Name you hate on the Top 100?

[name]How[/name] terrible. You must be new to the baby name world. Not your fault, I guess.

Girls:

[name]Emma[/name], [name]Madison[/name], [name]Olivia[/name], [name]Abigail[/name], [name]Chloe[/name], [name]Samantha[/name], [name]Addison[/name], [name]Natalie[/name], [name]Hannah[/name], [name]Ashley[/name], [name]Sarah[/name], [name]Brianna[/name], [name]Kaylee[/name], [name]Allison[/name], [name]Nevaeh[/name], [name]Aubrey[/name], [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Brooklyn[/name], [name]Destiny[/name], [name]Sydney[/name], [name]Kylie[/name], [name]Jessica[/name], [name]Jocelyn[/name], [name]Angelina[/name], [name]Trinity[/name], [name]Andrea[/name], [name]Vanessa[/name], [name]Aaliyah[/name], [name]Jennifer[/name], [name]Melanie[/name], [name]Paige[/name], [name]Faith[/name], [name]Caroline[/name], [name]Genesis[/name], [name]Mary[/name].

Boys:

[name]Michael[/name], [name]Jayden[/name], [name]David[/name], [name]Aiden[/name], [name]Logan[/name], [name]John[/name], [name]Christian[/name], [name]Jonathan[/name], [name]Gavin[/name], [name]Brandon[/name], [name]Kevin[/name], [name]Justin[/name], [name]Aaron[/name], [name]Brayden[/name], [name]Austin[/name], [name]Adrian[/name], [name]Jason[/name], [name]Wyatt[/name], [name]Jesus[/name], [name]Eric[/name], [name]Brian[/name], [name]Caden[/name], [name]Kyle[/name].

Wow. I might have gone a little over the top there, I listed all the ones I really dislike, not just the ones I can’t stand. I do really dislike all the above names though, and I’m glad that I haven’t encountered that many of them in real life because the naming trends here in New Zealand are quite different.

Oh wow…

BOYS
[name]Joshua[/name] - This name seems terribly dated and lacks a certain handsome, strong quality I expect in a boy’s name. The nickname [name]Josh[/name] just makes me think of joshin’ someone, or kidding around…

[name]Christopher[/name]/[name]Christian[/name] - For some reason, names with [name]Chris[/name] as a nickname bother me, perhaps because of overuse. And [name]Christian[/name] is a way of identifying someone’s religion, not a name.

[name]Mason[/name] - [name]Stone[/name] layer? I just honestly don’t see the appeal of this at all, and it is so very trendy.

[name]Brayden[/name] - I’m just braidin’ my hair!

[name]Ayden[/name] - The Y just kills me. This is a traditional Irish name, so it should be spelled that way.

GIRLS
[name]Addison[/name] - [name]Ever[/name] since I began watching [name]Grey[/name]'s Anatomy, this name has bothered me, but I have yet to meet one! It just sounds so harsh and abrupt, or it sounds like “add us in.”

[name]Kayla[/name] - I can’t picture this on any grown woman, and that REALLY bothers me…

[name]Jasmine[/name] - [name]Aladdin[/name]'s princess is the only one who can bear this name. Otherwise, I personally think it sounds a bit cheap. After all, this is a type of rice, not a name for a child!

[name]Destiny[/name] - This seems like too much of a name for anyone to handle. What if the little girl doesn’t fulfill her destiny (whatever that may be) and doesn’t make anything of herself - it seems a little ironic. Whatever your opinion on [name]Miley[/name] [name]Cyrus[/name]’ name, I’m glad she changed it away from [name]Destiny[/name]…

[name]Jocelyn[/name] - This name sounds like porcelain, but without all of the soft, delicate things that come to mind with the china. [name]Jocelyn[/name] sounds (and looks) made up, and its harsh sound really turns me off.

[name]Genesis[/name] - You’ve all said it. I can’t believe this is even in the Top 100, as I’d honestly be horrified if I met a little [name]Genesis[/name]. What are her siblings’ names? Exodus, [name]Leviticus[/name], Numbers, and Deuteronomy? I think it is clear that all names from the Bible (except actual NAMES) should be left where they are, and not be given to children. You just wait and see - before long, people won’t be able to find any new names in the Bible, so they’ll just choose Bible for their child’s name!

I’m sorry if this was rude or if my humor was mocking or judgmental, but no harm was intended in the making of this commentary…

I can’t necessarily say I “hate” a name, I just dislike the use of it.
My least favorites in the top 100:
~[name]Christian[/name] - Really? So, if I’m Jewish, should I name my son Jewish, or if I’m an atheist should I name my child Atheist. He could become a Buddhist one day, so why give him the name of the religion he is being brought up with.
~[name]Nevaeh[/name] - I really dislike the sound of this name, that it’s heaven spelled backward, and all that jazz.
~[name]Genesis[/name], [name]Trinity[/name], [name]Jesus[/name] - So cliche. So religious. So ridiculous. I have a problem with names that straight out declare your religious affiliation.
~[name]Ayden[/name] - I actually like the name [name]Aidan[/name], because it’s spelled correctly. And at least [name]Aiden[/name] looks correct. But the Y bothers me a bit.

To each their own, as we can see here, people name their children whatever they darn well please, but these are a few of the names I personally would never choose

[name]Jesus[/name] is actually not on the top 100, and its a classic Hispanic name pronounced hay-zuse.

[name]How[/name] terrible. You must be new to the baby name world. Not your fault, I guess.[/quote]

She must be new to the world in general.

[name]Jesus[/name] is actually not on the top 100, and its a classic Hispanic name pronounced hay-zuse.[/quote]

I just checked, and in the U.S., [name]Jesus[/name] is #79 in popularity. I had no idea, either!

Take care!

I agree with alot of people, that hate is a word often tossed around when nobody really thinks of what it means. I dont think (i myself am guilty in using this word with out thinking) i HATE any names. I do dislike some, mostly because of an association i have with people who had the name. However there are ALOT of names that just are not my style in the slightlest way. In the top 100 these names are
girls…
[name]Emma[/name]/[name]Emily[/name]- [name]Just[/name] to popular for me, though i have no real problem with it
[name]Abigal[/name]- for whatever reason i associate this with a cows name, much like bess or besty. probably just me though
[name]Kaylee[/name]- more the spelling then anything
[name]Nevaeh[/name]- I agree with most people that this name sounds “stripperish” im not quite sure why but i get the same feeling with [name]Trinity[/name] and [name]Destiny[/name].
[name]Arianna[/name]- This is a person assocaited dislike
[name]Genisis[/name]- It makes me think of the [name]Phil[/name] Colins song.

Boys…
[name]Jacob[/name]- The main problem being a perosn, but its so popular
Angle- i realize that in hispanic culture this is a popular name, but it sounds very femine to me
[name]Adrian[/name]- Ditto to Angle
[name]Jordon[/name]- OK i have always disliked this name for boys and girls. No bad associations with this one.[name]Just[/name] a name i never liked
[name]Xavier[/name]- Uhhh highschool ruined this name forever for me
Domonic- Domonic and [name]Xavier[/name] were friends in highschool. lol

I would however like to stand up for [name]Makayla[/name] really quick. The spelling [name]Michaela[/name] looks like it would be pronounced [name]Mike[/name]-al-a not ma-kay-la. Maybe beause i have never seen the spelling [name]Michaela[/name] but it doesnt make any sense to me, is the orgin of the name irish? i seem to have a problem with irish names and pronounciation. I dont quite understand why its so ugly sounding to most people, cause i also like [name]Makenna[/name] which is a disliked name also. Im not trying to tell people they arnt entitled to there opinons i just dont quite understand the strong dislike for it. But then again i dislike [name]Imogen[/name] so i guess its just diffrent tastes

Im hoping that these are associations with people and not just a very horrible mean steriotype on your part. This goes back to other posters, becareful with what you say, or i guess more so how you say it. ALOT of people can take offense to it.

[name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Chloe[/name]
[name]Zoe[/name] / [name]Zoey[/name]
[name]VALERIA[/name]

[name]Caleb[/name]
[name]Brody[/name]
[name]Liam[/name]
[name]Cooper[/name]

[name]Jesus[/name] is actually not on the top 100, and its a classic Hispanic name pronounced hay-zuse.[/quote]

Like [name]Jill[/name] said, it actually is in the top 100. And while I do know it’s a Hispanic name, I’m still not a big fan because of the religious ties to it, like I stated in my answer. [name]Just[/name] thought I should clarify, so no one takes my answer the wrong way

No, its fine, and I didn’t know [name]Jesus[/name] was in the top 100 so thats a mistake on my part. [name]Just[/name] wondering, do you dislike religious choices such as [name]Abigail[/name] and [name]Timothy[/name] as well, or is it just the ones that declare religious associations in a very loud and sometimes annoying way? I see what your saying, and with the exception of [name]Jesus[/name] (sorry), they actually have a nice sound, especially [name]Christian[/name] and [name]Trinity[/name]. I suppose if it wasn’t used so much that it is almost a word instead of a name, [name]Jesus[/name] would sound nice as well. That would be jee-zus, not the Hispanic hay-zuse. I agree with you on [name]Ayden[/name], I do like [name]Aidan[/name] but not when people put a ridiculous Y in it. Random Ys are for girls, as in [name]Kristyn[/name], which I really like. I think of [name]Nevaeh[/name] as an anagram, and in that sense its actually quite creative and clever. It doesn’t have a bad sound either. I know everybody hates it, but I think its nice. Sorry if you misunderstood my reply, I was just trying to clarify as well, not being rude or anything.

[name]How[/name] terrible. You must be new to the baby name world. Not your fault, I guess.[/quote]

She must be new to the world in general.[/quote]

Haha, yes. I agree. [name]How[/name] about:

[name]Elizabeth[/name]–poor Muslim servant living in a desert in Australia

[name]Anne[/name]–Dumb Eskimo stripper who wears fish on her head

and ooh, my personal favorite,

[name]Sarah[/name]–fat, ugly, malnutritioned man living with his grandmother. What, you say? [name]Sarah[/name] is not a man’s name? Where did that come from?

btw this is just a joke, I don’t actually believe this stuff.

That’s alright, mistakes happen. No, I’m fine with religious names, I have one myself ([name]Rachel[/name]) and happen to be the least religious person I know. Lol. I personally would never use a Biblical name, though. I truly dislike names that come right out and say, “I’m [name]Christian[/name]”, in the obnoxious way that their name is [name]Christian[/name]. Things change and so do religious affiliations, and people don’t realize that. They do have a nice sound, but not for names (in my opinion).
I hate it when people add random Y’s to boy’s names as well! [name]Ayden[/name] is the worst, they ruined a perfectly wonderful name. Y’s in girl’s names are fine with me though.
[name]Nevaeh[/name], while not my favorite, is creative, as you said. They deserve props for trying to be creative. But, again, I don’t care for the screaming of the religious affiliation in the name. Haha.
And thanks for clarifying, I knew you weren’t trying to be rude, I think we both just kind of confused

Girls :

[name]Olivia[/name] - Horrid! I despise this name! dislike is not a strong enough word i HATE this name, all I think of is [name]Olive[/name] oil, and it reminds me of someone old and fat don’t know why, such an ugly name
[name]Sophia[/name] / [name]Sofia[/name] - see olivia
[name]Emma[/name]- sounds so in complete
[name]Victoria[/name] - just so old
[name]Nevaeh[/name] - just absurd
[name]Avery[/name]- I keep thinking bird girl
[name]Aubrey[/name] - I think the sound of the name is unattractive yet [name]Audrey[/name] I could take or leave
[name]Morgan[/name] - ok for a boy HATE it for a girl
[name]Sydney[/name] - better for a boy (though not great there either) but just awe full for a girl
[name]Destiny[/name] - used to like this as a child don’t know what happend
[name]Brooke[/name]
[name]Layla[/name]
Peton / [name]Payton[/name] - for a girl?!
[name]Claire[/name]
[name]Trinity[/name] - Matix
[name]Maya[/name]- Mayonnaise!
[name]Camila[/name] - See [name]Olivia[/name]
[name]Genesis[/name]

for Boys :

[name]Austin[/name] - my [name]Olivia[/name] for boys! I despise this name and it’s sound, I keep trying but I just can’t see the appeal
[name]Wyatt[/name]
[name]Joshua[/name]
[name]Elijah[/name]
[name]Jayden[/name] - over used
[name]Christian[/name] - it’s a religion! if you must use [name]Christopher[/name] at least it’s obviously a name
[name]Gavin[/name] - sounds like baby talk to me
[name]Angel[/name] - ok for a girl I can see it. but that poor poor boy!
[name]Isaiah[/name] - it’s old fashioned and not aging well
[name]Josiah[/name] - same as [name]Isaiah[/name] and I really don’t like these biblical names
[name]Luke[/name]
[name]Lucas[/name]
[name]Brody[/name]
[name]Jesus[/name] - I don’t care how it’s pronounced or how traditional it is the fact is its spelled [name]JESUS[/name], like naming a child god’s true name. sorry but it’s almost blasphemous to me, and i’m not even that religious!
[name]Cameron[/name]

[name]Nevaeh[/name]!!! Uh! Why don’t you just name your baby [name]Heaven[/name]? Then everyone can pronounce it!

Girls:
[name]Hannah[/name]- I’ve never liked this name. I don’t know why, but it just kind of rubs me the wrong way. (And all the [name]Hannah[/name]'s I’ve known have been really nice.)
[name]Ashley[/name] - Trashy.
[name]Brianna[/name] - I don’t get the appeal of this one, at all.
[name]Nevaeh[/name] - My spell check thinks this is spelled wrong. It’s just ridiculous.
[name]Makayla[/name] - looks really misspelled.
[name]Kaitlyn[/name] - why don’t people just stick to [name]Caitlin[/name]? It’s the original and prettiest spelled.
[name]Trinity[/name] - Yeah, we get it, you’re religious.
[name]Aaliyah[/name] - this is such a pretty sounding name… but this spelling ruins it. (I love it spelled as [name]Aleah[/name] or [name]Alia[/name].)
[name]Katelyn[/name] - see [name]Kaitlyn[/name].
[name]Autumn[/name] - I know an [name]Autumn[/name]… she’s not a good person.
[name]Genesis[/name] - see [name]Trinity[/name].
[name]Gracie[/name] - I’m not a huge fan of nicknames as real first names. This is just a but too much for me. ([name]Grace[/name] is great, though.)

Boys:
[name]Jacob[/name] - I absolutely despise this name. I don’t like the way it sounds, it just sounds odd to me.
[name]Jayden[/name] - I’m so sick of the -ayden/-aden names.
[name]Angel[/name] - that poor boy… It really sounds like a girls’ name to me.
[name]Jordan[/name] - I love it as a girls’ name, but not as a boys’.
[name]Robert[/name] - it’s just really old sounding to me. I like the nickname [name]Bobby[/name], though.
[name]Brayden[/name] - see [name]Jayden[/name].
[name]Jesus[/name] - I get that hispanics pronounce it hay-seus, but it’s still [name]Jesus[/name].
[name]Bryan[/name] - This spelling just irks me. It seems like such an unneeded ‘y’.
[name]Alex[/name] - Too much of a nickname.
[name]Jaden[/name] - see [name]Jayden[/name].
[name]Ayden[/name] - another unnecessary ‘y’.
[name]Caden[/name] - see [name]Jayden[/name].
[name]Colton[/name] - All I see when I see this name is ‘[name]Colt[/name]’ like the horse or the revolver. I don’t get the appeal of it.
[name]Kaden[/name] - see [name]Jayden[/name].

Ditto on those “son” names for girls. (No offense intended to anyone here.)

Although, I don’t mind the softer “syn” endings for the same names, to disguise the original masculine suffix: [name]Madisyn[/name], [name]Addisyn[/name], etc.

– [name]Nephele[/name]

I wouldn’t say hate, but my pet peeves are:
Boys:
[name]Ethan[/name] - always reminds me of ethanol…
[name]Tyler[/name] - doesn’t have any appeal to me
[name]Angel[/name] - labels
[name]Brayden[/name] - bray?
[name]Hunter[/name] - why name your child a hunter?
[name]Kayden[/name], [name]Kaden[/name], [name]Caden[/name], etc. - I just don’t like it
Girl:
[name]Madison[/name] - “son of the mighty warrior”
[name]Addison[/name] - [name]Adam[/name]'s son? Nice name for a boy.
[name]Alyssa[/name] - OK, I have no explanation. I just don’t like it.
[name]Ashley[/name] - same here
[name]Brianna[/name] - and same here
[name]Hailey[/name] - again, no appeal
[name]Kaylee[/name] - ridiculous spelling, [name]IMO[/name]
[name]Nevaeh[/name] - glad so many people share my opinion on this one
[name]Makayla[/name] - this is like the worst baby name ever! I mean, the spelling…
[name]Brooklyn[/name] - bwah
[name]Destiny[/name] - labels again
[name]Kylie[/name] - one of the names I don’t like without any specific reason
[name]Trinity[/name] - I can’t see the point.
[name]Genesis[/name] - why?
