I have fallen in love with the name [name]Matilda[/name]. I think it is a beautiful, feminine, spunky name and my DH especially likes the nn [name]Tilly[/name].
I’ve been reading Beyond [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Aiden[/name] and it says to consider sibling names when choosing the firstborn’s name. To quote, “Your first choice sets the tone for the rest of the family.”
[name]Matilda[/name] - what is the style and image?
What names (Boy & Girl) would you think “go with” [name]Matilda[/name]? I have my own ideas but I want to see how others perceive [name]Matilda[/name].
If you had to choose 2 boy and 2 girl names to go with [name]Matilda[/name] what would you choose?
[name]Josephine[/name] and [name]Coralie[/name] ( i also like it with [name]Susannah[/name] and [name]Violet[/name])
[name]Arlo[/name] and [name]Rufus[/name]
Thanks for the replies so far. If you had to put [name]Matilda[/name] in a category what would it be? What I mean is classic, vintage, hipster, hot, fusty, dated, tacky etc.
I know lots of [name]Matilda[/name]'s…it is very popular here in Australia. Their siblings are
[name]Matilda[/name], [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]George[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Sally[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name], [name]Banjo[/name] and [name]Daisy[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name], [name]Finn[/name] and [name]Banjo[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name], [name]Beatrix[/name] and [name]Arlo[/name]
[name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name]
It’s a gorgeous name, I sometimes regret not using it for my second daughter but it felt endemic here! ( it’s not really, just in my pocket of the world)
[name]One[/name] more (!)- [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]May[/name]. I think this one, [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Ruby[/name] and [name]Matilda[/name] and [name]Hazel[/name] are my favourite combinations.
Sjwatson - can I ask where you live. I’m in Brisbane and I know of 1. I also haven’t taught any yet - I teach prep. Maybe they’re still in daycare [name]Even[/name] so I don’t think popularity would deter us from using it unless it was no. 1-5. [name]Beatrix[/name] is cool - cant see DH liking that though
[name]Matilda[/name] is one of my favorites! I would classify it as a vintage or an international name. It feels very spunky!
I would pair it up with [name]Tabitha[/name] and [name]Beatrix[/name], [name]August[/name] and [name]Arthur[/name]. (Those are the names I love anyways.)
I know a couple of Matildas, and these are their siblings:
[name]Florence[/name] and [name]Rose[/name] (nn [name]Flo[/name] and [name]Rosie[/name])
[name]Mungo[/name] (m) and [name]Emilia[/name] (nn [name]Emmie[/name])
[name]Olivia[/name] (however this person is just called [name]Tilly[/name], not [name]Matilda[/name], much to her chagrin)
I would say [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Benjamin[/name] for a boy, [name]Nora[/name] and [name]Catherine[/name] for a girl.
