I was ranting about this, and then I decided that I’d pull this off myself.
What names do you dislike?
You’re welcome to list them, but please don’t call names ‘trashy’, or other demeaning terms. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because you don’t like a name doesn’t necessarily mean anyone else doesn’t, or that a person on here doesn’t have that name.
TL;DR: List names you dislike. [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to list reasons but don’t give ones like ‘the name is trashy’. Trying to keep this lighthearted and polite.
I dislike most popular names, except for the classics like [name_f]Emma[/name_f], [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_m]Matthew[/name_m], etc.
These threads come up about once a week. I don’t really dislike any names. Some aren’t my style but whatever makes another parent happy is great!

Personally, I don’t like -wyn/win- names.
I’m also not the biggest fan of [name_f]Josephine[/name_f], [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], [name_f]Agatha[/name_f], [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Persephone[/name_f], or [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. IDK, they just never really meshed with me.

Bodhi because it sounds sorta like body and I don’t like the sound
Silas Sound I guess?
Ada find it pretty boring which is surprising because I really like [name_f]Anna[/name_f]
Seth because it sounds like meth and I have negative associations with that name
Imogene Looks beautiful but I feel like the name is too easily shortened and I really don’t like [name_f]Emma[/name_f]

I feel so bad for the poor people with the name [name_f]Karen[/name_f]. I know a great one, and I feel so bad that her name’s become a meme.

I 100% agree about the K names. I’ve had the exact same experiences. I particularly dislike names that start with “Ka-” sounds.

Theodore - no particular reason I guess. I just don’t like the sound.
Greer - sounds like green/leer/ear/rear/tear/gruel
Gretchen - sound liked retched, and just not something I can imagine on a child
Ed- names ([name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Edmund[/name_m], etc.) - sound heavy and old
Agatha - sounds old, also the “ag” sounds a bit unpleasant
Saige - way prefer [name_u]Sage[/name_u]. [name_u]Saige[/name_u] looks like “siej”
Lawrence - way prefer [name_u]Laurence[/name_u]. [name_u]Lawrence[/name_u] looks like “law-rinse” and the “w” makes it look choppy
And names I can’t find a reason for disliking: [name_m]Tucker[/name_m], [name_u]Cooper[/name_u], [name_u]Tanner[/name_u], [name_u]Tristan[/name_u], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_u]Porter[/name_u], [name_f]Maxine[/name_f], [name_f]Roxanne[/name_f]
I don’t like [name_m]Silas[/name_m] or [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m]. At all.

Greer (It sounds like grunting to me.)
Agatha, [name_f]Agnes[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f], [name_m]Archibald[/name_m], [name_m]Ronald[/name_m], [name_m]Reginald[/name_m], etc. (I really hate ‘old people’ names.)
Anything derived from [name_f]Cathrine[/name_f]/Kathrine. [name_f]Kathy[/name_f], [name_f]Katelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Kayla[/name_f], [name_f]Kaylyn[/name_f], [name_f]Kayleigh[/name_f], [name_f]Katie[/name_f], etc. (They’re SO common where I’m from that it just feels ‘basic’ at this point.)
Sam, [name_f]Amy[/name_f], [name_m]John[/name_m], [name_m]Jake[/name_m], [name_m]Mike[/name_m], [name_f]Maggie[/name_f], etc. (I dislike short, simple names because they are boring to me.)
Any name with a non-traditional/uncommon spelling.

Hey guys, I know hating on names is fun for some people but lets try to keep it positive and not have these kinds of threads! They just end up upsetting people!
Also [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] is so so handsome!

I really dislike [name_f]Maeve[/name_f]. It’s really loved here but I find it rather sad sounding.
For some reason I dislike [name_m]Andrew[/name_m]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] nickname [name_f]Andie[/name_f]/Andy though

Personally I’m not really a fan of names which for me are a bit insipid. So names like
[name_f]Emma[/name_f]
[name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Susan[/name_f]
[name_f]Gemma[/name_f]
I just find them quite bland.
Boys I really dislike boys names which try to hard to be macho?

[name_u]Mason[/name_u].
They just seem corny to me and overbearingly male.

I’m gonna put my own spin on this and say that I wish all names were unique! So in a way, I dislike popular names.
It makes me sad when there are multiple kids in a class with the same name. It frustrates me when parents who know how popular a name is go ahead and choose it anyway. I also feel terrible that parents who love a popular name might have to let it go because it becomes popular.
To me, your name is supposed to be your unique identifier! You might not be able to be the only one in the world, but I wish everyone could be the only one within their own world (school, work, friends).

It’s actually a really nice name, but I know a couple people who don’t wear it to its full extent. Also I am constantly frustrated by trying to remember where the a’s go. But overall, if I met a different [name_m]Isaiah[/name_m] I could like it.
Unfortunately there are quite a few names I have bad personal associations with: [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], [name_f]Julia[/name_f], [name_f]Brittney[/name_f], [name_m]Joshua[/name_m], [name_u]Mason[/name_u], [name_m]Silas[/name_m], [name_u]Abby[/name_u], [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], and [name_u]Blake[/name_u]
None of these are bad names, I’ll just never be able to get the associations to certain people out of my head in order to like them.
