Names you hate the most?

Which names do you hate/dislike and why?

-Names that are spelled unnecessarily complicatedly (ie: Aliviyah). This just makes life difficult for everyone involved.

-Overused trendy names (ie: [name_u]Jordan[/name_u] and [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] for girls) especially when theyā€™re past their time. They donā€™t age well imo.

-What I perceive to be ā€œsoftā€ names for boys (ie: [name_u]Evan[/name_u]/Devon/Allen/Kenny). This is super subjective but like nails on a chalkboard for me.

I hope I donā€™t offend anyone with these comments

I have no specific names I hate and even if I did, I wouldnā€™t want to share them publicly at the risk of offending/hurting someone. I know that sounds soft, but Iā€™ve seen it happen here and Iā€™ve seen awful comments about my own names that leave a bad taste in my mouth.

However, names that Iā€™m not too fond of tend to be the ones that I have a bad association with, (for example, I have a bad association with the name [name_f]Maia[/name_f], as I was bullied by one as a kid, even though the name is perfectly fine) or have an AWFUL meaning, either biblically or meaning-wise. For example, I do love the names ā€˜[name_u]Cameron[/name_u]ā€™ & ā€˜[name_u]Campbell[/name_u]ā€™ but the meaning really puts me off and I wouldnā€™t want to use it. I tie meanings very heavily to names!

Just a reminder to everyone to keep this thread CIVIL, and be mindful of the words you use while describing names.

I think hate is a strong word - the only time Iā€™d hate a name would be if it was offensive in some way (the most common issue is cultural appropriation). I do have names I donā€™t like, just like everyone else - theyā€™re mostly 60s/70s names like [name_m]Simon[/name_m] and [name_m]Richard[/name_m] (sorry! I know [name_m]Simon[/name_m]ā€™s quite popular on here)

I wouldnt say I hate any names, just names I personally dislike for me.
Im not really fond of [name_f]Bridget[/name_f], [name_f]Margaret[/name_f], or [name_f]Bianca[/name_f]ā€¦ Im not quite sure how to explain it, but the sounds of these names sort of hurt my ears?

I agree with this. For me these are [name_u]Rene[/name_u] and [name_f]Gertrude[/name_f], which are perfectly good names.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] for names I dislike, I can still see the appeal. If it had no appeal, it would not be used as a name.

Agree about strange spelling

I think Clamidia really bad choice because of another similar word, even if Clamidia buy it self, totally fine.

I hated names, depending on people ā€œname ownersā€ when I was small. Like, [name_f]Dolores[/name_f](because of [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]ā€™s characteršŸ¤£)

Do we really need another thread like this? Everyone has certain names they dislike personally, and yes, I admit I find some names rather tacky, but canā€™t we just keep it positive? Thereā€™s no need to go and ridicule other peopleā€™s choices, is there?

I guess that is misunderstanding, a) just share names and reasons, like ā€œI donā€™t like [name_m]Tom[/name_m], because I know one [name_m]Tom[/name_m]ā€¦ā€ b) Polite about strange ideas, like name ā€œprincessā€ for example c) donā€™t like some meaning

No hate speech, just thinking
