caden[/name] included!
[name]Madison[/name] and [name]Madelyn[/name] are completely overused, as well. They are okay names, but there are just so many little [name]Maddie[/name]'s running around!
That’s the British way of spelling it.
And [name]Angel[/name] and [name]Jesus[/name] are pronounced AHN-hell and hay-ZOOS, both being traditional Hispanic names.
I don’t like [name]Caden[/name] or [name]Kayden[/name] for boys, nor [name]Jaden[/name] or [name]Jayden[/name]. For girls, don’t like [name]Nevaeh[/name] or [name]Neveah[/name].
I do understand that both of the names [name]Angel[/name] and [name]Jesus[/name] are not pronounced how americans’ pronounce them…I was just expressing my opinion for not liking them. That was the point of this thread
I don’t like how people use the names [name]Jesus[/name] and [name]Angel[/name] either, these two names just don’t sound like they’re meant to be taken in to the worldly traditions. Typically hispanics use these, it’s a common name for boys of their culture.
All the other names that are listed and typically hated by everyone else, some of them I agree with 150,000 percent! Naveah is beginning to get over-used, the [name]Aiden[/name] (ayden, aidin, bla, bla, bla) are considered by this website—and this country—over-used, and not to forget the GAZILLION different spellings for them, and those mythical, pretty-sounding names (like [name]Cherish[/name], [name]Treasure[/name], [name]Precious[/name], Royalty<–seriously) sometimes sound stripperish. This list gets an A for accuracy.
